Buccaneers Honor Vita Vea With Mural On Stadium Facade
August 2nd, 2026Vita Vea demands a trade and won’t practice with the team.
The Bucs respond by honoring him with his image on their stadium, one seen by tens of thousands of people daily driving by.
Yes, the Bucs adorned the four corners of The Licht House with murals honoring Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin, Vea and Antoine Winfield, Jr. The annual display was completed late last week.
Joe wonders whether Vea’s mentor, Ndamukong Suh, has an opinion on the Bucs growing Vea’s brand while he pouts about his contract that will pay him roughly $18 million if he plays this season.
Joe’s not sure what message this sends to fans and players.
What a strange couple of weeks it’s been.

That’s like corporate America having a pizza party instead of giving pay raises.

The decision, planning, and design of those murals were likely completed before the latest contract disputes became heated. It also may signal that both Baker and Vita are going nowhere.

I think the elite players on this team are beginning to realize “Why beat my brains out when this team is not going anywhere?” Hence Evans and all the cream of crop. What’s next? Wirfs?

Sounds about like todays workforce. The ones who stand around and laugh with the boss get the promotion. The skilled labor busting tail in the field has to take on more responsibility for the same pay.

If hate rules your life, you better enhance your health insurance. Go find something or somebody to love.

ah yeah, decided before all the huplah. If I am them, It also says we like you but we don’t want to really pay you, how is this

The right thing to do is play out this contract, get his $18M and then move on. Oh and if he really refuse to play during the season, put a big red X on the mural. lol. Sorry, I just don’t have any sympathy for a guy making $18M a year.

pout? really?
what a muse!!!
August 2nd, 2026 at 10:28 am
Tristan Wirfs deserves to be on a mural before any of those guys. Duh.

Wasn’t famous Jameis almost on the side of RJS the same year he had those personal conduct issues with the uber driver? PR and media types had to work overtime to fix that mess.

When are they erecting the Todd Bowles statue?
August 2nd, 2026 at 10:43 am
It can easily be painted over.
August 2nd, 2026 at 10:53 am
Replace Vea with Wirfs!!!!!
August 2nd, 2026 at 11:44 am
Trade VV for a second and get something for him now. What are you going to get for him in 2027, nothing
August 2nd, 2026 at 12:00 pm
I don’t recall Vea pouting or making any public statements about his contract situation or even saying he was holding in or out. I think he’s handling himself like a professional.

________
I’m guessing it’s going to take quite some time to acquire the massive amount of “material” for that work of art.
August 2nd, 2026 at 2:13 pm
The mural says one of two things:
1. Goodbye
or
2. Have a guilt trip.

He takes a lot do snaps off.
He has grey hair because of too much alcohol.
He is too nice and never plays angry.
I definitely support trading him for a 1st round and 4th round pick.

I thought he tweaked his back, and that is what Boweles said.
August 2nd, 2026 at 9:45 pm
Everyone bashing him here will switch to praise if he gets a sack or turnover against the Bengals. Everyone on this blog would do the same thing Vita’s doing in his spot. We all want to be paid what we can get or at least what we feel we’re worth.

All these guys whine about wanting the ‘security’ of a long term deal.
Then they sign said deal, only to whine partially through it because they are ‘underpaid’, thanks to the way contracts rise year-over-year.
Would any of them take a paycut if the reverse were ever true (salaries declined – unlikely, of course). No. Of course not.
Vea signed a deal, which at the time, paid him at the top of the DT payscale. He could have signed for two years, then cashed in again. Instead, he chose the ‘security’.
All of you people saying ‘pay the man’ want to pay him for what he’s done. That’s not how it works. You get paid for what they think you will do. In his case, he’s a 31 y.o DT who plays a position where the performance dropoff happens suddenly and drastically at this age. If the Bucs sign him to a 4 year contract at 27 mil per, that contract will age like milk, and Licht knows it. He might have 1-2 more good years left. 20-21 mil for two years is reasonable. If he were 27 or 28, then yeah, he’d be worth it.
Paying Vea a top of the market salary is far riskier than paying Baker. Both are risky, but Vea is worse.

pouting?…lol…
baker is the one thats poutinglol…replace his mural with Wirfs
GO BUCS!!!

To be completely fair… those murals take a very long time to make. They aren’t paint, they’re printed, which means the decision was made to put Vea up there before he started fussing about his pay.
