“Gang Tackling”

November 4th, 2018

Leading Panthers running back and receiver

Buccaneers legend Derrick Brooks did not hesitate for a second.

It was a bit of a profound moment on the Panthers-Bucs preview episode of TAMPA TWO, the hot twice-weekly show featuring Brooks at Ira Kaufman, the great sage of JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

Brooks was asked how to stop Panthers leading receiver and leading rusher Christian McCaffrey.

“Gang tackling,” Brooks responded.

Former Bucs commander Greg Schiano used to call it “the swarm.”

However you want to refer to it, the Bucs don’t do nearly enough of it, as far as Joe is concerned.

“Don’t assume he’s down,” Brooks said of McCaffrey. “Get to the football. Get multiple hats on him. Now, that’s the other side; as great as a back that he is, he fumbles the football. Hats on the football, raking the football, creating those turnovers. … That swarm mentality. The turnover drills they do every day in practice, just continue to bring that.”

Brooks had plenty more to say about creating turnovers, an area that has helped crippled the Bucs this season.

How big is today’s game? “Bigger than big,” Brooks says. Enjoy the full episode below.

I’m very sick Kwon is not leading the charge…..

Cam and McCaffery are going to run all day all over our crappy defense

That’s why the bucs will lose today

The only chance the bucs will have to win…… Is to OUTSCORE the stinking panthers…. Cause God knows our defense ain’t stopping sheit

Unfortunately I think you are dead on…

Cam vs. MLB is a win for Cam, and I have no idea who can stay with 22

    ^

    KOBE is so right

Watching Evans miff on tackles brings back bad memories of Mark Barron……..infact, they both play the same style

If Evans isn’t on the line…..he’s miffing in open field tackles….that was his knock outta college

Where are all of you cats that were like…………”McCaffery is just a Gimmick player! He will never be any good in the NFL! He will be injured and out of football the first yr!

I’m done!!! Can’t watch or go see any more Bucs games. The coach, general manager the Winston need to go! They have had 4 years to figure it out and haven’t. They have a good core group of offensive players but that seems to be it. Every team has a down year but this is too much. They haven’t been really good since they won the Super Bowl. When is the last time they made the playoffs? The fans need to say, “enough is enough”. Why spend hard earned money to watch this same old story every week?? I see them as equal to the lowly Cleveland Browns. Just like Norv turner, Koetter may be a good OC but he is not getting it done as a head coach.
