History On Bucs’ Side

September 22nd, 2025

There is some hesitation in this here story for Joe, but there is also a happy ending.

And cross your fingers this works out.

The Bucs are doing great business for cardiologists in the greater Tampa Bay region. The way the Bucs play these nail-biter games is giving folks heart palpitations.

The Bucs made NFL history yesterday when they pushed their record to 3-0, becoming the first team to win its first three games with game-winning scores in the final minute. Armed with that information, Joe is confident fans won’t be surprised by the following.

Per Mike Sando of The Athletic, the Bucs are tied with the 2020 Titans and the 2005 Redskins for being 3-0 with the smallest margin of victories (+6 points). Yes, that fits when you are producing game-winning in the final minute each week.

However, here is the good news: The 2020 Titans and the 2005 Redskins ended the season with double-digit wins and trips to the playoffs.

I almost broke my TV after the blocked FG and score and almost missed Baker’s 3rd miracle.

    We broke the Creamcicle curse.
Broke the let’s honor at half time but lose the game curse.

The Bucs are going to have their hands full next week. Unless we start getting key players back, we might get steamrolled. I also want to be humble and inside expect them to lose but have Baker and the team surprise me….again.

  2. Stpetematt Says:

Maybe Baker goes nuts next week and scored TDs on every drive. You never know…

  3. Ricki Says:

there are really fans out there that thought we werent going to get into field goal range will a little less than 2 min left?

  4. JA Says:

    Shaz——

Two of the Eagle DL starters who crushed Mahomes, Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, have moved on.
The pressure will still be there, with our banged up OL, but it will be far less severe.
Personally, I don’t think the Eagles are as good as last year. And they were lucky with the injury bug. Let’s see if that luck continues this year.

  5. Aqualung Says:

Well as someone pointed out, the combined record of our 3 vanquished opponents is 1-8. We beat them by a red nose hair with late defensive collapse in each. A common theme under Todd the defensive genius.

The next four opponents are a combined 9-3.

With Todd’s defense continuing to not show up for opening drives and disappear at the ends of games, look for 3-4 in a month and all the snowflakes will have melted. It’s a passing league.

  6. heyjude Says:

Love that picture of Coach Bowles! Feels Halloweenish lol.

Yes, the 3rd game in a row down to the wire and thankfully the heart is a pumping. I think we are all used to it.

TheShaz – Yes, we broke the curse of the creamsicles. And previously we won the Monday night game. Another curse broken.

  7. BucYou Says:

Bucs match up very well against the Eagles, 4-0 isn’t out of the question, even with the injuries. Rams had a big lead on em. This is closer to 50/50 than a lot of pundits will suggest this week.

  8. Aqualung Says:

Getting a big lead won’t happen with whatever OL juggling Todd decides on. But if we do, the Eagles will come back in the 4th quarter except they’ll score the winner with no time left for Baker.

  9. Jmarkbuc Says:

Next six weeks is the season

  10. GoneGator Says:

Good news is the offense has not played close to its potential…. If they ever get close to that again we’ll be fine.

  11. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    StPete,

I’ll even take every other drive, at least that would be an improvement over punting 3-4 offensive possessions in a row every week.

  12. Joe Says:

Love that picture of Coach Bowles! Feels Halloweenish lol.

Joe thought it looked like Bowles walking into a Vegas club with his posse.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

Aqualung … ‘look for 3-4 in a month and all the snowflakes will have melted. It’s a passing league.’

Nah, can’t see us going on a 4-game losing streak. There’ll be at least 1 win in there, and very possibly 2. I’d say being at least 4-3 after 7 games is more likely than 3-4, given our 3-0 start but extensive injuries to date. And with the Saints being the next up after those first 7, we could be 5-3 at the BYE.

In our 9 games after the BYE, I’m expecting about a 6-3 record. That could put us at 11-6 or maybe 10-7 if injuries keep pounding us. Either SHOULD be enough though Aqualung to win the NFC South and make the playoffs. How far we go from there though is anyone’s guess at this point. It’ll depend a lot I think on how healthy we are at that point.

Oh and talking about it being a ‘passing league’, noticed something interesting this morning. Bucs’ defense has only given up 639 Passing Yards in our 3 games, ranking us #19 in the NFL. That’s a lot better than being ranked #29 like we were last season. We’re doing quite well on the Run Defense side also, ranking #6 giving up 252 running yards. Overall in Yards we’re ranked #11 to date. Sounds like a significant improvement to me.

  14. Everything is just horrble! Says:

In 2020 Aquathong was aka The Bucco Realisto!
    lol

  15. heyjude Says:

    Even better, Joe!

  16. Ufcguy Says:

Team hasn’t played up to our potential. If Todd doesn’t realize it he better ir we will get blown out by Philly. This team is more physical than we are. We will see if we can put together a complete game. If they put wirfs at anywhere other than left tackle im going to be angry. This team continues to overthink things to the point of stupidity. You put guys back where they played. We get too cute and end up creating a mess. Wirfs left tackle Benson guard Barton center. Fix the rest.

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

    GG

Our favorite resident troll hopefully missed GMFB this morning! If not he’s going to be in a very foul mood because the so called “experts” claimed that our troll is full of manure. Well not exactly they just spewed takes 180 degrees opposite of our resident Bowles hating troll. But what do they know compared to a blogger who is obsessed? LMAO

The guys on GFMB spent a large portion of their Jets/Bucs review praising obviously Baker but then really laid it on about Todd’s defensive prowess and what a great job he’s done. But again what do they know?

  18. stpetebucsfan Says:

BTW GG agree completely with the observation we haven’t played up to our potential.

And yet we’ve won two games on the road, one at home and remain undefeated.

We’ve done this with the OL in shambles, CG out, Jalen, the injury bug has bitten hard this season already. But the Bucs somehow survived which begs these questions.

1.) How did they do this with what poster incessantly yammers on about the worst Defensive Coach in football…although in the face of all this success the blame is now shifting to how this guys delegates.

2.) How are people criticizing “The Grizz”? 3 straight wins, decent to very good production from the Offense despite an OL devastated by injury?

I guess according to some of our “fans” it’s just dumb luck!

  19. GoneGator Says:

    @stpete

We’re getting some of KCs luck ie we’re winning the ugly ones like they did the last few years. That’s important!

I DO believe our offense will be much more consistent and productive (without so much hero ball by Baker) as the season goes on if we can get more of our starters back and as Grizz adjusts and adapts.

I also think our defense is just scratching the surface of its potential. Improvement has been obvious but it should improve as the season goes on if we can avoid injuries in a few key positions.

    @DR

Thanks for the stats – as always.

  20. Hodad Says:

The Bucs couldn’t keep contain on Taylor. Twice during the first drive alone he broke contain on both sides getting big gains. Both YaYa, and Reddick were guilty. If Taylor didn’t escape going around, he went through. Like his TD throw where Dennis double teamed the back letting him step up in the pocket for a TD throw. Now Hurts is coming to town with a much better O line. If Taylor got 48 yards rushing, what will Hurts get? If the Bucs let Hurts outside the pocket like they let Taylor, we will lose this game.

  21. stpetebucsfan Says:

Tyrod Taylor played a great game whether we wish to admit it or not.

There is plenty of fault with the special teams. How many times have you seen a guy just jump over a lineman, not allowed to touch him during the leap, come down and cleanly block the ball which of course took the perfect bounce right into the Jets defender headed towards the end zone. He didn’t have to scoop or slow it was the Universe saying…here’s a TD simply do not fall down.

My point is two fold. Yes I’ll listen to anybody who wishes to rip the Bucs ST and I guess consequently their coach or is it the talent? They are the weak link right now.

Having acknowledged that as I frequently say LUCK has a lot to do with football.
It’s an oblong ball that takes funny bounces. There are CLOSE calls that either get missed or called improperly. IMHO that contested Jets TD was incomplete getting juggled to the ground while EE’s denied catch looked a LOT more complete.

So a horrible, unimaginable OL play letting a guy leap you completely and cleanly? Then the block which bounces up PERFECTLY. And two contested calls that could have and probably should have gone the other way.

The Jets got a lot of breaks!!! But I do not dismiss their talent. They are not a contender but even the worst team in the NFL can beat the best.

If you peoed at yesterday how do you think Pack fans feel? How do you go into the 4th Q with only ten points against the Pack. Stranger still is how the Pack with the great Micah Parsons let the freaking Browns…the mistake by the lake..score 13 unanswered points in the 4th Q!

As the late Chris Thomas always preached NFL stands for No F89king Logic”.

It’s the NFL. CELEBRATE. THE BUCS ARE 3-0 with two road wins over teams expected to reach the playoffs. Although I’m beginning to wonder about the Falcons.

  22. Gman Says:

Was excited to jump on the Beagles and -3 this morning. We aren’t playing trash this week boys and girls…we are playing the Champs. Would love to be wrong and would gladly lose my bet, but this ain’t the Jets.

  23. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Gman

Certainly don’t fault your logic. Just curious. I occasionally make a wager but only on the Bucs or perhaps a prop bet or two.

But when the Bucs don’t look like the winner, and I agree I wouldn’t bet on them Sunday, I simply skip the deal because I can’t stand rooting FOR myself, huge Bucs fan, and against myself, if I bet against the Bucs. I’m torn enough already!

  24. Kenton Smith Says:

Gman, I think I speak for the majority here when I say we’d “gladly” watch you lose your bet! Why don’t you go double down on that bet. Odds are you win.

  25. Esteban85 Says:

We win the games we should win from her on out and we go 12-5 or 11-4

  26. Esteban85 Says:

I don’t think the latter is even possible

  27. #99 the big fella Says:

Aqualung As a buc fan why do you and your brother HC Grover hate Bowles so much?

  28. Aqualung Says:

Go watch the Jets march down the field twice in the 4th quarter if you want to vomit. Like the defense were all told to back up into the endzone seats. Disgraceful. This what they are being coached to do.

    Vomitous.

  29. #99 the big fella Says:

Aqualung , why do you dislike Bowles so much?
Hc Grover is just like you every post you have something negative to say.
I will take a win no matter how we got it.

  30. orlbucfan Says:

stpete, I’m a diehard old fart fan like you (I bet I’m older 😂). I am so proud of this Mighty walking wounded Bucs team, I could bust a gut! 3-0. Against everything including the @@@@@@@@ zebras. BTW, that so-called blocked punt in the Texan game was NOT blocked. No hands touched it. Go back and look at the video. Bucs are lucky their punter didn’t get his neck broken. If we can FINALLY get back to full strength, the sky is the limit for this ball club. 11-6? Conservative guess.

  31. Aqualung Says:

Want to see a well coached team? Watch a replay of the Lions taking down the Ravens in Baltimore. Aggressive relentless defense. A 3rd string DE had 3 sacks of Lamar. The Bowles Turtle Show would be made into soup by Lamar. We know there’s a receding reptile with a brain disorder who doesn’t like Dan Campbell but he is the model of what a great HC is. And he has two full time coordinators reporting to him.

Inspiring, creative, bold, precise. Well schemed. Well prepared. Aligned. Knew their assignments. Even special teams without a short bus.

Lions bullied a Super Bowl favorite.

And we beat the theeetards by a combined 6 points after three defensive collapses in 4th quarters only to be rescued in the final seconds by Baker’s heroics.

Hope Jason was watching this game.
