“Tez Johnson Needs A Podcast”

May 18th, 2025

Pitches a Bucs podcast.

Joe really believes if this guy makes the final-53 this September, he’s quickly going to become a fan favorite.

He may already be.

Who is “he?” That would be rookie receiver/returner Tez Johnson.

The Bucs’ seventh-round pick proved he’s has both the personality and the one-liners to become a star provided he can make the NFL.

Just minutes after the Bucs selected him, Johnson did a Zoom call and he was dropping one-liners right and left. Even after the draft, Bucs assistant general manager Rob McCartney joked how Johnson “lights up a room.”

Then the Bucs released video of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht calling Johnson to welcome him to the Bucs. One of the first things out of Johnson’s mouth was, “What took you so long?”

(Licht had a great comeback. “Well, we didn’t have a sixth-round pick.”)

When Johnson appeared with the local pen and mic club before rookie minicamp, he again was dropping one-liners right and left. This kid is a dream from a marketing perspective.

And it seems even Kay Adams of FanDuel TV recognizes this. Adams showed up this weekend at an NFL rookie symposium of some sort to load up on interviews. Joe is guessing she’s going on vacation soon and the interviews will cover for her prancing across the globe.

There, she apparently crossed paths with Johnson and she took to Twitter to suggest what many already believe.

He sure does. Huge personality. And he’s a good dude, it appears. Funny as heck.

But before he becomes the next Chris Rock, Johnson’s got to become a full-time Bucs receiver/returner. He has to make the team. Then he can discuss becoming a celebrity along the lines of the guys on “The Pivot” or the Kelce Bros.

Joe can sure predict becoming a fan favorite if he makes the team.

He needs to shut up and play.

  2. David Says:

Cobra boy- seriously? Get a clue dude. People are actually capable of speaking and going to work.

  3. Pickgrin Says:

“Joe can sure predict (Tez) becoming a fan favorite if he makes the team.”

Pickgrin predicts that not only will Tez ‘make the team’ – he will have multiple explosive plays in his rookie year…. with at least 3 TDs – 1 of which will come on a punt return….

    Tez has elite stop/cut/start abilities….

Can’t wait to see this young man out there breaking defenders ankles.

  4. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

We’re here rooting for you Tez! Podcasts and football let’s go!! BAAAAAAAAKE

  5. MadMax Says:

7th rd and then Big Dez?….man please….Jason and his scouts know how!

  6. WeDemBoyzFromDaBay Says:

He will most definitely make the team for one main reason in which the TEZ-manian devil has said himself….

“That punt return job is MINE” 💯

If u think he was joking around just stay tuned and see yourself.

    🏴‍☠️💪🔥💯

    Can’t wait

    Cobra

Who wizzed in your Wheaties this morning? That’s beyond negative!!!

Everybody loves a story of the little guy winning out against BIG guys.

  11. Fred Says:

Hopefully he’s not just another Sanders type self hyping loudmouth with five pound chains.

  12. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

From Darden to Palmer and now Tez, we Bucs fans have a recent history of pulling for the underdog late round WR.

Still rooting for Palmer, but don’t be shocked to see him be a Jaguar, Panther or Patriot on Week 1.

P.S. True Bucs fans will always have a soft spot in their heart for Tyler Johnson for just one catch. Yeah, you know the one.

  13. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

How to become a fan fav. Emulate your buddy Bucky. Bucky is a fav without saying a word. Break some ankles on a punt return or after a catch. Then the fans will love your shtick Tez

  14. Joe in Michigan Says:

A reality show of Tez and Dez, if him and Desmond Watson make the team.

  15. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Cobraoldfart I think there are some kids stepping on your lawn right now.

  16. Teacherman Says:

    Cobra Boy.

Fans like you hurt our team.

Your negative energy is toxic on a quantum level.

You should learn from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on how to be a solid human being.

    Cobra boy suits you.

    Because you are clearly venomous.

    God help you.

  17. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Cobraboy needs to shut up, period.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

The little dude ain’t done squat in the NFL but talk.

I value production vastly more than personality.

    Bucs drafted a WR/KR, not a stand-up comedian.

Produce, even in a PS scrimmage, then talk all you want.

I make no apologizes for being Old School.

  19. BootyLover Says:

Cobraboy thinks he’s hotsh!t, probably into self-asphyxiation because only he can satisfy himself.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Oh, I get it: casuals value style over substance.

Prove yourself on the field, then talk all you want.

  21. Cobraboy Says:

    Teacherman:

Nothing I say or do can affect the outcome of one game.

    Nothing.

Lessons from Evans and Godwin? Johnson should take lessons in humility from Evans and Godwin, neither of whom shoot their mouths off, and certainly not before their first joint underwear practice as rooks.

  22. ModHairKen Says:

Tez, Dez and Shilo. Those are some great personalities to add to the roster.

  23. Aqualung Says:

Snowflakes hate it when performance based feedback is given. Cobra speaks good advice for the little feller. As of right now Tezzy is no better than Dexter App State or Jaelen Dardung.

I’m with Cobra on this. Casual snowflakes are the ones who hurt the team by being satisfied with mediocrity and lousy defense.

  24. Vanessa Anne Says:

    No.

Tez Johnson DOES NOT need a podcast.

    Not yet, anyway.

He needs to focus on making the team and taking his game to the next step from college to the pros.

Then he can worry about a podcast.

And judging from what we’ve seen and heard, he’ll be pretty good at both.

In the meantime, I’ll join the chorus calling for him to follow the examples of Mike and Chris.

  25. Bucsarg Says:

Tez can and does play football. He is a little dawg but he is still a dawg. I don’t think we have to worry about any rookie jamming up the Bucs culture. I think he will make the team and see offensive snap as the season progresses. I won’t be surprised if he ends up being a big play guy on returns. This guys brother is an NFL Starting QB. Tez is a football player from a football family.

  26. BootyLover Says:

Telling a player to “shut up” is what I call snowflake. The dude is 155 lbs, drafted, and currently on a NFL roster. You keyboard tough JBF claim to fame at best in life posters probably quit pee-wee football day one. He’s confident, big f’ing deal.

  27. Cobraboy Says:

Seems Booty Lover does not know my background.

BTW- I tell any player with low or zero production but with a big mouth to shut up and play.

This little dude ain’t done squat in the NFL. Yet.

  28. BootyLover Says:

It’s not like he’s trash-talking other players, there’s a big difference in being a crass hot shot talker like yourself, and a player possessing uber-confidence.

No, I don’t know your background? I doubt you ever sniffed pro. Did you play for the North Texas Armadillos?

  29. FortMyersDave Says:

Let the little guy have his 15 minutes of fame, if he flames out so be it but he might earn a little coin in the meantime to supplement that NIL loot…. If you do not like his outgoing personality, then tune him out, no big deal. Lets see what the kid does in training camp and go from there. I hope he makes the team and makes a few splash plays. I do not immediately dislike the kid because he is vocal and uber confident but at the same time he has to earn a spot on the roster.

  30. FortMyersDave Says:

Booty lover, I agree, he is not doing a “Flashlight” on others like Meshawn Johnson did to Wayne Chrebet.

  31. Aqualung Says:

Just when you think you find the Chairman of the village idjut’s club, another village is discovered that puts forward an even more viable candidate.

  32. BootyLover Says:

“Casual snowflakes are the ones who hurt the team by being satisfied with mediocrity and lousy defense.”

…says the poster that thinks simple comments make an impact on a professional football team. None of us are that important, genius.

  33. LakelandSteve Says:

For a little guy he played big in big games. He’s not the dude from Appalachian State coming to the Bucs based on one game. If he holds up physically against the big boys I think he definitely could be a huge step up in the punt return game and sprinkle in some plays on offense to use his make you miss qualities and Bobs your Uncle.

  34. Shilo Sanders Says:

Imagine a shilo sanders and tez johnson podcast tho
