Bucs Culture Impresses Anthony Walker

June 13th, 2025

New Bucs inside linebacker Anthony Walker has been on playoff teams with Indianapolis and Cleveland. So he knows what good is.

So what is good in Walker’s eyes? The Bucs’ organization.

Naturally, Walker was tipped off by his old friend Lavonte David about the team. It’s a big reason why Walker is here. So the Bucs’ culture really isn’t a surprise to him.

What Walker found out when he arrived is the culture is the best he’s ever experienced.

“I’ve been on some really good teams,” Walker said yesterday. “I love the way they do things here from top to bottom.

“All the guys, the coaches, the offensive coaches, defensive coaches – it’s a real family-organization here. I’m excited to be here.”

How impressed is Walker? He doesn’t want to play for any other organization. When he hangs up his cleats, Walker hopes the Bucs are his final team.

“I told Lavonte I want to finish my career here so I’m excited to just join it and play my role in helping this team win,” Walker said.

Another cool thing about Walker, he said he wants to be an NFL coach. Last year with the Dolphins, he joined the staff of his old high school Monsignor Pace and became the school’s defensive coordinator. (Yes, Joe asked him about his youth coaching career.)

Walker knew the right people there. His dad, Anthony Walker, Sr. is the head coach. So each day after Dolphins’ practice, Walker, a Northwestern grad, had to race to help run practice.

Walker admitted that was kind of tough, practicing for his NFL team and then minutes later coaching a high school defense. But to Joe, that demonstrates his devotion to the game.

Something tells Joe that Walker will be a really good glue guy in the locker room.

And yet another guy that’s been around the league, comes in and praises the uniqueness and quality of this organization. A tribute to ownership, the GM, coaches, and players. Go Bucs!

    BEAT ATLANTA!

  2. Kenton Smith Says:

Let me get this straight. A Northwestern grad. His father the head coach of his high school alma mater. He coached the defense! at his old high school last fall. He’s played on multiple NFL playoff teams. Friend of LaVonte David. And Joe, a great veteran locker room presence in this young locker room. This team means serious business. This year. And I ain’t whistling Dixie!

  3. LouisFriend Says:

Seems like a really good guy. Not a guy who’s going to stand out, but a great backup (especially compared to 2024) in case of injury.

Not a lot of highlight stuff from his career, but one of his 4 career INTs was from Baker Mayfield, so they have something to jaw about. DeShaun Watson gave him a rolex in exchange for his jersey number in Cleveland – Walker should’ve asked for a whole lot more.

  4. ModHairKen Says:

That he coached while playing is all I needs to read to know this is a good man.

Imagine being in high school, and your position coach is an NFL player. Not a retire one. An active one.

  5. Teacherman Says:

We are so lucky to be Bucs fans.

We have a team to be proud of.

Thank you Glazers for sticking with Licht.

Thank you Bruce Arians for coaching the Bucs and giving us Todd Bowles.

Thank you Licht for building an honorable culture in Tampa.

    It started with Tony Dungy.

    And it continues until today.

    Go Bucs!!!

  6. Hodad Says:

I came away impressed after listening to his presser after practice. Another good dude. Came away impressed with Reddick too. Everyone was screaming for edge, and ILB for the draft. Oh, Dennis is healthy. Yeah, I’d say Licht brought in the right vets, at the right spots. Drafted two, but added another vet corner. This team should be in the SB conversation.

  7. Saskbucs Says:

If the Bucs stay healthy and don’t drink their own kool-aid, they are 100% in the SB conversation.

I can’t be convinced otherwise. There are no holes on this roster. Mix of SB winning vets and hungry young guys is a SB recipe.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Hodad…I prefer they stay under the radar.

  9. Obvious Says:

Most of the praise should go to Bowles for developing an environment where this is possible. Especially after changing out QBs and all the older players for younger.

Of course Jason gets credit for identifying the right players.

  10. buc4evr Says:

Just think this team is about three players on the defense away from being a SB contender. Let’s hope Walker turns out to be one of these players.

  11. BuccaDAWG Says:

I like that he is recommended & a close friend of Lovonta’s. That tells me the guy is a count on Mr type player. Plus I like that he wants to be a Buc, not just here for the money. Walker is gonna be a big improvement over the past years.

  12. GoneGator Says:

Loved what the dude said about Cade 🤣
    And the culture 😎

  13. Beeej Says:

Love this guy already. You don’t coach high school to make money

  14. Obvious One Says:

All the Credit for the construction of this team is Solely and Wholy due to One Man and one only. And we ALL know who that is. If you don’t know or are SADLY MISTAKEN, let me Clear it Up for You!

His name is Jason Licht… Creating heck, Sculpting the ENTIRE ORG for a Lump of Unsuccessful Clay. And it’s Not Frank, Bob, or Todd. They plays a part and That’s All. They’ll be gone eventually and the Spiritual Leader will still be making magic. I hope for Many More Years….

And if I were to give credit to ANYONE besides Licht, that would be Bruce Arians for showing Licht “the Rest of the way” to build a success. Licht was already on his way but he Was standing at the crossroads.

Make No mistake about it though as it’s Well Known that Jason Licht Convinced Bruce Arians to lead this team! Jason Licht brought him Out of Retirement.
Jason Licht had built a Strong enough team by HIMSELF in order to sway Arians, Licht and Arians convinced Brady to do the Unthinkable. They Brought THE GOAT! And With the Strong Team JASON LICHT had Already Built and the addition of a couple of guys that Brady convinced (Gronk and Brown) we WON the SUPER BOWL the VERY FIRST YEAR that we welcomed Brady into the fold!

Jason’s Club (My Beloved Buccaneers) , Bruce’s Coaching And Leadership then went
on to produce a reg season win lose record the Very Next Year and ONLY missed going RIGHT BACK TO THE SUPER BOWL, because the DC’s side of the ball was CONFUSED AGAIN and a guy ran RIGHT BY EVERY DEFENDER because they didn’t know their assignments! Sound familiar?? Can’t seem to communicate as Another RARE, RARE, RARE Super Bowl SLIPPED right though our fingers, untouched for the score and our GLORIOUS SEASON… Went LIMP DEAD AND OVER because “someone”
Some coach couldn’t communicate. Remember THAT!? Sound Familiar?

The Very Next year we were Predicted to Head Right Back to the Super Bowl! Bruce Arians had the LAST heart attack scare that he was willing to gamble on his life and we got a brand new head coach.. Everybody Remember That!
Turned out that our shiny new coach HATED the STUD Arian’s SUPER BOWL WINNING, FRANCHISE RECORD BREAKING WAYS!

Not Only did Bowles DESTROY what worked PERFECTLY as a PROVEN WINNING FORMULA, That shiny new coach had us running UP THE MIDDLE THE ENTIRE SEASON for PUTRID and So Sadly PATHETIC 1yard (excuse me I’m throwing up in my mouth) results that Culminated in RUINING THE BEST QB TO EVER PLAY THE GAME’S LIFETIME RECORD! (Of course that’s Shortly After he ran the Jets into the ground) and the idea of ALL in the KNOW that claimed We Were Headed RIGHT BACK TO THE SUPER BOWL and None of the Rest of us were aware we were about to inherit (forced to) Todd Bowles as the leader of BROKEN HEARTS AND DREAMS, one yard at a time RIGHT UP ALL OF OUR MIDDLES!!!! Losing Record of a year 8 lousy wins WITH A SUPER BOWL ROSTER AND THE “GREATEST OF ALL TIME” THROWING THE BALL! PAULTY! PATHETIC! “HOMER SIMPSON” running the players around like they were the KEY STONE COPS! Crawling across the finish lines AND With No Less Than HELP from Other Loser teams losing so we even made it across… PUKE!

Your Childish Nativity MAKES ME SICK!

    And PLEASE!
If it weren’t for a MASTER CLASS of Drafting and Recruiting and BIG TIME Steering This Ship with No Less Than touch of Genius from Mr. Jason Licht… OMG!

HOW DARE SOME CLOWNS CLAIM OTHERWISE! HOW DARE YOU!

  15. theKINGpeon Says:

Correct… all hail Jason. So grateful to have him as GM. Nobody’s perfect but I honestly can’t think of a single other one that I’d prefer. Even style wise I appreciate the guy. THAT SAID……..

OMFG I HATE IT WHEN I GET this EXCITED ABOUT A BUCS TEAM LOL.
This team looks like it’s going to be fun to watch.
