Progress! Bucs Open 3 Training Camp Practices To General Public.

June 13th, 2025

Joe is excited for fans!

The Bucs announced nine training camp dates open to fans today, and three of those will be available to the masses and will not require a connection to a special interest group.

Last year, it was only two practices avaialble to the average Joes. In 2023, it was just one practice. In 2022, it was zero.

This year’s sessions for the general public are the first two practices of the summer, Thursday, July 24 at 8:30 a.m. at One Buc Palace, followed by the same schedule for Friday, July 25.

The third and final practice open to the general public will take place on Friday, August 1, and will again feature a post-practice kids autograph line. Additionally, guests from the Special Olympics will have the opportunity to participate in post-practice drills with the players.

Six sessions are reserved for season ticket holders, corporate partners and other select groups.

Training camp for fan viewing ends with a joint practice against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, August 7.

Fans can head to Buccaneers.com to get info on registering for a ticket to practice. (Yes, you’ll need a ticket.)

Bucs chief operating officer Brian Ford issued a statement talking about how much he loves fans at training camp.

Great news! Thank you for the dates!

Nice. I’d like to think the Joes deserve some credit for hounding the organization about this every offseason summer!

  4. Joe Says:

    unbelievable:

Thanks. Joe truly thinks fans get the shaft from the Bucs for this. Atlanta, for example, has 11 training camp practices open to the general public this summer. The Saints had minicamp practices open. The Jags had rookie minicamp open to the public.

Around the turn of the century the Bucs used to have a fan fest. They did away with that. When Joe asked why (at the time), a suit told Joe that was morphed into the annual night practice at the stadium. OK.

Then the Bucs did away with the night practice at the stadium. Then the Bucs starting whittling away at the number of practices at training camp open to the public.

Joe thinks they had three open practices to the general public in Tom Brady’s third season. The Bucs had zero open training camp practices in 2020 and 2021 because of The Sickness.

The Bucs claim season ticket holders and select special interest groups deserve a chance to come out to training camp since they are dropping so much money on the Bucs.

Joe understands that, but let’s be real: How many season ticket holders would cancel their tickets if they could only see, say, two training camp practices?

However, the Bucs could use open practices to the general public for a giant season ticket sales event. They could likely pull more new season ticket holders into the family than chase away current season ticket holders by limiting their chances of seeing a training camp practice.

Hell, the Bucs have all kinds of open space they could let fans in, standing room only. They claim they can’t do that per fire code violations.

Joe is confident a local firefighter reads this here site and can weigh in on that claim.

^ Completely agree with all of that, and it has always seemed weird to me just how much they have closed off training camp practices to the public… Hopefully the reversal of that trend continues.

And yeah, I don’t think there’s a single season ticket holder who would bail on their tickets due to a lower number of exclusive training camp days LOL. They’re more likely to drop their tickets for being forced to pay for preseason games IMO.

I attended the fanfest a couple of times that they did inside Raymond James. It was a lot of fun! It would be nice if they started that and/or the night practice again.

Where did all the Trolls go? Joe, did you sprinkle some diatomaceous earth around the base of the bridge?

I think the Glazers deserve a world of credit for what they have done with this franchise. Truly turned this organization into something the people of the Tampa Bay area can be really proud of. But to me these practices should be accessible to the fans that like the team but maybe can’t afford to go to the games. Young working families that don’t have a prayer of being able to afford to attend games.

Perhaps by rewarding scholastic achievement where the winning students can bring their immediate family. I feel for these families trying to make it when everything is so expensive for them. They are the future paying fan base. When I see only three practices open to the general public that is almost an embarrassingly low number. Open the gates and maybe (as JBF opined) lower the amount of practices that cater to special interest. Keep working to bring in young families. Also hats off to JBF for continuing to write about this.

    Exactly!

    Thanks man!

It just rubs Joe the wrong way. The Glazer Family gets beat up on way too much. But stunts like this perpetuate an unfair if not wrongful image.

Like the only fans that are worthy of watching the Bucs practice are those who drop thousands of dollars on them. It’s not like the NFL is going broke, geez.

  13. Bucswin Says:

Now if they could only put up a huge sail that would give us some shade for those 1pm heatbowl games. Or just put a cover on it like L.A. did. #sunpoising….Go Bowles!

  14. Mike C Says:

Bucswin EXACTLY, You could literally put hand crank “Sails” that could extend and retract on the cheep and provide shade……just not to the opposing side line like in Miami lol.

  15. Mike C Says:

Joe, you have your next mission

    —-
    Absolutely. 100%. Long overdue.

Not only providing shade but the sail would make it entirely unique. Unlike anything else in the league. Seems like such a no-brainer. Glazers need to get that sorted out. Posthaste.

  17. BigBoiBuc Says:

@joe – willing to take a shot at a post camp 53 projection? This might be a very hard year to do one. Lots of competition I think at WR and the secondary.

  18. Delusional Intelligence Says:

A big thank you to JBF for continuing to harp on Mr. Ford et al on this topic. I still think it is shameful how few practices are open to the average Joe. The last practice I actually attended was a FanFest. What a blast those were! Would love to hear what Chucky would say when given the stats on open practices of the Bucs and other NFL teams within 800 miles. At least you members of the media got some water for OTAs.

Maybe next year: JoeBucsFan Day! In Joe We Trust.

  20. garro Says:

Not good. The Glazers could fix this in fifteen minutes! It seems that all they care about are PR moves. BTW some of this PR stuff is way too much.

    Go Bucs!

  21. Scubog Says:

As a 50 year season ticket holder who has attended more Training Camp practices than most, I’m glad the team is having more practice sessions open to the general public. I don’t think the team is doing anything but trying to reward certain groups, rather than penalize others. I’ve been watching practice since the days I stood in the back of my Chevy Luv illegally peeking between the bushes at the Old One Buc, to the sweltering days at Disney, to the evening sessions at Pepin Rood, and now the practices in which the team actually makes it an event. I do think they need to replace those bleacher seats. Maybe some business can pony up for some new ones in exchange for naming rights. “The Joe Bucs Fan.com Bleachers” Nice ring to it.
