Trying To Read The Tea Leaves

March 27th, 2026
Kenyon Sadiq

Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq.

One fun thing about the NFL draft is the drama and intrigue and the suspense that goes along with it.

Who is drafting whom? And when? Who might be available when the Bucs are on the clock? And would the Bucs trade the pick?

It’s far, far, far more fun and suspenseful than a ping-pong movie, isn’t it, Ira?

So Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has drafted the obvious (Tristan Wirfs and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston) and thrown people curveballs (Mike Evans, Vita Vea and Emeka Egbuka).

Now Joe writing recently about drafting a tight end in the first round, and even on Twitter, gets some folks fully triggered. One dude was positively enraged at Joe and wanted federal authorities to shut this site down over the suggestion the Bucs may draft a tight end at No. 15. Very likely the angriest Twitter Joe ever received.

Look, Joe is all for Keyon Sadiq, the freak tight end from Oregon. But Joe has always leaned toward getting an inside linebacker at No. 15 and maybe Baylor tight end Michael Trigg, a Tampa native, on the second day of the draft.

So what might Licht do?

Well, the key inside linebacker, Sonny Styles, is unlikely to be on the board when the Bucs pick. The next best inside linebacker is either C.J. Allen or Anthony Hill, from Georgia and Texas, respectively. But both might be a little bit of a reach at No. 15. Maybe more than a reach.

Licht doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy to reach for players in the first round.

Joe’s research shows that when Zac Robinson, the Bucs’ new offensive coordinator, was in Atlanta, he used two-tight end sets a lot. In fact, last year, per Sharp Football Analysis, the Dixie Chicks used two or more tight ends on 45.7 percent of offensive plays in 2025, fifth-most in the NFL.

So it seems those who think Sadiq might be the Bucs’ pick, it sort of makes sense. Would Joe like to see Devin Culp used more? Sure, but if you are comparing Sadiq and Culp, come on.

And Payne Durham is strictly an in-line tight end. If he was a downfield threat, we would have seen it by now in Durham’s three Bucs seasons.

So those in the national media who have been schlocking Sadiq to the Bucs might be onto something.

i’m starting to think grab this dude…then load up on backers and edge in the next few rounds…it’ll probably take this and the next draft to add a few decent pieces to the front 7…could even take 3 years

  2. adam from ny Says:

maybe a bit of a dk metcalf to him, with and extra 10 pounds of muscle or bulk on him…maybe draft this freak

  3. Delson Says:

I like TE at 15 MLB in the 2nd oline 3rd more lbs and Dline. Maybe another oline late but our depth needs 2 b solid there. Zyon is gonna piss me off this year should trade him 2 draft another cb.

  4. MadMax Says:

I wouldnt hate it…he’s fast and a big target…I’d rather have that beastly guard though…Bredeson can be the swing backup. Hit Trigg with the 3rd or 4th.

  5. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs are pretty much relegated now to using the draft to really fix our defense. We’ve still got ‘holes’ (starters or key rotational players) at ILB, DT & CB as a minimum. If the drafts top round picks aren’t used to ‘fix’ those holes, this year’s defense will very likely struggle just like the last 2 years defenses did. And much worse, we’ll be in a horrible position going into 2027 since we have so many ‘ancient warriors’ who’ll be free agents.

  6. adam from ny Says:

yes the defense is a real problem…..now and future…..but with bowles running the show, just throw up your hands, and draft sadiq the freak šŸ™‚

  7. Permanently Moderated Says:

    Fix the defense first.

  8. JA Says:

Sadiq is a bit short for a TE, ya think? High drop ratio too, ya think?
Last year we needed defense, so Licht drafts Egbuka, who was great to begin the year before falling off the face of the earth. Still unhappy watching him yuk it up after a loss.
I would trade up and get either the Texas Tech (Bailey) or Ohio State (Reese) as an Edge, or even Styles.
Wanna get better? Take a chance and move up!
But my guess will have Captain Conservative sit back and draft another ā€œstealā€ from Slippery Rock.

  9. Kenton Smith Says:

If we don’t get Styles, or Hill Jr. or Allen, then we darn sure better get Jacob Rodriguez who will prove out to be the best player in this draft class. Even talking about a tight end first, it’s like someone is waking up early and just trying to pi$$ me off.

  10. LessisMore Says:

Didn’t I hear Todd or Jason say something like …… If the offense can just score a lot of points we’ll be fine? So who needs defense? (Heavy sarcasm folks).

Jason always wants to buck the trend and draft someone no one expects.
If they don’t extend Baker – my Magic 8 Ball says he’ll draft a QB

  11. Fanofdabucs Says:

    Short TE with little production.

-“But man what an athletic freak the guy is with such big muscles”

    Hard pass

Id rather see the best OT available who can kick inside next to Wirfs and also provide depth at OT should they need it.

Or the best DT available. Someone who can push Kancey into stating healthy and eventually take over for Vita.

  12. Bokeh Says:

Wouldn’t mind Dante Moore in the stable

  13. BuccinBaker6, Says:

Damn imagine if Bucs add This Guy he’s another Weapon who can help Replace Mike I mean he would Kill NFL LBs dude is Fast an Can Jump what’s not to Like I could definitely see the Bucs going with Him at 15 dude looks elite

  14. Will Says:

I like this pick. But he might not be there by the time Bucs choose.

  15. Demete Says:

    O.J. Howard!

  16. JustOneGame Says:

How about noooo on Sadiq. Have we already forgotten the great OJ Howard and how he was a can’t miss prospect and a ā€œgenerational TEā€. Not to mention the new new OC just arrived after having his own ā€œGenerational TEā€ and other than playing the Bucs he’s was average at best.

  17. Darin Says:

Licht wont draft a kicker in the 2nd or a TE in the first again. At least he learns from his mistakes.

  18. Lt. Dan Says:

hahahaha!! Joe throwing shade at Ira and Marty Supreme! well done!

  19. JustOneGame Says:

Rather them take a chance on a guy like John Michael Gyllenborg later in the draft.

  20. Hodad Says:

Bucs shouldn’t draft him at 15, but there might be teams willing to trade up to get him. I think we have to many defensive needs for a luxury pick. Licht mentioned after the top 10 the talent level evens out. This is a good draft to pick up additional picks. Get an ILB at the bottom of the first add picks would be my move. Unless Sony Styles falls to 15, trade down.

  21. Gipper Says:

With Kenton on Rodriguez. This guy is always around the ball and ran a surprisingly high 40 in combine. Perfect defensive QB. Was hopefu he would still be available in Round 2 but now unsure. Really like Sadiq not as a TE but as ME replacement. Would have him drop some weight to make him faster. Ran a very impressive 40 much faster now than ME.

  22. StormyInFl Says:

    “OJ Howard”!!!!!

You guys are idiots. He’s not the next OJ Howard anymore than your edge rush man crushes are the next JTS.

What an absolutely idiotic and lazy comparison.

  23. StormyInFl Says:

BTW, I do agree with trading out, but you have to have someone wanting to trade up, too. Making the world believe you’ll happily take Sadiq gives Licht leverage if some team’s GM has a crush on him.

  24. Countrybrew Says:

I’m in the trade back and gain more picks group but I wouldn’t be mad if we took Sadiq or the big guard. Jason and the Bucs have always said that they will stay true to their board and I don’t believe that is going to change nor should it. We draft for the future not just for tomorrow. Me personally I would love to trade with the Jets for their 2 second round picks this year and an additional pick next year and I believe it’s possible because then they would have back to back picks and be able to get Ty Simpson and one of the top receivers. We can fill our team needs a lot better with 3 second round picks (ED, LB, and I still want another DL or the top guard available).

  25. DS Says:

I just don’t see it on film

  26. BigBoiBuc Says:

Can’t block. Too short. Not much production in college in a pass offense. He didn’t destroy college players, why assume he will pro players. Freak athlete. Not at 15. And @ Joe compared to Culp, you are so hung up on a 4.39 vs a 4.48 ? You can’t tell the difference. And, wasn’t that just combine stuff in ā€œ underwear footballā€ as you call it.

  27. Vanessa Anne Says:

His tape looks pretty darn good.

    But…

We’ve got way too many holes on defense. That needs to be our priority.

If it wasn’t for that, I’d say take him.

  28. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

“…Jason Licht has … thrown people curveballs Vita Vea and Emeka Egbuka.”

Those were definitely curveballs, pass on Josh Allen at #7 for VV… but we had Jameis at the time…

C.J. Allen and Anthony Hill will be available in the 2nd rd. So if that if that is the Bucs strategy, and they get their ILB in the 2nd, part of me could see JL taking Michael Trigg at #15. WOW what an offense that would make and Robinson very very much run a 12 set. Makes sense.

But that means you don’t draft an EDGE until round 3?? Yeah, why waste an early pick if Todd is going to have him drop into coverage half the time.

And personally, I think we very much need a DT, Im with DR on this one. VV is in a contract year and at his age I do not think JL will resign him. BUT then JL waited until LVD actually left to start to replace him so, sorry DR, I don’t see JL making DT a priority.

At least the offense would be exciting. Yeah, I think you are right Joe, Michael Trigg at #15 makes all the sense in the world.

  29. Bucnjim Says:

No to trading up! No to a tight end! I’d actually trade down for more picks if the option came up. This team isn’t one player away. The Bucs need to be drafting defense for two years straight.

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

With Mike leaving, it would be a good move to get a good red-zone target…..

  31. adam from ny Says:

you can pick an offensive player in the 1st if you go defense rounds 2 thru 5………….come on

bowles isn’t fixin’ sh!t…lavonte left…and even though he lost a step, he held that D together…now with him gone, he’s suggesting tykee be the man…isn’t that quite the inditement on winfield…?

vita is getting old as he enters this year…factor his weight issues and the heat too…

the D is a sinking ship in recent years since the league has sort of passed by bowles…or really got his number now…he’s fooling no one any more…

    the D is in shambles…

lavonte is a huge loss from a stability standpoint…

if there’s an offensive piece the organization thinks can bump us up to an elite offense – (in a league now defined by offense) – you grab the guy and hope he pans out…then you go defense, defense, defense…and then some more defense…

sheesh….this has been one hell of an offseason already

  32. Stpetematt Says:

In round 1, you take best player available. For all we know, Otton breaks his leg next year. If Sadiq is that best player, take him. I’d like Mesidor, but don’t know for sure how he turns out TBH. He’s a little ways down the Edge list, and that’s always worrisome.

  33. Usedtocould Says:

If you can get a ten year pro bowler, you get him. Not like munch. A lifetime toilet bowler. Boom, roasted.

  34. Oregon Buc Says:

Hard no on CJ Allen. He’s just another dude, nothing special. Seen so many ppl here say that we need to get Jacob Rodriguez and I agree 100% because he’s a game changer that plays his best in crunch time. I don’t think Rodriguez is getting out of the 1st round tbh and the mock draft crowd seems dead set on him being a 2nd rounder. I think the Bucs sleeper pick is Caleb Banks from Florida. They don’t make big athletic dudes like him too often and we need a good DT

  35. Obvious Says:

I would like to see us invest premium draft capital into the front 7 and specifically the edge. But if the best BPA is the te and/or guard and both are potential superstars that could be playing in pro bowls within a few years – by all means. Don’t reach cause we need it.

But I also don’t want to see any trades of ā€˜27 first round picks to get back up in the 1st for any player.

  36. adam from ny Says:

the thing i like about sadiq is once he catches the ball, he sort of moves like a running back more than a receiver…he moves a little bit like a bowling ball too…i like that

    big and compact

  37. Ballwasher61 Says:

Ok, so Howard didn’t work out, doesn’t mean this guy won’t. If the Bucs can’t select the defender they want at 15 or trade back I have no problem with this pick, but I believe Messidor will be there and should take him. Depends on where they rank him. If TE is BPA then draft him. Then you could have a really REALLY stacked offense that would offset Evans loss, maybe even better because of Mikes age.

  38. No Mercy Says:

Would love him but still have oj Howard ptsd. But he does seem more dialed in and serious about being great than Howard ever did. All depends on him as a person because the player is great

  39. Defense Rules Says:

Todd Bowles has convinced me over his 7 yrs as our DC that he NEEDS top quality TALENT to make his defensive scheme work. Put a week link in his defense & that weak link draws the opponent’s full attention; Todd can’t seem to ‘hide them’.

Our interior DLine has ‘looked good in the shower’ (ie, done reasonably well in Run Defense) for years only because none of them EXCEPT Vea can pass rush. When you’re rushing 4 and your adversary is using 6-7 to block (protect their QB) it’s little wonder our Edges can’t get there. Some (like YaYa) get close (QB hits), but never quite seal the deal (sacks).

Right now we’ve got Vea (347 lbs) & Robinson (320 lbs) as our Big Dogs, but they’ll only be on the field TOGETHER maybe 25% of the def snaps at best. So we end up pairing 1 of them with a smaller guy (Kancey 280 lbs or Roberts 295 lbs) on most plays. And then everyone cries because ‘Oh boo hoo, we have no pass rush’.

Winn Dixie asked the pertinent question that leads to fixing the problem … ‘WHERE’S THE BEEF?’. Bucs NEED somebody like Kayden McDonald (6’2″ & 326 lbs) or Caleb Banks (6’6″ & 327 lbs) or Lee Hunter (6’4″ & 325 lbs) to pair with Vea & Robinson to create a Run Defense ‘wall’ AND provide some pass rush in the interior to move the QB. IF they can do that, our existing OLBs (especially Diaby & Muhammad) will be able to take advantage.

  40. CottlevilleBuc Says:

    DL/DT!

  41. football 1 Says:

Well like I said in a prior post. The Bucs can’t seem to draft and edge guy and the defense if you count the corner positions, which you are crazy if you don’t, the Bucs have way to many holes to fix currently. So , since Bowles and Licht have their heard stuck in the sand in reguard to the defense, draft the TE and work on scoring 40 points a game. I am beginning to think that Licht and Bowles are actually thinking that , because nobody in their right mind would start our two current corners and fail to really address positions of need at the EDGE AND LINEBACKER position.
So all I can think of is yeah stack the offense.

  42. 813bucboi Says:

Trade down…select OG with the 1st pick

    GO BUCS!!!!

  43. Bucs Guy Says:

No picks for O until day 3. Non-negotiable.

  44. Bojim Says:

Defense for sure with first pick and maybe 2nd pick also. Then do what you need to do.

  45. Badbucs Says:

TE does not add enough value to the team when we are in desperate need for starters at several other positions. Sadiq is a luxury pick for a stacked team or team in total rebuild. There may be a top CB or OL when we pick at 15 that is not a reach. Trading down is still the best option if we can find a partner. JL does not have the cushion to screw up this year. The first couple of picks are crucial. Why he didn’t pick up any of the reasonably priced young FA is a total mystery. Still a couple out there. When does Baker get his extension?

  46. Lakeland Says:

You also have Georgia Bulldogs TE Oscar Delp

I wouldn’t sleep on him, should be a late day 2 pick
Or early day 3 pick, it’s hard to tell, about this draft
But he has size 6’5 245, good speed 4.48 forty
    And is a good blocker

  47. gotbbucs Says:

What a horrible idea. Using a 1st round pick on a TE is absolutely terrible value.
They’d be better off going with the best defensive player on the board with their first three picks regardless of the position. DT, DE, LB, CB, S…and double up on positions if the value is right. Where does this team not need talent on defense?
The middle of the field is weak and this team is full of tiny defensive backs and slow linebackers. A horrible recipe.

  48. HeartyDickerson Says:

Watch out for Malachi Lawrence. I think he’ll be sliding up draft boards soon, and could be in play at 15.

  49. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Defense Rules Says:
“Bucs are pretty much relegated now to using the draft to really fix our defense. We’ve still got ā€˜holes’ (starters or key rotational players) at ILB, DT & CB as a minimum. If the drafts top round picks aren’t used to ā€˜fix’ those holes, this year’s defense will very likely struggle just like the last 2 years defenses did.”

    THIS!!!!

We cannot expect Bowles defense to ever work if it is consistently ignored in the first round.

These people mentioning about edge rushers dropping in coverage are blowing that out of proportion. He’s had high sack numbers in his defense before…he just hasn’t been given the talent to do so since becoming head coach.

Even if he’s gone next year (which I’m not entirely convinced will be the case), we don’t want to leave the next coach without defensive talent.

If fans truly want the Bucs to be great, they have to look beyond this year.

  50. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

My hope is that all of the best TEs, WRs, QBs, RBs, OTs, and OGs are taken before we pick…leaving only top defensive players.

  51. Lakeland Says:

I have nothing against drafting an offensive player in RD 1

But I think we have a bigger need at OG and WR than TE
We need to find ME and Chris Godwin replacement
One excellent WR will solve that problem, and there are a few in this draft

We probably need a solid OG, and let Brederson be the swing C/G

  52. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Think about what Kelsy and Kittle do for their offenses. That’s Sadiq’s potential. The Ducks were loaded with offensive players so they did not use him as much as they could have. He’s the real deal at TE. Question is the best TE as good for the Bucs as the 2nd or 3rd best player at their defensive position.

  53. MadMax Says:

Exactly Lakeland, and we all saw what a healthy Baker can do when he’s protected. We dont really know if Bredeson and Mauch will even be 100%, plus they havent been playing. Thats a HUGE deal. If we dont get Ioane, then at least use a 2nd pick on next best G.

QB is the most important position right? Got to keep him upright and healthy right?
Get Ioane and then D for every other pick unless Sonny falls to us.

  54. MadMax Says:

Btw, Trigg gives Bake a larger catch radius…so does jack endries

  55. Saskbucs Says:

I still don’t want a TE but I have come around to the G Ioane.

With Ioane and Chukwama, all of a sudden we have OL depth and it would allow Mauch to leave in FA without paying him 15 million a year.

  56. BigBoiBuc Says:

@Joe no idea what we have in Payne as a short yardage reciever and red zone target or Culp as a seam stretcher and matchup target because Grizzard and Canales didn’t use them. Coen did and they both had good showings in their few opportunities. Sadiq is an athlete no doubt but not as the 15 pick. No way.

  57. Scott Says:

I don’t know about this one. The speed and athleticism are there. Just not sure if he is as elected as some other round 1 TE coming out. Don’t want OJ 2.0

  58. Scott Says:

Elite* as other round 1 TEs coming out. I think he’s more of a receiver than blocker I think.

  59. Tampa2ATL Says:

Ioane or Fano will be there for us. Sadiq if not. Don’t overthink clear BPA.

  60. SlyPirate Says:

    Duck Here

    1. Sadiq is Awesome. Freakish athlete with solid football skills. A serious weapon. I wish they showed some of his blocks. He destroys guys downfield.

    2. KC or LAR Drafts Him. Sadiq with a talented OC would be scary.

    3. Oregon TE 2027 – Jamari Johnson. Oh man! Unreal hands. Never seen better. He’s just as good as Sadiq but without he fanfare.

As a Duck, I really don’t want this Bucs team to draft Sadiq. It would be a waste. Draft defense. Draft the trenches. Set it up for the next HC.

  61. firethecannons Says:

if Sadiq Khan is drafted by the Bucs then we should just give him the same number as OJ Howard. Don’t waste a high draft pik on this. Get an edge player that does not need any teaching or trade down.

  62. firethecannons Says:

    lol kenyan sadiq

  63. Simeon4HOF Says:

JL is going to have have to move around somewhere in Rd 1 or Rd 2
Best route is focusing on Defense both Rounds.
Sadiq is a luxury pick we cant afford rn

  64. LynchMob50 Says:

While I like the idea of drafting this guy to inflate the offense, we need defenders in a bad way.

If Todd has proven anything it’s that even having an offense capable of scoring 30 points a game isn’t enough to overcome his smelly Swiss cheese pass defense.

I say draft LB in round one and two. After that go CB and DE. If you need a TE go out in round 5 and grab a guy.

In fact there a some safety’s I’d take a look at as well.

All four levels of the defense need reinforcements now.

If not we are permanently stuck in Groundhog’s Day mentality.

  65. Simeon4HOF Says:

Good option to have tho at one place on Offense we have a need for improvement tho.
Just seems best to take best Edge available at 15, and trade up for Hill Jr. In Rd 2

  66. Dan Says:

If Sadiq is available, I like it. Agree with the Duck fans on this. A threat and blocker? What’s not to like to make Bake and the offense cook again. Especially if the D is still a work in progress….. Go Bucs!

  67. Rod Munch Says:

I would not draft Sadiq that high. Watching his tape, he’s just a big WR, nothing else, gives you nothing in the blocking game, and wasn’t productive in college. He’s got great traits, will likely be a good NFL receiving TE, but I’d rather take someone else and address TE later as there’s a lot of good receiving TE’s in the draft if that’s what you want. But Otton is already a very good receiving TE, what you need is a legit #2 TE that can block and watch – and Durham is NOT a good blocker, and is way too slow to be a receiving threat.

Anyways, the TE who I think would fit the Bucs needs the best is Sam Roush. Is big, a very good blocker already, has the size/speed needed to be a good receiver – has all the traits of a future #1 TE. If there is a Gronk in this class, Roush is the only guy I’ve seen so far that would have the skills needed to become that type of player – not at all saying he will become that, just that he’s the only guy with the tools needed.

  68. JimBobBuc Says:

Licht has had a few (3 or 4?) TE’s in for Top 30 visits and that seems like a smoke screen. Sadiq is not a blocker, not in college, nor the NFL yet. On the other hand, Otton has blocked in the NFL – an average blocker only – but certainly better than Sadiq. The biggest probelm with Otton is that he’s not getting targets in the past. The big question will be how much Zac Robinson will target tight ends and how does he see Otton vs Sadiq in the run game and passing game. For me, I’m OK keeping Otton as TE1.

  69. BigZ Says:

Otton is mid at best. Averages 3 catches 30 yarss a game and a whopping 11 career TDs. Dangerous offenses have a good TE. They are a nightmare match up and QBs best friend, other than a running game.

The Rams run 12 and 13 personnel and keep Ds off balance.

I like Sadiq. .He is an above average blocker, willing to block.
He PLAYED every receiver position. 6.3 245, ran a 4.3 and benches 435. He would buy far be our strongerst, fastest and most versatile receiver. Oh and he has fire, dude loves to compete.

12 personnel gives you the RPO which makes D guess and gives you so many audible options.

Please warch football before you make your comments. Sadiq has pro bowl talent. Otton does not. At 15 I doubt there will be much pro bowl talent. Draft thins out there.

I do like Delp and Klare too. But Sadiq is a player.

  70. BigBoiBuc Says:

@BigZ ā¬†ļø, you’re obviously a combine junkie. All those metrics are pretty cool but you have him way overrated based on them. 245 doesn’t block down very well on DTackles. He is an average blocker at best. No one comparing him to Otton as they are 2 totally different players. You don’t pay Otton $30 million to be a blocker that plays 30% of the snaps as TE2. We have had 3 offensive coordinators in the last 3 years that didn’t understand how to use TEs. We had ME13 demanding the ball and Baker obliging as much as possible. Sadiq will never make a pro bowl in this league.

  71. BigZ Says:

No bigboi. I watch college football. Again 12 and 13 personnel are brutal on Ds. Pay attention. Just to name a few LA and SF. Hes a better blocker than you think. I dont care if he blocks if plays like Gates, Winslow, Kasper, Kelce, Gromk, etc. Again he can play ALL 3 receiver positions. Thats special. Then add his abilities. Who will cover him. LB, too slow, S not big or strong enough. Hes a matchup problem. Oregon didnt have much else at receiver.

He is 100 percent first round talent. He could go early to Baltimore.

You will wish they drafted him over Allen, Faulk or Howell.

If you read my post you saw I iked other TEs. Dont assume Bigboi.

Dont worry, we”ll draft another short, part time, short armed edge and then you will be happy. Oh, and slow ass, soft 88 and his 3 catches 30 yards a game and 2 TDs a year will be our TE threat. Yep, JL gave out another crap contract. But if 88 goes down will you be happy with the scrubs???

Always draft BPA. At 15 that could be Sadiq.

    Watch college football!

  72. Rod Munch Says:

    BigZ Says:
I like Sadiq. .He is an above average blocker, willing to block.

    ————–

I have not seen a single legit scout say that – also I haven’t seen anything on tape that would make me think he’ll be a good blocker.

I could be wrong, maybe, I don’t watch college ball, only come in for the draft – but I don’t see him being anything other than a below average NFL blocker, as he’s not that big, and I haven’t seen much that would make me think what I’ve read about him is wrong.

Still, as I said, I think he’ll be a good NFL receiving TE and should pretty quickly put up some stats as he’s obviously got great hands, and great measurables. But as a all-around TE, I just don’t see it.

However, if the Bucs take him, I’m not going to throw a fit and I’ll certainly be intrigued. But I’d much rather take an edge player, even perhaps a LB or corner first, and grab another TE later as this seems like a pretty deep TE class.

  73. Kenton Smith Says:

Yeah, Rod is right. Except you could go further Rod. Oregon played Texas Tech in the college football playoffs last season. Rodriguez against Sadiq you might say. Sadiq caught 4 passes for 22 yards. Oregon’s running game averaged 1.3 yards per carry for the game. Sadiq wasn’t laying many pancakes, I guess. Tech offense fell apart and Oregon took advantage of something like a +3 turnover advantage but I can firmly remember that Sadiq is no world beater. Otten is, in my view, a way better tight end who does his job the right way.

This draft has to be all about needs, not wants. Injuries last year made success much more challenging to secure. Holes filled, depth added.

  75. BigBoiBuc Says:

Big Z. I do watch college football. A lot. Why cant a safety cover him? Not big enough or strong enough? They don’t wrestle on routes they run with each other and play the ball. AndNFL safeties do that for a living ya know? That was a ridiculous comment. He didn’t dominate in college against safeties and LBs so not sure why you think he will in the nfl. Because his combine metrics? lol. For the record Culp ran a 4.48 vs Saqiqs 4.39. You can’t tel the difference in that. And Culp is bigger too. How’s that worked out? He’s a good player. No question. But not value at 15 for this team.

  76. Delson Says:

Didn’t otton sign with the commanders? But 4 baker 2 have a security blanket on 3rd down would make him a lot better. I don’t have much faith in Godwin had respect 4 him but he hasn’t been creating separation like he used 2. U have sadiq who can stretch the field vertically n do some block releases either flats or drags with the ability 2 pick up RAC then this offense gets a lot better. Opportunities open up for Godwin and E². If Godwin leaves in a couple years or next year sadiq and E² r foundations for the offensive receivers. Question is how big of a threat is he as a blocker? Against des lbs n Dbs lol people are asking but can he block a dt? Lol I guess they dont kno where the te plays.

  77. BigBoiBuc Says:

@Delsonā¬†ļø. TEs often block down on DTs. lol. It’s obvious you don’t know football . The fact you thought Otton went to the Commanders kinda told us that.

  78. Delson Says:

Watch the usc game he does that. If u watch highlights then that shows how much u kno about football. He runs a variety of different types of blocks. He lines up everywhere on the field. Fb slot out wide this guy is as almost as versatile as ur mom. Otton was supposed to sign with the commanders last I heard about a month ago. But otton is very boring catch n drop to the ground.

  79. Kenton Smith Says:

Delson doesn’t know that tight ends block Defensive tackles. I’d say it’s a stretch to assume he knows much anything about evaluating tight ends.

  80. Delson Says:

E² is going 2 be doubled n will be ineffective as the last half of the season. Sterling Shepard is gone so our whole offense bout 2 regress. Godwin isn’t the Godwin we used 2 kno. He might not ever b. We can move Sadiq around

  81. Delson Says:

Tes primarily don’t block dts numbnuts if either of u understood how offenses work haha all they gotta do is make solid contact block long enough 4 the rb 2 get thru the hole on slams n inside runs. If u run that all game long u have koetter and leftwich problems. Shouldn’t coaching in the NFL

  82. Delson Says:

Put Vea against any te in the NFL n I’ll pick Vea everytime. But he won’t need 2 block Vea every game.

    ———-

e2 was wide open over and over and over again, only to have Baker miss him by a mile. The idea that e2 struggled in the 2nd half of the year is fake news. It was 100% on Baker being awful, putting up games with 122 yards passing and 144 yards passing, etc.

If Baker is ‘healthy’, e2 will return to being great.

But McMillan, down the stretch, looked fantastic. He might end up by the end of the year being the Bucs top WR, it wouldn’t shock me.

  84. Kenton Smith Says:

Chris Godwin is looking fully recovered to me. It took him awhile but he’s back for sure. He and JMac, who it’s hard to believe with a broken neck came back with a vengeance like he did. If he’s healthy, Godwin is our leading receiver. He’s truly an elite player. Egbuka and JMac are budding young stars. Tez is a playmaker who is gonna make some plays. If our playcalling does the job there’s not a more dangerous wide receiver room in the league.

  85. BigBoiBuc Says:

Delson is the village idiot. Otton was never discussed going to the Commanders. Link one source that says that. I’ll wait. lol. What an idiot. TEs routinely block down in DTs. Let your wife watch the games and explain what’s happening to you. That’s if she’s not at my house.

  86. Orange Republic Says:

NFL is a Copycat league. McVay cracked the code in smaller, faster defenses last year with his use of 13 package(3 TEs). He’s going to go between 9 (KC kind runs their offense through TE already) and 13 imo. I don’t think he gets past Rams at 13. Bucs will trade back or take best player, but I doubt Sadiq is on the board.
