Horrible Red Zone Defense

Joe’s not laying this at the feet of new Bucs defensive coordinator Mark Duffner.
But until one of Joe’s favorite coaches helps his defense dig out of this hole, he will have to share the blame.
Last year, despite one of the worst defenses in the NFL, the Bucs actually weren’t shabby defending in the red zone. Opponents scored touchdowns roughly 55 percent of the time, good enough to rank the Bucs at No. 18 in the NFL.
This year, in that same defensive category, the Bucs are off-the-charts bad! They’re the absolute worst in the NFL at rolling over in the red zone and allowing touchdowns. Teams are scoring touchdowns at an 88 percent clip, far worse than the second-worst team, the Stinking Panthers, today’s foe.
That’s just short of giving up and laying down; that’s how bad that is.
If the Bucs plan on making noise in the second half of the season (Game 8 is today), this has to be cleaned up.

A loss today, which I hope we don’t have, will elevate the chatter re Koetter’s, and perhaps Licht’s, tenure with the organization. I personally don’t believe that Licht’s assessment of talent is bad. It’s the coaching of that talent and inability to scheme to the player’s strengths that sucks.

John Harbaugh…nah…his brother maybe but his hands are full in Michigan.
Trench pointed out there is friction at the moment between Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy. If that got soooo serious that one has to leave I suspect it would be Rodgers who won that power struggle making McCarthy available.
I’d just as soon have McCarthy as Harbaugh.

Unfortunately BucsAnthem its a ongoing time waster. JW was a complete miss but the failure is still ongoing. Could have had a mediocre QB without having wasting a first roind pick.

We have a lot of good players and that is Lichts job, he has done that job. This is all on the coaches and in my mind they are failing. However, today is the day. If they can start a career back up QB over a #1 pick, Heisman trophy winner, and National champion and end up winning this game then that’s awesome. But to sit Winston on a critical game like this and we lose this game. Then that is on the coaches and Dirk should be fired Period. We have the offense to compete with any team in the league and there is no excuses!!! Go Bucs!

Why are they paying Gerald McCoy 16 million per season? You may as well not even have a defense at 90%. That 10% is probably not the Bucs stopping them but the other team failing. Lol.

Thebucsanthem, I re-watched a couple of FSU games from their championship season, particularly the actual championship, and JW was never good. They got there asses kicked in the championship game, yet somehow scraped a win out of the mess. It was the normal for FSU that year. The majority of the bucs games I have watched that Winston has played in seem to fall into that same mold. My point being, I was never wrong about JW. I’ve always known he is trash at playing football, and anyone who was “wrong” about JW was either a blinded FSU fan, or just outright didn’t know what they were talking about, including movie smith, and including the joe who keeps talking about “america’s Quarterback”.
