“The Revenge Game No One Is Talking About”
September 19th, 2025
Bucs edge rusher Haason Reddick
Joe’s mentioned many times that Todd Bowles is a different guy when off camera.
He’s from a rough neighborhood in New Jersey and he played 127 NFL games as a defensive back before launching a front office career and a coaching career. Bowles is a highly competitive dude, not the persona he adopts when standing at a podium.
So when Bowles brushed off any talk this week of him facing his former Jets team by saying he played them in 2021 as a defensive coordinator so that’s in the past, Joe had to laugh. Yeah, right. Bowles was head coach of the Jets for four seasons, 2015 through 2018. Jets fans couldn’t wait to get rid of him after his 40th loss. Heck, they wanted him out long before that.
Joe has no doubt Bowles would like to beat the Jets just a little more than he’s letting on. No, Joe’s not saying Bowles has anything but gratitude for the Jets organization.
And that brings Joe to Bucs edge rusher Haason Reddick, who was ineffective and miserable as a Jets edge rusher for 10 games last season. Reddick held out until October and managed two half-sacks in 10 games. Rust? That does not last 10 games plus a bye week.
The Jets wouldn’t give Reddick the money he wanted and it upset him. And it led to the football world no longer trusting him to be an elite player, which he certainly was before arriving in north Jersey.
With his 31st birthday on Monday and the Jets in town, along with the New York media that shredded him, Joe sincerely hopes Reddick is ignited to play his best game.
Jets beat writer Andy Vasquez wrote about “the revenge game no one is talking about.” Joe agrees. Vasquez closed his piece with “we do know that Jets fans would be wise to prepare mentally for the infuriating possibility of Reddick impacting the game.”
Joe sure hopes that’s a spot-on assessment.

Maybe no one is talking about it because Reddick hasn’t given us much to talk about. Yes he had one sack in two games but let’s be honest, he has been largely invisible and unremarkable. Not the answer everyone was hoping for, sorry.
September 19th, 2025 at 9:54 am
Maybe he will get three ints since he will probably be covering instead of rushing the passer.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:01 am
3-0!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
September 19th, 2025 at 10:01 am
NCbucfan made me chuckle, that would be hilarious if that happened. I hope Reddick pops off and we stomp the Jets. Our defense needs to come up BIG this weekend if we have any hope of a cushion to weather our tough stretch of games. I faintly remember us having a joint practice with the Jets awhile ago and Baker doing fairly well against their defense, and some of those players will be playing today.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:12 am
Feed that fire Joe. Feed it. Feed it!!
September 19th, 2025 at 10:13 am
Plenty of reasons to take this game very seriously, starting with how a team everyone had written an obituary for came out and played toe to toe with everyone’s’ Super Bowl favorite last night.
But, yeah, Todd will have Reddick playing as a 3rd safety most of the time so maybe he can get a pick while he’s trying to cover Garrett Wilson. LOL.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:21 am
REDDICK HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING AND I EXPECT NOTHING AGAINST THE JETS . YET ANOTHER OVER PAID BUM OF A DE.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:22 am
I get the Reddick part, Bowles is not wired that way.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:26 am
I’ll take 3 ints instead of 3 sacks.
September 19th, 2025 at 10:32 am
Someone archive these anti-Reddick cooters.
Rice was absent and invisible a lot of games and delivered huge at the right times.
Reddick has not even had 4 games here and people are writing his obituary. Get right, people!
September 19th, 2025 at 10:40 am
Am I the only Buc fan nervous about this game?
September 19th, 2025 at 10:42 am
@BUCSFAN4LIFE Funny, Reddick’s is tied with total tackles of 5 with Yaya and Vita and he and Gains have the only sacks for the whole D line. SMDH
September 19th, 2025 at 10:46 am
Revenge game lol The Bucs right now are a 1 legged man in a azz kicking contest lol.
Staying afloat for the next 4 weeks is a huge under taking in a very unforgiving Sport.
Oh well
GO BUCS!!!!
September 19th, 2025 at 10:47 am
Fingers crossed
Go Bucs!

Bama Rich
OG Buc fan here so the way this game is setting up , I have a long history with.. right down to the Uni’s..
Kinda like when you go all in pre flop on the poker table.. no more stress.. just wait and see how the cards do come out..hope you hit..
September 19th, 2025 at 11:09 am
Nobody’s talking about it because it’s not worth talking about.
September 19th, 2025 at 11:09 am
@modhairken Since you’re so sold on reddick why not archive it yourself especially while you attempted to even compare him to Simeon Rice.
September 19th, 2025 at 11:10 am
I cannot wait to see what Reddick does this week against the Jets. They were in chaos when he was there. Go Bucs!
September 19th, 2025 at 11:35 am
Everyone better bring it because the O-Line is decimated.
I still think they should win but this should have been a 2 TD tune-up win for the Eagles. Now it is a must win because the next 2 weeks look ominous until the O-Line is back
September 19th, 2025 at 11:38 am
I have no idea what to expect.
If were were healthy, I think we’d wipe the floor with them. But now?
This would be a good game for the defense to start carrying the team.
September 19th, 2025 at 11:40 am
With all these injuries, our rookies need to develop faster than normal.
September 19th, 2025 at 11:45 am
@Bama Rich
No, not even close. Sweat Everywhere because “right now” we Truly Are the “one legged man” in the a@s kicking contest.
We will definitely need an edge (rush) to win this without an O line and missing All Kinds of weapons that otherwise would guarantee we’re in Any fight. The Best news is that Baker IS still standing!
Besides that….. Sweat Everywhere!
September 19th, 2025 at 11:52 am
This is not revenge, it’s survival. Bucs have too many injuries for style points plus they are wearing those horrible loser uniforms. Let’s hope the Bucs can escape with a win.
Buc fan since 1976, so yeah I have seen a lifetime of losing in those gross creamsicle uniforms. They are not cool. They should remain with the history of a losing team with a horrible owner. Rant off. lol.
September 19th, 2025 at 11:55 am
Will HR5 have a good game? That could very well happen!! Time for the Defense to play really well while the OL regroups!! This is a very winnable game!! LFG!?
September 19th, 2025 at 12:14 pm
bucsfan4forlife if you click that little button you don’t have to tyoe in all caps and annoy people even more
September 19th, 2025 at 12:27 pm
The revenge game no one is talking about? Maybe if he were to do something…ANYTHING during the game, there WOULD be something to talk about?
September 19th, 2025 at 12:34 pm
Where is Joe with the article that Bucs Guard Michael Jordan will not be playing Sunday against the Jets and is undergoing tests. Even the backup Offensive line is hurt. We might need to get some fat guys from Hooters to start blocking for the Bucs lol
September 19th, 2025 at 12:38 pm
Keep in mind that even the elite edge will have games where they don’t get any sacks. Trey Hendrickson led the league in sacks last year with 17.5.
7.5 of those sacks came in two games.
September 19th, 2025 at 12:40 pm
lol 1000% agree lol
been there done that since year 1 too, its the Creamsickle curse lol
Yes crappy loser winless unis. lol
Hopefully they can get out alive and win for the first time ever in those things GO BUCS!!!!

@Obvious One Says
You’re right. Our pass rush, or lack there of, is like Santa Claus…I need to see it to believe it.
And let’s not even get started with our history against back-up QBs who are also mobile.
Joe, what time does the bar open?
September 19th, 2025 at 12:45 pm
And then I hope he has another revenge kind of game against Philly next week!
September 19th, 2025 at 12:46 pm
i think he s playing way better than the guy he replaced he’s constantly around the ball, he’s getting tackles closer to getting home while being held by opponents o line, he still has a chance at double digit sacks, big upgrade from jts!! but he’s not micah parsons
September 19th, 2025 at 1:31 pm
Haason apparently has one of the top pressure rates in the league right now. That’s clearly something, but hopefully it leads to sacks, turnovers, or drive killers. He’s not bad, but he’s not yet the person he was before landing on the Jets.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:38 pm
Cynful90 OUR DEFFENSE LOOKS SLOW AND DOES NOT LOOK THAT GOOD AT ALL. THIS ARTICLE WAS ABOUT REDDICK SO I LEFT THE REST OUT. IF THE DEFENSE PLAYS THIS WAY AGAINST PHIILY THEY ARE TOAST! OFFENSE AS WELL, AT LEAST THEY HAVE A SEMI EXCUSE FOR THE POOR PLAY.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:00 pm
CAPSFAN4LIFE…as is right now Philly is going to roll this team over.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:02 pm
A lot of haters on this site…..doom and glooms…..
Get real, we are 2 wins 0 losses, how quickly we forget this brand had a chronic loser mentality for most of it’s history, and so many times over the years we would find anyway to lose a game and be sitting at 0-2 and the haters would already be calling for the head for the coach and suggesting we tank for the top pick in the draft…. There is a lot of fight in this team and I am looking forward to how they respond to the next man up brand of dogfight football….LFG BUCS
September 19th, 2025 at 3:54 pm
Great game for Reddick to record multiple sacks.
September 19th, 2025 at 4:28 pm
I expect a hard fought game this week against the Jets. Yes, the injury bug is biting us again. If we truly were/are a serious champion team then everyone has to bring it this week. Now the character of this team is being tested. The coaches also have their work cut out for them.
Go Bucs!!
September 19th, 2025 at 5:01 pm
Go look at my previous post, Joes. You can bet Bowles remembers his tenure (?) with the Jets. Talk about a BS run franchise. Sounds like it still is. Grizzard and ST will win this game. Why? The strongest part of the Bucs right now is the Offense. Defense is getting there, but they have a lot of young players. Plus, check out the team injuries over the last few years. Grizzard has the offense. He has to protect BM. They have to put together a game plan that emphasizes the offense. Go Bucs!! 3-0!!
September 19th, 2025 at 5:38 pm
Riddick played against a 3rd stringer week 1 and Houston has a terrible offensive line. If he sniffs 5 sacks this season I’ll be shocked
September 19th, 2025 at 8:11 pm
Aqualung
Honest question. Do you wish to be takens seriously here. How about some serious posting instead of the never ending vendetta against Bowles.
It’s making you look petty and honestly not very informed.
Reddick dropped into coverage 10% of the time. Honest question Aqua. Are you even aware of how NFL teams play defense? Do you even know the difference between a 4-3 and 3-4 defense? Are you aware that Bowles primarily plays the latter?
If you’re aware of all that why your total ignorance about coverage responsibilities in a 3-4 Defense. AGAIN Lung some education for you. YOu could have googled yourself but I doubt you want to hear anything that MIGHT validate anything Todd has ever done. Like appropriate to this post…being the last NYJ Coach to post a winning record. Guess he just got LUCKY with one of the 3-4 worst franchises in the NFL.
OK Lung pay attention please…and remember Reddick is a smaller athletic FAST OLB!
Yes, outside linebackers (OLBs) (OLBs) in the NFL do play pass defense, although their specific responsibilities vary based on the team’s defensive scheme and their own individual skill set. While they are often known for pass-rushing or stopping the run, they are also responsible for dropping into pass coverage and defending against quick outside routes like slants, curls, and flat routes.
Specifics on OLB Pass Defense
3-4 Defense: In a 3-4 defense, OLBs act as edge rushers who are also responsible for dropping into pass coverage. They are designed to blitz the quarterback but also have to cover areas like the flats.
Versatility is Key: Modern NFL OLBs are often versatile, meaning they need to be able to do it all: pressure the quarterback, stop the run, and drop into pass coverage.
September 19th, 2025 at 8:59 pm
He pretty much just drops in coverage …… could we for the love of football have Anthony Nelson with his length and reach doing that and let Reddick rush
September 19th, 2025 at 9:48 pm
Eckwood
“He pretty much just drops in coverage …”
Don’t have the stats for Houston but in game one he most certainly did not “just drop into coverage”!
Haason Reddick dropped into pass coverage six times during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2025 season opener, according to JoeBucsFan. This equates to 10% of the 60 snaps Reddick played in the game, an unusually low percentage for the premier pass rusher.
So AI says Bowles dropped Reddick into pass coverage LESS the normal.
I like Anthony Nelson but he’s a totally different animal, different skill sets and far less “athleticism” than Reddick
Nelson is 6-7 271 Reddick is 6-1 240 and runs a 4.52 40 which is a full .3 faster than Nelson. .3 in the 40 is a major diffeence in speed along with the increased athleticism over a LARGE 6-7 271 lb player when trying to cover another player.

Me too, Joe. Me too.

@stpetebucsfan
In around 2 years I’ve yet to see any of the “Todd Blowes” is the villian crowd show much in the way of X’s x O’s knowledge.
Worse yet they have shown an unwillingness, or inability to, digest the information presented by others that’s outside of their bigoted viewpoint or even use google to fact check themselves.
For Gods sake if you’re going to bit&% about the defense non-stop show me you’ve at least taken a little time to learn a little about NFL defenses.
If you’re going to gripe about a coach also being a coordinator, at least tell me you know that it’s widespread in the NFL.
Anyway, you know already what to expect from old whats his name….and it won’t be answers to your questions or a logical discussion – lol.
