Kenyon Sadiq Brings Versatility
April 14th, 2026In February at the NFL Scouting Combine, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said you draft best player available in the first round and then start attacking needs in later rounds.
A year ago at the NFL owners meeting, Bowles swore he would have no issue whatsoever drafting an offensive skill position player in the first round because you have to score points to win games.
Bowles said this even though the Bucs, then as now, had a screaming need for an inside linebacker. Lo and behold what did Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht do? He drafted receiver Emeka Egbuka.
So Joe is beginning to heed Bowles’ words. That’s why Joe believes Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq should not be written off for the Bucs with their No. 15 overall pick. The Bucs are one player a field-stretching tight end away from potentially having a dangerously powerful offense.
The Bucs are likely four players away from having a decent defense.
So why not light up the scoreboard? They might have to.
Over at BSPN, former NFL safety and current Chicagoland high school coach Matt Bowen listed potential draft picks who possess 100 separate traits. His most versatile pass catcher is Sadiq.
Most versatile pass catcher: Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon
At 6-3 and 241 pounds, Sadiq has rare skills at tight end, including 4.39 speed and explosive leaping ability. And he would bring real versatility to a pro scheme. Sadiq can run the seam routes and wheels, create after the catch and align as a flexed wide receiver. He’s a matchup player in the game plan.
Creative offensive coordinators love dudes who can hurt defenses in many ways. These same players give defensive coordinators migraines.
Imagine having Egbuka, who can play three different receiver positions and Sadiq who can play two, maybe three different positions? That would drive a defense nuts.
No, Joe is not stupid enough to suggest a field-stretching tight end is a crying need for the Bucs, but again, Bowles said they don’t worry about need Round 1.
Does anyone really believe the Bucs defense can be flipped to a top-five defense this fall? The Bucs, with a tight end like Sadiq, might just be a top-five offense.
.@oregonfootball @KenyonSadiq who ever drafts Sadiq should really study the Ducks Offense and how they used him as a #1 WR in many shifts and formations. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/dp3rEBnZoX

No kidding. Ill say it again. He plays X,Y, Z. He took snaps at wildcat. He ran tight end sweeps at Oregon. Hes a vertical and red zone threat. Ran the fastest 40 for a TE. Hes a mismatch nightmare. We have a bunch of JAGS behind Cade. Good 12 personnel is a killer in todays NFL. Sadiq for where we pick is a true first rounder. Other names linked to us, not so much.
Imagine Sadiq, EE, Jmac, Tez, Cade and Chris next.year. You draft for the future. EE, Jmac Tez, Sadiq and Cade for the next three years. If Cade goes down we have zero at TE.
Sadiq could be a Raven, Panther or Niner.

Kenyon Sadiq Brings Versatility
He might, but ….!!!!!!
Jeremiyah Love would bring a Championship!!!!!
April 14th, 2026 at 9:21 am
Versatility in the passing game only. The guy can’t block in the NFL. If the Bucs draft him and run 12 personnel, are the Bucs going to run behind him? Rarely, and not well. Defenses will know this and adjust.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:24 am
Sadiq would be a fun guy to root for. Hoping either the Bucs take him or he doesn’t end up in our division…
April 14th, 2026 at 9:25 am
If he is still there at 15. I am sprinting to the podium with his name. He is exactly what our offense needs and a great replacement for Mike Evans who deserted us.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:25 am
He could possibly get to some second level blocks quick with tha speed and he has power. What LB or safety can cover that guy? He would be a mismatch nightmare but did have some drops.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:27 am
Don’t want Love or Sadiq in our division but it’s entirely possible we get both.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:32 am
Jimbob, watch him last year put PSU Carter on his ass.
Sadiq is a willing blocker. Its not like 88 is a great blocker. You draft Sadiq for big plays in the passing game, not to block..
April 14th, 2026 at 9:33 am
Joe , I agree with you it appears highly likely the Bucs will be an average defense at best this year with all the holes that need to be filled and not much being done in FA. However, yes the offense could be made into a top 5 offense. I guess the question is, is the TE you are talking about the best player available at number 15 . I mean if he can truly help the offense then yes. In that they have done little to improve the defense thus far, I believe that may be their plan. The defense needs to add about 5 to 6 inpact players now and they won’t be able to do that in the draft.

BINGO!!!!!!!
he wont help protect baker nor will he open up holes in the run game..
GO BUCS!!!!
April 14th, 2026 at 9:36 am
Yep, you have to prove everybody else is wrong. Put that on your hoodie Todd. We can only hope logic overcomes their egos on draft day.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:40 am
All they need on offense is better play calling and blocking. Period
If they draft a darn TE in the first round, I will be pissed. I don’t care how good he may be.
They have the skill players on offense that are game changers,
They need ILB, edge, CB.
The Super Bowl and playoffs prove year after year, no matter how improved offensive play has become, and how the rule changes favor them…
Defense wins championships
April 14th, 2026 at 9:40 am
the bucs are focused on getting aggressive physical players this year….
Sadiq doesnt fit the aggressive physical mold…super talented but not what we’re trying to accomplish
GO BUCS!!!!!
April 14th, 2026 at 9:43 am
Agree completely. Imagine our 12 personnel with this guy. CG, EE, Cade, Bucky and Sadiq. We could line up with Sadiq in front of Bucky and run power/zone if they match Sadiq up with a DB and then we could split him wide in a 3 WR set look if they bring in a linebacker to try and help with the run. It would be a huge upgrade for our offense.
The key is Sadiq isn’t a Y TE like Cade. He’s not going to be someone that we line up over a 280lb DE. He will be the move piece to Cade’s Y. It’s a different role even though they’re both TEs.
April 14th, 2026 at 9:44 am
JOE SAYS: Besides, how did Seattle win the Super Bowl? They brought waves of stud defensive linemen into the game like line changes in hockey.
but you consistently bring up drafting an nonblocking TE lol
do you want baker to have new fancy toys or do you want the bucs to win another SB?….tough decision for you joe!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!!
April 14th, 2026 at 9:54 am
Our defense is soft.
Defense wins championships.
Look at the Seahawks.
We need a DT, an ILB, a CB, an EDGE, a NT.
I would be happy with 5 defenders.
Even if we trade away picks to move up.
Just get 5 solid young defenders for our soft defense.
April 14th, 2026 at 10:06 am
Joe says:
“The Bucs are likely four players away from having a decent defense”
That’s always been my view, no need to ‘blow the team up’ as the Debbie downers keep chanting
April 14th, 2026 at 10:10 am
Does he rush the QB?
April 14th, 2026 at 10:15 am
why not just draft a wr why are we only talking about a te with short arms and a small catch radius
April 14th, 2026 at 10:28 am
“Does anyone really believe the Bucs defense can be flipped to a top 5 defense this fall?” Probably not, with that level of “stinkin thinker”.
April 14th, 2026 at 10:31 am
And I believe the offense can easily be a top 5 offense. And we sure don’t need Sadiq to do that.
April 14th, 2026 at 10:32 am
“stinkin thinken”
April 14th, 2026 at 10:34 am
Short of a video of Love doing bong hits with a bong mask popping up on Twitter three hours before the draft, no way Love falls to No. 15.
April 14th, 2026 at 10:39 am
Not even JAGS, though of the three backups, Devin Culp can burn a defense vertically.
April 14th, 2026 at 10:40 am
“Stinkin” or reality?
April 14th, 2026 at 10:42 am
LOL Someone’s never watched a lick of film or has ever watched games with Kenyon Sadiq.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:02 am
Since you put it that way, it is a no-brainer decision for Joe. The Bucs have the best chance to get back to the Super Bowl (this year) by Mayfield having a fancy new toy to go along with his other toys.
This defense needs a *bunch* of really good players to become worthy of carrying a team to the Super Bowl. That generally does not happen in one offseason.
Right now, as in April 14, 2026, Joe is not convinced the defense is better than it was in January, sorry.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:13 am
Sadiq is unique. If he falls to 15, have to take him. Hope that somehow Rodriguez is available in 2nd round.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:13 am
This debate will go on until next Thursday night.
But if you watched ANY Oregongames last year thwn you know that
-he can block – well.
-He has a large catch radius
-he catches the ball well, few drops
He would be a terrific pick in the first round, but I don’t think he will be there at 15.
So anyone that thinks we can draft the next Reggie White when we pick at 15 can rest easy.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:22 am
Will it be like it was in the 2017 draft
When the Bucs wanted to add OJ Howard to Jameis arsenal of weapons
They was so heartfelt on making Jameis a star QB
Adding DeSean Jackson, drafting OJ and Chris Godwin
They even passed on proven pass rushers like TJ Watt
Then when the offense was lighting up the league, the defense stunk
Giving up close to 30 points a game
Well, Mike Smith was obviously the fall guy, as the DC
But they fired Koetter also
If only they had focus more on the defense, instead of (Weapons for Winston)
April 14th, 2026 at 11:30 am
Coich would find a way to get him bored and have tired legs by game 7.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:32 am
Wouldn’t be upset with Sadiq. If we want a TE, let’s get the best TE. If we want DL, let’s pick the best DL. At #15, we will have pick of the litter at two of these four position groups. Depending on which way the board falls: DL, OG, TE, and/or CB. Sadly not Edge. As long as we take the best prospect from whichever of these position groups are available to us – then that’s a win IMHO.
Yes yes trade down would be nice. Most teams want to trade down it seems. So there is that ever present word ‘hope’.
April 14th, 2026 at 11:49 am
Joe is going thru some serious writers block over the last 2 months. “ Let’s see, should I write about Evans leaving or Sadiq? Hmmm, I know I have written over 1000 articles already, but….”
When we don’t run 12 personnel, who sits out? The guy we just gave $30 million to or our 1st round #15 draft pick? Good God we won’t run 12 personnel every play .
April 14th, 2026 at 12:07 pm
Right now, as in April 14, 2026, Joe is not convinced the defense is better than it was in January, sorry.
disagree with you joe…
i can say the same regarding the offense….offense may be in an even worse position than the defense…
-2 injured IOL returning to protect an often injured QB….
– new OC again
-no mike
BUCS won 2 SBs because of defense…not because Brad & Brady had fancy toys
GO BUCS!!!!
April 14th, 2026 at 12:30 pm
Can he rush the passer?
April 14th, 2026 at 1:00 pm
“When we don’t run 12 personnel, who sits out? The guy we just gave $30 million to or our 1st round #15 draft pick? Good God we won’t run 12 personnel every play.”
Get this level-headed, logical deduction out of here.
Joe is talkin about new toys, when an old toys like Rachaad White finished last year as the only season of his short career with no receiving TDs
RBs & TEs(and by TEs I mean Cade) accounted for 140 of bakers 351 completions, or 39% of the receiving pie.
Let’s not fool ourselves in thinking the ball is getting spread around the yard at will
April 14th, 2026 at 1:02 pm
No , he plays on Offense. TE is tight end. Keep up…
He is getting LOTS of attention from other teams. The Vikings had him in for a Top 30 visit yesterday. The Broncos too would love to snag him.
As for blocking he is described as dedicated, determined, and skilled at blocking both on the primary and secondary levels.
He would be a fantastic pick. IF he is available when it’s our turn.
April 14th, 2026 at 1:16 pm
This is what I want out of the first three rounds, players that can immediately start. To me four through seven rounds equals good reserve players or lucky shots. I would trade up and go get Sunny styles if you feel he’s the second coming of Micah Parsons. If you can’t do that, I would get two impact players in the first two rounds and that would be – Sadiq and then trade up for Rodriquez. I am not that excited about Mesidor or Faulk, unless there is Intel that I do not know about both. Very few edge rushers make an impact in their first year. I would then hope that David Walker can make some noise. Rounds 3 and 4 I would go for cornerbacks and backup players. Sonny styles should be an impact player and can both play linebacker and edge.
April 14th, 2026 at 1:43 pm
Again, how many slot weapons do you want in this team?! Every WR on the roster is best suited for the slot. So your solution is to spend a first rounder on yet another slot weapon?
We need a true X, someone that can attack outside the numbers. We need to diversify our pass catching room.
April 14th, 2026 at 2:11 pm
If they draft him its a year in which they know 30 points a game will be
Needed to win each week. Knowing the defense is complete trash licht
Might be looking at this as a offense first team and hope the D can hold
Teams under 29 or 30 points.
