Trend: Score First On Stinking Panthers And They Lose

January 1st, 2023

Can he shock Bucs fans?

Oh, if the Bucs only had an offensive coordinator.

To be fair, the Bucs often move the ball well on their scripted first series. Scoring points is a different matter.

If ever there was a time for someone on the team to grab failing Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich by the head and shake some urgency into him, now is the time.

This season, per Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis, the Stinking Panthers are 0-6 when opponents score first. What does that tell you? They don’t have the firepower to come from behind, like a poor man’s Titans.

But as Leftwich himself would say in his own folksy vernacular, we do what we do. And this year, that’s having a galling underachieving offense, not scoring early and losing more than you win.

Being a conservative defensive minded coach, Bowles has the Bucs playing Prevent Offense

If Brady wants to win they will start off in Hurry up just to establish points early.

Is it so much to ask to have more than 1 scripted series?

  8. NEfan Says:

It’s tough to believe they can win when you think of this clown running the O.

  9. BucU Says:

Hope he saved some pennies because Leftwich will be unemployed in 2 weeks.

I remember BL pounding it up the middle repeatedly in preseason of with negligible success, I figured “well, it’s preseason, might a well see what this line can/can’t do” I had no idea he was gonna keep doing that the entire season

  11. 1Gr8Buc Says:

I’ve heard stories from friends who worked at hard rock when he played for us. Everything they have experienced while dealing with BL is showing through in his coaching. He is mostly void of standard/average intelligence and it shows up in his press conferences and on the field.

Glazers need to clean house. Not including Jason Licht for you bozos putting this season on his shoulders.

@Beej. Finally someone else has recognized that training camp and preseason was a precursors to come. The team telegraphed from the beginning what they wanted to do during the season. The OL was a problem from the beginning. They couldn’t run or pass block good enough for the offense to be effective. The lackluster play of the OL is the biggest reason why this team can’t score points. Plain and simple. I know we rag on the coaches, but Licht deserves some blame, and he’s skated from criticism all year. Our OL depth should have been addressed. When Jensen went down, they should’ve brought in a veteran G and C to compete for the LG and C position. Instead, we went with a rookie LG who’s never played the position before and a C who’s never played the position.

We decided to go with two inexperienced interior OL to protect Tom Brady! Everyone knows that QBs hate interior pressure, especially Brady! It was coaching and GM malpractice to send Tom out with that OL. It was doomed to fail. Brady plays with those guys in practice. He knows those guys want stand up in an actual game, so Brady adjust his internal clock before the game.
