Todd Bowles Says Calijah Kancey And Luke Goedeke Will Play; Graham Barton Will Not

October 11th, 2024

Out.

Some injury updates came today from Todd Bowles. More to come later.

Defensive tackle Calijah Kancey will play Sunday, his first appearance this season after a preseason calf injury.

Center Graham Barton will miss the game in New Orleans with a hamstring injury. He hasn’t practiced this week.

Bowles said Trey Palmer will not play (concussion) and Luke Goedeke passed tests for his concussion situation and is expected to play.

Antoine Winfield, per Bowles, will be a gametime decision along with Rachaad White. His replacement, Christian Izien (elbow/groin), is out.

Great news on Goedeke. Figures though as soon as he steps back in, our staring C is out. Seems some of these units never actually get to play together.

Fingers crossed Kancey doesn’t pull a calf muscle running out of the tunnel and miss another 5 weeks.

  2. gofortheface30 Says:

We finally, FINALLY have Goedeke back so OF COURSE it only makes sense that another starter gets hurt because its apparently written in the NFL bylaws that no one can have their 5 starting offensive lineman anymore these days for any extended period of time. I am quite sure that people will regurgitate tired, stupid cliches like “next man up,” and “this is the NFL, people get hurt” garbage but I dont think its a lot to ask to have your starters to play for more than a game. This is the drawback of current gen athletes being a little bigger/faster/stronger, along with the fact that people dont hit any more in practice – more injuries and players less willing to play through injuries. The irony is that the NFL realizes the product is much worse when starters are out with all of these preventative measures to mitigate injuries and yet, injury rate across the league has never been higher

  3. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Let’s go Bob!

Watch the edge rushers dear with Kancey’s return

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

    FEAST*

  5. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

gofortheface, maybe go for the facts? The Bucs O Line has been one of the healthiest in the league the past 3 years and the injury rate across the league has DEFINITELY been higher. You remind me of a certain politician that just says things and people assume its true.

  6. adam from ny Says:

cam jordan no longer licking his chops

  7. Lt. Dan Says:

I wouldn’t mind White sitting at all. Time to see what the tandem of Bucky and Tucker can do. (Buck&Tuck)

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

I fully expect Cam Jordan or another lowlife Saints player to club Goedeke in the side of the head, Deacon Jones-style.

  9. GoneGator Says:

Barton being out could really screw up continuity of the interior line which could be a setback to the run game and the protections. Bummed about that.

Great to hear Kancey will be back but like many others I wonder how long he’ll last before he’s out again.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Per yesterday’s Injury Report … ‘On Thursday, running back Rachaad White (foot), receiver Trey Palmer (concussion), receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle), defensive back Christian Izien (elbow/groin), center Graham Barton (hamstring) and defensive lineman William Gholston (knee) did not participate in practice at Tulane University.’

Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see both Izien & Gholston miss the game (Izien’s been dealing with double whammy injuries), assuming that Winfield & Kancey both make it back. New Orleans’ injury list is just as long as ours, but theirs is mostly on the offensive side of the ball.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

GoneGator … Robert Hainsey will be super-hungry to show that HE BELONGS (and is starter material). This is a contract year for him after all. Got a hunch that he’ll surprise some people.

  12. Hodad Says:

That’s why we kept Hainsey as our highest paid backup Olinemen. I hope Luke swallows his pride, and wears the extra padded helmit. Might look funny, but it’s better then being knocked funny.

  13. Buc4evr Says:

Godeke needs to wear the protective helmet no matter what anyone says. I know Jordan will make fun of him and take shots at his head but Luke needs to protect himself and his future.

Oh fighting schianos, looks like ol 45 is living in your head rent free. Time for you to get your 25th booster shot! This time to treat your TDS. You see, real men dont vote for identity politics. Pragmatic, big picture thinking men dont cry about victimhood – they make stuff happen and vote for strong policy, economy, less crime. I am 95% sure that you’re filled with all kinds of white guilt and that your wife beats you

  15. unbelievable Says:

@DR – I believe Izien was already ruled out too. And Whitehead and Winfield are both game time decisions… Who else do we even have to play safety besides Tykee Smith?

@gofortheface – that was a whole lot of words to tell everyone you’re simply clueless and have never met a single fact in your life. Barton started all 5 games this year, injuries happen. Enjoy your cult.

I just spit my Bourbon out. Thank you for that, Hearty Dikerson.

  17. Lt. Dan Says:

Rachaad White now doubtful. looks like Buck&Tuck. LOVE. IT!

  18. Beeej Says:

One thing about Luke being out, Justin Skule has turned into a very nice tackle

  19. BucsFan81 Says:

Like 8 or 9 of the 22 starters are out. Good thing advent health sponsors them. Team is constantly injured.

  20. Mike Says:

Entire Bucs O-Line should wear the extra protective helmet covers in solidarity with Luke.

  21. Kidfloflo Says:

Its gonna take Kancey at least 3 games to get up to full speed…dont.expect much sunday…Winfield as well

I had almost forgotten what an idiot blowhard you are – SMH
IRL probably what we used to refer to as a “punk”, before punk rock existed 🤣

    🤞🏼This doesn’t get deleted

  23. Jeff Says:

So happy Tiny Dancer decided to play with the team.

  24. Tiff, Okla,Bake, Bucs 4 life Says:

Soo kool, Goedke, kancy back, and bowles said he was comfortable with Whitehead playing rite now n thought Winfield wld b in 4 sure nxt week IF not this week n he was really hooing he is in THIS week!! Yea yea yay!!!!! Go Bucs

  25. Tiff, Okla,Bake, Bucs 4 life Says:

N i am hoping Hainsey does okay til Barton comes back nxt week; hoping we get his good play version of Hainsey, not the muffed snaps guy

  26. Biff Barker Says:

I’d like to see more of Tucker as well. Irving is still in my doghouse.

  27. Josh Says:

    Antonio Grier Jr….

  28. Larrd Says:

Barton seemed to struggle last week. A week off to watch and regroup might be a good thing in a way. Hainsey is survivable.

  29. ThatAintRight!! Says:

Gofortheface haha you’re so right man. These teams are never at 100%. Lmao

Scrambling to find fill ins for Pennie’s on the dollar at the last second. Some random guy in a gym at the local YMCA dawg. Hahahaha

Here’s $20 and a bag of chips guy can you start? Cool thanks for that. Hahahaha

Man idk this is crazy to be out (5) weeks for a concussion. Who does that? It’s being treated as if it’s Covid almost. Like wtf is happening lmao

Whatever idc but if Im a fan i am paying to see my team be at 100%
I get injuries happen but like how can’t you keep these guys in tip top condition year round? That’s what depth is for. Maybe they need a G league for the NFL.

Maybe they need to expand the league and get more stadiums and franchises going. Maybe they need to get rid of that stupid college rule where it states that players must have played 3 years or whatever it even is anymore these days. Get players prepared for the NFL earlier than anticipated so you always have fill ins who are skilled and actually talented. Not Joe smoe from the local YMCA. Lol

  30. BucVoyager Says:

Buck and Tuck. Time to shine fellas

  31. SenileSenior Says:

Won’t be surprised if Kancey takes longer to get up to speed than Winfield. Antoine is already a consummate pro.

Go Bucs! Slice up the slimy Saints!

  32. Pewter Power Says:

Graham Barton Not playing will probably reveal the center wasn’t the run game issue and should have addressed the defensive line or edge rush but too late to complain about that now

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Finally, we’re starting to get some of the walking wounded back. At least, Buc Luck is hitting early in the season. Feeling optimistic about this one. I did not feel optimistic last week. Bucs owe our storm ridden area a morale booster anyway. Go Bucs!!
