Bucky Irving On Pace For 291 Carries And 1,355 Yards Rushing

October 25th, 2026

So it seems the Bucs have a Pro Bowl running back — alongside a veteran offensive line and a $55 million per year quarterback.

Is it crazy to think Tampa Bay can score enough to complement their strong defense?

Joe is up for dreaming on this Victory Sunday after the Bucs clobbered the Stinkin’ Panthers 43-13 in Charlotte.

Bucky Irving was the bellcow again today. Irving hammered away 24 times for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. He now has 120 carries this season for 558 yards and 4 touchdowns.

That puts Irving on pace for a stunning 291 carries, 1,355 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season.

Can Irving handle that kind of load? Right now, it simply doesn’t matter. The Bucs are desperate and Bucky will be carrying the mail until he no longer can or the Bucs find breathing room — the good kind or the bad.

Bucky brought his “A” game today, as did everyone else on offense, defense and special teams. Great team blowout win!

  5. SoCalBucsFan79 Says:

Its funny how easily the fanbase can give up, but the actual professional athletes perform and still want to win? No wonder you all are “fans” and not the guys actually playing, because that “effort” will get you run in a league that says NFL, not for long. With the loser mentality from some of our fans, no wonders Packer and Steeler fans took over Ray-Jay. I couldn’t give a crap if it takes 250 yards rushing or 300 yards passing from the offense, as long as they win and make a run to be in the playoff conversation, because since I watched them since 1979, there were many hopeless seasons and after week 7, I don’t feel we are as hopeless despite how easy you mayflies wilt with some early season aversity.

None of us should expect rah-rah coaching from Bowles, but his defense did shutdown the #4 scoring, #2 total yard offense, to a season lows in 13 points and 266 total yards for one that previously averaged 404 yards per game. 4 turnovers, 5 sacks, defensive touch down and 2 points off an xp return are a results from a defense that has gotten on the same page and is executing at a high-level, playing the defense Bowles designed. I have no power to change the coaches, neither do any one fan or the multitudes cosplaying like the Joes that you or they make any difference to the actual decision makers in the front office and team ownership. Go watch something more worth your while, than spend time just spewing gutless anonymous comments where none of you would ever say that in front of the players faces, cuz at the end of the day, you all are cowards hiding behind the internet.

  6. Ed Says:

24 carries a game isn’t going to keep him healthy for a whole season. He is an outstanding cutback runner but if you want to keep him fresh you need to let someone else run through the creases. Gainwell did a very good job. They have to mix it up. The defenses on the other side of the ball are going to get key on Bucky and slow him down, especially running up the middle. 15-18 carries a game is where they should be with him. He is running hard, don’t overuse him.

  7. Colin in Canada Says:

SoCal I agree 100%. These fake fans talking draft in October selling their tickets to opposing fans should find a new team.

  8. Colin in Canada Says:

Also Joes, listen to Ira! The majority of fans don’t want the Bucs to lose and don’t like the negativity

  9. 80sBucsfan Says:

    BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    2-5

    This team still stinks.

One W and the people are losing their minds.

This team has fooled us before…HELL NO. THEY STILL SUCK. PERIOD.

    2-5 is 2-5

  10. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

SoCal and Colin – fans have every right to be frustrated and voice their displeasure after 3-12 over the previous 15 games. To say otherwise is ridiculous.

Thrilled with this win and I am happy to be proven wrong about Bowles and Zac IF we go on a run and win a playoff game. Otherwise, I personally hope for a change in coaching.

Those are simply my thoughts and feelings today as a Bucs fan and Tampa native my entire life of 57 years old.

  11. SkunkApe Says:

After a win, the delusional people appear with their sparkles and rainbows and unicorns… boy oh boy if we can just do this every week, we won’t need to fire Bowles and we can just enjoy winning! Yaaaay!

These are the people that cult leaders target when recruiting.

  12. CMallie Says:

Great, 100mil for Faker Mayfield just so Bucky can run the show. Should have given him 100mil and sent Faker to the XFL where he belongs. Maybe Arena football. One win at this point is meaningless, the season is done. The so-called “professional” athletes have looked a lot more like armatures so far.

  13. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

It’s a passing league yes, but the league is still a football league. If you can run the ball like we did against most defenses you’re setting the tone of the game. Bonus possession off turnovers and stop help too, more chances to produce.

  14. Lightningvinny1 Says:

It was a must win or Bowles was canned ,, same will be said for next week ,,, Baker gets another week to heal up ,, if Robinson would have committed to run this year they would be 5-2

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

It was good seeing Gainwell bust a run too. Been waiting to see what our front office saw.

  16. B Says:

Even if he can’t keep it up…rbs 2 and 3 looked pretty darn good, with Turner adding yet another 40 plus yard end zone scamper to his resume. Think maybe realistically that was just a very bad run defense (27th).

Apparently you’re satisfied with mediocrity and incompetence, because that’s what you’ll get over and over and over again as long as Bowles is head coach. One game doesn’t mean anything. Winning the NFCS landfill doesn’t mean anything. It’s all worthless because they will never be anything more than this until TB is gone. If you haven’t learned that after 4+ years of him as HC, I don’t know what to tell you.

Yeah, I was going to… But, after reading all of these garbage headlines (that NO ONE is buying, or commenting on), I decided to take a pass. I’m not wasting MY TIME, on nothing but a BUNCH of BS with all of this bogus Bucs Propaganda being spewed by these same CLOWNS. No Way.

  25. Buddha Says:

Nice win today. Right now the NFC South is not the worst division in the NFL

AFC South is currently 9-18 (L. Coen is overrated).
NFC South is 10-17 (Liam is lucky).
    NFC East is 9-19.

We are 4th of the six Divisions.

  26. Buddha Says:

So how about a little fair analysis of the record. Here is the current record of the teams to which we lost:

    Packers 4-2 (and leading today).
    Vikings 6-0
    Browns 5-2
    Bengals 5-2
    Steelers 5-2

We have yet to play a losing team! This has been a reasonably tough schedule!

  27. J Says:

We beat the Panthers, which were even worse than what we have shown in the past. Baker throws for 64 yds and a TD. Any team with a decent D will stop us in our tracks. Beat the big teams and we’re talking. This was nice but looking at the standard, not impressive enough.

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Warren Brooks Lynch … ‘If you can run the ball like we did against most defenses you’re setting the tone of the game. Bonus possession off turnovers and stop help too, more chances to produce.’

While I agree with running the ball more, folks should keep in mind that the Cowboys and the Panthers have 2 of the absolute worst Run Defenses in the NFL. We dominated with our running game in both cases, but that’s more the exception-than-the-rule.

The Bucs’ defense and the TURNOVERS were the real key today IMO. We won the Turnover Battle 4-0; historically teams that do that win the game over 97% of the time. Running the ball as much (and as effectively) as we did, allows us to control the clock and win the TOP Battle. Against the Panthers we won the TOP 35:57 to 24:03. Against the Cowboys we won the TOP 39:21 to 20:39. Funny thing about keeping high-scoring offenses sitting on the bench keeps them from scoring isn’t it.

The reality to me WBL is that the Panthers self-destructed today just like we’ve been doing for the most part game-after-game for the past year. You can’t turn the ball over 4 times & expect to win. You can’t have a porous Run Defense & expect to win. And you can’t have an abysmal Pass Defense & expect to win either.

  29. Buddha Says:

Nobody has stopped us in our tracks. All of our losses have been one score losses. In fact, here is a weird, weird data point. We are now +11 in scoring on the season. In total, we have outscored our opponents by 11 points.

  30. Defense Rules Says:

Buddha … ‘We have yet to play a losing team! This has been a reasonably tough schedule!’

Yes and no. We were in each and every game IMO, BUT … we shot ourselves in the foot in each loss. We lost not because the other team as so good, but rather because we played poorly and did some very dumb things.

Example: In our 5 losses we turned the ball over 11 times; we lost the Turnover Battle in 4 of those losses, and tied it in the other. But in our 2 wins now, we turned the ball over ZERO times (and forced our opponents to turn the ball over 7 times). Thus we won the Turnover Battle in BOTH of our wins, but lost it or tied it in all 5 of our losses. THAT’S a good example of shooting yourself in the foot.

  31. Bartow Buc Says:

NFL today spent an hour honoring Purdy and Kittle and they get their buts kicked by Atlanta.
    Purdy sucks !!
Meanwhile the Buccaneers name brings laughs among the NFL today group and they Stomp a Mudhole in the Panthers !!
I get a feeling most of you Baker and Bowles haters on this site aren’t happy about this win.
    I’m hoping a long win streak follows today 43 – 13 victory !

    Go Bucs !!

  32. Defense Rules Says:

Buddha … ‘In total, we have outscored our opponents by 11 points’.

Ends up being a meaningless stat when your record is 2-5. It simply means that you did very well in the 2 wins (yippee) but not-so-much in the 5 losses (boo).

  33. Baker Head Case Says:

I really like Gainwell. He adds a change of pace. Gainwell, Bucky and Tucker on shorts ? Winning! Glad head case didn’t have to keep us in the game. Am I the only one who notices how garbage bake is?

  34. Lightningvinny1 Says:

For some unknown reason we are betting favorites to beat ATL next week

  35. Baker Head Case Says:

Bartow? You know all baker did today was hand the ball off and toss 5 yards screens right? Anytime he threw down feild it was incomplete

  36. Jarrett Says:

    Honestly gang

If we win next week we are so back

    Its a Bucs life

  37. Capt.Tim Says:

    Today was joy and Happiness!
    So much fun to watch!

    The Formula?
    Run. Run. Run.
    Blitz. Blitz. Blitz.
We are excellent at doing that.
And that’s enough to Win The NFC South.

  38. DoooshLaRue Says:

He’s my favorite player because he loves football and is a blast to watch!

  42. Bucsfan81 Says:

This team was 1-5 yesterday so for the people saying us fans wanting to talk draft should find a new team. No we been around for 20 to 30 plus years and know how this works. Your not digging out of a whole that deep
That’s just being realistic. Plus knowing the Bucs they will win enough games to not make the playoffs and screw up their draft position and keep toilet Bowles job cause it’s a Bucs Life!!!

  43. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Live to fight another day,,, Atlanta is another day

  44. Brasho Says:

Seeing some of these runs by the two running backs and thinking to myself, Tucker would have broken that. And then Tucker comes in and guess what he does, he breaks it.

  45. Top Producer Says:

For the love of the game and team. Looking at the big picture, we will NEVER win a championship with coach Kit Kat. No other team in the NFL would hire BOWLES as HC. Bowles ruined Brady’s final campaign. Without Bruce Arians Bowles would not be our HC. Fun to see a win however just went down the ladder on draft picks. Does no good to win the division and lose a home playoff game. Losing 4
Straight home games is inexcusable. Looking forward to new coaches, home field advantage and quality play…..NO RISK IT NO BISCUIT!

  46. SkunkApe Says:

    @Thonotosassa,

How about, instead of lame names like “Fragrance Ape” or complaining that I’ve repeated my take, you try to refute my point one little bit. Are you a Bowles believer? Do you really think the future of this franchise benefits from a couple meaningless wins?

  47. Bucco’sBruise Says:

  48. Itzok Says:

I never once heard anyone say can Emmett Smith Barry Sanders or Walter Peyton handle that many carries. Bucky is the guy he possess’ the rare vision and must get 20 carries a game. Ride his ass until he turns 30. Can’t worry about injury

Yeah, we’re back in the race to be the least awful team in the most awful division in football. And if we actually do win the division, we have the privilege of getting our ass kicked in round 1 of the playoffs and the idiot owners retain the head coach in 2027.

    No thanks.

  50. Weebs10 Says:

It’s interesting the certain regular posters on this site that go real quiet when the Bucs win

  51. Steven007 Says:

Skunk, I guess what you have to answer is if you were in charge, how would you approach this? If the players don’t play to win then they play to do what exactly? Seriously, how would this thing work for you? Because you keep suggesting losing is good. None of us want Bowles back as coach. But yet we want our team to do well. Yes, it’s a conundrum. But I’ll take a big bucs win anytime.

  52. Marky mark Says:

Socalbucfan i lived in long Beach 11 years. My biggest lessons from LA were everybody in LA thinks outside the box all the time and Angelinos are irrationally optimistic. That is why everything Is invented in Cali. Lets go bucs then Rams after that

    Brasho sez

“Seeing some of these runs by the two running backs and thinking to myself, Tucker would have broken that. And then Tucker comes in and guess what he does, he breaks it.”

Yup. The one back not getting carries based on salary… Hell he took an unwise pay cut… is the one who wouldn’t have been caught on any of those spill outs. Also a guy who has the frame to take 30 carries a game.

I love Bucky and he has unique talents. Gainwell was the PIT players choice for MVP which 8is a thing, and he’s finally made some worthy plays the last two weeks. Butt Truck is the guy who needs the touches.

You are technically correct — none of us can predict the future. However, would you put your own money down on Bowles leading this team to a SB? If you were the GM or ownership, wouldn’t 4+ years of generally mediocre teams not be enough evidence to say he’s not the guy? If you actually believe Bowles is the right guy, you are in an extreme minority, and you’re wrong. Aren’t you sick of mediocrity year after year? Has winning the NFCS landfill ever been impressive in your mind? If so, you and I are different kinds of fans.

SoCalBucsFan79, listen, I have been a diehard loyal Bucs fan since 1979. I had no idea that Central FL had a NFL team until then. We’ve got some yahoos on here who have no clue what constant double digit losing seasons are like. You and I do, and it sure isn’t fun. This whole Bucs team is light years removed from those pathetic ones. I’ll criticize them, but I also know their history. Sure wish some of the blowhards on here would get lost!
