Cody Mauch: Fan Asked To Stick A Finger In My Mouth

Buccaneers fans are a unique bunch. Decades of wild roller coaster rides have made some very unique individuals.
Joe brings this up because of guard Cody Mauch’s response to a simple question: “What is the craziest thing a fan has ever said or done to you?”
Mauch was a guest on the Beyond The Spotlight podcast and paused before giving his answer.
He talked about attending a Buccaneers-themed cruise that brought fans and some players together. While on the cruise and mingling, per Mauch, one spirited dude asked permission to stick a finger in the famous gap in Mauch’s mouth. For those unaware, Mauch is missing his top-center two front teeth.
“No dude, I’m not going to let you do that,” Mauch said he told the guy.
What happened next? “A couple of beers later” Mauch said he gave the fan the green light to shove a digit in his mouth and take a picture.
Mauch’s friends were stunned, he said. Mauch said he’s not sure why he agreed to the put another man’s digit in his mouth but he’s glad to have a “funny story” to share.
“Now I can sit here and tell something like that, probably not the most sanitary thing in the world,” Mauch added.

A teammate offered up his finger along with the rarely heard aphorism, “A finger to the throat will make you The GOAT.”
