A.J. Brown Ruled Out

January 13th, 2024

Out.

The sorry Bucs pass defense got a littte help this morning. Star Philadelphia receiver A.J. Brown was ruled out for Monday night’s playoff game with the Bucs. This comes from Uber-NFL insider Adam Schefter of BSPN.

Brown suffered a sprained knee Sunday in the Eagles’ regular season finale loss to the Giants. Yesterday it seemed Brown would be able to return.

Brown apparently took the news hard as he scrubbed his Instagram account of anything Eagles-related.

Monday will be Brown’s first game missed since getting traded to the Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft.

Certainly can’t hurt…..our defense is healthy and will probably have to win this game for us.

  2. Zzbucs Says:

CDIII will be dancing like a Gypsy…..

    Very good news!!

  3. Usedtocould Says:

Man oh man, baker is going to cook

  4. realistic-optimistic Says:

He was 50% of PHI’s passing game last time we played. He had 131 of Hurts’ 277 passing. Big loss for them.

  5. PassingThru Says:

Phili is on the ropes. Losing AJ Brown is a big loss.

Phili is very vulnerable on defense. Their LBs have limited range and their CBs have degraded this season. Phili used to have an excellent pass rush, but that has disappeared as well. They looked like a top 3 team prior to this season, now they look like a one-and-done playoff team.

If Mayfield has a half-way decent game, Phili is toast.

  6. HC Grover Says:

Good. We should be able to keep it close.

  7. Joe in Michigan Says:

I’m more concerned about Philly’s D-Line, honestly. If the Bucs O-Line plays well, I think they’ll win.

  8. Steven007 Says:

And said above, the certainly doesn’t hurt. Though this further emphasizes how much they’re going to try to run the ball. So I think at this point the game will likely come down to whether or not we can stop their running game and force their hampered quarterback to win the game by passing minus his best receiver. Can we do it? Certainly. Will we? Who the f knows…

  9. Ron Potter Says:

Agree with Steve. If our defense can’t stop the run, it will be a long sad game.

  10. mg Says:

    Go Bucs.

  11. D Cone Says:

Sirriani is an Offensive guy and will make adjustments to offset the loss of Brown. Hurts and or Mariotta are equally qualified to run the ball and both might be used Monday Night.

Philly defense is still the Philly defense and my only concern is at QB. It’ s like a house of sticks that survived the winds of 17 weeks, is beaten up, and will not survive the first storm surge and get washed away.

    “ I’m more concerned about Philly’s D-Line, honestly.”

Not to worry. Canales has a creative game plan for that…running White behind our left guard and tackle on 1st and 2nd downs! They won’t see it coming!

    Oh…wait.

  13. David Says:

It is all about stopping the run and containing HURTS on defense.
On offense, it is all about passing… A lot.

  14. PanhandleBuc Says:

Big loss and huge gain for us, but what do we do with a depleted Eagles team and fairly full strength Bucs squad…AT HOME?!?!

  15. Kgh4life Says:

There’s no excuse for Bowles not to send the kitchen sink after Hurts. He’s proven that he can’t handle the blitz.

  16. Thundersack Says:

Why would he scrub his social media account of anything Eagles related? As a tantrum for not being able/allowed to play?

The way some of these athletes use social media as a weapon is pretty childish and passive aggressive.

  17. dmatt Says:

    You are correct Thundersack,
    Spoiled brats.

  18. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

Things keep breaking in our favor and we still have days to go to see how Hurts is progressing (or not).

Their weaknesses are glaring. No Brown. Hurts’ sore finger on throwing hand. Weak secondary. Struggling running game.

Let’s see how our coaches attack these weaknesses. We need to come out fast, strong, physical and relentless. They roughed us up last time. Now it’s time for payback.

We need to confuse them with pre-snap motion, play action and sprinkle in no-huddle to keep them off balance.

No let-up. Break their will and rip out their hearts.

Or, just run it up the middle for a yard or two at a time. It’s up to the coaches. Let’s hope they make the right calll.

  19. Steven007 Says:

Glass half full, I concur. We absolutely must exploit their weaknesses. And if we don’t it’s coaching malpractice. And I think the owners may act accordingly. How about some pre-snap motion, and I’m not talking about the telegraph toss to Tomkins. But motion just to get the defense guessing. And then a response that makes sense. We shall see.

  20. darengibo Says:

Maybe we can use JTS flailing away at the QB to.our advantage.. just tell him to grab Hurts finger on his way past the QB.

  21. Angry Since Kickoff Says:

No excuses Coach Bowles. Wounded team coming in. Defense should lock them down or he’s on the next bus out of town.

  22. BucsFan81 Says:

No AJ Brown and Hurts has a hurt hand. On top of that Hurts is not very good when you blitz him. Hopefully Bowles sends lots of Blitzes. I expect the defense to be all over Hurts.

  23. Buckeyebuckchuck Says:

He quit on the team, pure and simple. Old boy has been a locker room cancer, feuding with the coaches. Very talented but there’s just something about being a “Brown” that doesn’t spell team.

  24. UKBuccaneer Says:

The Eagles offensive line is beastly. That’s where the game will be won or lost.

  25. DungyDance Says:

“How about some pre-snap motion, and I’m not talking about the telegraph toss to Tomkins.”

If I see that Tomkins toss behind the line with him running to the edge one more time I’m tearing my tv off the wall and heaving it out the window!

  26. NJbucs23 Says:

They’re bugging out up here in south jersey.

    Let go Bucs.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    lol@DungyDance.

  28. Tbbucs3 Says:

Absolutely 0 excuses for this team. Bowels needs to show he can make it out of the 1st round of the playoffs

  29. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

Look for Brown’s replacement to go 10 for 194.

  30. Since76 Says:

Great news considering the defence will have to win the game.

  31. billyboy Says:

BillyBoy is back! and if you think the bucs can beat the eagles you dont know much about football.. The bucs are my team but i know a better one when i see it they will run the ball on us all day and night.. and our offense can barely score a TD.. the only way to victory is int and fumbles.. which is a low bet..

  32. rickym Says:

Eagles removed a locker room cancer just in time for the playoffs. This may help them more than hurt them. I believe the BUcs will beat Philly on Monday night. Canales will have a game plan that will expolit the Eagle weakness which is the short passing game. I expect White will have a big game catching the ball out of the backfield and Philly will be exposed to the run due to their formations to control the short pass. This would be a huge win for the Bucs and I believe it could help win back a sceptical and often negative fan base.

  33. No Mercy Says:

If the defense can’t keep the eagles below 20 points with no AJ Brown and an injured Hurts, Todd Bowles should be fired immediately

  34. orlbucfan Says:

Well, this AJ Brown is throwing a hissyfit temper tantrum on social (gag) media? What an ego dumbazz! You see ME13 (HOF) pulling that crap? D and ST are pumped and ready. The question mark is Canales. He’s the Bucs weak link. That is why I laugh at the so-called clickbait “fans” on here.
