Report: Bucs Sign University Of Kansas QB

April 26th, 2026

Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels reportedly signed with the Bucs.

Kansas football doesn’t often get people excited. The last time it made any dent in the college football world was when Aqib Talib played for the Jayhawks and got them to the Orange Bowl.

However, in recent years, the Jayhawks were competitive, 5-7 in both 2024 and 2025. One reason is they had a halfway decent quarterback, Jalon Daniels.

Unfortunately, Daniels has an issue. The guy has struggled to stay on the field. He was a walking injury report in 2022 and 2023. When he played, Kansas wasn’t awful.

Multiple reports have the Bucs signing Daniels as an undrafted free agent.

Joe normally doesn’t break a sweat over undrafted free agents. Joe actually tries to focus on guys expected to play on Sundays, not guys who if they are lucky, will sit upstairs in air conditioning at The Licht House on Sundays.

Mostly healthy the past two seasons, Daniels threw for damn near 5,000 total yards in 24 games with little talent around him.

This is interesting to Joe in that Daniels could be a really solid No. 3 quarterback and maybe, if he’s coached up, could be a No. 2 quarterback. He’d only need to stay healthy for two or three games if, God forbid, Baker Mayfield went down.

I don’t even know why they have a backup QB. They are not going to use him. They will let Baker play hurt and rag the team down like they’ve done the past two seasons!
