“Somebody’s Will Gonna Break And It Ain’t Going To Be Mine”

September 13th, 2022

Leonard Fournette was clear that the Bucs were trying to send a message to the NFL last night.

Smiling on the happy NBC postgame show, Fournette talked about how the Bucs’ running game hasn’t been respected, how Bucs running backs were drilled relentlessly last week to hit holes hard, and how much he worked on zone running all offseason.

Fournette also didn’t back down from a question about playing late in games when an opponent appears broken.

“Going against a big guy [like me] and eventually somebody’s will gonna break, and it ain’t going to be mine,” Fournette said.

Playoff Lenny had plenty of vocal love for rookie left guard Luke Goedeke, and he also shared that he sees Julio Jones as someone a lot like him when he arrived in Tampa from Jacksonville for the 2020 season: written off because of past injuries and being misunderstood.

Playoff Lenny also said he was extra motivated in last night’s season-opener after all the he’s-too-fat talk this summer.

Joe’s just glad Fournette looked he did all through training camp and in preseason, like a bruising beast in his prime and very comfortable in the offense.

He looked damn good last night!

  2. Tye Says:

I haven’t really been big on Fournette BUT if he can continue to repeat his performance from that Cowboys game, He will truly be a great value to the team!

  3. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

    We love you Lenny.
You kicked the crap out of Micah Parsons, on that play.
And you run with passion & heart.
    We appreciate you man.
    GO BUCS.

  4. Outsider Says:

He’s looking a lot more like his rookie self from 2017, doesn’t do the shuffle behind the line anymore and hits the hole hard.

  5. captivajim Says:

lenny really does run with passion & heart…..too bad darden dosen’t !!!!!

  6. SOEbuc be Says:

This is a team fired up like 2020 except with experience now.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Leonard looked as good as he’s looked with the Bucs on Sunday night. Drafting White was big – unlike Vaughn who never looked like an NFL running back, White looked like, and talked like, someone who is coming in to take Lenny’s job. Meanwhile, Fournette was responded well to that challenge, and he’s raising the bar for both guys.

I have not been a fan of Lenny up until this point, but if he devotes the season to becoming the true power back he is supposed to be, who physically smashes and intimidates opponents, then he will earn my support.

I hope the entire team is physical in a way that it has not been. Starting with the Saints. Who we all know are gearing up with bounties.

  9. TheShaz Says:

Fornette can run hard, abuse defenses. And he can pass block pretty well for a RB.

Right Micah Parsons? Micah? Micah?? Put the tissue down. Oh come on! Von Miller?!?! You too?

  10. PassingThru Says:

Fournette was impressive, and it was a nice surprise that some of those play calls were for him to run outside rather than between the tackles. This O Line is better at run blocking than pass protection, so it makes a lot of sense to lean on that capability whenever practicable.

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

Lenny fits perfectly with this offense.

  12. BucU Says:

Awww poor little Micah and Von got their feelings hurt because you got put on your ass on national TV.
You both look pathetic w those ridiculous tweets.
This should be banned!! How utterly embarrassing and foolish you both look. You think we’re just gonna sit back and allow u chumps to tee off on our 3rd string o linemen with impunity??
    Think again a holes.

  13. orlbucfan Says:

Fournette was a good player when he was a Jag. The losing got to him. He’s also a team player and gives the praise his OL, etc. deserve. I’m glad he came here and helped our fortunes change and got his SB ring. I’m still chuckling over his tackle on Parsons. Ole Micah is bellyaching over that?? I’m glad CG14 will miss the cheating Aints next Sunday. I hope the Bucs bury that bunch.

  14. Ash Says:

Lenny looked good but he gave that game ball to the oline for a reason thats the best I have seen the run blocking in a while. Go bucs!!!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It was the Luke & Lenny show…..and we need it again Sunday….

  16. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I agree 100% with Rod Munch!
That Block on Parsons will go down in history as one of the best plays in Bucs History!

  17. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ya see what happens when BA disappears? Brady knew it that’s why he had him banished. Fournett has always been a bull but what impressed me more was his patience finding the hole. Lenny is the real deal let’s hope Bucs don’t kill him before the end of the season, that was some hard running. He took the D’s will away. The additions to the secondary were clearly noticed.

  18. Craig Says:

So nice to see a grown up Lenny.

  19. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Better protect your knees on Sunday, Lenny!

  20. Mike Says:

Keep running like that and we will have to call him the “F Train”

  21. Cali Mike Says:

    LENNY BIG TIME!!!!

  22. Crickett Baker Says:

    Landmark Lenny!

  23. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Shaq Mason was a big part of the running game too
