Charlie Heck Signs With The Miami Dolphins

March 16th, 2026

Last year the Bucs signed and targeted Charlie Heck to fill in for Tristan Wirfs at left tackle but absolutely refused to play him there.

In fact, the Bucs basically turned their offensive line upside down to keep Heck off the field.

It was wild. Rather than let veteran swing tackle Heck fill in for Wirfs — he practiced for months at left tackle — the Bucs kicked center Graham Barton to left tackle, left guard Ben Bredeson to center and inserted (not that) Michael Jordan into left guard for Weeks 1 through 3.

And it worked.

Heck, of course, was pressed into duty at Houston in Week 2 when right tackle Luke Goedeke left with a foot injury that sidelined him for six games.

Later in the season, Wirfs missed more time but the Bucs passed on using Heck at left tackle. Undrafted rookie Ben Chukwuma got the call instead.

As for the Heck experience in Tampa, it’s now over. He signed today with the Dolphins as a backup tackle.

we have bigger problems. What the Heck? lol

  3. FrontFour Says:

That’s fine. He struggled all season.

  4. Lakeland Says:

Charlie Heck is a journeyman Offensive Tackle
So his journey takes him to Miami

Still don’t understand why he’s not a better OT
His father was a solid offensive lineman
And his father is a good offensive line coach with the Chiefs

Heck has the perfect height, perfect weight, perfect arm length
He has all of the measurables to be a great OT

It’s hard to figure him out

  5. Beeej Says:

P The article I saw had him ranked 82nd out of 84 tackles, so there’s two guys who are even worse. Hopefully they’re not on our team

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All these players getting picked up…..Evans & Dean on pretty big contracts….maybe, just maybe….we’ll get a comp pick next year.

  7. View from 132 Says:

    What the heck.

  8. Football 1 Says:

Hey if we pay them maybe they would take Feeney too!!. As bad as Heck was and he was bad. I would have taken him over Feeney. Anyway, think we are all happy that at least Heck is gone. Hey can we now unload McColumn?. In my opinion after Feeney and Heck McColumn was next on the extremely poor playing list.

  9. Simeon4HOF Says:

This was a heck of f up by JL
And still trying to figure out how in the heck Feeney is back

  10. Fred McNeil Says:

    I won’t miss him.

  11. Kgh4life Says:

    Hopefully he’s not a starter.

  12. 3.28.Evans Says:

Sad. Gonna miss the porn stached matador. Licht is just amazing .

  13. Deeboooo Says:

When he got away with that tripping drop back kick, I realized it’s too much for him

  14. BuxfaninTX Says:

Sounds exactly like a Lovie Smith signing… 🤦‍♀️

  15. Hopein1hand… Says:

He was the Myron Lewis of OTs, minus the longevity. Way to go Bowles. See what you did? Clearly this team is tanking. All hope is lost.

But seriously, how about the Bucs sign Wyatt Teller or even better, his old teammate Bitonio. Enough jute-twine and duct tape roster fixes. The cap is fake.

  16. KABucs Says:

    I’ll miss his last name.
    That’s about it.

  17. #99 the big fella Says:

He will get the dolphins quarterback killed

    Heck Yeah!

  21. Tom Petty Says:

    Good for Charlie

  22. Buckit Says:

Charlie is credited with developing the “spin block” saw him get spun 360 degrees. I could not agree more with the disparaging comments regarding Feeney, that man was bounced off the turf many times.

  23. Capt.Tim Says:

    Dam.
Heck would have been the prize catch of our Free agent haul so far!
Guess Licht couldn’t land ALL the top FAs!
I mean, we grabbed Dan Feeney and Ko Keift up, before the league could steal them away!
Gotta give the other 31 teams A CHANCE next year. Can’t hoard all the talent!
    Right Jason?

  24. ModHairKen Says:

One of their better free agency moves. Addition by subtraction

  25. LynchMob50 Says:

    Fire Bowles now!

  26. Tony Says:

Maybe they can take Braswell from us now, too!

  27. HC Grover Says:

This is a very low energy off season. Led by the Sideline Stiff. Not promising.

  28. D-Rome Says:

    I wish him well.

  29. FloridaGirl Says:

Not on the team moving forward….anything on health of the broken ones that have been signed/resigned?
