Coronavirus Delays Could Help Jameis

March 13th, 2020

It’s very possible that the NFL will delay the start of free agency, and that could be great for America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Sadly, most of the sports world has shut down because of the pandemic sweeping the globe.

(Of course, the 12-year, no-snooze-on-Bucs-fans rule remains in effect at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters. The fridge is stocked with Big Storm beer and Burger Monger leftovers.)

Jameis wants every football lover to know he’s recovering from a significant knee surgery. If you missed it, Jameis released a video showcasing his recovery early this week.

The timing was odd. The fact the video didn’t show him healthy, running and cutting was curious. And while it was nice to see Jameis working hard, it felt like a desperate move from an incompetent public relations team. It certainly wasn’t a video that would inspire a team to hand him many tens of millions in guaranteed cash at the start of free agency next week.

However, if free agency is delayed six weeks, for example, that might buy Jameis enough rehabilitation time to have no problem passing a team physical anywhere, as well as provide time for him make a new video displaying feats of strength and agility without a knee brace.

Joe really thinks the state of Jameis’ health could impact his market value. The Bucs have been so secretive about Jameis’ knee injury and subsequent surgery; it makes Joe wonder what’s really going on.

Vote for TOM or TAMPA TEDDY! See ya Winston *throws up the deuce sign*
Also thanks a lot to that guy who killed my anticipation and hope leading up to the new uniforms…at this point idc what they wear i just want to win babyyyy

  2. Dewey Selmon Says:

“If 32 QB’s get coronavirus Jameis might have a job”. John McKay.

  3. Defense Rules Says:

    Two thoughts?

1 – “The fridge is stocked with Big Storm beer and Burger Monger leftovers.” Shame on you Joe. You missed the perfect opportunity to show yourself eating those leftovers in a Bill Curie Ford.

2 – “The Bucs have been so secretive about Jameis’ knee injury and subsequent surgery; it makes Joe wonder what’s really going on.” Aahh yes, it’s good to see that conspiracy theories are alive & well & living at JBF World Headquarters.

  4. Robert Says:

“recovering from a significant knee surgery.”

CMON MAN…….. I’ve had two full ACL’s done and an MCL.

    MCL aint nuttin!

    is this NDOG or TMAX?

  5. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

Why?? Every team & player knows who they want or where they want to go and all negotiations can be via phone. And, this is 2020 and Bank Drafts are done every day. No need to delay Free Agency.

  6. Pewter power Says:

Winston may just want to leave Tampa, pricing yourself out is one way, getting surgery on your eyes also. Maybe hew made or known he wants to move on which is why Winston is the last option. He doesnt want to be here and if they csnt find another qb they’d have to franchise him.

Not really sure but can only hope, I would like too see free agency delayed until after the draft this year.

  7. SteveK Says:

How did Jameis only win 15 home games in 5 years?

Why did Jameis throw 24 INTs in 8 home games last year?

How can we expect to make the playoffs with a QB that doesn’t win at home, nor takes care of the ball?

  8. thisisouryear!! Says:

That’ll give Jameis time to get his nose done. He wasn’t getting enough oxygen and that was definitely the cause of the poor decision making. Go Jameis!! No more crabby Jameis with the increased oxygen flow to his brain!! YES!!

  9. 813bucboi Says:

the rona shouldnt stop teams and agents picking up the phone or using skype to making/complete a deal…..lol….

cant they fax the contract over, have the player sign it and fax it back?….

i remember a time when a player wasnt able to sign because his fax didnt make it in time for the deadline…..

    GO BUCS!!!!

  10. Pewter power Says:

This society is so petty and sensitive people would complain about guys signing big contracts during a pandemic as if they should stop living their lives or should make less money. Only reason to delay, what billionaire owner of a team does not have a private plane to go get their man? You shouldn’t own a team

  11. Tye Says:

I guess I can see where ‘Jameis fans’ are concerned with his future..
It may be that even if he were 100% no team wants his services…
He may be looking at an early exit out of the NFL with his reputation and reckless playing.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

How can we expect to make the playoffs with a QB that doesn’t win at home, nor takes care of the ball?

    easy steve k!!!!!!!

draft the top o-linemen, d-linemen, CB, RB, WR, FS, SS, LB, TE in THIS years draft….

hire bob belichit(bill’s mastermind twin brother) to run the defense

hire kurt shanahann(kyle’s mastermind twin brother)

run the ball 50times a game like the titans

burn off 3minutes of clock in the 4th quarter like vrable did vs NE

do that and we go 19-0 every year JWs out QB…..LOL…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. chris L Says:

i really hope they dont delay free agency. we were supposed to know march 10th originally what was going to happen. more waiting and waiting will be agonizing enough for buc fans. we just want to know what the plan is going forward. monday cant get here soon enough.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

    STEVEK

the funny thing is, folks talk about teddy being “check down charley” but they want a “3rd down back with great hands” so JW can “check it down”…lol…

theres been underneath routes and RBs in the flat for JW to check down to all season but instead he forces the pass down field into double coverage…..lol….and when its picked off, its the fault of WR…or the o-line…or play caller…or wind…..lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. NPRSageBoy. Says:

If the NFL delays free agency, it’s only logical that the draft gets moved as well.

Since I’ve already convinced myself that Bucs are moving of from JayMiss, any delay in a free agency decision only forestalls the inevitable.

    Peace, out

  16. SteveK Says:

    Good stuff 813!!!

  17. Pete I Says:

    Very funny stuff.

After reading Silly Joe’s newest line of “reasoning” I feel like now, everytime my knee hurts, I can do something really stupid and have the perfect excuse.

    Whew.

  23. Buccernutter Says:

  24. Greg Says:

OH MY GOD!!!! When will this site stop with the LUST FOR THE BUST!!! Its over Joe. I told you he was the wrong pic in 2015. Time to move on.

  25. BrianDorry55 Says:

SIX WEEKS!? Fml. I’m literally logging off if that happens.

  26. Ndog Says:

I 100% believe that Jameis is long gone and I couldn’t be more disgusted with this franchise. Yes I am pissed that we are going to go with a less talented QB BUT more importantly I am embarrassed with how they have treated a member of their team.

For the first time in my life I can say it will be hard to get excited about this team in 2020. Again just so we are all clear THE ONLY WAY moving on from Jameis will be considered a success will be if we win the Superbowl.

I know you are all going to rip me, all I can say is this franchise needs more fans that care about this team like me than they do losing fans like me.

  27. SteveK Says:

We will get better QB play.

    Potential doesn’t win games.

Lack of accountability for turnovers will get coaches fired.

Three coaches down, and BA said I’m not going to be the fourth.

    Go Bucs!

    Fire the cannons!

Winston can walk the FA Plank!!!! Arrrrrrgh!!!! 🏴‍☠️

  28. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

    you’re full of sh!t….lol…

if JW returns, THE ONLY WAY 2020 will be considered a success will be if we win the Superbowl.

    do you agree with that?…..

of course you dont….with JW we could go 7-9 again as long as he has 33TDs and 5k passing right?….because thats what matters right?…stats not wins…

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  29. SteveK Says:

    Sorry, NDog,

Jameis just turned the ball over too much to get a second contract. I know it breaks your heart, and I don’t want to be mean about anything. I hope you can be objective and see that a successful season, 9 wins would tie Winston’s 5 year high water mark- or even playoffs would be a major step up.

I bust your chops bc I firmly believe you lack objectivity. You would rather lose with posts of points and turnovers than win while protecting the ball better. I’d rather win and the soonest way to that is by letting Jameis walk.

  30. SteveK Says:

More turnovers than touchdowns says it all. Move on.

Get the eff out of here with this nonsense. You had no issue with how the Bucs treated Gerald McCoy a year ago. They were using the same language and playing this same game in the media and you were A-OK with it.

If 7-9 isn’t good enough get a running game, kicker, secondary and oline.

hard to develop a run game when your QB continues to toss INTs minutes into the 1st quarter….lol…

    we drafted a kicker…2 actually…1 being JWs FSU buddy….lol…

we drafted secondary…they have talent and improved as the season went on….

    we drafted and signed oline….

and then guess what….we drafted defense and signed defensive FAs…..

we even fired not 1 but 2 coaches…..

and then hired a QB whisper that has the biggest staff in the nfl along with 3coaches just for JW…..

so yeah, its easier to find a QB that doesnt finish in the top5 throwing INTs each year he plays 16games vs dumping everyone….. lol….

and is see you never responded……

if JW returns, THE ONLY WAY 2020 will be considered a success will be if we win the Superbowl.

thats your problem…you dont hold JW to the same standard as you hold others while gives JW excuse after excuse…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  46. Craig Says:

I don’t think anything can help Jameis. He has had three coaches and still melted down in the last two games.

In those games the defense was lights out and the run game was almost strong.

What happened to Jameis in those games?

That is what others will be looking at. Covid-19 isn’t going to change it, it is history.

The only one the delay will help is the Cowboys, they might be able to sign Dak.

I think that treatment goes both way as teammates. Players, Coaches, Owners. When the AZ uber “hassel” came up. Did ownership, Coaches and Players hear the truth from the main person involved? No they did not. That as a fan is embarrassing. Who again was not being factual in the explanations of these actions?

  59. Mitch Says:

If the CBA is not approved soon, will the NFL retract their offer? Think about it.

With everything going on with the virus, the economy is plunging. That has to affect advertising revenues, which as due to be renegotiated soon. If the NFL see’s a potential drop in income, maybe they’ll withdraw the CBA offer if it is not approved yet…give the playerrs a lot less.

  64. gotbbucs Says:

How have they been secretive about his knee? They dont talk about him because as far as they’re concerned he’s not their problem anymore.
They wished him well and said don’t let the door hit you on the way out. It’s as simple as that.
He’s having these surgeries without consulting Bucs officials. That’s why Arians had nothing to say about Winston’s knee or eye.

  69. D1 Says:

Winston never reported the knee injury so either He or the Bucs violated NFL league rules if the injury was serious. To answer the expected reply, no its not common for teams to violate reporting injuries. This isn’t the only case where winston was less than forthcoming with the team. So , it’s not possible to extend the benefit of doubt to winston in this situation.

The thumb was reported week 14. Winston playing with cancer, coronvirus and one leg along with no thumb in addition to Missing his 2 pro bowl receivers , managed to, miraculously and courageously, amass of 1000 yards in air. 1-0-0-0. Again, that’s one thousand yards passing with more excuses dragging behind him than a wins.

A quick scan of Winston’s professional and college career stats and you’ll not find any 3 game span where he has passed for 1000 + yards. The only logical explanation is that either these injuries , although numerous and fatal to the average joes, are hyperinflated bovine fecal material. Or, it’s a window into the future , as the team will now deliberately inflict injuries upon winston to improve his play.

At least the riddle has been solved And jameIs will no longer be forced to endure another painful press conference, post loss, with that blank expression plastered on his youthful 26 year old face and roboticly, reply “I just got to do better”. 2020 jameis can truthfully answer, with great conviction, any questions with ..”I just need to get polio or my teammates will find a limb to break off before the Browns game”.

    Winston is 2020 in 2020.

  70. Ghettos of Siberia Says:

    813

Are you certain #3 would not fumble the clipboard ?????

  71. Ivan The Insider Says:

Can we please stop praising Jameis Winston for playing out the season if he was truly hurt with his thumb issue or his knee?

We were out of the playoff chase and there would be no reason for Winston to risk further injury by demanding to play.

So if he truly was hurt and he insisted to continue playing, then he’s an IDIOT and the Bucs should definitely NOT bring him back.

A smart QB has to know when to sit with injuries and when not to. Winston is no hero if he truly played hurt and risked further injury just to pad his 2019 season stats when the team was out of the playoffs.

  77. MirrorMirrowOnTheWall Says:

The best thing for Jameis is to be released from the Buccaneers.

  78. D1 Says:

    Stpete,

    Thank you.

The questionable timing and seriousness of Winston’s knee and thumb injuries, instantly brings a similar situation to mind. Winston’s shoulder injury in his 3rd season.

Fans were busy squabbling over Winston’s play and there was the usual suspects claiming winston was hurt week 2. But there’s nothing in the league reports that back up that claim . But a surprisingly honest moment from koetter, when he an offhand comment and basically confirmed winston lied to the team and coaches about the severity and time of the injury.

There’s been a concerted effort to protect winston by the team. Fact is, it’s been remarkably successful. From an organizational perspective, there’s been very few times when someone has dropped the ball and said something different from the party line.

I just tried to highlight the absurdity of the situation.

I want to here yall blame every thing on the new quarterback for every lost . BA is full of it bro and all yall bought into his fake I want to win a championship with no running game . Now when he was with the Cardinals I think he tried to win . People talk your ass off, hate Jameis all you want Jameis will get a starting job in the NFL next season. I’ve heard a couple of NFL analysts compare Jameis first 5 years in the league to P Manning . Most of the analysts are just running their mouths so I did some research and guess what, Jameis numbers are a tad better. I think what pisses the coaches off with Jameis is just throw the damn ball away don’t try to make every play into a big play

  84. SteveK Says:

Where will Jameis start next year? Name one team?

  85. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

^^ I would love to see it, SteveK, but I just don’t. I think a great landing spot for him would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. He could sit behind Ben for a little while, sort of hit re-set for awhile… and watch a guy who plays his brand of football.. with a few less mistakes. I could see him as a Steeler and would definitely be pulling for him.

Well as long as it does not interfere with the BUCS, of course.

I with it had worked here, I really do.
I just think it is best for them both to part ways at this point.

  86. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

  87. D1 Says:

    Stevebobucsfan,

People have been comparing Peyton Mannings numbers with Winston’s for some time now. Nothing new to that idea.

The numbers totals for yds, TD’S /INT’s are comparable. And? What does the numbers provide . In other words, what information is or can be derived from these numbers?

Well, it’s obvious that there is a group of fans who , upon hearing these numbers run right to their keyboards and hold up these stats as evidence winston is going to be hall of fame material . His trajectory is on par with the great ones. We’d be foolish to let him go.

Problem is the numbers say no such thing. That’s wholly upon the individual interpretation. Frankly, it’s a fool who would take such a flawed stat as predictive in nature. But considering how few people possess the ability to understand raw data or even what it means, it’s quite understandable that this superficial statistical similarity would be used incorrectly.

Simply, the peyton v Jameis comparison is useless.

  88. Buc_You Says:

Peyton compared to Lameis is a facimile argument bearing no substance. The league was totally different then it was harder to throw on teams back then. Again we could also compare Jameis to Farve for similar reasons but, the rules were in favour of the defenses back then. It’s the other way around now do we need to improve the line certainly.Do we need a better run game absolutely but to expect different results from the same dummy at QB is the definition of insanity.

  89. Old School Athlete Says:

Anyone comparing Jameis to Peyton Manning should self-quarantine for 300 years.
