Emeka Egbuka: “Blessing” To Be Able To Learn From Mike Evans And Chris Godwin

April 24th, 2025

New Bucs rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka.

Joe could easily see if the Bucs drafted a typical diva receiver and the guy started speaking like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin better be prepared to lose targets now that he is joining the Bucs.

Emeka Egbuka isn’t that guy.

The man from the Ford factory of wide receivers, Ohio State, looks at his selection by the Bucs in the first round tonight as a valuable opportunity to learn how to be an NFL receiver from two of the very best.

Speaking via Zoom with the local pen and mic club, Egbuka said he is stoked for the chance to learn from Evans and Godwin. Egbuka noted he’s used to joining a crowded wide receivers room. His room in Columbus was full of stars when Egbuka joined the Buckeyes.

“Chris and Mike, they have done it at a very high level for a very long time,” Egbuka said. “Which is something I am looking to do in my NFL career as well.

“I think just being able to learn from them, just the ins and outs of NFL football, and to pick their brains on stuff [is valuable]. I’m a student of the game. I love learning about it. Having those guys in the same room as me, it’s a blessing. So I’m glad to be a part of it.”

Joe hates to be repetitive but it’s true: This Egbuka is as close to a Chris Godwin twin as you can find. Egbuka has heard the same whispers and he seems honored to be able to be teammates of Godwin and Evans.

And just like he did at Ohio State, perhaps Egbuka can continue the tradition of non-diva receivers that star for the Bucs.

I wanted Barron, but you can’t deny this dudes a stud

Safe pick, future #1 and best #3-4 in the league

Was coached by Ohio States GOAT WR coach for years, and broke records at the prestigious WR University Ohio State

Dudes as polished as you can be as a rookie

  2. Hodad Says:

Great pick, stoked to see this offense. They helped Baker bake!

  3. Brandon Says:

If anybody knows WRs, it’s Jason Licht. Just about every WR he’s picked has outplayed their draft position… even Mike Evans. I’m sure he sees greatness in EE otherwise we’d have gone another direction

  4. SlyPirate Says:

Green Bay mgmt said he was their desired pick.

  5. Buc1987 Says:

    LFG!!!

I like it much. The Bucs cant coach up edge players and we have a full room. The linebacker is recovering from surgery. We cannot draft corners in rd 1. We cannot draft safety in rd 1 either as we already have highest paid safety in the building. So Wide reciever was the pick and Egbuka is the safest one on the board. Good, we have a safe exciting pick.

  7. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Love this Pick.
Barber and Company were trying to get Golden drafted before him if necessary lol.
Had been trying to warm up to DT/DE in Rd 1, but our Starters are just so good. Once the top 3 were gone, WR was the best position to make immediate impact. If Evans misses any time we will still have an Offense now. Fully Healthy we are unstoppable.
Protect Baker and no NFC team should outscore us.
Without a stud CB, WR or trade down was best way to go.
Fell right into our lap. Flexibility coming in was everything to be able to do this. Love love love how JL has built this roster.
But Must go CB in RD 2

  8. Chris Says:

    Simeon4HOF – love love love lol I hope you’re s female

  9. Les Says:

Get a corner next ! Then edge .

  10. Joaquim Valente Says:

F*ck the lightning for going down 0-2 and F*CK the Bucs for not drafting Campbell and letting the eagles draft him. Bucs suck, lightning suck, sports suck but at least I have a model of a wife and can choke Brady out with ease.

  11. Simeon4HOF Says:

Chris I hop you are b@@@@. Stfu mf

  12. Simeon4HOF Says:

Giving JL props and our Bucs due props.
Love my team. And I will beat your dumb azz if you want

  13. Buc1987 Says:

Simeon4HOF…I think Chris could take you!

  14. Hearty Dikerson Says:

    @SlyPirate

“ Green Bay mgmt said he was their desired pick.”

Just curious. Where did you see this?

  15. Saskbucs Says:

Good comment Brandon… I hope thats true.

Same SlyPirate… would love to have poached GB and ended up with the far superior WR when all said and done.

  16. firethecannons Says:

well sure I don’t know much but matthew Golden looked like a diva and doubt he is gonna be a blocking wide out either.

  17. Simeon4HOF Says:

OK lol. Whatever. Ain’t into bein a keyboard samurai. Yall have a good time 2nite you 2 lol. Bih probably big mad we drafted a WR I dunno

  18. Simeon4HOF Says:

Yep. Chrissy, she mad we didn’t reach for a CB. Dumb mf lol

  19. Oneilbuc Says:

No more excuses for Baker Mayfield how much more do you need it NFC Championship or bust no more excuses.

  20. Chris Says:

Should of took Jahadee Barron , Denver selected him right behind us to pair him up with Patrick Surtain yeah the Bucs let Sean Payton’s Defense get a whole lot better, while we have Hot Tub Dean Bowles son, little depth throughout our entire Defense. 🤦‍♂️ .

  21. Chris Says:

Took a #4 Receiver over a plug and play Corner who can play inside and outside.

  22. Aqualung Says:

Very pleasurable moment after watching our hoped for center cut stool pushing beasts go a few before us. This makes the Darden and Kenny Bell clones on the roster looking to the CFL or some start up Australian league. Or flag football.

  23. heyjude Says:

Love the pick for WR. Jason knows what he is doing.

Mike, Chris, Baker, and others will wrap their arms around him and give him support and we fans will too! Go Meka Go!
