This Carolina team is looking good as any Carolina team in the past. I am hopeful that if our offensive line holds up (please Benenoch) that we can pass on them just like every other team – whether Monken or Koetter is calling plays or whether Fitz or Jameis is throwing the ball.
To win though we will need to clearly win the TO battle so someone will have to step up on defense.

If you really look up all the stats and their history you’ll see there are two major differences between JW and Fitz…Fitz is a wiley old vet…JW is just now maturing? Fitz has a beard JW does not.
There is one other obvious difference but why bring it up because they are far far more alike than different.
They have similar TD% Int % they are both famous for putting together miraculous stretches where they are on fire and infamous for then stringing together too many ints. Neither is a great runner…both are effective runners. JW has the stronger arm…Fitz the more accurate.
Fitz won ten games one year….JW nine…JW has some remarkable second half comebacks in his career…Fitz drove the Buffalo Bills to FIVE consecutive touchdown drives in the second half….only time that has happened…to lead the Bills to a major come from behind win over the Raiders in 2012.
JW has to worry that he doesn’t start resembling Fitz in other ways. If he leaves Tampa…he will have started on a crappy team…chances are though he may go to another crappy team and then he’s on that same merry go round as Fitz has ridden…crappy team after crappy team.

My thing is, you don’t lose with Fitz.

A PERFECT example of the Bucs main problem; we draft Hargreaves in the first round out of Florida, the Panthers draft Bradberry in the second round out of Samford. Bradberry is a STUD and Hargreaves, well, pretty much a BUST. We SUCK at evaluating talent and drafting. Until that is fixed, we will SUCK.

I think before we touch anybody on the offense we should just focus on the defense. Well also get a RB. Oh and a guard! Just blow the damn defense up. Koetter has Carolina right where he wants them. The Bucs spot Carolina a record breaking (for Carolina) 35 points in the first half. This will give Carolina a false sense of security. This have been the defense Jamies have had since he came here. We need to keep Winston and build nothing but defense and a running game. Jamies will do well with a team like the Panthers. Bucs fan #7423 – In fairness Dirk is a really good OC, at least for a while, the issue is he’s an emo j/o who throws hissy fits and quits on his team – he’s not head coaching material. It’s why having him as head coach and Mike Smith as a DC was such a disaster – they could have won, just like they did in ATL, had they just flipped those around.

Fitz was fine today but there is no reason to start him again, Jameis needs to be back in there and if Dirk isn’t going to do that you fire him.
This game was always going to be a blow out and I’m glad Winston didn’t play since he always struggles against the Panthers – the same way Fitz did until the Panthers were up big and let off gas. But this game is over and there is nothing left to prove, the Bucs offense can move the ball but it doesn’t matter when your defense is giving up 35 points a game. So you play Winston and let the 24-year old keep developing.
