Bucs Go Back To Miami For CB Keionte Scott

April 25th, 2026

Bucs CB Keionte Scott.

Hey, it worked on Day 1, why not on Day 3?

The Bucs need corner help. And it the Bucs went back to South Florida for  help. The Bucs chose in the fourth round Keionte Scott of the national runners-up Hurricanes.

Per the research from veteran NFL scribe Bob McGinn of GoLongTD.com, based on talks with NFL scouts, Scott is McGinn’s ninth-best corner in the draft.

9. KEIONTE SCOTT, Miami (5-11, 192, 4.36, 2-3): There’s little doubt that Scott moved up after running a sizzling 40 on March 24 at pro day. “That shocked me because you don’t see that going downfield,” one scout said. “So that will help him out. He’s a slot guy. I don’t see him as an outside corner so that will hurt him. Smart, feisty, quick. He’ll trigger in run support and get in there and stick his face in. He’ll go in the second round.” Two-time JUCO All-America pick.

Started 23 of 33 games at Auburn in 2022-’24 before starting 12 of 14 games for the national runner-up in ’25. “He had a really good year at Auburn in ’23,” a second scout said. “They changed schemes in ’24 and his (new) position coach said you can’t play like this with your back to the ball. He wanted him to play on top and use his eyes. He struggled. They had a big falling-out and he went to Miami. They utilized him the right way and he showed back up again this year. He’s really more of a zone nickel than a man-to-man, run-down-the-field, find-the-ball and make-a-play-on-it (nickel), which is a little concerning.”

Finished with 179 tackles (19 for loss), three picks, 14 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. Arms were 31 3/8. “Smaller nickel close to the line of scrimmage,” a third scout said. “Kind of what you saw against Ohio State (in the CFP quarterfinals). That’s where he makes all his plays. He does have very good speed. He can return punts. Maybe fourth round. He’s 25 right now, isn’t he?” Will be 25 in August.

Led the SEC in punt-return average in 2023 at 14.8. Finished with 43 punt returns for 10.3 and one touchdown and four kickoff returns for 16.0. Committed to Houston in 2025 before flipping to Miami. From San Diego.

Joe is going to guess Scott will compete for the nickel corner spot. The Bucs should (will?) move Jacob Parrish from nickel to outside corner. Yeah, he’s that good.

What does Joe read into this? Simple: Zyon McCollum, you are on notice.

    Great pick

    Helix High Schooi’s Baby

  3. Call The Salt Truck Says:

Yeah, this reads to me as freeing up Parrish to move outside if we want, though I’m not sure if McCollum or Morrison needs to be more worried. Either way, corner depth anywhere is good.

  4. TampaBayBucFan Says:

    Bye bye Cam Johnson

  5. JimBobBuc Says:

Love him. Our new nickel allowing Parrish to move outside. Was forecasted as a round 3 pick, so a value pick for the Bucs. He’s also likely to sub for Trotter on passing downs.

  6. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Good pick. Need more swagger. The old team in the 90’s was built on that Florida talent and that arrogance. We need a new Sapp-type to bring it back.

  7. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Also…if the Magic don’t beat the Pistons today, then the series ends in 5 games in Detroit. Sorry.

  8. BucsFan81 Says:

Love this pick. We got some dogs on defense now. If we lose we will go out beating the hell out of the competition.

  9. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Zyon McCollum ?
Oh the same guys who touted Zyon are now trusted to find his replacement…
That is up and down the roster and draft history

  10. FrontFour Says:

Great pick. He’s gonna push McCollum and Morrison to the bench. Special teams are gonna win us games this season.

  11. CalBucsFan Says:

Another great pick. Alabama LB Deontae Lawson would be a great pick next round too!

  12. BA’s Red Pen Says:

McCollum got paid then got bored, like the late great Big Dog would say AMF Zyon.

  13. Lakeland Says:

We’re getting more physical on defense

Physicality is what we’re looking for

  14. David Says:

Rusty – no one cares about the NBA

SB~LV – seriously? Are you that clueless? Under LICHT they have been one of the better drafting teams in the entire NFL. Being someone who just wants to bitch and moan about every pick that doesn’t pan out, means you will never understand this.

This kid was projected round 2-3. He is very fast and explosive and plays with an attitude, just like the LB and DE they got

  15. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Where’s Christian Izien ? I always liked him.

  16. Buc_Dog Says:

Oh my, can it be any clearer the theme of the draft, get hungry, tough, violent dogs!!!!

I am no defender of Bowles, but I am sure he felt the D was very soft, not naming names (Winfield, Morris, McCollum, Dean, Reddick)

Bain, Trotter, Scott – Polar opposite of those guys. It may or may not work, but I am on board 100%.

  17. Sal Volatile Says:

A little more meat on the bones and height is a good thing at the nickel. Can you say…tackle ?

  18. Miller5252 Says:

Sounds like Buc nation for the most part is all on board for Scott. Let’s hope with the pass rush additions the secondary, and this ball hawk, start upping the pick total to numbers we haven’t seen for far too long!!! Gotta finish super strong so the 2nd and 3rd round picks don’t feel as bad. Deep playoff run is the minimum for this year!!! Go Bucs!!!

Literally only 30% of draft picks pan out. So focusing on everyone that doesn’t work out is ridiculous.
Besides, Zyon has been very good. Last year was an off year. Hopefully he bounces back. If not, there’s competition.

  20. Karu Says:

He won’t play on the outside. Definitely is a weapon that will play in the slot and safety

  21. HC Grover Says:

The Curse of Bowzo strikes again.

  22. Teacherman Says:

    Slot, safety and special teams.

He can also learn to play dime linebacker.

    Why?

Because he’s fearless in the box and can cover!

I want more moneybackers for this defense!

Substitute linebackers for moneybackers on passing downs!!!!

  23. 3.28.Evans Says:

    🤣😆🙄

    🤡

  24. Fred McNeil Says:

Rusty, Izien is in Detroit. IIRC it’s a 1 year contract worth $2M with $1M guaranteed.
I think this Scott pick is going to be pretty good.

  25. Fred McNeil Says:

What’s with all the Spanish pick announcers?

  26. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

    Guys,

If you want to invest 30 minutes of your time, go look st Bill Walsh’s drafts for the 49ers from 1979 to 1989. I believe Bill Walsh to be a football genius, an innovator and the gold standard in how to run a franchise.

In his 10 years, Walsh had a couple of elite drafts… 5 or 6 so-so drafts, and a couple of horrendous drafts. My point? The Godfather of modern football was batting .600 at best. Licht and his scouting staff is WAY batter than a lot of you want to give him credit for. There are necessarily ALWAYS going to be swings and misses.

For every Mike Evans, Vita Vea and Tristan Wirfs, there’s a Roberto Aguayo, Noah Spence and Chris Braswell.

  27. Matt Says:

    Love this pick!

  28. Co-Z Coolman Says:

Soooo hes a faster, more talented Christian Izien?

  29. Fred McNeil Says:

We pick next. Izein is a pretty good player, but he was an USFA. Longshot who did well for himself. He makes at least a million this year if he makes the team or not.
