Todd Bowles: “Last Week, Things Got Out Of Hand In The Wrong Way.”

December 24th, 2023

Interesting comment from head coach Todd Bowles after today’s seal-clubbing of the Jaguars at The Licht House.

Bucs fans heard all the rumors, chatter and overall confusion surrounding linebacker Devin White before last Sunday’s game in Green Bay.

White practiced fully in the two sessions prior to the game but did not play because his ailing foot wasn’t healthy enough. At some point after the Friday, Dec. 13 practice (made very unclear by Bowles) White told Bowles he couldn’t play in the game. Reports, including from former Buccaneer Richard Sherman on FS1, said White chose not to play because the Bucs weren’t going to start him and let him play the entire game.

Bowles then gave confusing answers regarding the timeline and the decision, and White didn’t help with his explanation.

Today, White played like a ferocious beast and was all over the field.

Speaking passionately on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game, Bowles talked about how White is a great player and he added, “Last week, things got out of hand in the wrong way.”

What that means, Joe has no idea, but it sure was an intriguing choice of words by Bowles.

Was Bowles referring to the media? Was he referring to White? Was he referring to the Bucs’ collective bungling of the message?

Joe doesn’t care much about that now. The Tampa Bay defense looked sharp and the team is riding an impressive four-game winning streak.

If White needs some form of benching to play like a wild man, then Joe sure hopes White is told to sit in Week 18.

Much rather have a healthy and motivated White than fragile Carlton Davis next year

  4. BA’s Red Pen Says:

He got benched by the sickness and then balled out as well.

It is simple what it means. Bowles wants Devin on this team.

Anyone seen any updates on Winfield’s blue tent review for concussion???

    I pray he wasn’t concussed…

Snorted with laughter when DWhite had that first turnover. Bowles is doing his job, but I know DivaWhite got plenty of stink eye from us fans and certain teammates. Did Barrett have a decent game?

They Broafcasters mentioned that Winfield went in the Blue tent for a concussion

I knew the story would be altered once I saw White with the pick.

Bowles could not pass up that opportunity.

    Go Bucs!

  14. Keimosabe Says:

White has no concussion. Bowels said if they needed him he could of played but kept him out for precautionary reasons
