  1. flmike Says:

There may not be enough money to lure anyone here, not with King of the Assclowns running the show…last season was proof enough he’s clueless, this year will be worse…

  2. 77bassguitarist Says:

Hey joe do you think the bucs can trade for drunk substance abuser manzeil? You’re man crush from last yr?

  3. bucrightoff Says:

Rainey’s gone, gotta give Sims more carries to try and justify the horrible selection even if Rainey is a better runner.

  4. Jacko101 Says:

I would love to see the Bucs grab Morgan and drop Collins at some point today.

  5. Skyline Crew Says:

Looks like Revis is back on the market and Julius Thomas is going to the Jags.

  6. Skyline Crew Says:

Murray could be on the market, but he only had one good season so no need to go after him. I’m sure someone will overpay him though.

  7. Skyline Crew Says:

Hoyer is headed to Houston so he won’t be a Buc.

  8. Jeagan1999 Says:

Would have really liked to have seen the BUCS get Iupati, but everything I’ve seen has him going to Arizona. Hope we can still upgrade that pathetic offensive line.

  9. Skyline Crew Says:

Parnell looks to be going to the Jags.

  10. Skyline Crew Says:

Looks like beating the Jags next year won’t be a given. They are making plays on the offensive side.

  11. BFFL Says:

The Jags gave Parnell a bunch of money and he has only started 7 games. I guess they didn’t learn from the Buc’s mistake with Collins.

  12. bucfan593 Says:

I want Hardy on a one or two year prove it contract it will be attractive for him to play next to Mccoy and pad his stats for a fat future contract!

  13. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

Sheard is definitely an upgrade….I feel like we have to be in the running for Bulaga as well. The Bucs have been silent, Bulaga has been silent…I’m hoping that means we’ve been negotiating with him.

  14. Skyline Crew Says:

Would love to get Bulaga. So far I have read a few articles and have one seen three NFL teams associated with him. The Bills, Jags, and Bucs.

  15. DallasBuc Says:

The only moves these incompetent bozos can make that will make me happy is signing proven football players, ie Hardy, Bulaga, Murray. This guy Sheard seems like Michael Johnson 2.0. Inconsistent and unproven non-football players should be the lesson from 2014.

  16. bucs4lyfe Says:

sooner or later you gotta upgrade the talent on your roster and you cant be holding on to below average players because they contribute on special teams…..you can bring in fresh young players to do what they do and they’ll play harder to stay on the team

  17. Jacko101 Says:

Me too creamsicle, I wanted Iupati though

  18. bucrightoff Says:

Bulaga is a risky signing, never plays full seasons. Hardy too, obviously. Murray is a running back. we have 3 proven NFL backs all on rookie deals and don’t need to spend $7 million+ on another.

  19. Skyline Crew Says:

Here is a thought. Ryan Mathews is up and he is good at being a 1st-2nd down guy. Pair that up with Sims (who can supposedly catch and run) and Rainey. Now we got something. Trade Martin if you can or just let him ride out the contract as depth.

  20. mike n Says:

I say pay Buluga whatever he wants and find a pass rusher…. then over the next few months you can bargin hunt for depth and a valued starter you won’t have to pay wuch for. Do that, and free agency is a succes. 3 starters in the draft and 3 starters maybe 4 in free agency

  21. tmaxcon Says:

Bulaga is a HUGE risk. Never healthy. There is a reason Green Bay is not bringing him back at his salary demand. Time to stop taking other teams garbage. I’d rather take a chance on young durable backup that is caught up in a numbers game. hard to find I would guess but stop with the injury plagued players and the gambles on switching positions all that does is screw up 2 positions.

  22. Skyline Crew Says:

I also wouldn’t mind getting Moore at FS. He is only 25 so he could be here for quite sometime.

  23. Broy34 Says:

The first two jackasses who commented : can u just go under a rock and rot. There’s place here for you people. If you think negatively about every possible subject just root for the Damn dolphins who always make the “best signings”

  24. Broy34 Says:

Tmaxcon oh u mean like anthony collins. Cuz that’s exactly what he was. How did that work out

  25. Skyline Crew Says:

Bulaga played in 15 games last season. So he missed 1. We need a starting RT.

  26. 1Gr8Buc Says:

    NEED……MORE…….UPDATES!!!!!

  27. mike n Says:

@tmaxcon… bulga started 15 of 16 games last yr. Green bay is letting him go bc he wants elite starter money and they have to pay their wrs and qb elitte money. He is very good but not great. We are the bucs, so we are going to have to over pay , thats what happens when you draft so poorly.

  28. mike n Says:

@joebucsfan… as always, reat site. I am going to stay on this page all day and just hit the refresh button.

  29. Skyline Crew Says:

Patriots, Bengals, Bucs, Seahawks are all interested in Sheard. Where would you rather play?

No offense, but no. Acquiring a running back of any kind is simply idiotic for the Bucs. It literally is the lowest level of concern, it is the one position we have no need at even slightly. Every other position group needs adressing, not RB though.

  31. louden Says:

Clear no brainer singing especially for Bucs:
Get freaking Torrey Smith WR, Ravens – if he´s still there…

of course there are draft options, but Bucs have to many holes to fill, and Torey should come in for reasonable price.
Can form very good 1-2 punch with Evans together.
We need at least 3 good ones in todays league.
V-Jacks and Torey can both also line up in Slot due to Football IQ.. just knowing how to get open + Smith is young and can outrun defenses (now how about that? a taller, better hands Herron with more experience and proven – perfect..)

  32. bucs4lyfe Says:

lol people are coming up with average free agents that are no better than Michael Johnson was at their position lol wow thank god bucs don’t listen to fans….everyone one of these names people are throwing out screams average mediocre, injury prone and everything expect solid starter which is why their teams are letting them go. Moore is remembered mostly for missing on the Jacoby Jones touchdown catch in the 2012 playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens, they let him walk and no one can even think of a safety other than t.j. ward on their team come on people do better, cant wait to hear all of you crying when we sign these guys and they end up sucking

  33. joeNUTS Says:

    Joseph,
Thanks for the open thread…I will be locked in here for bucs news…

hopefully not as locked in as Jaemis on a post route. Im joking!!! 🙂

    **************************

No offense taken. However, if we are looking at Murray I hope we are looking at Mathews as well. I value Mathews more than Murray. I think Murray is just a one season wonder. Kind of like Martin was.

  35. Skyline Crew Says:

    @bucs4lyfe

Which FS would you sign then?

  36. Skyline Crew Says:

I also like how you bring up one play from 3 yrs ago. By that theory we should sign nobody in FA because they messed up once. Could have been last season or could have been 3 seasons ago. Doesn’t matter because they made a bad play. Oh, and my favorite excuse is, well their team doesn’t want them. It is call FA for a reason. So the Bucs should be the only team in the NFL to not sign FAs because their former teams don’t want them? Or because their former team doesn’t want to pay them.

  37. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @Skyline Crew

you know I gotta be honest I do understand that you have to spend to the cap this year ….if these names people are throwing out come at a premium price i’d give it a chance but none of them are 8-10 a year players and that’s my only issue….people are saying we suck and we aren’t going to win for a couple years, im of the mindset that eventually you have to invest more in the draft process than free agents. see what kind of team you have instead of going all out in free agency and then having a 2-14 season, see what kind of players you got then go from there. hold on to glennon and doug martin for trades. shaun hill, DeMarco Murray, DE Jabaal Sheard to start and from there we will see what happens in that second free agency period but bulaga is Anthony Collins to me

  38. bucrightoff Says:

We should not be looking at Murray. Murray led the league in yards BEFORE contact last year. He played behind an exceptional line last year, he’d be going to straight garbage here. Not worth the money in any way, would be a disasterous signing and the clearest sign yet that our GM/HC combo is going to leave us in a bad way when they get fired.

  39. Jeagan1999 Says:

Demarco Murray? Great runner, but is RB an area where we need to spend big bucks in free agency?

  40. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @Jeagan1999

your right but I only said it because doug martin is too small to block and who knows what sims is so far, we need someone to make the defense respect whatever quarterback is starting for us

  41. Eric Says:

    Hardy.

But is they did get Murray I would not cry about it.

    Lovie likes the running game.

  42. bucsfan4lyf Says:

HELL NO TO MURRAY!!! We need to fix our trenches, not get more skill guys.

PLEASE L&L, GET BULAGA AND SHEARD/MORGAN!

  43. HarriMags1 Says:

JOES — What’s the word on re-signing LVD? I would think the BUCS would try to lock him up long term before he hits the open market this time next year.

  44. BirdDoggers Says:

The Bucs need a solid ground game but Murray ran behind the best O-line in football last year and he had a ton of carries. Not sure he would be the best option but still could be an upgrade. I wouldn’t bank on him having the same success in Tampa. Martin is a question mark. Rainy didn’t perform well and Sims is unproven. If the contract is right, it might be worth a shot to sign Murray.

  45. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Free Agency is double duty to me. First you have to find a player that fills a need. Then you have to ask a MAJOR question! Why is the players current team willing to let them walk? Sometimes there is a reason other than talent and you can find a decent deal. All too often as we saw last year, these players are available because their current team has seen enough of them to realize their TRUE value.

Sometimes it is just a money deal. Too many stars and too little money, then you can find a decent deal. Somebody pointed out that Green Bay has so much money wrapped up in stars they simply can’t afford Bulaga. If that’s true then we should at least investigate.

Hard for me to get excited about a running back not named Adrian or Marshawn. I do not believe our RB situation is nearly as desperate as QB/OL/pass rusher/LB/safety.

Other than tight end RB may be our most solidly stocked position. Not saying it’s all pro caliber just that compared to the rest of the team RB is not what is killing us.

  46. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

“Update: 10:25 a.m.: Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, if the Cowboys don’t call DeMarcus Murray…”

Mispelled his first name, Joe. It’s DeMarco.

  47. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

And, btw…DeMarco Murray makes zero sense.

  48. BirdDoggers Says:

$7-8 million for Baluga is too much. The Bucs shouldn’t gamble on being able to turn him into a good LT and it’s too much for a RT with an injury history. If the actual numbers are more realistic, it’s worth shoring up the right side with him but he probably has several suitors.

  49. Eric Says:

I doubt it would happen but a guy like Murray could take pressure off a young QB.

Were not the only team that has been burned on the overpriced oline prospects.

    A little jaded on those.

  50. MarshallU Says:

Pay Bulaga what ever he wants. He’s better than anybody the Bucs now have and still young

  51. Skyline Crew Says:

As much as I dislike Hardy as a person. If we could sign him to a league minimum then I would be ok with that.

  52. Broy34 Says:

How does the leading rusher to a team who was dead last in rushing not make sense. I like dougie but he’s not what we thought he was. Sims will be more of a receiver Bobby rainey will be let go. Having doug Martin and sims two questionable running back starters sr best that doesn’t mean you don’t IMPROVE a position. Nobody wants their rookie QB to be in 3rd and longs Cuz dougie gets arm tackled. And if you fools think they won’t sign/draft some lineman to support winston and murray you are crazy

  53. MarshallU Says:

The very best way to take the pressure off any young QB is to be able to run the ball successfully

  54. Eric Says:

Bulaga is an overpriced right tackle. And injury prone.

    pass.

  55. Skyline Crew Says:

How much are we paying Sidbury? He played in 1 game for us, but we resign him as a DE?

  56. Lord Cornelius Says:

Please no to Murray. Not worth the contract with the backs we already have and the bad O-line.

  57. Dan Says:

    Free agency wishlist-
    OG Boling
    LT Long
    RT Barksdale
    DE Sheard
    MLB McClain
    DT Williams
    CB Tillman
    CB/PR/KR Areanas

Only 3 starters there. The rest are for depth. Also, none of those guys will get over 5 million a year.

  58. The Buc Realist Says:

Sign Murray and trade Martin for a 6th round pick!!!

  59. Skyline Crew Says:

Murray is overrated. He had one good season. I think he is just like Martin. One season wonder.

  60. Jeagan1999 Says:

I would have no problem with adding Demarco Murray to the team.? He’s a hell of a back….my only question would be, does that leave us enough money to address the offensive line and maybe add a DE or ILB? No doubt Murray is a talented runner…with a decent line in front of him, but there’s only so much money to spend in Free Agancy.

  61. bucrightoff Says:

Murray makes no sense because the Bucs have maybe the worst line in the league, and the Cowboys the best. So is Murray that good, or does he need a good line? Seeing as the line sucks, why get a back who needs a good line and who was overused last year anyways?

Beyond that, RB is the least valuable position in the league and the Bucs have 3 guys under rookie deals and Rainey is cheap too. Literally every single other position on the team is of greater need. It would be amazingly moronic to throw any significant money at him. Team has substantially bigger issues to worry about

  62. bucs4lyfe Says:

this league is about winning and no one goes into the next season without addressing their weakness from the season before. as you seen with what we did last year, even though it was done poorly it was still addressed and the same will be done this year. who the hell says oh don’t sign murray because our o line sucks

  63. Broy34 Says:

Yes they have holes. We also had holes last year at outside linebacker. Filled by lansanah. A rotational edge rusher. Filled by Jaques. Dotson Mankins as of now on the line. 2nd round pick can make 3 solid guys. That means sign one or two decent lineman along with murray and drafting winston and without a doubt we have the best offense in our history. Period. It’s not like Murray would take all of our money. I’m sure we will cut a guy or two. Goldson or koenon

  64. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Demarco Murray SHOULD NOT sign with the Bucs. There is zero need for him.

Doug Martin can produce…given a halfway decent offensive line. Frankly, I don’t see how the same people that say the oline sucked can say Doug isn’t any good.

    Bunch of reactionary idiots.

  65. Barry Bryan Joel all agree Says:

Winston is under lock and key. His handlers shut down his social media. If they don’t trust him, how can the Glazers?

  66. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

The irony here is that most of you wanted Josh McCown last year too.

  67. bucrightoff Says:

BRoy, RB is not a weakness. A piece of crap offensive line that can’t open holes is the weakness. Which is why signing Murray is a waste of money even if they have the space to sign him. Spend that money on more lineman and let Martin and James and Sims run. The Patriots won the Super Bowl with a RB they signed midway through the season. Ravens had a top 5 back off the street. Running backs are the least valuable players in the league, any average RB can perform well with a good line. Most good RBs struggle behind bad lines.

  68. BFFL Says:

I like Murray, but running backs are a dime a dozen. Fix the OL and devise a good running scheme. Mariota will go a long way to helping the running game because he will keep a defense honest just from the threat of the zone read.

  69. @eric Says:

Hate to say it but I bet Glennon goes to the Cards as their future franchise qB for a third or fourth rounder, if they sign Shaun Hill who is garbage.

  70. BucsfaninChina Says:

I can live with DeMarco Murray pounding the rock. Solid in all facets of the game. He’s a bit injury prone though.

  71. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    Build the lines…build the lines!

  72. ChanEpic Says:

The irony here is that most of you wanted Josh McCown last year too.
    ———————————————————————————————

serious overreacting because josh mccown was never first in anything except interceptions so comparing the two is frankly insulting. no one was banging the table for josh mccown but when we signed him sensible people were saying aaah better than glennon lol. don’t look now but he’s on the bucs radar and I would meet it with the same mentality if we signed murray. no more if’s at running back we need production from our running backs with a new rookie qb, sims and murray do it for me even though I like dougie fresh

  74. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

“FSU asks federal court to dismiss Title IX lawsuit from Winston’s accuser.”

It’s just beginning to unfold just as I suspected and foretold. The case will be thrown out of court for lack of evidence. Same with the civil suit against Winston. Thrown out.

  75. bucrightoff Says:

87 dude can you please keep the Winston stuff to those circle jerk/he’s satan threads? Can we talk about actual NFL football today only?

  76. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Joe’s in a bad mood? Uh oh behave yourselves everyone.

  77. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    bucrightoff…that would be a nope.

  78. bucsjunkie Says:

The lack of rumors from the Bucs has me worried. I remember this time last year we were hearing a lot more leading up to the signing deadline…

  79. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    bucsjunkie…yep it’s been very quiet.

  80. I'm a great person Says:

@Bucrightoff, 87 is in love. You remember that feeling when you first fell in love don’t you? It’s over powering stuff! He’ll be alright though, give him some time. Oh, have I told everyone I’m a great person yet today? All the greats throughout time always tell people they’re great.

  81. Jeagan1999 Says:

Maybe “quiet” is a good thing. Not all the picks from last year turned out all that great! Plus there is also news that the NFL is not happy with all the leaks about player agreeing to contracts so early. Maybe the Bucs are just trying to lay low so they don’t get fined, like some teams most certainly will!

  82. bucrightoff Says:

He’s in lust. And in for some serious heartbreak in a few weeks. Either way, FAs only in this thread please, came the Jameis stupidity to the 295 posts you can find on that.

  83. Lord Cornelius Says:

Just talking to some Seahawks people they say are not sad to see Carpenter go.

obviously biased sources but makes me feel a bit better for not grabbing him.

Just sucks this FA market isn’t great for premier O-lineman. I don’t even know that I want Bulaga.. He’d be a risk at LT; and we already are fine at RT. So I don’t get it.

  84. Architek Says:

Queue all the wanna be GMs…

  85. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Bucrightoff…yep stick to FA post on this thread….see ya in 4 hours.

  86. John Says:

How inept are the leaders of the bucs organization?! Now we are in the market for aging, injury prone RB. Wtf! How does 99.9% of the fan base know we need to focus on our OL, but the idiots in the front office that are privvy to a lot more info than we are can’t see this. I trust nothing Licht or Lovie says and wouldn’t be supreme
if they passed on Winston and Mariota.

It will be 10yrs plus til we become relevant again and we have talent in key areas to be relevant now. How disappointing!

  87. Scott Says:

Ok guys I have a feeling we will go after Chris conte For FS

  88. WS99 Says:

Somebody wake me up when we improve our team. #Zzzzzzz

  89. Jeagan1999 Says:

Ian Rappaport tweeting that DE/LB Trent Cole signing with the Colts. They have been adding some nice pieces so far.

  90. cmurda Says:

Dammit. Colts signed Trent Cole and it looks like the Pack are going to do whatever necessary to keep Bulaga. This is the guy #1 on my wish list. I’m not feeling too optimistic with what’s left.

  91. WINdycitybuc Says:

Trent Cole is going to Indy.

  92. BirdDoggers Says:

Looks like Trent Cole is signing with Indy. Sheard might be even more ofa possibility now.

  93. John Says:

How about not signing anyone. Let other teams sign our bad free agents. The NFL will give us extra picks in the draft. Then we actually build through the draft. What a concept. You should only pay high prices for free agents when your close to having a playoff team. Otherwise it’s a waste of money.

  94. BirdDoggers Says:

It’s time the Bucs let other teams “win” free agency. Let other teams overspend on the big money contracts. There will be much better value after the first wave. Patience.

  95. LUVMYBUCS Says:

This is why–I will keep saying-that we need to trade down and restock this roster through through the draft brothas.

1.) Restock Offensive Line with premium picks

    Example:

Mock Offensive line after trade down

    (LT) Lane Johnson
(LG) Ereck Flowers || Jamon Brown
    (C) B.J. Finney || Max Garcia
    • (RG) Laken Tomlinson || John Miller

How inept are the leaders of the bucs organization?! Now we are in the market for aging, injury prone RB. Wtf! How does 99.9% of the fan base know we need to focus on our OL, but the idiots in the front office that are privvy to a lot more info than we are can’t see this. I trust nothing Licht or Lovie says and wouldn’t be supreme
if they passed on Winston and Mariota.

It will be 10yrs plus til we become relevant again and we have talent in key areas to be relevant now. How disappointing!
    ———————————————————————————

Fans of bad teams always cry during free agency period. if their team is active they cry about the players signed, if they do nothing in free agency and focus on the draft they cry because they think the team isn’t getting any better….lol relax people lovie and licht don’t walk into your job and tell you how to hold your spatula

  100. John Says:

Looks like you did your homework LOVEMYBUCS…I saw another article recently about using our second round pick to trade down for more picks and getting offensive lineman. Believe it was on Pewter Report. Anyway I’m good with trading down in the 1st or second rounds. The line needs to be built for whoever is our quarterback or it won’t matter who is back there.

I 1000% agree with you John.

I only 50% agree with you. We actually need to spend according to the collective bargaining agreement and the several years before that we were so inactive in FA, coupled with crappy drafts that it led to us rebuilding for 10 straight years now. I myself was pushing the trade down scenario but in no way do I want to do that. 1st of all, I don’t trust our scouting and organizational drafting skills and secondly you don’t give up the #1 pick with a potential franchise QB on the table when you’ve never had a franchise QB. I get that we will build mostly through the draft but a guy like Bulaga who is still young is the perfect free agent signing for us. Sadly, the Pack look like they will get a deal done before he even hits the market.

  104. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Get the QB and then build the line.

I know it sounds backwards, but I don’t think(hope we’re not) we will be picking this high again for a few years. Take the chance now on the QB then address the line in later rounds and FA.

  105. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

cmurda…I’ve always held that stance anyways. That there’s no point to bringing in high priced FA’s unless your team is on the cusp of something. Like needing a few missing pieces to get over the hump and this team has a long way to go.

  106. passthebuc Says:

    The question to ask

  107. LargoBuc Says:

Jabal Sheard huh? Hope he can learn our defense unlike a certain RDE last year.

  108. BirdDoggers Says:

I agree that free agency isn’t how a team should be built. Unfortunately, the drafting has been so bad that the team has been forced to add talent via free agency. Freeman, Barron, Talib, Clayborn, 1st round pick traded for Revis, Price, Bowers, Benn, etc. These players are 1st and 2nd round picks either gone, soon to be gone or just didn’t pan out. That’s a horrible track record of drafting.

  110. Lord Cornelius Says:

Does anyone know what our plan would even be with Bulaga? Dotson at LT?

I’m not a fan of paying big money to a RT right now when we have a RT.

There are no premier LTs available that I can see. Maybe Jake Long for cheap? Outside of him I don’t recognize any names.

I say sign an OG for depth / starter upgrade over Omaha/Cousins. There are also no premier RGs though sadly. Maybe Willie Colon as temporary starter or something.

Then go get a LT / RG in the draft. The top of rounds 2/3 should have those players available.

  111. Jeagan1999 Says:

I don’t think we will hear much about the Bucs until closer to the 4pm “official” start of FA signing. Hopefully we have learned our lesson from last year and won’t just throw a bunch of money at guys who were one-year-wonders or who have never really lived up to their potential. A few complimentary pieces would be nice, but we don’t need any more huge disappointments!

  112. buddhaboy Says:

Chanepic…I was wondering the same thing after reading your comment.. then seeing Joe delete it. You were talking about how many fans can become Fins and Jags fans if they draft Winston..I think.

  115. Jeagan1999 Says:

Have to say that I’m a bit surprised at how quiet things are on the Greg Hardy front. Have not heard or seen too much on him over the last few days. If the Bucs go after him, maybe that’s a sign that they are also comfortable with Winstons perceived behavior/character. Should be interesting to see what happens over the next few hours!

Also wondering if Collins and Johnson will be let go.

  116. Lord Cornelius Says:

Hardy is a risk because he is likely going to get a suspension still so you don’t even know how much he will play. He’s also on thin ice with the league now.

He was also found guilty by a judge for what he did (whereas Winston was never charged). There was actual evidence against him to go along with the woman’s testimonial.

  117. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

I think that if Lovie fails to at least make our O-line decent for our rookie QB, as punishment we should promote him to starting QB. Oh yeah, that’d be great, I’d definitely pay to see that.

  118. mike n Says:

Why is someone breaking down 2016 O Line prospects here today???????????

  119. cmurda Says:

    @87.

I hear you and I don’t disagree but it also peeves fans, myself included, watching year after year when we were well under the salary cap. Michael Johnson and Anthony Collins were stupid signings. Nothing in their recent history warranted the contracts they received from us. Even Joe was critical about that move and Joe is hardly ever right. Joe is right about Winston though and I’m 100% on board there. One last thing. In general, Manziel being labeled a bust is ridiculous. The guy played less than 2 games and checked himself into rehab. Neither of which warrant the bust label just yet.

  120. Buctebow Says:

The Bucs have to sign any oline they can get to come here, as we can’t go through another year with what we had last year. Whether we overpay (you always do in FA!), or if they have injury concerns, or aren’t totally proven, or have holes in their games. We have no choice but to try.

  121. bucrightoff Says:

Hardy probably doesn’t sign until a few days or even weeks from now. Highest risk player on the market obviously.

  122. Connor Says:

The reason last years free agents were busts is because they were never that good to begin with, at least not for the prices we paid for them.

  123. HotRod Says:

Highest risk – potential greatest reward

  124. bucrightoff Says:

I’m not saying Hardy might not be worth it, but his status with the league is in flux so I don’t think anyone signs him until that becomes clearer. No one is gonna sign him right now and then watch him get suspended anyways.

  125. Patrickbucs Says:

Jags seem to be doing pretty well today as they have to meet the salary minimum floor. Not sure what’s up with the Raiders on that front but Cali taxes are crazy.

I’ll be patient with the Bucs as I am every year but this team can’t trot out a bunch of the same starters as last year mixed in with a few rookies to make almost anyone happy. Our draft record is so awful I just don’t trust this org from top down at all anymore. But somehow I still have my season tix for now.

    ______________________________

Yeah BB, I may complain about the new signings if they suck, but not because I think it was wrong to sign them in the first place. There is no other option than to try to shore up the weakest link on the team which is the oline and that cannot easily or totally be done in the draft alone. So “Bull” back to you, as you don’t have a better idea that might work for a team that has drafted poorly and managed personnel poorly for years.

  141. passthebuc Says:

There is no truth to the rumor that the bucs have traded their 2nd round pick to Cleveland for McClown. I understand from good sources that it was no more than a 3rd.

  142. Buctebow Says:

Passthebuc, is that some sort of joke?

  143. Lord Cornelius Says:

All of you guys want O-line but haven’t looked at the market for it. Who is the LT you would sign? Who is the premier Guard?

Iupati was the only solid expensive target that I thought could make sense but he’s gone. Carpenter would have been an upgrade over what we had but he isn’t a top guard by any means; moreso average. Bryan Bulaga is an injury risk RT that makes less sense to me every time I think about it.

In this FA market; we are best off with depth/value type O-line signings in my opinion. Otherwise we are going to basically be overpaying mediocre talent and not making much of an upgrade.

I think the available guards; even a 31 year old Willie Colon who was just cut from the Jets; would be an upgrade. Or Justin Blalock from the Falcons. Experienced dudes to help whoever we draft / develop for the future. Anything other than Oniel Cousins.

Then we can draft at least a LT or OG in the first 3 picks as a starter; ideally 2 in this draft to go along with the hopefuly furthur devleopment of Pamphile.

It won’t get fixed overnight but a couple strong pieces (like 1 new stater from FA and one from draft) could make a huge difference; as well as having an OC

wow, worse this year, but when do they have to be under the cap?

  230. Jeagan1999 Says:

There are a few rumors floating around that Drew Brees is on the trading block. If the Saints covet Winston or Mriota, making the deal with the Seahawks gives them enough ammo (2 #1 picks in the Draft) to try to move Brees and move up for their new QB. I would not be surprised if word gets out that the Saints have contacted Jason Licht about the Bucs #1 overall pick.

  231. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

  242. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

So Philly just moved up to 10?

That means they are surely going after Mariota…

  243. lurker Says:

  246. bucrightoff Says:

The Eagles and Rams have indeed swapped 2015 first round picks. Eagles now at #10. They are coming for #1, and based off their moves so far they’re going to badly overpay for #1 too. Lets hope they do/

  247. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!…lol

  248. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

If Winston is going to be so very good…why is all the trade talk about Mariota?

  249. Charlie V Says:

Phillie just made the 1st trade in their quest to move up to draft Marriota. Lovie will take Bradford and his contract and draft pics in exchange for the Buc’s #1 pick. Phille is getting a 2nd round pick in addition to Bradford giving them two second round pics this year. Only Lovie Smith would be fool enough to make this trade and you can bet he’s stupid enough to do it.

  250. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Okay…thanks I thought I saw that on the ticker about Philly swapping picks with Rams too.

    So thanks for clarifying bucrightoff.

  251. Lord Cornelius Says:

    My prediction:

Philly will be trading the #10, a future first, this years second, and Sam Bradford to the Titans to get their guy.

If they pull it off that was a pretty awesome move. Essentially Foles, 21st pick, and future first for Mariota which is nothing for what he means to them.

If they want the #1 it’s going to take the #10, 2015 1st, 2016 1st, Bradford, 2nd this year at least I’d think. Then Tennessee would be ecstatic and take Winston; and I’d likely go get blackout drunk in depression.

  252. bo Says:

Philly with mariota would be dangerous.

Why….they don’t have McCoy, Jackson or Maclin? Phily is going to suck regardless of who their QB is

  253. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Charlie V, newsflash.

Lovie has NOTHING to do with trades.

  254. Lord Cornelius Says:

Buc Bonzai – because Philly is obsesed with Mariota and he is the guy more people see as likely to fall in the draft at this point. Everyone has penciled in Winston to the Bucs right now; so why would there be any trade rumors about him?

  255. bucrightoff Says:

Yeah I cannot for the life of me figure out why St. Louis would swap picks too. Terrible move for them to do that and though I like Foles more than Bradford, the 2nd round pick and 10 pick swap is expensive.

  256. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Bonzai…I think Philly is going to be the ONLY team trying to move up to get him.

I also think Bradford is going to the Titans on draft day.

  262. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I think it would be hilarious if the Eagles traded up to #2, only to have the Bucs draft him at #1.

  263. Lord Cornelius Says:

honestly Bucs could get tricky and do that Bonzai. Then they could force the Eagles to give them Winston and picks haha.

Really doubt that happens lol if they think Winston is their their potential Luck they aren’t going to f*** around with it

  264. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

  269. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Here’s a question…if the Bucs were to draft Mariota, how far would Winston fall?

  270. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Oh….and for those who think Tenn should just wait for us and then trade…..we have to be patient and let them know that we may take Mariota @1….but for the right deal…would take Winston at 2.

Glad to see we are signing all these guys that played on a 2-14 team…..LMFFAO!

  272. bucrightoff Says:

The Eagles will come up to #1 if they want Mariota. Trading up to #2 allows for us to trade #1 to someone else who wants Mariota, thus getting a bounty AND screwing the Eagles (a conference rival no less). #2 leaves too much risk for Philly. Unless the Bucs sign Winston before the draft, the Eagles have to wait or come up to #1.

  273. David Says:

Why is all the trade talk about trading up for Mariota? It seems the Bucs are the only team interested in Winston. We could probably trade down to #10 and Winston will still be there. No one seems to want to touch this guy but us.

  278. lurker Says:

    from the link above:

TAMPA, Fla. – One hour into free agency and the only thing we’ve learned about the Buccaneers is that safety Chris Conte will visit with the team and cornerback Leonard Johnson has signed a one-year deal to remain with the team.

Conte played for coach Lovie Smith in Chicago. He could be a replacement for Dashon Goldson, who might end up being released. The Bucs have one starting safety in Bradley McDougald and a backup in Major Wright.

Conte had been a starter in Chicago, but he dealt with concussion issues last season.

Johnson was a restricted free agent. He spent last season as Tampa Bay’s nickelback.

The Bucs have more than $30 million in available salary-cap space, so they’ll make some moves in free agency. They just haven’t started off as fast as they have in recent years.

I think we all agree that Tim Tebow is not an NFL QB. I suspect you were kidding.

But I seriously wonder why we or another team haven’t tried Tebow as an Hback

Tebow is big enough, and athletic enough to lineup all over the field. He doesn’t have the arm of an NFL QB but his arm is better than most of the former college QB’s who end up playing receiver. IE a trick play with Tebow making a second pass could find a guy wide open enough for even Tebow to hit.

I’m serious btw. Again I’m not a Gator or Tebow lover. He was NEVER an NFL quality QB because of his arm limitations. But he IS an NFL quality athlete.

Henry Melton – DL – Free Agent
Free agent DT Henry Melton will visit the Bucs.

Melton, 28, played three years under coach Lovie Smith in Chicago and went to a Pro Bowl. Coming off a torn ACL, Melton notched five sacks across 433 snaps for the Cowboys last season. He should be even closer to 100 percent in 2015.

Derrick Morgan – LB – Free Agent

    via rotoworld:

Free agent DE/OLB Derrick Morgan will visit the Buccaneers if he leaves his Falcons meeting without a contract.

The pass rush-desperate Falcons would be smart to not let Morgan leave. Their NFC South rivals are similarly needy and could easily lock down Morgan with plenty of salary cap space. Morgan just turned 26 in January and is one of the NFL’s most efficient pass rushers, even if he isn’t a huge sack guy.

Per @spotrac, @Revis24 has earned $85.2 million in 8 years. Now $40M guaranteed. Worth researching if he’s richest non-QB in league history.

Is anyone else relieved like me that we are not arguing the Winston rape allegations today…..
Good to be talking about the much needed upgrades at other positions….

I don’t think we should be fooled by the inaction so far…..I would be very happy with some FA singles, doubles & triples….we don’t need HRs that may be strikeouts like last year…..

Revis is without a doubt the greatest businessman in NFL history. He’s pretty much earned as much as he possibly can every single chance he could.

    “@87
That’s 14 people who don’t matter and who don’t get paid to make the actual pick. Literally, if they knew what they were talking about they’d be GMs, not guys making up imginary drafts….that even goes for the guys I work with.”

How often do they get the first pick wrong?

  367. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

I’ll answer that for you…hardly ever.

Winston is going to BE a Buc.

  368. Skyline Crew Says:

But they have gotten it wrong. Will they change when Mariota comes for his visit? Probably. Also, Mariota’s pro day is tomorrow.

  369. Skyline Crew Says:

As for Revis, he always does short front loaded contracts. Smart man.

    Really? When it’s 13-1.

All the signs have been pointing to Winston for a month now….they continue to point to Winston and have picked up steam.

In fairness I’ll let you know when I think things have changed for Mariota being a Buc, but as of right now…

Looking at those 2 in the picture you posted Joe kind of makes me sick to my stomach.

All handshakes and smiles. This was apparently before LAST season.

Ya know the “we don’t expect our fans to be patient” season of 2014.

There’s so much confidence in the picture that you posted. I’m sick to my stomach again Joe.

  372. Skyline Crew Says:

Yes 87 it has happened. Like you said it rarely does, but then again there is rarely I hot debate about who should be #1. This year is different in that it is a hot debate. I can see mockers changing their minds when Mariota comes to Tampa for his visit and is videos and all that jazz.

  373. Caleb Says:

Ok guys lets get something straight here (typical fans, don’t understand sh** about football). Yes is there talent in this year FA, of course. The reason the Bucs haven’t gone after them is because of many reasons: the first and most important…DONT FIT THE SCHEME ON OFFENSE OR DEFENSE!!! Just so you fans can understand it’s not always about the individual talent the player has, but more importantly if that player can do what you need him to do on this team well. Second, all you dumbasses talking about us picking up Murray to improve our running game, you guys clearly don’t understand the tire need of this team. You can’t run the ball if no one on the line is blocking. The problem is not the running backs, so please no more input from you idiots, I can’t take reading that nonsense. Finally, most of these big name guys are overrated, injury prone or off the field issues.

Now that I got that off my chest I’ll explain to you what I believe the team is doing. If you read about the Bucs they are bringing guys in for visits to sit down and talk to them tell them what there role would be in this team and asking them to buy into what Lovie and his crew want to build. Some of these guys Lovie has coached before and I’m sure he’s checking to make sure nothing has changed in the way they think about his ways to winning. I’ve heard some of you say we need to build through the draft, and I think that’s the overall plan, but first I think we’re going to grab a few guys that fit what we’re trying to do as far as scheme goes in FA. Then look for the building blocks in the draft. Most of you need to understand that any NFL player can be good in the right system if he is willing to put the work in to be the best player he can be. What screws most of them up is all that money they get at such a young age.

Lastly, for those of you who don’t believe in Lovie, I can’t wait tell he proves you all wrong. Let’s leave it to the professional coaches and not tell them how to do there job. It my take more time than you all wanted but when we do turn it around I don’t want to hear a word from you Lovie haters.
