Jordan Schultz: Jordan Whitehead Is Done For The Season

November 25th, 2024

Season over.

When Bucs safety Jordan Whitehead grabbed his chest after attempting a tackle yesterday and then ran straight off the field, Joe figured it was probably a pec injury or perhaps a separated shoulder.

In one of the quickest injury updates Joe ever received, the Bucs immediately declared Whitehead out for the game with a pec injury.

Pec injuries are rarely minor and Joe expected the worst news today. And that came from FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz. He twittered that tests confirmed Whitehead’s injury and he’s done for 2024.

There’s not much else for Joe to add other than any injury to a starter this time of the year is a very bad thing. Joe guesses it’s a good thing the Bucs did pick up Mike Edwards last week.

Licht with the foreshadowing is crazy

  2. Cobraboy Says:

I remember that a torn pec sidelined Donnie Abraham. He was great, but never came back with the same juice.

  3. Leopold Stotch Says:

It’s a shame, I really was excited for Winfield and Whitehead to get back at it. The addition of Edwards seemed to be icing on the cake… That being said, Whitehead doesn’t appear to be the same haednosed thumper that we remember him to be. Idk what happened in NY, but I have been a little disappointed. Tough way to end the season, he seemed to be in a lot of pain. Prayers of course, hopefully he can come back next year, and be that guy we remember him to be.

I’ve said this last month, but……

    THE SEASON IS OVER!!!!!

    TOO MANY INJURIES!!!!!

…….infact, I really cannot remember another Bucs season where they’ve had this many team impacting INJURIES

…..maybe 10+ years the Bucs did

Shame really, cause we were all hopeful for this season

  5. CyberDilemma Says:

When the Bucs waived Merriweather and Isaac to make room for Dean and Hill they were both picked up on active rosters by other teams. This makes the Bucs paper thin on that back end again if some one goes down.

  6. Shake&Baker Says:

Hey Anthem, gtfo! Bucs won 30-7 yesterday. Sure you don’t know but Whitefield has player great this season and the Bucs now have Edwards who may in fact be an upgrade over a declining Whitehead!

  7. Bucsfan Says:

Marcus banks is a hard hitter at Safety and ready to play.

  8. Shake&Baker Says:

    Has not

  9. Upstate NY BUC Says:

No big loss, was there yesterday no juice before the injury!!!! Seems like he has lost a step or two. No need to resign him!!! I think he was injured going into yesterdays game. Go Bucs

  10. Marky Mark Says:

    How much did Edwards cost?

  11. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I would think Tykee Smith would replace whitehead. Tykee definitely has shown the skills to be a starter.

  12. adam from ny Says:

it’s like he was all thumped out…no longer that thumper you crave to have as part of your defense…still was decent, but no longer a heat seeking missile…

hopefully he makes a full recovery and doesn’t eat boston market for thanksgiving

  13. Hunter Says:

Mike Edwards didn’t look awful yesterday and Whitehead has had a tough season, but this hurts

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Whitehead wasn’t that effective this year

  15. A Bucs Fan Says:

Whitehead hasn’t played his best season regardless of the hype of him returning. Don’t like to see the injury. Bucs will be ok with Izien as the back up. Banks is the next man up since Merriweather was cut then signed/poached by the Detroit Lions. They just need Tykee Smith to get healthy again.

  16. Bobby Says:

Another injury that keeps another needed starter out of games. This season’s injury bug has just been horrible!! I know Bucs won yesterday. But if the stunbles into 7-8 wins. It’s not enough for me. I think Bowles, his staff, Licht and entire Bucs management should seriously be evaluated and deservedly criticized for this season’s extremely disappointing performances. The Bucs were supposed to improve snd go deeper into playoffs this season. Evans isn’t getting any healthier and younger, David is in his final season or maybe next year is his final. But those are crucial pieces of this roster that are going to be headed out the door in coming seasons. Our window to compete for another championship is now and next season. JTS is not s stud, Logan Hall not stud. Bucs didn’t address vital positions in the off-season and didn’t make any moves st the deadline. Bowles still makes poor in game decisions during crucial late moments in games. How long has he been coaching in football? Hope the Bucs winning ways continue. Hope Im wrong about all this. Go Bucs!

“ I remember that a torn pec sidelined Donnie Abraham. He was great, but never came back with the same juice”

You’re thinking of Brian Kelly. Abraham never had that injury here.

  18. Joseph C Simmons Says:

As soon as the play was over I knew he was out for the year.

I hate to say it, but he’s probably done as an effective starter. I said this in a comment in the preseason: he’s a little guy who spent the early part of his career hitting with a whallop. Those guys’ bodies tend to break down quickly. Recall Bob Sanders of the Colts. Same thing.

  19. RJBucnut Says:

I was all for bringing Whitehead back this year but to say he’s had a disappointing season is an understatement. He had one good game this year !

  20. NJbucs23 Says:

Jordan is just not the same player he was for us before. I see why the Jets let him go. I was a huge fan of JW, but his game has definitely regressed.

  21. Todd Says:

Jordan’s great. Injuries happen. He left it all on the field. We’ll be fine.

  22. orlbucfan Says:

Damn! Whitehead was one of my favorite players from the time the Bucs drafted him. Glad Mike Edwards is back, and my man Izien played very well yesterday. I’m still torn up over CG14. I hope he does not retire when he finishes healing. Two dirty hits by two dirty teams have sidelined him twice, right when he played into being awarded a huge contract increase which he deserved. At least Whitehead’s pec injury wasn’t due to dirty play. I had that same thought about Donnie Abraham not having a pec injury, too.

  23. Bucsfan81 Says:

Love Whitehead but man was he making some business decisions in some of the games this year. He never really looked like he did during the Brady years to me. Hopefully we have no more serious injuries going forward this is crazy how many starters have been hurt this year.

  24. Dave Pear Says:

The reason Whitehead and everyone else on the Bucs defense has regressed is obvious, like a bug with hair on it in a bowl of ice cream.

  25. snookman9 Says:

honestly………its not the end of the world but it still hurts.

  26. Kenton Smith Says:

Hope the rookie (Tykee Smiths) knee injury isn’t serious. We need him.

  27. Jerseybuc Says:

Sad to say but he has really not been the same player since he left. Next man up, the secondary has been our Achilles heel all year, but all is not lost. The negativity is amazing here. Do you guys not remember 83-96 Bucs? It’s almost December and we will be favorites to win 4 of next 5 games.

  28. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

He was done as soon as he suited up. Has done nothing this season big disappointment

  29. ThatAintRight! Says:

I’m not too mad tbh. He wasn’t exactly great for us this year anyways.

I don’t think it’s his fault so much it’s hard to be a secondary player and try covering someone on 3rd down when you don’t have consistent pass rushers in that front-7 harassing QBs.

YaYa is nice , but we need another and Kj Britt a huge weakness also in that secondary on passing downs. Have to fix 3 LB position in the next what two years. It’s not an easy task.

Chris Braswell was supposed to be one of them. No luck as of yet. Joe Tryon was also supposed to be one of them, no luck. Devin White was supposed to be a threat at ILB , he screwed up also. If these other guys would have performed and these injuries never occurred they’d be in another SB.

Well you know what guys Bucs are still not too far away from SB contention, but we will have to fix that defense if we’re going to go back!

    ——-

Happened during the infamous Colts MNF game year after the Super Bowl. We were shutting them down until Kelly got hurt. Then Manning picked on his replacement and we end up losing the game. Still have horrible memories of it from being there watching things go south all of a sudden.

  31. Henry Says:

Pfffftttt, he was a sandbagging clockbeater anyway. Addition by subtraction.

  32. Bucamania Says:

    Edwards will be better

  33. Itzok Says:

hes done nothing all season. he wont be missed

  34. unbelievable Says:

Sucks to lose him but he’s also been a shell of his former self, unfortunately.

But even more unfortunate is now Todd Bowles will say he has no choice but to run his cover no one soft zone, because that’s all he does whenever a starter goes down. Not sure what the point of backups are if they can’t play your scheme, but that’s just how Bowles rolls.
