Baker Mayfield Touchdown Maker With Bucs

June 21st, 2026

“Keep doubting me, fools!”

Hopefully, things change this fall. For the better.

“This Joe” is still shook by Baker Mayfield’s woeful second half of last season. Yeah, there were a lot of factors why he stunk. Still, a franchise quarterback finds a way to win just one game instead of losing seven of the Bucs’ final nine (and not crap the bed against the tanking Dolphins), which cost the Bucs a playoff spot.

So which Mayfield will the Bucs get this fall,t he Mayfield that for 2 1/2 seasons was one of the NFL’s best? Or will fans get the second half of last season, which made many warmly reminisce of the good ol’ days with America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston?

Until Mayfield and the Bucs hit the skids after the bye, Mayfield has absolutely thrived.

In fact, in the past three years, even including the 2025 collapse, only Jared Goff has been a more dangerous quarterback than Mayfield has been in Tampa. Since the start of the 2023 season, only Goff has thrown more touchdowns than Mayfield — 101 to Mayfield’s 95.

Matt Stafford (90), Saint Lamar Jackson (86) and Josh Allen (82) round out the top five.

But hen you hear about great quarterbacks, national types (influenced by fantasy football?) fall over themselves when talking about Jackson, who has exactly one more playoff win in his career than Mayfield.

And you hear national media types wax about Stafford and Allen. But Mayfield? You hear much more scoffing and doubt than praise. Strange.

So, yeah, just looking at touchdown production, Joe understands why Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht and KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles are staunch defenders of Mayfield.

Yeah, Joe, that Dolphins game was tough to watch. Mayfield took the Bucs 70 yards on our first drive and hit Godwin with a 5 yard TD pass to give us a 7-0 lead. Then we kicked off. Miami threw a 63 yard touchdown pass to tie the game up in less than a minute. That encapsulated our defense in the 2025 season. Then we had a field goal blocked before half. That encapsulated our special teams in the 2025 season. Then Mayfield got hit in the back in a second and a half and fumbled. That encapsulated our 2025 OLine. At least we stopped their run game. Since we let Ewers throw 2 TD passes. Oops. They ran for 150 yards on 30 carries. At least we were able to muster 55 yards on the ground. Dadgummit, Joe. Mayfield sucks!

  2. Kenton Smith Says:

I do remember him throwing a pick which Miami quickly turned into another 75 yard TD drive. Mayfield totally sucks.

  3. Dacake Says:

Most interceptions in the last 3 seasons

    Geno Smith 41
    Baker Mayfield 37
    Tua Tagovailoa 36

  4. Dacake Says:

Baker also has the most fumbles in the last 3 years.

  5. Kenton Smith Says:

Dacake. Most picks last 3 seasons. Mahommes had 36 also. Allen had 34. Purdy had 33- in 40 games compared to 51 games for Baker. Lawrence had 33 picks but played 42 games. In fact, Baker had one of the lower pick rates per games played and passes thrown. And since you’re so smart Dacake, why don’t you tell us how many of those fumbles were turnovers. You sir, shouldn’t be wasting your time commenting on something that’s so obviously over your head.

  6. Dacake Says:

    Facts don’t lie

    Most Total Fumbles (2023–2025 Seasons)
    Baker Mayfield: 32
    Lamar Jackson: 25
    Jalen Hurts: 23

  7. Dacake Says:

Baker is too reckless with the ball. Hard to win when you don’t have the ball.

  8. Kenton Smith Says:

Dacake. You never answered the question. How many of those fumbles were turnovers?

  9. Dacake Says:

Who cares. When you fumble the ball you waste a down. Clearly you never played ball.

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

Dacake. I played alot of ball. Against alot of great players. Clearly, you don’t know how to analyze a ball player or a team. And you still haven’t answered the question.

  11. Dacake Says:

I will leave you with this:

    Lombardi’s Philosophy on Fumbles
He believed that if his team held the ball and moved the chains methodically, the opponent’s offense wouldn’t have time to score. Fumbles disrupted this control, giving the game away. He was famous for stating: “There is nothing you can do about fumbles except scream.”

  12. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Tristan Wirfs caught one of Baker Mayfield’s 95 touchdown passes. Mike Evans caught 27.

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

Inwoodjeremy. Mayfield has thrown 197 touchdowns in his first 8 years in the league. 170 TD passes if you scrub Evans 27. That 170 is still alot more TD passes than Drew Brees through his first 8 years. Let that sink in.

  14. Kenton Smith Says:

“Still, a franchise quarterback finds a way to win just one game instead of losing seven of the Bucs’ final nine (and not crap the bed against the tanking Dolphins), which cost the Bucs a playoff spot.”

Yes. It was Baker’s fault they could not hold 3rd & 28 and 4th & 14 and lost the Atlanta game.

Had Baker played better Defense on those two plays from the sideline, they make the playoffs and probably win the SB.

    Jesus. God.

  16. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Kenton that’s a lot of TDs. Always liked your positivity. I was getting nervous about Evans hauling in 28% of Baker’s TDs and absent on the roster. Makes me feel a little better.

  17. Ugo Says:

Joe, you said” Still, a franchise quarterback finds a way to win just one game instead of losing seven of the Bucs’ final nine”.

    You mean like:
    – Matthew Stafford and his 8 game losing streak in 2010
    – Troy Aikman and his 11 game losing streak
    – Caleb Williams (8 games)
    – Trevor Lawrence (7 games)
    – Derek Carr
    – Warren Moon

None of these guys are franchise QBs, right? Quarterbacks, even franchise ones, have slumps in their careers. As an example, Mahomes lost 6 of the last 10 games he started in 2025, before his injury but I guess he isn’t a franchise qb then since he didn’t figure out a way to win 1 more

TLDR: your argument is flawed and not indicative of reality

  18. Final Straw Says:

Lee thinks repeating the same incorrect assessment over and over makes it true.

He does this about so many things. He should be careful of this pattern.

Mayfield never collapsed in 2025. His supporting elements failed over and over again, but his play remained largely consistent.

Competent all-22 analysis showed this. Ronde Barber and the (very) few other competent analysts who follow TB closely pointed this out.

  19. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

jeremy: Mike accounted for 28% of Baker td passes while missing 23% of the games. That overall is a unhealthy balance. In fairness, in year 1 Mike had 13 of baker 28 td passes. That is INSANE,like 47% and baker wasnt good in 2023, he got better at the end of the season.

The last 2 years combined is like 19% with all the missed games. Overall, its a unhealthy stat but its pumped up by the outlier(2023) to be fair. Bu tyou have to take into account baker 3 year stats what thye are without his outlier. What is concerning is that we are 4-8 the last 2 years without Mike Evans.

  20. Well well well Says:

Funny how when it’s a good article about a subject that the haters can’t twist into something negative they just disappear from the comments. #2 in TD’S in the league. Pretty much says it all. In other words, if we had a decent defense we would be winning most of our games. Kinda sounds like it’s a team sport… with a qb that’s banging away but the defense may not be holding up their end but certain people want to blame the qb because they aren’t intelligent enough to see the real problem.

  21. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

I love how you blame the 19th ranked defense and 21st offense gets a pass after being ranked 23rd in 2023. So a offense ranked in the 20s 2 out of 3 years is fine. you can ignore it all you want but the defense was 7th in points allowed .

Im going to keep saying it until you guys adress it. The 2024 Commanders defense gave up more points then ours. They went 12-5. Allowed over 35ppg int he playoffs too. But 2024 Daneils was a better and more impactful Qb then even the fluke version of baker. sad. Even in his fluke season he couldnt crack the top 10 in mvp voting. What a joke.

Lets go to 2025. Bears defense was 29th. They went 11-6 in a tougher division and won a playoff game. Sf defense was worse then ours (#20) but they still went 12-5 in a tough division and won a playoff game.

But go ahead, blame the defense AGAIN. I just gave you 3 teams in 2 years with worse defense then ours but all of those teams had better, younger and CHEAPER qbs. Those guys make plays not excuses. You guys kill me that every qb just has a perfect situation. The excuses are old and tired.

Do you know how iditoic blame a failure on the better performing part of a operation?Sorry bud, 2/3 years the defense has been better then the offense. Im a season ticket holder for over a decade. Do better.

If Mayfiled hadn’t thrown the interception when trying to hit Evans and if he hadn’t missed a wide open Egbuka over the middle, which would have iced the game, Atlanta never would have had the opportunity for the 3rd and 28 or the 4th and 14. Everybody wants to pin that one totally on the defense but it was the offense that gave that one away. Go back and watch the game and refresh your memory, especially the interception on the Evans throw. That one was a real head scratcher.

  23. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Baker was inaccurate (all game) vs Atlanta. Threw #13 what looked like it was going to be a hospital ball but luckily wasnt. As usual missd open nguys (6/8 seasons 25th or lower in completion %) and took bad sack AFTER the interception. As for the pick, WTF? All bake bake had to do was not turn the ball over. He could have took 3 straight knees and we punt and we win that game.

look at that Commanders game. Their #1 wr would have been our #3. Daniels as a qb was their leading rusher. Their defense gave up more points then ours. They went 12-5 in atougher division with a weaker roster.

Thats why Daneils as a rookie finished 7th in mvp voting and baker finished 11th- coulnt even crack the top 10 in a outlier season. Washington won 4 games they year before and went to a title game with a defense allowing over 35 ppg in the playoffs.

When your qb play “big boy” footbvall. No excuses. Im tired of dawg, grit, moxie, chips on shoulders, etc. its tired.

  24. Allen Lofton Says:

The Bucs have to pay Baker top money to keep him for pursuing free agency. He a top 10 quarterback SO PAY HIM!!!!

  25. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

No he isnt lol unless we talking popularity. As a player, NO! Cyber, in the Atlanta game he could have literally took a knee for 3 snaps and punt and we win. Anthing except a turnover in that spot we win. Atlanta would have literally ran out of time.

  26. Oscar Says:

Mayfield has the 6th highest touchdown pass percentage since the start of the 2023 season at 5.7%. Baker is tied for the 7th highest interception percentage in that same span of time with a 2.2 % rate. He is tied with Drake Maye, Josh Allen, and Bryce Young. Patrick Mahomes comes right after that on the list at 2.1%. Touchdown percentage and interception percentage is what matters since it truly reflects the frequency at which a quarterback throws touchdowns and interceptions. Therefore the difference between his touchdown percentage and interception percentage is 3.5. That is 6th best in the NFL. Since he has played in every game since the beginning of 2023, he has a very large sample size. Those ahead of him are Jackson, Burrow, Stafford, Goff and Jordan Love. He’s Ahead of Purdy, Lawrence, Herbert, Prescott, Hurts, Mahomes and many others
by a very comfortable margin. Accomplished that with three different coordinators and with Todd Bowles as his head coach. I only mention that because Bakers detractors are oftentimes Bowles detractors as well. Sounds like he belongs in that 50 million club to me.

  27. Well well well Says:

BBBB as usual you twist the stats. The one stat that says it all was the year Baker WAS healthy and the offense was semi healthy like most teams it was 5th FIFTH and the defense was 18th. So when Baker is healthy he LEADS a team that is FIFTH in the league. So your pitiful argument doesn’t hold water as usual. At least you are learning how to use an and a better. I’m glad I could help!!

  28. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

2023 every skill payer started all 17 games and the offense was 23rd bud. Oline was healthy too. Yall lucky i get blocked so much and restricted so much on here. Bake rin 8 years had one high rated offense (2024). the other 7 years they were in the teens or 20s and he had more offenses finish in the 20s then the teens. But ok. So baker been hurt 7/8 years?

Im done for the night brodie. A dude on her eliterally got upset that I said baker should aim to be Jeff garcia for a 2 year run. WOW!! That was very nice to Baker.

WWW, your infatuated with me because i struck a nerve. get over it. Arizona here you and baker come!!!

  29. Kenton Smith Says:

Well well well. BBBB more than twists the stats. He says in 2025 that our defense ranked ahead of our offense. Our offense was 18th in the league in points scored. Sucked, only 22.4 points per game. But our defense was ranked 20th in the league in points allowed. Sucked, allowed 24.2 per game. There are other stats, so I’m not calling BBBB a baldfaced liar. But he’s a liar, and needs to be constantly fact checked. That’s another reason I’m done reading his posts.

  30. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Are we we taking yards or pints allowed? Kenton you know the difference. In YARDS allowed our defense was 19th and our offense was 21st. The offense was 23rd in yards. I ALWAYS say our defense in 2023 was 7th in points allowed. I say that Everytime. And I know you know that and you know the difference. I always say in the 2024 season the Commanders defense gave up more points then ours did. Where’s the lie? You guys act like piling up and attacking me bothers me. I could care less. September is coming. No excuses boys. The only thing that sucks is you guys are able to come after me and post and basically every list of mine is censored. That’s BS. I don’t really disrespect anyone or call anyone names. But Ok Kenton, we’ll see come September bud.

  31. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Kenton and WWW, I really got you guys on the ropes that you have to lie about me lying LOL. Just so you know when I run state,I don’t use AI. You act like ppl can’t look up the numbers I rattle off. Yes, in yards the offense was 23rd and 21st during the Baker error, I mean era. Please tell me the things I lie about? Even tho I get blocked for hours from responding..I’m not you,I look it up and let the truth be what it is. Baker being below.500 outside the NFC south I hid three years? Easy to look up. His W-L vs pro bowl QBs? When he had to throw 35-40x a game? His W-L when the defense gives up 21-27 points? The fact he has led one top 10 offense in 8 years? When he miss wide open receivers of course in going to bring up he has finished 25th or lower in 6/8 seasons. What should worry you Kenton and www, is not that I think he’s not good and the sane BUCS fans think he sucks but the Glazers have reservations. They don’t even have a guy to take over in place and still won’t commit. OUCH. After 2026 make sure you check in here from time to time. In 2027 when Baker is replaced in week 5 you can tell us how the Cards ” screwed Baker” and blame the Arizona heat.

  32. BatW Says:

To all the Baker Haters. Who are yo going to replace Mayfield with? Watson, Fields or Flacco. Are you going to draft a QB with pick 19 or later good luck with that oh and in 51 years we have never developed and signed a rookie QB to a second contract.

  33. Bat Says:

To all the Baker Haters. Who are yo going to replace Mayfield with? Watson, Fields or Flacco. Are you going to draft a QB with pick 19 or later good luck with that oh and in 51 years we have never developed and signed a rookie QB to a second contract.

  34. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Attaboy: But I do. www, what do I lie about? Numbers don’t lie..You think the Glazers treating him like this because….. why? Wait till you guys find out why #13 left and the fact the FO low balled Baker in hopes he didn’t take the contract. But hey you 2, he’s 31. Year #4 here. No excuses. If this season plays out the way I think I’m going to be even more insufferable for Baker cult members. Kenton, you admitted your not even a Bucs fan. GTFOH. If Baker got hurt it benched and we went to a SB, you and the cult would be pissed off lol. This isn’t the place for you all. But next year you guys can have a annual Baker convention in Oklahoma and you can update your homemade Baker Mayfield shrines. Remember,no excuses.

  35. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

September is coming. Year#4 here. No excuses boys.

  36. Stpetematt Says:

Team health is crucial. And TD’s are the most important QB stat. The best indicator of getting the job done. And Baker is a baller at producing TD’s!

    Sign him, do it NOW.

  37. Attaboy Says:

BBBB, by saying numbers don’t lie you are either lying right there or you don’t know anything about numbers. And IF you don’t know anymore than that about numbers, you don’t make the money you CLAIM you make. So you are either lying about the money you make or lying about numbers, take your pick. Why do you think the old saying “statistics lie and liars use statistics” exists 🤔 Again, you act like Evans left because of Baker. He left because he knows he isn’t going to win a superbowl with TB as the HC. Anyone that knows anything knows that’s why he left. But you think he left because he doesn’t like having qb that leads the league in PASSING TD’s since 2023. What a nimrod.
