Todd Bowles: Here Comes The Blitz

Pressure expected.
Joe is pretty sure new Bucs rookie starting quarterback Jalon Daniels dreamed of someday playing the Packers or the Cowboys or the Steelers when he was a kid.
Who knew he would play all three in his first scheduled three starts in the NFL? Provided Daniels doesn’t get hurt, or doesn’t play so badly he gets pulled, Daniels will face those three storied franchises in back-to-back-to-back weeks.
The Bucs host the Packers on Sunday with a road trip to Dallas for a Thursday night game next week, and two weeks from Sunday host the Steelers.
KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles had his day-after presser today and he has a pretty good idea what opposing defenses will do with Daniels in the next three weeks.
“Depends on what kind of scheme, but, you know, I’m sure they’ll blitz him a lot and show him a bunch of different looks,” Bowles said. “And I’m sure he’s going to get a lot of pressure.”
That’s just what most teams do to a rookie quarterback. Especially a guy making his first starts in the league.
Imagine how wild it would be if, in the next three games, suddenly Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka’s targets and catches spike and the Bucs offense breaks out of its slumber.
Would we have a quarterback controversy in Tampa Bay all of a sudden? Hey, desperate coaches sometimes do desperate things.

You know after yesterday I considered our season pretty much over.With that said I am actually looking to see the kid play. I mean I have no expectations and I don’t think he will be any worse that Baker has been sorry to say. The kid has moxy and moves well in the pocket. He has a great arm and a lot of energy. Hopefully the O Line plays better knowing he is a rookie. The offense was terrible yesterday!!. Maybe a breath of fresh air is good for everyone. I mean comon we are already 0-3 so put him in!!!!.

I told you Todd would have a good defense out there against The Viknbecause he would actually give a crap a little. I thoight we would win but Zac Robinson is just as bad as Bowles. Too bad we dont have Liam Cohen heck ill take Dave( motivational speaker) Canales over Bowles every day of the week. I’ve never seen such a wasted group of talent. Yuck

One thing is for certain. If Jalon does well and we win even one of those games (hopefully we do), Baker will come back chomping at the bit to play lights out and prove he’s the #1.
Maybe the controversy wouldn’t be a bad thing.

The Bucs don’t face another D like the Vikings until week 17 against the Rams. I’m not expecting miracles, but a few wins would be nice.
Wasn’t it Ebuka that got hit in the back with the football? Maybe Daniels should concentrate on getting Godwin the ball.

Great bottom-line question Joe, but me thinks the only possible answer is ‘It depends’. IF Daniels goes 3-0 in his first 3 starts, and the team plays well behind him, Todd would be hard-pressed to reinsert Baker into the starting role & possibly lose that momentum.
The more likely scenario though is that the Bucs go 1-2 (maybe 2-1) with Daniels at the controls. Todd may be under some pressure in that scenario to reinsert Baker (given what the Glazers are having to pay him now) to see if he can get it together and win some games.

He sure as hell didn’t dream of an Oline that is as porous as a sieve, WRs that cant get separation or hold on to balls, a TE that cant block or catch and an OC that is a total moron. i feel sorry for the kid, he is going to be running for his life the whole game.

Noticed BTW that the Vikings traded JJ McCarthy to the Giants. Not much talent out there right now to assume the backup role for Jalon Daniels. Wondering if they’re working on bringing Jake Browning back (looks like he’s still available).

Coach is always right about his upcoming opponents. The gameplans always are impeccable. But there’s no need for extra, in fact, maybe they don’t blitz him at all. Todd is the master of disguise and creating confusion.

Drunkinybor, I’m pretty sure Canales and especially Coen saved Bowles job for a couple years. Keep in mind Bowles picked Robinson just like he picked his buddy the special teams coach last year.

The O line is a mess. It’s probably the changes in scheme and strategy implemented by Zac Robinson. He changed the blocking schemes to fit his system. That’s the reason the O Line is confused and a sieve. The Bucs do not have Bijan Robinson or anyone remotely close. The offensive system installed this year does not work. The coaching staff is too self absorb to realize anything of that magnitude. Nothing changes until there’s a complete ‘expensive’ several year overhaul with a new staff and new general manager. Win or lose it will be intersting to watch. The Vike game was too except for losing in the last few minutes due to Bwles normal Blunders. Should be fun especially ifucs win and the Pack Attack at Ray Jay is Blown away. They have everything to lose.
