Rams Trade For Myles Garrett

June 1st, 2026

New Bucs edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad.

The Buccaneers’ home opener against the Browns just got a little easier — and their road to the NFC Championship game probably got a shade tougher.

This afternoon, the Rams made a heck of an all-in move trading with the Browns for beastly future Hall of Fame edge rusher Myles Garrett.

Per various sources, including SiriusXM NFL Radio, Los Angeles is reported to have coughed up Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse (the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year) and a 2027 first-round pick, in addition to compensation currently being negotiated.

Garrett will now team up with the Rams’ remaining Pro Bowl edge rusher, Byron Young.

Joe heard of this deal and thought, ‘No wonder the Rams didn’t draft Rueben Bain,’ as McVay explained. Joe also wondered considered making a move for Garrett.

The Rams are determined to get to the Super Bowl this season, which could be the last for quarterback Matthew Stafford. Suddenly, Joe doesn’t feel greedy asking for Von Miller over Chris Braswell.

  1. Sam Says:

Bucs needed to do this 2 seasons ago. Always behind

  2. Buddha Says:

Rumored that this is the last year for McVay in LA. He’s all in and is largely bankrupting the Rams. Quite risky considering the quality of the NFC West and the age on the Quarterback.

  3. BigZ Says:

Now Sneed is a real GM!
No risk it, no biscuit….so much for that motto…

  4. Bucsfan951 Says:

The rich get richer! The Bucs are perfectly content with the status quo with this defense it looks like. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Honestly, who thinks this Bucs team can hang with this Rams team? Anyone? I am all ears!

  5. BigZ Says:

100 Sam.. I said the same about Crosby last year.

  6. Ash Says:

Jared verse is pretty good too dunno if it got much easier if at all.

  7. Allen Lofton Says:

Matthew Stafford is entering his declining years which is why the Rams are desperate ? knowing 2026 is their make or break year. Baker is entering a four year window to add a Super Bowl to his resume.

  8. Stpetematt Says:

How in the *HECK* do the Rams have salary cap space for Miles Garrett on top of that offense???

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Getting the best player in football, who will continue to be a top star for at least a few more seasons, for a 5th round LB and a future late 1st round pick is hardly risky.

The same way the Bucs kept adding guys.

Kick the can down the road using void years.

  11. BigZ Says:

LA was supposed to suck after Stafford trade. Nope. Oh wait, the Ramsey trade, nope. Nice job on bargain basement shopping. Oh, I still love the Godwin deal. Nope…
    This move sucks 4 us…

  12. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Wait, don’t we have the Browns week 1?

  13. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Joe – why the picture of Muhammed?

Giving up Verse, who was a high first round pick by the way, for an aging Garrett is risky but I get it. Tossing next years 1st round pick is costly too. We shall see.

  14. Bee Says:

The Rams are actually contenders so thats why they’re blowing the budget. Remember when the Bucs did that with Brady? Ahh, the good old days. The rich get richer it seems. Rams with the MVP added the best defensive player in the league. There’s so much excitement with the Bucs that the Joes are posting Rams news. Lol…I kid I kid, sorta.

Like I predicted the Bucs wouldn’t spend a lot of money this off-season and they’ve done just that. All of the non-moves show what ownership thinks of this team.

  15. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

    Verse was picked #19 overall.

  16. Kenton Smith Says:

Week 2. And I was really looking forward to Mayfield and Garrett getting after it. Patience is hard earned and I can wait for that game.

  17. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

We open at Cincy. Not Cleveland. We won’t ever do these kind thing of deals.
Not sure how they pull off his 40 million salary

  18. KABucs Says:

The Rams will be screwed financially in a couple years. And they better hope Garrett is a unicorn and plays well into his 30s because he’s 30 now.

Jared Verse is it 25-year-old who is a 19th pick overall and was ROTY. Had 7.5 sacks last season currently 25 yo. There’s no arguing that Garrett is the better player/passrusher but it’s still a risky move giving the age differences. Would you trade Diaby and a first for Garrett? Hmmmm
    Probably ?

  19. donuts Says:

I wish we had owners that really wanted to win at all costs like the LA Rams owner. Hey but we have our first round draft picks!

  20. KABucs Says:

Garrett and Bain on the same line would be crazy.

  21. Cleanhouse Says:

Smart move by Cleveland- surprised they gave up Verse

I was dreaming we’d somehow trade for Verse

  22. BigZ Says:

LA has Young who is a monster…no need for Bain.

  23. LynchMob50 Says:

Sneed > Licht Not even close

McVay > Bowels Light years apart

    Stafford > Mayfield Galaxies apart

Rams > Bucs One wants to win, the other is happy with losing

    It’s a Bucs life!!!

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“We won’t ever do these kind thing of deals.
Not sure how they pull off his 40 million salary”

Okay, I knew we played the Browns within the first month of the season.

I don’t think it’s $40M that LA is going to be on the hook for, but they will have to pay out w/e guaranteed money left on the deal. Garrett had bonuses baked into his deal and from what I’m seeing his salary is about $23M this year.

  25. Beeej Says:

Rams alREADY traded #1, #5, #6 this year and #3 next year for McDuffie. A few years and they’re on Saints zone

  26. BigZ Says:

Remember, LA was supposed to suck after all the picks they gave for Stafford, nope. Oh wait. They will suck after all the picks they gave for Ramsey, nope. Wait, wait, wait. They will suck after this deal…. probably not.

Because of their GM. Sneed is special.

Still waiting for them to suck while we are, mid….

So much for no risk it, no biscuit.

  27. Saskbucs Says:

Garrett is clearly the best pass rusher in the league and it’s a win now move but I question the process.

If Ty Simpson is the real deal I guess this all works out but I am not sure I am taking…

Ty Simpson (riding the bench), Garrett, no 2027 1st and no Verse
    Over
Verse, Bain and keeping my 2027 1st.

Who knows until later I guess.

  28. Todd Says:

Taking Von Miller would require GM Jason Licht making tacit admission that he made a mistake drafting Braswell and this is why that will never happen.

  29. Not a good look Says:

I agree about now seeing why McVay didn’t want Bain Jr. now….

But his “explanation” and especially when you throw in that they drafted a QB to sit behind Stafford in Simpson made absolutely no sense. Him and Les being at odds and having a disconnect on Draft night makes a helluva lot more sense than Bain not getting them to a SB THIS season, but Ty Simpson would (same “logic” applies)

Now if anyone is still in the get another pass rusher/edge rusher crowd. Jason may want to call up New York for S’s & G’s and see if Abdul Carter wants to get out of town. You never know.

  30. Stretch-O-Matic Says:

In the words of the Buccaneer staff…”Now that’s how you win a Super Bowl!”

    Verse was picked #19 overall.

    ——–

    Ooops, my bad.

I was confusing him with Byron Young, who was actually a 3rd round LB, and has averaged 9 sacks a year.

  32. Joseph C Simmons Says:

This move just screams “LA Rams”. How do you give up a guy like Verse? Garrett is amazing, but he probably just had the best year of his career and it’s a slow slide down from here.

When I first heard the Rams were getting Garrett I assumed it was for picks, and thought “great move”. But giving up a stud like Verse who is NOT a pick, has already established himself as a star so there’s no risk of him being a bust, AND is still on his rookie contract? I don’t like this deal for the Rams at all.

  33. KABucs Says:

Sarcasm is pretty funny putting Al-Quadin Muhammad’s pic up there.
Hey, at least we grabbed somebody.
Hoping he makes us forget about Reddick.

    ———

Yes, how do you give up a guy for the best player in football, who might only be the best player in football for a few more years.

    LOL!

  35. Not a good look Says:

….also on some other trade news and HIGHLY predictable, the Fightin’ Russini’s traded for AJ Brown

Lots to say regarding this very interesting trade dynamic and predictability, but I’ll lock & key it from here!

  36. Jarrett Says:

    Joe

Didn’t I just say this a few days ago

The reason the Bucs will never beat the Rams is because the Rams aren’t afraid to TRADE PICKS

THE RAMS ARENT AFRAID TO GET A LOCKDOWN CORNER

THE RAMS ARENT AFRAID TO GET A TOP PASH RUSHER

I LITERALLY SAID THIS IN THE COMMENT SECTION 2 days ago lol

I wouldn’t be surprised if Aaron Donald comes outta retirement for this season

  37. LynchMob50 Says:

Rams to the SB in 2026

  38. Rod Munch Says:

    Jarrett Says:
I LITERALLY SAID THIS IN THE COMMENT SECTION 2 days ago lol

    ———-

Yeah, but I said it 3 days ago.

  39. Not a good look Says:

Rams trading away picks like the Tampa Bay Lightning and Julien BriseBois these days. Holy smokes.

  40. Jarrett Says:

    Now look at the Bucs

Still no lockdown corner on the roster

Still no top pass rusher on the roster

But we got another rookie class we finna rely on

Meanwhile Bowles is still saying “We like the guys we got” and “Our young guys need the reps”

Goodness gracious. ITS A BUCS LIFE smh

  41. BucsFan81 Says:

Let’s be honest the Bucs are just a better version of the Browns right now. Next year they will be getting a new coach and rebuild. Bowles going to be lucky if he can even compete in the division little less a championship.

  42. DailyRich Says:

Who do we have equivalent to Verse that the Browns would have accepted in this trade?

  43. View from 132 Says:

Why does this surprise anyone? They have a ton of cap room upcoming AND know Stafford is in his last season.

  44. buc4evr Says:

I’m just happy we have Chris Braswell and no big Salary Cap problems like the Rams. Just think, if this team stays healthy we can go 9-8, win the division again and lose in the first round of the playoffs to the Rams. lol.

  45. Stpetematt Says:

Verse has gotta be pissed right about now. BIG shoes to fill, too. On a BAD team.

  46. adam from ny Says:

    rams are going for it…

so mike evans watched sf grab a wr early in the draft, and now the rams bring garrett into his new division…

big mike just might be asking himself what is going on

  47. Cornelius Says:

I didn’t realize Verse had only 4.5 sacks and 7.5 sacks these last 2 seasons. He had a great post season his rookie year which is what was stuck in my mind, but that makes this trade look a lot more like a no brainer.

Verse probably values like a R2-R3 pick. A r1 + R2 when you’re likely picking late, for defensive MVP is great value if you get 2-3 great seasons out of him.

  48. AnonymousBUCsFan76 Says:

The Bucs, a day late and a dollar short as usual. :(…

  49. Fanofdabucs Says:

This will fumble to watch. Nothing better than watching a team who gives up yoms of 1st rounders, good young players and locks themselves in future cap hell..and if they don’t win it all, it’s a complete failure.

Would be fun to watch this all come crashing down.

  50. Steve V. Says: Says:

Doubting Thomas’s,who cares about the Rams? Any givin Sunday! Like Green Bay shocked the world and got Parsons! Wippeee!

  51. Steve V. Says: Says:

Please guys make me throw up saying he was great till he gut hurt ,Parsons that is..

  52. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

So people want us give up 1,2,3 round picks, a good young defensive player for a 30 year old pass rusher WHO HAS NO IDEA HOW TO DROP BACK INTO COVERAGE ?? Todd says no way, and Jason says he ain’t giving any picks.

  53. a-bomb Says:

What a panic move by the Rams. Is Garrett really THAT much of an upgrade from Verse? Rams have bigger problems- the SB champs are in their division, the 49ers are still formidable and they don’t really know whether Nacua will play this season. Say what you will, but I was in BOA stadium last January and saw the Panthers give the Rams all that they can handle.

  54. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Clearly some of ya’ll are suffering with the value that comes with Myles Garrett as a player.

Are we really questioning if a guy who’s been all-pro every year the last 6 years? 95 sacks in that span?

    Are ya’ll okay? 117 TFLs?

Jared Verse will be lucky if he does that in his career, not to mention Garrett immediately improves a secondary LA was rebuilding anyway

  55. Pickgrin Says:

    I feel sorry for Verse….

The problem with going ‘all in’ for a 1 or 2 year window is it better work.

If you don’t win a Super Bowl – and then have to pay back $150-$200M over the next 3 years – with “nothing” to show for it – that’s a hard pill to swallow.

The Bucs have just now – this year – found the light (Licht?) at the financial end of the “all in for Brady” tunnel.

2026 is the first year since 2021 that Tampa Bay has not been $50M+ over the cap headed into the new league year.

Was it worth it? YES. Because we WON a Super Bowl. The all in move worked. And because Licht has done such a good job drafting, that the team has stayed competitive while rebuilding and paying off massive cap debt….

Will this all in move by the Rams work? We shall see. They have a TON of $ tied up in Stafford over the next 2 years (+$30M in dummy years that comes due in 2028 if not re-worked or re-signed).

It’s risky because if either Stafford or Garrett gets injured and out for the year – it likely blows the whole plan up….

Bold move though – definitely have to acknowledge that….

  56. BuckyBucs Says:

For those that think Bucs could or should have gotten him. He has no trade clause unlikely to waive for non contender

  57. Bradinator Says:

All of you complaining that we didn’t trade for Garrett, take a moment and think what it’s like to be a Browns fan, lol! It’s like listening to the legendary radio call of the Hindenburg disaster, “Oh, the humanity!” over and over again every year.

  58. Leopold Stotch Says:

Buddha, this would only be McVays last year because of pride. He is not making these moves. This is ALL Snead. From FSR I forget the host, but he does Saturday afternoons… He is saying the Rams have a hierarchy and McVay is not getting credit, and it’s ticking him off. Snead is gifting him a roster and the way the front office and owner think is they can get just anout any decent coach. I mean there was a whole thing about Simpson getting drafted. McVay has to deliver and if he does or doesn’t won’t matter to the organization. They feel they can get ANYONE. HC is kind of a figure head of sorts I guess

  59. Lokog Says:

Its what winning teams do and the bucs well they couldn’t even beat the utep miners

  60. 813bucboi Says:

Licht will say, BUCS were in on it but felt good about what we have lol….

    RAMS are SB or BUST….

Folks saying Verse for Garrett is a wash are delusional lol….Verse won’t have the coaching or talent he had in LA….plus Garrett wants a SB ring bad lol….he’ll be extra motivated and so will Les, McVay and Stafford

    GO BUCS

  61. SlyPirate Says:

    Verse + a 1st + $40M Cap
    Great move by the Browns

Best Pass Rusher in the NFL
Good win now move. They have a window. Might as well go for it.

  62. JimBobBuc Says:

I could see the Bucs doing something similar – next year:

IF Bain, Josiah Trotter, and Keonte Scott play well this year.

IF Baker has a good year this year.

IF the Bucs make a deep run in the playoffs.

At the moment, we need to see if these defensive rookies can play, and if the Baker/Zach team scores lots of points.

  63. Steve V. Says: Says:

Thats the fact Jack! Crosby and the Raiders come to mind.Plus Garrett is older and due for an injury

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Wow

Trading a young DROY, that’s ballsy.

  65. Lokog Says:

My opinion is that the bucs are closet to getting the 1st overall pick than a nfc championship game first they need a qb then they need a defense and we have nothing close to it

  66. bakerfan Says:

Rams go to the Super Bowl last year??? Didn’t think so, they are fighting to get past the others in NFC. We will see.

  67. Miller5252 Says:

YaYa and a first round pick for Crosby then??? First round pick and who for Crosby? Seems like a 25th or higher first round pick and a DE for Garrett is a steal!!! Why can’t we do the same. I don’t see why we wouldn’t have done that for Garrett. Easy call!

  68. Hopes on 2027 Says:

Dang we could have used him covering receivers!

  69. Rob5 Says:

Ok riddle me this..after all you guys ridiculous doomer takes
on here how many Super Bowels do the Rams have 2 and how many do the Bucs have 2! …the rams have a lot of tough games this year lets just see how it goes..

  70. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Locog. We are stuck right in the middle between 1st pick and NFC championship game. That’s what a 7-9 win HC gets you. Mediocrity from an above average roster

  71. Surf Says:

Yaya diaby and verse are the same. Verse is overrated 7 sack guy. Diaby does the same

  72. yucboy Says:

It would be funny if they didnt make it to the super bowl

  73. David Says:

    Win for Cleveland.
Win with an * for Rams.

Cleveland got a lot and out of a big contract
Rams just went all in for a Super Bowl before Stafford retires

  74. #99 the big fella Says:

Rams are going to hurting really bad in a couple yrs for sure

  75. jcscycles Says:

    Very foolish move.

  76. StormyInFl Says:

Glad the Bucs didn’t do this. The asking price would be Bain, + a 1st and then some.

    No thanks.

  77. Larrd Says:

Maxx Crosby is still out there. Diaby and a 2?

  78. Oxycondomns Says:

if rams knew they were doing this move wouldnt they have picked bain if they thought he was good enough? you lose a young talented edge in verse for an older one. wouldn’t you want to draft bain then can rotate edges keep garrett fresh and eventually replace him with bain. they probably didnt think that highly of bain

  79. Dale99 Says:

    3rd and 28.

Elite players are not interested in playing here. Part of the trade especially with a contract of that size, has a lot to do if the player actually wants to go to the new team. I’d be willing to bet that Licht did make a call and was less than positive that Garrett would even want to play here. All the Bowles apologists can scream all you want to about injuries, but players do not want to come here voluntarily, and the reasons start and stop with Bowles being the HC!

  80. DS Says:

Licht clutching is draft pick lol and homegrown players lol

  81. ChiBuc Says:

Instead of receipts, maybe Jason should a pin up of Sneed in his office for inspiration.

JL is in jr high with his grudges, while Sneed is moving on like A.I.

  82. ChiBuc Says:

I bet Myles ain’t worried about the taxes either.

Lose millions of dollars of year to live in a communist state like California.

Oh have to live in Ohio.

    Yikes. That’s a rough one…

  86. Beeej Says:

The only similar player the Bucs have to Verse is Diaby. So we lose a pretty good YOUNG edge rusher to acquire a VERY good OLD edge rusher, and we STILL only have the one?

  87. Mort Says:

The “All In” Rams drafted a backup QB in the first round this year. Make it make sense.

  88. Cardiac kidz Says:

Ate we going to make a trade for Queen?

  89. Coburn Says:

I know people want a shiny pass rusher but it would have made little sense for the Bucs. We are far from all in this year. Likely a lame duck coach and a new coach next year with a new defensive staff. Even if licht wanted in in it doubtful Glazers give their sign off

  90. Miller5252 Says:

I don’t get everyone saying “in a couple of years the Rams will be screwed.” Who cares about in a couple of years if you’re the Rams. Stafford will be gone, McVay will probably be gone and you’ll be blowing up the team at that point anyway. The Bucs put themselves in salary cap hell to try and win multiple Super Bowls and with this small window for the Rams I would 100% agree to go win what you can. Plus everyone has forgot about the guy who wore 99 for the Rams. The dude has been staying in killer shape and this might be the best time to talk him in to playing one more year, or if you win the first one, maybe he does a second win. I love the fact it’s all in for the next couple of years no matter the cost down the road. Look at all the coaches and GM’s that get fired every year because it’s a what have you done for me lately. The Rams are 100% in to win now mode after being so close the last 2 years! Good luck Evans! You just picked one crazy A** division to go play in!

  91. Megoat13 Says:

I agree Joe. Would really like to see von here, can’t have too many edge rushers and he might stay healthy because he wouldn’t have to be a horse

  92. LynchMob50 Says:

Don’t worry folks, Bowels is on the case! The defense will be humming!!!

    ?????????

  93. Eckwood Says:

Haaaaaaaaa the Rams or Browns wouldn’t trade Verse for Diaby with next years first thrown in ………Not a Chance !!

  94. Steve V. Says: Says:

Wynch,if the defense runs like your gator, itll be the best ever! You’ve got the angry part down, but the smarts im not so sure! Baker Bowles Baker Bowles Baker Bowles! Sleep well tonight!

  95. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Similar things said when we signed Thomas Brady. Sounds like Rams GM and HC are thinking 1-3 more years and cashing out… good for them. Who cares

  96. Hydra Says:

Pretty sure he will be wanting to cream Baker hard and often when they meet up. The revenge tour got easier week two but the rams game probably just got add3d to the list. Myles did ghost him when it ended in Cleveland and probably gave his blessing to the move. That game will be flexedto prime time. Wirfs and Goedeke need to be on.

  97. Tony Says:

    @LynchMob50

He’ll try & trade for Tryon.? He’ll want to bring him back

  98. Buc1987 Says:

BSPN said it was 3 draft picks 1st 2nd and 3rd.

  99. Saskbucs Says:

Rams were already the favorite and now overwhelmingly so.

This seems like overkill when you addressed the secondary like they did. Not like their front 4 wasn’t pretty good before this move.

I don’t know if the Simpson move makes more or less sense now. I’d still be unhappy with that pick as a Rams fan.

Ioane, Bain or Lemon could have actually played and made them that much better. See how Ty pans out I guess.

  100. Saskbucs Says:

The picture and caption with Muhammed, pretty funny. Well done, Joe.

  101. adam from ny Says:

let’s see how he does over there with the change of scenery…and the pop cali lifestyle luring him into all types of stuff…

cleveland was one thing, la is another…

and he is just about at that point where he might be down-cycling

  102. sethery Says:

Licht took decisive action when he signed Brady. maybe he felt he had proof of concept with that roster outside of the QB position and with that in place he knew they were contenders. typically he plays it conservative and focuses on building a team.

maybe he isn’t as sold on this year’s team yet, and if we look strong across the board with mostly home grown talent this year, with a few obvious holes, then he whips out that checkbook and he finances a run for the trophy.

if we fall apart this year, he keeps farming. we only just finished paying off our Brady Super Bowl debt.

So that’s my guess but wth do I know lol

  108. jcscycles Says:

  109. Badbucs Says:

  110. Obvious One Says:

With all the comments about whether Licht tried to grab Garrett and such, you just have to ask WHY BOTHER if your Licht. Why bother? ESPECIALLY for the money.

Why bother??? ….. TODD BOWLES IS why you wouldn’t bother. Bowless Certainly ISN’T going to use Garrett properly. In fact it’s COMPLETELY FRUITLESS and the SUPER STAR would be absolutely wasted with Bowles asking him to fall into coverage. A Joke for a serious player to laugh about and to have nightmares about!

Secondly, do you Really Think that Myles Garrett would TOLERATE coming to this edge rushers “DEATH BED” to let BOZO THE BAZARRO CLOWN RUIN THEIR CAREER?? H311 NO!

NO EDGE RUSHER THAT CAN CONTROL HIS OWN DESTINY IS COMING TO TAMPA BAY WITH BOZO THE BAZARRO CLOWN IN CHARGE! NOT A CHANCE!

I’m not sure why some of you are actually “expecting” Licht to waste his time AND SACRIFICE HIS JOB chasing Big Game as long as Bowles is still trying to get us a new franchise QB. LUDICROUS!

  111. Mike Johnson Says:

With the roster they have, the Rams just increased their Super Bowl chances. Like him or not, Myles Garrett is straight up BEAST. Almost unstoppable.
