Clueless Together

December 23rd, 2018

Somehow, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, was called three times — THREE! — for delay of game today.

That shouldn’t happen to a man making his 53rd NFL start.

How does this happen? How does Dirk Koetter not call timeout in at least one of those situations?

It’s shared blame and, sadly, it reminded Joe of when Josh Freeman was called for delay of game on consecutive plays in the season opener of 2013. Freeman put some blame on his headset microphone, a weak excuse.

But what’s Jameis’ excuse? Hall of Fame QB Troy Aikman was in disbelief on the TV broadcast. Inexcusable, Aikman said, echoing the sentiment of Bucs fans.

Joe was in disbelief in the press box (and at Abe’s Place in Clearwater).

To have that kind of thing happen is an indictment of a lot of people and the mess that is this team.

He should be brought back next year but he is not the quarterback of the future.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Jameis is clueless

  3. Season Is Over Says:

Mr. Magoo gonna bring that swag back in year 5.

Guess America’s Thug can’t tell time

  5. Dre Says:

    THats your quarterback joe lmao

  6. AlteredEgo Says:

Koetter was i n disbelief too….time outs were more important

  7. Jack n Says:

I still think that koetter was relaying plays to monken who then relayed plays to Winston. But still it’s on Winston to know the clock.

  8. tbbucs3 Says:

    Not Belichick-Brady

  9. Mikiebucsfan76 Says:

I think Jameis want out of as Tampa as much as many want him out. Just looked like he wasn’t into the game

  10. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    CLUELESS

I smell QUIT in the coaches lounge of ONE BUC

  11. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I don’t freaking know, it is just comical at this point.

I just pictured Jerruh up there menaically laughing as he messes with the scoreboards playclock.

Crazy stuff. It’s a Bucs Life, Stuck in Succaneer Cove.

  12. WalkdaPlank Says:

This is year 4 in the NFL fir Winston and look how much he has learned

  13. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Yeah Jameis should learn not to hold hahaha

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ouch. Was hoping for a win.

Okay. Well, I posted a new Head Coaching commentary on my page. Click my name to see it. I tried to explore the options as I see them.

  15. Waterboy Says:

I was wondering the same thing. A 4th year QB and a coach that didn’t have the awareness to call a TO! My kids were even laughing at me sitting on the coach screaming timeout.

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

they should make a game like WACK A MOLE

but instead replace the moles with BUCS coaches and players that pisses you off every sunday

atleast then bucs fans can have an outlet for their anger and fustration

  17. Not there yet Says:

Looked like the plays were coming in late but Winston wasn’t looking at the clock either. Bad coaching makes the team look worse than it is.

  18. YucsFan Says:

What good coach wants this gig ??? Umm No one because until Jason and Jamissgo it’s going to be a nightmare

  19. Dkdubb Says:

That last delay of game was weird. They weren’t even lined up until like 5 seconds remaining on the play clock. Not sure why the COACHING STAFF didn’t bother calling a timeout.

  20. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ nice post Bonzai

  21. JimmyJack Says:

The messed up thing about the 2 big ones is that we should have been in hurry up offense that entire series. That may have been our longest drive of the game. We are so dysfuctional.

    Agreed. Shared blame on this.

  22. Patrick Says:

Get us a quarterback that can beat the Cowboys! We haven’t won in Jerryworld since 2001! Our last victory against them was a narrow win against Matt Cassel!

  23. Pitt of misery Says:

Bonzia your out of yout mind Dirt is Dirt he stays it will just get worse

  24. Anonymous Says:

He threw for well over 300 yards under pressure.

  25. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Bonzai good stuff. I like reading your stuff.

I would rather have Harbaugh, Rivera, Richard before McCarthy but that’s just me.

You failed to mention that Richard has been the playcaller for the much improved Cowboys defense this season.

  26. Bill Says:

Licht and Koetter should already have their desks cleared out.
There can be little doubt they are both gone next, next Monday.

  27. Mikiebucsfan76 Says:

With Rivera and John Harbaugh staying put, I think we’re looking at B Arians as HC next year and I think he will bring in decent young assistants for DC and OC who will gradually become the HC when Arians retire. As I have said before Arians is in his late sixties and I think he will stay long enough to right the ship then turn things over to an assistant I gonna repeat this until Koetter come back or someone else is hired next year

  28. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Oh an Arians befor McCarthy as well.

  29. PhillyBuc Says:

Inexcusable decision making by Jameis and Dirk but what the hell they both won’t be here next year. And please get rid of Gmac, on pace for 16 tackles this year at $12.5mm that equals …..

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai I gave up on your web page when you asked if Dirk has accomplished what he was brought in to do and you answered yes.

Believe you may have a touch of brain damage.

  31. TheBucsAnthem Says:

It’s been stated that Bruce Arians only wants the Cleveland Browns HC job

  32. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The Glazers will cheap out and hire a community college HC

  33. “That guy” Says:

Don’t listen to aikman joe, he’s a fraud. But Jameis dies suck pretty bad though.

  34. Jay Miss Says:

Joe Bucs qb not American and definitely not a pro bowler. This guy is dumber than dog shat

  35. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Why didn’t Koetter call a timeout? The answer is very simple. He needed to save his timeouts for meaningless challenges.

  36. BigMacAttack Says:

Please sell this team to someone who cares. The Glazers obviously don’t anymore. They care nothing about the fans or they would have fired Dirk, Licht and Smith after the Chicago game. Worst NFL team and franchise ever.

  37. Tampabaybucfan Says:

And, at the risk of repeating myself……….the word is CHOKE!!!

  38. Maze Says:

    The dumb and dumber crew

  39. Wesley Says:

Jameis is a decent q.b. but we deserve a great q.b..He had a chance to prove himself albeit with a horrendous o-line and a bad coach, but it’s time to move on from him.

  40. Jay adans Says:

    2 words. NICK FOLES

  41. Mike Johnson Says:

All Disk and info have been dowloaded and boxes packed by Licht and Koetter. They know as we do. Hope next year is better guys. At least there will be a battle of the losers next Sunday. Bucs vs Birds. Would be nice to see these Bucs send Dirk out right.

  42. Pelbuc Says:

They’ve been clueless together for a long time but lets not forget the architect of this cluster&#*k is GM Licht. Nothing short of total housecleaning should be considered. Another last place finish for the perennial losers/excuse makers. At least change the uniforms next year so they can continue the losing with a better look. Merry Christmas fellow Bucs sufferers.

  43. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Anthem it was stated Gruden was staying in the booth. $$$ talks

  44. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Aikman AND Buck were absolutely SLAMMING the entire Bucs organization during the broadcast. CLASSIC! LMAO!

  45. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

but I think everyone knew gruden was not staying in the booth

  46. BigMacAttack Says:

Jameis did some good things today.
    Dirk Koetter

    He’s so stupid.

    They played different coverage today.
    Dirk Koetter

No Spit coach. Did you think they were just going to let your offense do whatever you wanted? Are you really that dumb? Do you not know how to make adjustments? Do you even look at the play clock? Dirk you suck and are worse than Lovie as a head coach. You’re the worst coach the NFL has ever witnessed. The Glazers are idiots for allowing it to continue. Fire him now. Fire Licht now. No head coach at all would be better than this mess b

  47. Dewey Selmon Says:

Why would you run a end around with BoBo instead of Djax?

  48. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’m glad they slammed the bucs on national TV

……what’s the difference between that and

all bucs fans taking it in their anus every sunday anyways?????

    there’s no difference

  49. JJV Says:

We still have a chance to improve on last year’s record and heading into the off season on a positive note with momentum. When Team Glazer keeps it all together one more season we will reap the benefits in 2019.

  50. Bucs 14 Says:

We got no core around which to build a team. We have no elite RBs, no elite QB. The O line needs help. Receivers are decent, but no real deep threat cuase Djax is a whiney b!tch, who may or may not go after the ball.

The Defense. Don’t even know where to start there. It is going to a while before this organization finds a core set of players to build a team around.

    Its a Bucs Life!

  51. Hodad Says:

Garrett running down the sideline telling the refs the play clock was expiring, why wasn’t Koetter running down the sideline calling for a T.O.? I’ll tell you why. His head was stuck up his arse like it usually is. Maybe he needs to get the plays in sooner, maybe he needs to watch the clock also. What a clueless rube.

  52. Bucnjim Says:

Pretty sure they needed those time outs in case they were able to get the ball back especially being down two scores. With 4 minutes left in the entire game the Bucs offense scored a total of only 13 points which is basically the same as the Cowboys D. No sense of urgency to get lined up on either play.

  53. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    No core????

Are you stupid or something Forest Gump????

All we need is a franchise QB, a RB, and a pair of CBs………..then we’ll be golden!!!!!!!!!

  54. AlteredEgo Says:

Have we reached a consensus ?

  55. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Jameis just isn’t that good

Stats are not the end all be all of a good QB

  56. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

What coach in their right mind would want to come right THIS ship?

  57. Swanee22 Says:

Joe, your assessment of the Bucs starting QB has been “Way Off”. I have researched past written articles and your ability to assess a true NFL QB has been matched by The owners of the Buccaneers. The Owners had no business bringing bank the GM, Head coach , Winston, and numerous defensive players for the 2018 season. Numerous current starters, do not possess the nurtured athletic talent that makes a successful NFL player. Numerous players drafted in the past 4 years are not able to maintain a consistent high level play from game to game. 80 percent talent and 20 percent coaching, so the draft is the priority to become a playoff team. Inconsistency is failure and leads directly to losing records. After 11 years of not appearing in a playoff game, this only can be turned around with an immediate hire of an outstanding football president. Giving him complete control of the draft and all hiring of coaches decisions.

  58. JJV Says:

    Coach Koetter will. Don’t fret.

  59. On the rise Says:

This 42 year season ticket holder is finally giving up on these losers!

  60. D-Rome Says:

Bonzai, you shouldn’t use JoeBucsFan to drive traffic to your Bucs narrative. Do the work yourself to drive traffic to your page.

  61. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

I think Koetter is going to stay because the boys can’t find anyone that wants to coach them.

  62. JJV Says:

Bingo Scotty. We have a winner.

  63. BrianBucs Says:

Winston continues to make rookie mistakes. No excuse for it

  64. Kobe Faker Says:

“Jason Gump will be back next year…

    What say you Bucs fans?”

    Kobe Faker

  65. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

I’m a fan of the thought of Jameis Winston, but damnit brother. WTF ??? Some sh*t is just inexcusable. Both on Dirk Tha Jerk and America’s Quarterback Tragedy.

  66. LakeLand Says:

Another pathetic season for the Yucs

    In Sucksville, USA

  67. JimmyJack Says:

JjV why are you acting like a 6-10 record is some sort of accomplishment?

  68. Mikiebucsfan76 Says:

You know Jameis do make a lot of mistakes but so does the entire team. if you gonna call out Jameis then call out the entire damn team. holding penalties, missed sure interception and other dumb play

  69. JJV Says:

Well Jimmy it would be better than the previous season. Improvement nonetheless.

  70. BigMacAttack Says:

I gave up my tickets during the off-season when they started their high pressure tactics. I told them I wanted to wait until after the draft and they said no I had to do it by March 1. I told my rep to get f^*ked. So glad it went down that way because my next call was to the Lightning.

  71. cw_buc_crazy Says:

yeah, clueless QB that should be his new nick name…
JW, our crappy QB did it. Now he leads for most turnover QB since 2005.
always I called him “below average QB”…. I was wrong! He is a crappy QB.
… and what a crappy team we have……

  72. JimmyJack Says:

JJV sorry you are wrong. This is not improvement by NFL standards. We are not a competitive team still. Nothing is better.

  74. ed Says:

One more shot at soon to be replaced management-

You can’t win drafting the wrong players

You can’t win with inept coaching that doesn’t adjust to the modern schemes in the league or adjust your plays to your players’ strength

    You cannot overpay underachievers

You must evaluate your players intelligently and have a disciplined team

Cut your losses and build for the future

  75. JJV Says:

I respect your opinion Jimmy. But in my humble opinion we are closer than most think.

  76. Bucsfanman Says:

4th year! That’s all I’m going to say.

  77. Pittsshore Says:

Like I have said before. It’s because he is ignorant. Dumb people cannot multitask. Particularly, when under pressure. Now let’s hear from the ignorant posters reply with “but he was accepted at Stanford”. Yea right.

  78. Buc4evr Says:

Jameis is a moron and today’s game is just further proof. The bottom line is that the new coach will keep him long enough to find a replacement. Bye Felicia! Lets hope Jason is also let go, we can’t let that guy near another draft.

  79. cw_buc_crazy Says:

new coach on keeping JW!!!! How can you give $20 mil to this guy.!!?? You must be out of your mind…..
