Buccaneers Draft Cornerback Jacob Parrish In Round 3
April 25th, 2025The Bucs’ history drafting Kansas State players gives some fans the shivers, but this new one is exciting.
In Round 3, the Bucs grabbed K-State corner Jacob Parrish.
He’s a speedster with a 4.35-second time in the 40 yard dash, and plenty of other strong athletic traits. At 5-10 (officially a quarter-inch less than 5-10) and 191 pounds, he sure looks like a nickel back, though various scouting reports believe he can play outside in the NFL.
Todd Bowles said he wants ballhawks and competition at cornerback, and now he’s really got the latter. Parrish has four picks last season and one last year.
Joe is very eager to hear how the Bucs plan to use him.

2025 Bucs Secondary (With Jamel Dean’s Health Considerations)
**CB1:** Jamel Dean (if healthy) / Benjamin Morrison
**CB2:** Benjamin Morrison / Zyon McCollum
**Nickel/Slot:** Tykee Smith / Jacob Parrish
**CB Depth:** Zyon McCollum, Tyrek Funderburk, Josh Hayes, UDFA or Another Draft pick?
**FS:** Antoine Winfield Jr.
**SS:** Christian Izien
**Jamel Dean (CB1):** If healthy, Dean is the top corner. His injury history means the Bucs need to be ready for **Morrison** or **McCollum** to step up if he misses time.
**Benjamin Morrison (CB2/CB1 if Dean is injured):** Morrison is a polished rookie who could easily step into the **CB1** role if **Dean** gets hurt. He’s ready to start from day one.
**Zyon McCollum (CB Depth):** McCollum has the athleticism to be a starter but needs more consistency. He’s the next man up if Dean is unavailable.
**Tykee Smith & Jacob Parrish (Nickel/Slot):** Smith is the favorite for the nickel spot, with Parrish providing competition due to his speed and playmaking.
**Antoine Winfield Jr. (FS) & Christian Izien (SS):** Both safeties offer versatility and playmaking, with **Winfield** being the key lepicks? We could use another playmaker here still.
Overall Outlook:
If **Jamel Dean** stays healthy, the Bucs have a strong secondary with **Morrison** as a solid CB2. If Dean is injured, **Morrison** and **McCollum** will need to step up. The team has good depth in **Smith** and **Parrish** for the slot and safety, offering flexibility to match up with different offenses.

2 CBs in a row… love it!
What we need!
April 25th, 2025 at 10:36 pm
I can’t make sense of this draft
April 25th, 2025 at 10:37 pm
We have Dean-McCollum-Morrison-Hall at outside corner
Winfield-Tykee at safety,
Parrish-Izien at nickel.
That’s eight DBs, so guys like Kindle Vildor, Josh Hayes, Kaevon Merriweather are suddenly battling for a last spot or two on the 53.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:37 pm
Looking good. Two ball hawks. Now some depth at ILB!!
April 25th, 2025 at 10:37 pm
Josh, I think Tykee is the Starter at SS. With Izien backing him up.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:37 pm
Izien will be the back up Slot/SS depending on injuries.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:39 pm
Parrish is your SLCB, Smith is your Safety.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:39 pm
So he will take over for Tykee in the nickelback spot, perfect, sounds good for that.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:39 pm
All good but really wished we’d gotten some beef on the D Line.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Looks we’re planning on moving Tykee Smith to Safety and Parrish will be our new slot corner.
I guess that’s the plan since we have no other stud Safety as on now to pay next to Winfield.
I was going for the best Safety available with one of today’s picks, but ok at least our CB room is looking solid now
April 25th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Tykee Smith starts at Strong Safety
Jacob Parrish will compete with Izien for starting Nickle CB spot.
Benjamin Morrison will compete with Bryce Hall for primary outside CB backup spot – and likely replace Dean next year opposite McCollum…..
April 25th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Great pick. Set at CB now, did need 2 with Smith moving to S.
Secondary good to go
April 25th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
say what? why?
April 25th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Josh, Zyon is our cb1 not Dean
April 25th, 2025 at 10:41 pm
Typos… I like that this guy is a burner 🔥
April 25th, 2025 at 10:41 pm
Starting safeties: Winfield & Tykee Smith
Starting corners: McCollum & whoever wins the Dean/Morrison battle
Nickle/Slot: Parrish
IZIEN will be the backup for both the slot position and either starting safety position….
MERRIWEATHER is the 4th safety
Wow, they have really developed their secondary now…..
Much better depth here!!
April 25th, 2025 at 10:42 pm
Thanks Josh I think I will wait for Bucs thought’s on the depth chart.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:43 pm
4th…..LB
April 25th, 2025 at 10:44 pm
They also have Brice Hall as a backup corner too!!
So much deeper secondary!!
Dean may wind up being expendable…
April 25th, 2025 at 10:44 pm
This draft seems full of hope. Hope his hip heals. Hope Dennis is healthy. Hope Braswell and Diaby can step up.
April 25th, 2025 at 10:44 pm
This draft deep on D-line beef.
Tomorrow
April 25th, 2025 at 10:47 pm
Wish we had drafted Xavier Watts in that spot.
I would not trust Tykee Smith just yet at Safety.
I doubt Watts is still there when we pick again.
But if so I’d go that direction, or LB.
LFG!!!
April 25th, 2025 at 10:48 pm
I was just throwing it out there—THAT we shouldn’t have any more 3rd and Funderburked… No clue what the depth chart will be all speculation for FUN…
April 25th, 2025 at 10:49 pm
“Todd Bowles said he wants ballhawks and competition at cornerback, and now he’s really got the latter. Parrish has four picks last season and one last year.”
To clarify, Parrish had 1 interception last season.
Joes – I understand you have a duty to prop up the Buc’s decision makers, but c’mon, is that what constitutes a ballhawk?
April 25th, 2025 at 10:51 pm
Chances are he has good character
April 25th, 2025 at 10:57 pm
For the brilliance of last nights pick, tonight is concerning. Yes, defensive backfield is necessary but Morrison has been oft injured and if we get no pass rush, it doesnt matter if we have 5 Ronde Barbers in the secondary. We need defensive line and linebackers. Gonna be interesting
April 25th, 2025 at 11:01 pm
WillieG and IrishTony…both. Yup!
We have children at the wheel…of the “draft”.
April 25th, 2025 at 11:05 pm
Damn dirty birds have taken two great Edge rushers and now got Xavier Watts
April 25th, 2025 at 11:10 pm
Nobody cares what you have to say Jeff we all you are just habitual whiner.
April 25th, 2025 at 11:24 pm
They did announce his pick as “DB” instead of “Cornerback”..
April 25th, 2025 at 11:29 pm
Nice!
What did I say?
Grab 2-3 corners!
I would still grab another 4.3 CB in the 7th.
April 25th, 2025 at 11:57 pm
I would think tomorrow they will look to draft LB and edge rusher. Pretty set at CB now.
April 26th, 2025 at 12:06 am
Josh you’re an idiot if you think Zion is not a starter for this team.
April 26th, 2025 at 12:12 am
Todd will rotate him as a spell for Vita and Braswell, while they work on their pass coverage capabilities.
April 26th, 2025 at 12:18 am
If Dean were healthy, he’d beat out McCollum—just like he did last year. So with this draft, *if*—and it’s a big *IF*—he’s healthy, McCollum’s looking like the backup to Morrison.
For everyone acting like Dean is trash: come on, let’s be real—Will he ever be the exact same after the injuries? Maybe not. He won The Bucs a Super Bowl though don’t act like he’s some scrub. If hes still not healthy then that’s the case, sure, he’s the backup. But honestly, if he’s healthy and still ends up as the backup, that’s a win/win. That means we’ve got real depth at corner.
Not even a Dean fan here honestly—I just want the best guys on the field. And when he’s healthy? He’s a good/solid corner. The keyword is *when*.
April 26th, 2025 at 1:53 am
Keep Dean. You’re paying him peanuts compared to the market for cbs. Besides we need the depth.
April 26th, 2025 at 4:01 am
McCollom is not riding the bench behind anybody. Some of you are showing a low football IQ.
April 26th, 2025 at 4:09 am
Both new cbs seem pretty good and certainly Jason and Todd did their due diligence of vetting on both of their injuries before drafting them. We needed cbs and the Bucs have a plan. Looking forward to the season. Go Bucs!
Won’t lie, I am disappointed that the Cowboys got Donovan Ezeiruaku, nonetheless we will see what today brings.
