“I Want That Sh*t Off”

March 26th, 2019

Things are going to be very different around One Buc Palace when players report for work next week, and Bucco Bruce Arians confirmed to Joe today that they’ll be a lot quieter, too.

A majority of NFL practices feature blaring music. It’s a pet peeve of Arians and he’s said many times it was something that stunned him when he was a broadcaster last year attending various NFL practices around the country.

Even Belichick, Arians noted.

Arians had said he might have to consider it for his practices, so Joe asked the head coach today whether a decision was made on music, at least for the upcoming spring training sessions known as OTAs.

JoeBucsFan.com: Have you made a decision on music in OTAs?

Bruce Arians: It won’t be in OTAs. Too much teaching going on.

Joe: Silence.

Arians: Yeah, I mean I want that sh*t off so I can tell this guy what to do.

So there you have it. Arians is a very progressive coach in many ways, but don’t mess with his valuable practice time and anything that takes away from teaching, a theme he repeated in many ways this morning at the NFL Owners Meetings in Arizona.

So is BA gonna take the ping pong table in the locker room that the equipment manager (Dirks Boy) and continuously plays, then betting the players trying to make money on them out of the locker room too??? Cause he snitches on the players to LICHT.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

How about a compromise…..a little Al Green…..a bit of Sinatra…..maybe the Monkees or the Kinks…..

  3. FlBoy84 Says:

    Teaching???? What a novel idea….

  4. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

The least of the bucs problems is hearing music at practice, maybe start by practicing like winners. Need to crawl first

  5. Pistol Pete Says:

How about run this thing like the business is hasn’t been since Chucky left. Tail has been wagging the dog….dude means business. Listen to music in the weight room.
    Pistol

  6. Buc4life24 Says:

I second removing that damn ping pong table…make them earn it!

  7. Not there yet Says:

Mental errors are too much of an issue with this team and it all starts in practice so yeah makes sense not to be blasting music if your teaching guys how to play football the right way. Might as well make the change, practice isn’t supposed to be fun

  8. Rod Munch Says:

He’s a chip off the Ray Perkins tree, because he literally is.

Anywho I agree with him, a bunch of music when you’re supposed to be practicing and learning stuff is moronic. Now in the gym room, when you’re just exercising, who cares, but once you step on the field it should be a professional environment, you should be paying attention.

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

I don’t know about anyone else but, I don’t get to listen to music at work. Most that do probably listen to something on a continuous loop.
Yea, I’d like to throw on some tunes while working…….U2, Aerosmith, Outkast, Alice in Chains, Linkin Park, Bob Marley, Steve Miller, NIN, Jay-Z, Muse, Run DMC, STP, Pearl Jam, Guns & Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers….I mean who doesn’t like a good Cypress Hill song?!
    BUT……………………………………………….I’m at WORK! W-O-R-K!
Or, in the eternal words of Craig’s dad, “JAY-OH-BEE!”

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Most of us…don’t listen to our Sounds at work. Sure, they might have some of that low key elevator music playin softly here and there. But I can’t put on my Allman Bros or Dave Mathews. So if no music is gonna help these guys play better? I’m all for it. Arians will probably compromise a little like during warm ups
or locker room. And he will probably let them play music during some practices.
They can blast their sounds all they want after practice. Lets Win baby!

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Last time I checked there is no loud music played during the game action…..
Can’t see how its helpful at practice.
There could be a continuous loop of Queen’s “We are the Champions”

But, of course, for the Bucs that would be inspirational music.

  12. DBS Says:

But then who has really been allowed to run this asylum to begin with?We will see if they start winning or run off more coaches.

  13. Siege the Bay Says:

    Privileges need to be earned.

  14. Buccernutter Says:

Finally seems like we’re facilitating a working environment instead of a party. Music blasting, Kwon and McCoy dancing, Baker making jokes, djax playing cards in the locker room during practice. People napping during meetings. All that s*** is in the past. No more pushover lovie and stressed out Dirk. Schiano had the right mentality hut the wrong approach.

There’s a reason pats players don’t have fun in foxboro until they win. Cuz it’s a f****** job. We’ve seemed to think it was a field trip for far too long.

  15. Couch Fan Says:

This is no different than Schiano controlling the temperature of the meeting rooms. Lol I like it personally. And no music at practice so they can teach makes perfect sense.

  16. Jamaal Stanley Says:

    Turn that s$&@ off..

  17. ChanEpic Says:

@Siege the Bay – EXACTLY. Let’s get back to basics.

  18. pelbuc Says:

Make the players earn their music.

  19. donuts Says:

Since the 2011 CBA, I have felt the NFL rules regarding practices has reached a point where it is affecting the quality of play on the field.

  20. BringBucsBack Says:

The players don’t want listen to music while they practice. They want to listen to hip-hop. Hence, Bruce’s use of a four letter word in describing what they listen to at practices.

If they must listen to anything, it should be Classical, Baroque, Zappa or any other well developed music. Has no one ever heard of the Mozart effect? Many study’s have shown it literally makes the listener smarter, more cerebral and more focused. If nothing else, it would piss them off enough that they should become more aggressive, anyway. Where is the harm in that?

Can they listen to music during the game? Isn’t it a good practice habit to simulate game day conditions? You perform the way you practice!

  21. The Fighting Schiano’s Says:

Man, I like this guy more and more every day, and I was jazzed when he signed on.

  22. Bob in Valrico Says:

I vote for some loud crowd noise when needed. Maybe a little of the stuff
you might hear at any stadium in the NFl on gameday with a little thunder and lightning soundtrack cause tis is Tampabay.

  23. ChanEpic Says:

BringBucsBack – so you’re saying there are no Bucs who listen to Mozart? They hate it? Also, Hiphop can be great music. I would point you to the Roots as an example.

  24. SteelStudBuc Says:

5-11 record 2 years in a row… they don’t deserve music. Pay attention. This is work.

  25. unbelievable Says:

    @SteelStud @donuts @Siege

    100% !!!

  26. D1 Says:

    ChanEpic,

The idea is not what’s great, that’s subjective. The idea is one is complicated enough to elicit higher brain function the other actually works in the opposite direction. Smarter v dumber..and that’s not entirely accurate but is within the frame of learning.

  27. GrafikDetail.com Says:

@BringBucsBack: Classical, Baroque, & Zappa are CRAP 😂😂😂😂

  28. SenileSenior Says:

One man’s favorite music might be another man’s noisy distraction. We can’t all always be in the mood for the same kind of music over and over again every day either.

I’m guessing any large group of people is impossible to please all of the time.
