Report: Eagles Shopping Haason Reddick

March 10th, 2024

Available.

Now this isn’t really news. It’s clear Howie Roseman is trying to unload stud edge rusher Haason Reddick.

It’s becoming more and more clear that Reddick can be had by the Bucs, if Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht wants him.

On Saturday, the Eagles re-signed defensive end Brandon Graham. So he’s not going anywhere. Additionally, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports Roseman and the Eagles are hot and heavy for Jets free agent defensive end Bryce Huff.

Well, as much as Joe thinks of Reddick, if the Eagles re-signed Graham and want to pour cash into another defensive end in free agency like Huff, that means Roseman really, really wants to trade out Josh Sweat and/or Reddick.

And Russini said Roseman is shopping both.

Reddick is in the final year of his contract. So Joe believes Reddick can be had at a discount. In the past four seasons, Reddick has had no less than 11 sacks a year.

Right now the Bucs are banking on second-year edge rusher YaYa Diaby (7.5 sacks in 2023) and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka as their pass rushers.

That’s a whole lotta hope there.

  1. Buccos Says:

Please God. I would take a 40 year old JPP over JTS

  2. Pickgrin Says:

    Eagles probably want a 2nd or at least a 3rd rd pick….

So a high draft pick + his $14.25M base salary for a 1 year rental?

    Fughetaboutit!

Bucs are still paying $26M the next 2 years for Shaq Barrett and another $16.5M for Ryan Jensen.

Plus pushing at least another $40M into the future just to get all our own major free agents signed and stay under the cap….

  3. 1#bucsfan Says:

Gotta do something bout the pass rush tho. Yaya did great for a rookie but cooled way off towards the end of the year. JTS who ? A elite pass rusher would put this defense at the top along with a safety to pair with AW31. Both years we won SB our defense lived in the back field and there are plenty other defenses that won SB with great defenses.

  4. dmatt Says:

Both Bucs Super Bowl wins were due to great defense. I still say the Bucs should’ve played the Titans in the 2000 SB but we were robbed on a busted call by the refs. That defense got us to the nfc conference game. During our SB wins, we brought in veteran FA to elevate us to elite status. Let’s do the same n bring in Reddick n be done with three year bust JTS.

  5. Mac Says:

Agree finding a top shelf D end is crucial this offseason. A trade for either I would surely welcome. But on a 1 year rental it has to be a 4th rounder or less.

  6. ^^mtn^^ Says:

    Agree Pickgrin.

Buccos, no doubt JTS has been a disappointment. Still, you’d like to give him another year just in case.

Try to sign van Ginkle and spend a day 1 or 2 pick on a rusher & see how that gets you thru the season

    ^^mtnbucman^^
    Since ’76

  7. dmatt Says:

I agree with Buccos, I’d take a 40 yr old JPP over JTS any day. Heck, I seriously believe a 50 yr old Simeon Rice would make a bigger impact than JTS. JTS is just not mentally or physically prepared to play on the nfl level. After 3 years in the league, potential don’t count.

  8. Tony Says:

Any of the fans could probably outplay Tryon.

  9. SB Says:

I wish the Smoke smelled as good down there as it does in Montana!
The ‘Smoke’ they promote this time of year is Toxic.
Kinda “buyer be ware ” Kinda thing?…….

  10. All_da_way Says:

Lots of edge rushers are on the trade block. Mack and Bosa are being dangled by the Chargers.

Even Sweat along with Reddick are being dangled out there.

  11. Onetrickpony Says:

JTS is a fraud, my grandmother would be better than him

  12. Defense Rules Says:

Excellent analysis Pickgrin; spot on. Bucs will have roughly one-third of our salary CAP in ‘sunk costs’ (Shaq, Jensen & dead CAP) by the time we’re through restructuring contracts. This is actually the 2nd year of our restructuring IMO. We’ll hopefully stay competitive, but it’s hard to envision us setting the world on fire.

As badly as we need to improve our pass rush, hard also to see us spending big bucks on a premier FA DE/OLB like Reddick. Besides, I’m not convinced that he’d do as well in Bowles’ defense as he did in Philly’s. Reddick (6’1″ & 240 lbs) is actually smaller than Shaq (6’2″ & 250 lbs) who he’d be replacing. Guys like that seem to excel at taking advantage of opportunities created by other members of their DLine (like Shaq had his best year by far when playing with Vea & Suh & JPP?).

Bucs DLine right now isn’t as beastly IMO as it was back then (and not as beastly as Philly’s was last year). And I think that Bowles is so focused on stopping the run above all else that it impacts the pass rush pressure that our DLine can apply. Almost impossible to say though if a ‘happy medium’ actually exists.

Buyer beware! Getting rid of one or two and going after another?

  14. HC Grover Says:

Get him and get rid of Plan 9

  15. dmatt Says:

    Onetrickpony,

I gotcha, a fraud is actually a zero trick pony🤔
I’m sure grandma would known to catch an easy int thrown to her by a soft underhand toss vs swatting the ball to the ground, then realizing it could’ve been an easy pick six. IMO, that play was blooper of the year 2022 Bengals game. Joe Burrorws was like…wtf! JTS just does’t get it mentally.

  16. Defense Rules Says:

Everyone knew that JTS was a project when we drafted him in 2021. Hadn’t played the entire year before that & was young to boot. Not a big fan on gambling on ‘projects’ in the 1st Round. Or on guys with a history of injuries in college.

  17. Hodad Says:

Licht needs to find the next Shaq. Get a guy on a prove it deal, and hope he takes off. Think at #26 there won’t be any elite edge rushers left. It’s not a deep class like receiver, even QB.

  18. Marine in retirement 77 Says:

If you sign back or you can just about forget any and all free agent additions to this team. Sign Russell Wilson, who statistics are almost identical with Baker last year to compete with Trask and now you have all kinds of money to be able to do some amazing things with our team.

  19. Marine in retirement 77 Says:

    Baker Sorry

  20. Marine in retirement 77 Says:

    Baker sorry

  21. Jeffs grandpa Says:

Funny guy any fan could out play him that’s pretty disrespectful

  22. Boss Says:

JTS is in a contract year and will light it up.

  23. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

This team cannot afford any free agents rite now, not until this teams MVQB is signed from last year. Most teams prioritize their MVQB from the year before. Especially probowl and playoff winning MVQB. It just makes smart businnes sense to keep young quality players. It appears the bucs missed that alll impotant memo this year. Come on man.

  25. Beeej Says:

    hmm.

cough cough trade cd3 cough cough

  26. adam from ny Says:

oh no, jason really has to bring in one proven veteran pass rusher, that everyone feels can grab you double digit sacks…too many question marks with diaby at this point…and joe sho is probably playing himself right out of tampa if he keeps up this production…

so one seriously established edge, plus one in the draft towards the front end of our picks is the way to go…

then you add in an affordable sleeper type who you can assume gives you 4-5 sacks…like the type a great gm like licht literally pulls out of his hat, and looks like a genius at the end of the year for signing out of the blue…

work is needed on the sack front for sure

  27. adam from ny Says:

i wish one of our regs on here would create a nice short list of top dawg pass rushers who we can potentially fill the shaq or jpp role…

i doubt there are 10 quality dudes available…but i’m pretty sure there are 5-8 pieces out there that would be a solid addition

  28. adam from ny Says:

yeah it’s almost like you want to trade cd3 for cap reasons, and maybe even circle back to SMB if he’s available…
(not sure if he signed more than a one year deal with tenn)

i really don’t think you can go into the season with zion as your 2nd corner – just yet

  29. adam from ny Says:

    @Boss:

so jts has been taking it light for his entire time in the nfl, and this year he goes next level, as if he had it in his back pocket the entire time ?

i highly doubt that – but would certainly welcome it

  30. Conner50 Says:

Get Reddick or Greenard then sign Calais Campbell he’s old but still can be a leader and produce, would be great for Hall to learn from him and Vea

  31. Bobby Says:

Come on Jason Licht, go get Reddick.

Most teams have language written in the contract that offsets Shag’s money if he signs for another team Ala Russ Wilson.

Great for him as he can go up the road to Miami or Jax and still be close to Home. Canales might scoop him up to add depth to the Defense that is still pretty good.

If the Bucs do go out and get him they already know how much they are prepared to pay per roster spot and hopefully they sign David 1st. Although I think he signs with Miami I wouldn’t put it past seeing LaVonte in Powder Blue either.

    No no no no

  34. sasquatch Says:

As I said before, this is fantasy football. Giving up draft picks for a player with a fat cap hit just isn’t Jason Licht’s MO… And based on his statements, after signing their own, they’re looking for bargains. Reddick isn’t a bargain.

  35. sasquatch Says:

when will this permanent moderation nonsense end?

  36. Dubcity Says:

Darius Robinson from the Mizzou is a problem. Watch some of his tape yall, that man is a beast

  37. Canabuc Says:

I say trade Davis and a 6th for him
