“I Feel Like I Always Feel Comfortable Playing At Cincinnati”

Baker Mayfield is very confident when it comes to marching into the Bengals’ home turf in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday and delivering a strong game.
Mayfield loves playing road games, but Cincinnati hits a little different, he explained to the Green Light podcast.
“Going on the road playing Cincy, Week 1’s gonna be fun. I feel like I always feel comfortable playing at Cincinnati,” Mayfield said. “And then coming back home with Cleveland Week 2, is exciting.
“Good matchups throughout the whole year, honestly. And Sunday night in Chicago I think is one that — I haven’t played at Chicago yet — like historically being a football fan, you look forward to going to Soldier Field.”
As a rookie with Cleveland in 2018, Mayfield torched the Bengals in Cincinnati with 4 touchdowns passes in a 35-20 Browns win. He had a bad game there in a 2019 win, but bounced back a year later with a “W” from a five-touchdown-pass afternoon. Mayfield also won there in 2021 and had a solid game in 2022, that time for the Panthers.
That’s a 4-1 record with 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. No wonder he’s comfortable.

I’m confident Baker will play well. Cincy overhauled their defense, but I’m still not convinced it’ll be any good.
Unfortunately, I’m not convinced about ours either. And that’s what it’s going to come down to. The defense sure looks good on paper. I want to see it on the field.

The AFC North is not a tough division to play against
They use to be a very, very tough division
And the same can be said about the NFC South

This is an interesting game for both teams. Both teams have aspirations for a big playoff run. Both teams had really bad defenses last year. Until I see positive results from the Bucs secondary, cb, McColumn I remain skeptical of him and the secondary. The Bengal defense I need to see too. This game could be a really high scoring game if both defenses prove to be similar to last year.

ok I will drink the Kool-Aid y’all are chugging – cotton candy dreams of a 10-7 season – I will ignore power rankings FanDuel DraftKings Polymarket ESPN The Athletic etc etc – mostly – I will assume losses to LAC LAR DAL – maybe too harsh – so I will sweeten it with a sweep of the NFC South – for realism I suggest losses to BAL CIN CHI DET – sooo the Bucs MUST win CLE PIT MIN GB – that means a
3-1 start then 6-3 at the bye – maybe – maybe not – but the easiest part of the schedule is the first 4 games – has to be 3-1 or it’s over

The Bucs defense needs to put pressure on Joe Barrow and make him a one dimensional player by stopping their running game. This would allow the Bucs defensive line to pin back their ears and force hurried passes and create a couple of interceptions.
This would give Baker more opportunities to score and win their opening game on the road. Go Bucs

Evidently you haven’t watched the Bucs the last couple of years. If the Bucs do get a lead, they’ll go into a “Prevent Defense”, which doesn’t work. That’s Todd Bowles, though.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals are going to be tough, no doubt. But, if there’s one thing I’ve learned since Baker has been a Buccaneer, it’s never underestimate Baker Mayfield and the Bucs !! You know what I mean, like the Seahawks last year the Eagles, the Texans, and the Lions, all those games our Bucs were not supposed to win!

Pretty encouraged by those Baker numbers in Cincy.
This team has a real shot to start 4-0 or 5-0 this season. Of course then you hear a bunch of noise and things go south.

Burrow has said he thinks they have a SB squad this year. They, like us, are betting on a vastly improved defense and they, like us, have added a lot of talent to their D.

Ironically he plays at Paul Brown Field who coached the Browns,and owned the Bengals.
