New Atlanta Just Like Old Atlanta

September 7th, 2025

Talks Atlanta preparation.

A new season often brings new things for every team.

But for Bucs inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis, the old Dixie Chicks won’t be much different than the next Dixie Chicks.

Dennis didn’t face Atlanta last year. He was hurt in Week 5 after five snaps and missed not just the rest of the season, but also both games against the Dixie Chicks.

Dennis has seen quite a bit of tape on Atlanta. And he doesn’t expect much of a difference at all with the Dixie Chicks.

“It helps out a lot,” Dennis said that the team is similar. Raheem Morris is still the head coach. Zac Robinson is still the offensive coordinator. Bijan Robinson is still the workhorse of the offense and Drake London is still the key threat in the passing game.

“They don’t change much,” Dennis told Joe.

That was not a knock on Atlanta at all. Dennis told Joe coaches and players don’t change their spots very often. There may be new wrinkles and new plays but tendencies and talent don’t deviate that often.

Joe asked him if the offense would change now that Atlanta’s first-round pick in 2024, Michael Penix, is the starting quarterback. Dennis said the biggest thing about that is you have to adjust to facing a left-handed thrower and mindset. Dennis added he has to keep that information “in the back of my head.”

But, Dennis said, an offensive coordinator isn’t going to rebuild his offense just because of a different quarterback.

    Go get em Voss…

Start this season off with a statement game. 10 tackles and an Interception!

Two of our biggest problems last season were at ILB, and OLB. Bucs only move to address that this offseason was signing Reddick, and hoping Dennis is the next great Bucs linebacker. They did draft Walker, but few first round edge rushers produce, Walker was a small school 25 year old 5th round pick. Bucs could’ve signed Zar Alexander. They could’ve traded for Hendrickson, or some other vets. They’re banking on Reddick, YaYa, and Braswell becoming something. They’re hoping Dennis stays healthy, and plays well, really we just haven’t seen enough of him to tell. Licht is betting on his guys. We can all only hope he doesn’t come up snake eyes. Today is the first game we get to find out. Go Bucs.

All your points are very valid. It comforts me a bit however to realize that the rest of the league, perhaps save the Eagles, are in the same boat.

I think any SB year requires all the talent having career or near career years, bounces going the right way, and perhaps most importantly LUCK. And when I say LUCK I’m not primarily talking about bounces or officials calls, I’m talking about health. IMHO Injuries will be what truly determine how far the Bucs go, they have the talent.

    So are we feelin’ lucky?

Will be keeping an ear out for this young man. Also, Larry Parrish. And can we please not be the walking wounded this season????? You bet luck plays a huge part!

Pretty sure Walked was drafted in the 4th but still all valid points

Back when the Bucs had a legit defense with a real head coach and awesome full time defensive coordinator, the Falcons had a QB by the name of Michael Vick. The Bucs were coached so well, no one ever heard about it being different because he was left handed. They knew what to do, had a brilliant game plan, executed it, and they owned Vick and the Falcons in those days.

Todd is too smart to watch tape of those games and coach up his players accordingly, though. Can’t be a genius if you use ideas from earlier successes.

Aqualung: It’s a new season. Please stop whining. Thanks.

Vick was the very definition of a mobile quarterback. Penix is not that, he is a pocket quarterback. With Vick, Monte Kiffin used Derrick Brooks as a spy and Derrick made sure Vick was always getting hit before going out of bounds. Vick was averse to contact and Derrick made sure he got alot of it

I was at some of the games in the old Georgia Dome, as my company transferred me there for 8 years. But I still proudly wore my #99 Warren Sapp jersey and my wife wore her Joe Jurvicious jersy. And most of the time the Bucs beat Vick and the Falcolns. Alot of other Bucs fans there, including the late Big Nasty and his crew.

    Go Bucs – LFG!!!!

LOTS of frustrated Dixie Chicks fans!

Oh – and I hope we take a page from Monte and whack Penix whenever we can…
