DeMonte Capehart, Keionte Scott Arrive To Rookie Camp Injured

May 8th, 2026

Bucs rookie Keionte Scott.

Well, perhaps this is why Bucs rookie cornerback Keionte Scott fell in the draft where the Bucs could grab in him Round 4.

Scott met media today with a cast on his left hand/wrist.

Scott explained it was a wrist injury that affected him last season at the University of Miami and he had surgery prior to the NFL Scouting Combine, which was in late February.

“So [I] just got the plate out of it now, so now we’re on the better side of it. It’ll get better here and the cast will come off in 10 days,” Scott said.

Joe slumped hearing that. Sure, Scott should be fine, but this doesn’t sound like it was a minor procedure.

Scott is not alone on the rookie minicamp disabled list.

Bucs fifth-round pick defensive tackle DeMonte Capehart has a bum wrist too, Bowles said. “He can do some things, but we want to get it fully healed up.”

Keionte Scott had a minor wrist surgery
He will be ready for training camp
I was wondering when you were going to break the news

  2. Cleanhouse Says:

If they’re not injured/damaged goods before the draft, they’re not Buccaneers men. This is Licht’s m/o going way back. Simple as that. I’m not saying I condone it, I think it’s dumb. But who knows? Hope they all become hall of famers.

  3. Gene Deckerhoff2 Says:

    Season starts September

  4. Superfranky Says:

    I’m not concerned at all

  5. Lakeland Says:

It’s common now for these draftees to have minor surgery after the season
Because they are playing a lot more games now
And these are tough, physical games

  6. Saskbucs Says:

JPP played pretty high level ball with a club for a hand.

We won’t be worried about wrist injuries in May.

Keep your lower half healthy to run fast and your head and shoulders for knocking the snot outta people… all good.

  7. Bucnbeers Says:

He probably fractured his wrist. When I fractured my wrist they put a plate in it to hold it together. Once the bone grafted together the plate can be removed and the wrist is good as new.

  8. LynchMob50 Says:

Great. He’ll mix nicely with Morrison and McCollum on the injury report.

Same story different day. A Bowles special. Swiss cheese pass defense is fortified.

I’ll go ahead and re-evaluate my win-loss prediction.

    More Licht Losers.

    Drafting broken dudes.

  10. Billlbuc Says:

Better than in the wheels. I’ll take a wrist or arm over a knee or calf or worse an achilles.

  11. Nick jannette Says:

I broke my wrist playing peewee football next year good as new never had an issue again

  12. firethecannons Says:

deep breath Joe, lotsa time till season and he is not receiver so theres that

  13. Stpetematt Says:

Irrelevant injury that won’t affect his preparation or training camp.

  14. Bojim Says:

Should be fine in a few weeks. Make him run or something.

  15. buc4evr Says:

It’s a Bucs life. That’s why i try not to get excited about the draft. Jason always gets a bargain, albeit an injured one. Think Scott should be fine by mid season…. lol.

  16. Football 1 Says:

Scott should be fine!!. However, so many injuries last year, no one wants to hear about an injured player before he even practices. I mean I don’t see this as an issue in May, however, if he starts missing practices with the wrist, pulls hamstrings, injures his knee, those things in training camp then their is concern.
However, everything we have heard is the guys is tough and a real football player. Let’s keep that going until we see otherwise

LynchMob50, this is exactly why nobody can take your act seriously anymore. The season hasn’t even started and you’re already pounding your chest over ‘2-15’ like an emotional middle school troll desperate for attention. it’s the same cartoon routine: predict disaster, scream about Bowles, pray for failure, You don’t sound informed — you sound addicted to negativity.”

  18. SenileSenior Says:

It is kind of weird to have two with injuries of three(?) who signed(?). Anyway I am not going to worry much. The glass is at least half full.

    Go Bucs!!

  19. Steve V. Says: Says:

Settle down biggie, the only bones Lynch mob 328,and azz munch broke is a chicken wing they bit down to hard on!

  20. Bamboo138 Says:

  21. 3.28.Evans Says:

    Bucs training and medical. Aces.

  22. 3.28.Evans Says:

    😆🤣😂

Just can’t make this stuff up. Cue the injury excuses now for the inevitable suck later.

  23. Mveal2006 Says:

Injuries are part of the game.

Hold them out now but in the end if you can’t play hurt you can’t play at all

  24. SuburbianGymRat Says:

    go BUCS

  25. garro Says:

Ditto Joe. “Others” are passing this off like it was a mere paper cut. Plates go on serious injuries. Lots of un-asked questions here. Was this a known issue before draft day?

    Go Bucs!

  26. HC Grover Says:

Another routine par for Bowels and Co.

  27. J Says:

Scotts’ conference yesterday was a fun listen. Super excited about what he and Bain are going to do to the culture. The team is going to look so different next year.

Bauer Sharp is quite intriguing to me. Ive got a sneaky suspicion he turns out to be a baller.

  28. ChiBuc Says:

Sure, hands are nice, but these guys play on defense

  29. 3.28.Evans Says:

Can Zac run an offense free from genius interference that can average 36ppg?

If so, maybe he can outscore Bowles’ incompetent “defensive” performance for 8 wins. Thats the max.

Wow is this going to suck.
