“He Caught It! He Caught The Ball! He Caught It!”

September 23rd, 2025

Mic’ed up.

Relive the Bucs’ win over the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets through the voice of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The NFL released a short video of Mayfield, who was mic’ed up for the game. Good stuff.

Joe always references the following because it was so hilarious. The Bucs know cornerback Jamel Dean cannot catch a cold. It’s why he’s a cornerback.

Two years ago after catching an interception in practice, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said he was going to have Dean drug-tested the play was so shocking.

Apparently, this has been a running joke in the locker room for some time.

When Dean caught a pick Sunday and housed it for six, Mayfield, as can be heard in the video, began hollering, “He caught it! He caught the ball! He caught it!”

Good stuff.

Mayfield, at least the way the video was edited, also called his shot on a Bucs’ scoring drive.

Joe hopes Mayfield is mic’ed up for all games. This is fun.

This guy. What a signing. What a great fit.

He can be Mayor of Tampa when he’s done.

  2. GenocideD Says:

    Bakefield FTW!! Go Bucs!!

After how he came into the league and some of the perceived issues he had it is crazy to see that he is one of the most likable players in the NFL right now. I dont know of another player that just about every fan of every team knows and roots for.

Reminds me of when Favre was at his prime.

  4. BakerFan Says:

Baker shows total control before taking the snap. Sunday you could hear him talking…. to a lineman “who do you have” also several times “we are good when approaching the line and reading the defense.

Playing fearless and knowing what is going on. That is a leader of men in any occupation.

NO DAMN WONDER PEOPLE LIKE PLAYING FOR HIM

  5. David Says:

He is such a great story. Maybe he was a little more immature but… What in the hell was Cleveland thinking?

I was convinced he was a one year stop gap so they could draft someone in that draft that had about seven QBs coming out. I was praying they would take Jayden Daniels.

So glad I was wrong. Baker has been Phenomenal.

  6. Joe Says:

LOL What was Carolina thinking? Matt Rhule had the following and shipped them all out: Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore.

And Nebraska fans wonder why Rhule cannot beat a ranked team at home.

Feisty Bake is a C-H-A-R-A-C-T-E-R! I’m still laffin’. And the camaraderie in that locker room, priceless. You can not make this stuff up. No wonder Cleveland has been having major meltdowns while Tampa Bay Buc World is going “What the ?????” I still wish Bake would learn to slide!

  8. garro Says:

Funny…Not funny. I said the same thing sitting on my sofa all the way on the other side of the planet. From Thailand to Tampa. Maybe some of yall heard it? LOL

    Go Bucs!

  9. BucU Says:

This defense has collapsed late in the 4th quarter in each of the first 3 games.
2 times Baker has bailed them out and the ex ATL kicker bailed them out as well.
Nobody is talking about that. This has to stop. This team can not get a stop when they need to at the end of games. Has anybody asked our defensive mastermind why this is happening each and every game? By Baker creating miracles on final drives it hasn’t bitten us yet. But it will. So fix it Todd Bowles!!!!!

  10. Bama Rich Says:

    Joe,

I think Baker’s success is a direct result of a Deva less receiver room.

    Character counts!

    lets go

by the title, i thought this article was for the EE catch/noncatch lol…

    EE2 definitely caught the ball!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

David, glad it’s worked out for all. But “praying we could draft Jayden Daniels?” He was the second pick. I guess we’d have had to go 1-16 to get him. I like Daniels too but I’m sure not praying to go 1-16. Now I don’t mean to diminish anyone’s religious beliefs and I guess I’d have to agree Tampa and Baker looks like a match made in heaven!!

This hurt Joe 🙁 Can’t believe big red didn’t win that game, an absolute heartbreaker knowing that 1-2 big plays won them that game, it could’ve easily looked a lot different.

On the bright side though, I get to root for year 3 Matt Rhule and go 2-1 against Penn State, USC and Iowa and the playoffs are still right there.

  15. heyjude Says:

Love the mic’d up video! Baker is such a great guy. They need to put him on a Wheaties box!

  16. Joe Says:

    2-1 against Penn State

Thinking Penn State is a tad overrated. Good, but not top-shelf. James Franklin talks a better game than he coaches.

Oregon looks scary as hell, but they always burn out toward the end of the season.

Dylan Raiola needs to get over his “Single White Female” complex with Pat Mahomes. This dude is no Mahomes. He could be a really good quarterback if he stopped tying to copy everything Mahomes does.

    USC might be quite good.

Oregon looks scary as hell, but they always burn out toward the end of the season.

Oregon and Ohio State not being on the schedule is huge for the playoff chances. I’m hoping that we can be 9-2 going into Iowa, going to be in Lincoln for that and I need that environment to be ELECTRIC.

  18. rrsrq Says:

When Bake said that in the locker room, I thought he was talking about the Ebuka catch

  19. ClwJB3 Says:

    BAKER FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

  20. Bartow Buc Says:

When Baker was playing at OU, all you had to do was watch and you could tell he was definitely NFL talent. What were the Brownies thinking after they drafted him number 1 overall ? His play was not that bad, but they just let him go. All they had to do was build his style of offense around him and Baker would still be there. I’m so thankful that our GM gave him a chance !! Baker is a winner, a fighter, and a championship quarterback!!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Eagles !!

  21. Biggun Says:

Earn your wins…. This will go a long way though the season. Some games will be won by a good margin some like what we have seen first three games, but in the long run this will help us close out the close ones from the experience, injuries will work themselves out and wow what a team we have with various players stepping in when called upon. GO BUCS!!!

  22. Leopold Stotch Says:

DEAN CAUGHT IT! What a line!

  23. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Baker “The I Know I Look Good” Mayfield is priceless. And yes we are lucky to have him just wish Coen had stayed. The best OC he’s ever hadHe’d probably throw 45 tds this year

    Clearly an upgrade.

    NFL MONEY LOVING MACHINE
Could make a TON with PPV miked up audio that fans could dial into, like NASCAR has for drivers and spotters or whoever they are talking to

  26. Kenton Smith Says:

I watched that clip just now and watching Baker fake out that linebacker was priceless! It looked like a basketball pump fake. Alot of these athletes played basketball growing up. If Mayfield had tried that pump fake crap on somebody like Parrish, who wrestled, he likely would have had bruised ribs and a sore tailbone. You’d think defenders would see that on film and know that if they saw that to run right through him. Somebody should tell Baker that before he learns the hard way. At least he isn’t trying to jump over guys like some of these guys are doing.
