Players Rank Baker Mayfield 50th-Best In The NFL

The list of Baker Mayfield believers is growing exponentially.
He’s climbed into the top-10 of many preseason quarterback rankings, and loads of national talking heads are giving Mayfield his just due.
Not it’s the players’ turn. The annual survey of about 700 players (per the NFL) for the league’s top-100 players list, revealed today that Mayfield was ranked No. 50 in the league by his peers. The video feature is below. There’s nothing enlightening revealed, but it is a fun watch.
Mayfield didn’t make the top-100 list after his strong 2023 season that sent him to a playoff victory and the Pro Bowl. Last year, Mayfield was a better passer and a far better runner, and he got recognized accordingly.
How many more years of Bucs greatness does Mayfield have in him?

There are 22 starting positions in the NFL. Now, consider how deep the QB, WR and DL talent is. 50 is an awesome ranking for a guy that was battling for a job with Trask a few years ago.

Those players didn’t check with oneilbuc and RodMunch. Those two have been anti Baker going back to his signing as a free agent in 2023. Bucs and Baker set up for a big season in 2025. Hopefully, Bucs defense will just be mediocre which would be a tremendous improvement over the last several years.

Gipper, a mediocre defense isn’t what I would define our defense from the last few years. Shorthanded maybe. Banged up surely. But effort and attitude have eclipsed mediocre in my book and although we didn’t get Emmanwori as you’d been fantasizing doesn’t mean we didn’t strengthen our defense this draft. And added a few more pieces and gotten everyone healthy. We have a team this year that is one of the best in the league. No doubt about that.

Being voted by his peers to be in the top 50, places ol’ Bake among the leagues elite. There is not much better than a peer-voted accolade like this. It is a significant honor and recognition of Bakers on field performance and his impact on the game. Wait until he actually gets to spend sometime with the same OC for 5 years instead of having to always learning everything new. The cream is rising, slow but sure.
If Josh G can make the transition to OC and do for the whole offense what he did for 3rd downs, look out, we are going to be something to watch and cheer for every Sunday.
