Another Look At A Strong Play By Kyle Trask And Bucky Irving
August 4th, 2025
Better catch?
So maybe the biggest training camp play outside of Mike Evans demonstrating more than once to Benjamin Morrison what it’s like to play in the NFL happened Saturday.
Joe has attended every open practice but one or two since Kyle Trask was drated in 2021. And Saturday, Joe saw Trask make maybe the best pass Joe has seen from the Florida product.
Trask lofted a pass down the left sideline — not lollipopped as is Trask’s recent habit on deep passes. The ball fell perfectly for Bucky Irving to make a play.
In the moment, Joe noticed Bucky had to reach out for the ball. Great throw, solid catch. But now that Joe has seen video, Joe’s starting to think the catch was extraordinary.
Here is the initial description in Joe’s practice notes.
Kyle Trask had maybe his best throw Joe has seen as far as production. He launches a bomb down the left sideline that Bucky Irving reached out and pulled in. Beautiful. The crowd went absolutely crazy and began chanting loudly “Buh-KEE… Buh-KEE… Buh-KEE!” It was a perfect throw. As Bucky returned to the huddle, Payne Durham gave Bucky a huge swat on the backside for his effort. When guys make plays, even in practice, teammates show love.
The video below shows Bucky stretched out for the catch, alright. Now a Bucs fan by the handle of “MrBucsNation” posts video from Bucs training camp practices on Twitter. The video of Bucky’s catch is a better angle and upon seeing it, Joe is beginning to think Bucky’s catch was better than Trask’s throw. And it was a helluva throw.
Bucky is just such a fun weapon.
Joe’s not walking back on suggesting that may have been Trask’s best throw since the Bucs drafted him. But Joe is having second thoughts on Bucky’s catch. That may have been even better than Trask’s throw.

Big surprise u downplay Trask. Ur a Seminoles fan ie America’s QB Winston when us real buc fans been saying he was trash. Arians let him him loose 2 throw n showed America what laughing stock he was at QB n pushed us even farther down the totem pole of a real NFL team is. Even after Tom Brady nobody respects us. Before that u were about America’s QB manziel. It’s true that nobody can foresee a QBs greatness but man Trask never got his shot. I’m a firm believer that u can’t learn 2 play in the league from watching on the sideline. I wish greatness from baker I really do. But Trask is also an unknown. Baker has had starts n that automatically put him above Trask such a shame he never got his chance

Nice to see our running backs downfield receiving passes. Sure worked for old Cowboys and Emmitt Smith before his beard turned gray and he was confined to a wheelchair!
Say, how did they get away with that commercial? Seems it had a ‘There’s Something About Mary’ humor ring to it.

The thing I joked about with that play was based in truth. Bucky’s legs hit the Rev limiter on that one. He hit overdrive as the ball was coming so he could catch it! Wow play for all and the coverage was not bad either. Looked like Grier.
Go Bucs!

Fantastic throw by Kyle Trask

I was at Saturday’s practice, and my initial reaction was that the ball was uncatchable, it was just too far out for Bucky to make the catch. Bucky dove and then he jumps up celebrating. The crowd broke out into the now familiar “Bucky”
chant. It was a magnificent catch, the type of catch only a stud WR can typically make.

Kyle Trask throws a beautiful deep ball with that rifle arm

It’s going to be fun watching defenses have to guard the likes of the Bucs skill players. All are coming back, and we added Egbuka, and Tez. Fans are cool on Tez, but I tell you watching his college tape he just makes so many plays. Tez might also be that punt returner we’ve been sorely missing. LFG!

Its on film now
Trask gets in, you gotta play deep.
Trask may be great he may suck, its kinda clever to flash that play now and then. Defenses have to be ready every week just in case.
And if baker starts throwing the deep ball better im gonna start talking big.

Can u imagine if we had this offense, with Dungys hall of fame littered Defensive !! Holy crap…what did Sapp used to say, Give us 17 pts a game and we got it from there…can u imagine 30 per game!? We would have won at least 3 Super Bowls during that stretch! Instead we got….none

Watching the video that was an excellent catch, and an excellent throw. The coverage was there, the defender did their job just got beat by a great play by the offense. Of course if that was Dean in coverage, all the morons in the comments wouldn’t even notice the throw or catch, they’d just endlessly whine about Dean.

I will never change my name !!

If y’all noticed you will never see Bakerbuc, Davyboy, Gipper on anything when Trask gets credit about his play and not just them but some other ones!! Lol 🤣🤣. I keep telling people I don’t know if Baker Mayfield better than Kyle Trask regardless of what one of the Joe’s say and it can be the players around him to .
August 4th, 2025 at 6:14 pm
I believe we could survive with Trask and maybe do well in the event that Mayfield was out for a while. Having not watched Trask in college I only had a small sample to evaluate him. I also had faith based on the fact that the Bucs have kept him for many seasons now. In Bowles and Licht I trust.
To me it should no longer be a contentions issue that Trask is a good back-up QB for us.

Again Baker is a name we don’t know if Kyle Trask is just a back up . He might be slightly better than Baker Mayfield for all we know. What we have seen is every time he gets a chance he shines so far . He did it in college and he done it in the SEC.
