Rachaad White And The Pro Bowl

December 18th, 2023

Seriously productive season.

Is Joe impressed with Rachaad White as a runner? Eh, maybe. Is Joe impressed with White as a receiver? Absolutely. So much so that Joe is wondering if White ought to be in the Pro Bowl next month at Orlando?

Strong numbers suggest White needs to be awarded a Pro Bowl nod.

When it comes to total yards from scrimmage (run and pass), there is only one running back who has more than White. That would be Christian McCaffery, who is arguably a top-five offensive player in the NFL.

White had 139 yards from scrimmage yesterday (89 on the ground and 50 through the air). That gave White a total of 1,344 yards this season. Only McCaffrey’s 1,663 yards tops White.

Joe sure thinks that’s worthy of a Pro Bowl.

In his last seven games, White has seven touchdowns. In his last four games, White has had over 100 yards from scrimmage each game.

When the only running back more productive than you is considered one of the game’s greatest, yeah, Joe thinks a guy’s resume is Pro Bowl-worthy.

    Finally respect!
And in 2 of last 3 games he broke through and could have scored and had another 30 total yards rushing but played smart and sat down to ice the game.
Could have been near 900 yards rushing and 2 more TD.

Weekend live to see him hit 1600 yards 12 TD with 1000+ on the ground and close to 60 receptions.
Would put him in conversation as atop5 back in this league.

    @Not

Don’t know what games you’ve been watching but he seems to be getting better each week during this streak.

Joe, You’ve been blowing this guy up since camp … and for good reason. Nice to see him turning into a good player

  4. Bucfan1988 Says:

Yo, just seeing an article on the NFL site that Trevor Lawrence has entered concussion protocol ????? Ravens beat him up tonite…

    Holy cow!!!

  5. Tye Says:

Playing with the NFL playoff machine, most of the scenarios I put in puts the Cowboys coming to Tampa in the wildcard… Revenge game!

  6. Rod Munch Says:

If White doesn’t purposely go down at the end of the last 3 games, he’s over 100 yards in 4 games straight, with 3 more TDs and would be averaging well over 5-yards a carry – and the Joe that hates White is still pushing the idea he isn’t a NFL RB? Let it go. You were wrong, the Bucs didn’t need to waste yet another draft pick on a RB, they already had the right guy. All he needed was adequate blocking and some decent play calling and now he’s suddenly in the pro bowl conversation, if not the ALL-PRO conversation.

But still talking about him not being an NFL RB… it’s getting sad 🙁

You are correct, it is 2 of 3.

No idea why I was thinking it was the last 3, my mistake.

  8. Canabuc Says:

He is top 10 in rushing yards.
He is I believe top 2 or 3 in receiving yards.
    Definitely deserves it.

  9. Proudbucsfan Says:

Rod not only is he getting better blocks he himself is improving. He’s seeing holes better and he’s running with more intensity and power however I do see him go down on first contact about half his carries but he has improved greatly himself.

rb1 has slowly come on like a quiet storm…

i am just as guilty mid season, when the team was in a lull, of being down on him as a real time nfl rb…

but he’s proving himself big time to be the real deal…

he seems to have gotten tougher and more workhorse oriented…

it’s been quite a pleasant surprise to see him hit another gear as others are getting more worn down and tired…

it seems like that 60k he dumped into training and health is really paying off…

it’s great to get behind our rb1…dude is producing more and more as the season wears on

  11. Leighroy Says:

White is vastly improved from the start of the year, credit to him. But his stats and his play are immaterial to whether or not he gets to play in the year-end popularity contest.

He’s not getting in over CMC, Swift, either of the 2 Detroit RBs, Tony Pollard, and probably Saquon – unless injury or one of these guys is off to the superbowl. Only what, 3 of these guys get in?

  12. Wild Bill Says:

Not a power runner he does great if and when he gets past the line. He is also a dam good pass receiver.

  13. Nutterbuccer Says:

I gotta say. The oline has improved ever since stinnie started playing and so has Whites play. He also seems to always fall forward now, always gets that extra yard.

  14. orlbucfan Says:

Only back Bucs need to draft is a fullback (maybe). They have other needs. I always thought Rasheed had good hands catching. Man, has that hunch paid off!

  15. garro Says:

Joe I love to see any Buc player get much deserved accolades, White included.
But the Pro Bowl is now a huge bad Joke. When they turn it in to a big market popularity contest it means little to me. LVD left off all these years really turned me off to the whole thing.

All Pro ain’t far behind when they basically keep the voters names a secret.

“The AP claims that the selection panel is a national one, but some NFL media markets such as Detroit, a city that has had an NFL team since 1934, do not have a vote.”

NFL city media types only from what little I can glean but Detroit has no voters? That’s nuts!

We have an AP voter in Tampa? Who knows! “50 media members” Surely some of the 32 team city’s have two but, at least one has none! That smells quite a bit to me.

    Go Bucs!

    Go Bucs!

  16. Crickett Baker Says:

I always said R. White was my favorite draft pick and he hadn’t proved me smart until recently. I think the coaches finally put him in the right position to succeed. You may remember that I was also very high on K.J. Britt and I still think he will be better and better.
One thing no one seems to mention about Mayfield. Compare how many pass plays were called in this game vs the last game. You can’t get great QB stats if you don’t get pass plays called. I would MUCH rather have Baker than Jaimiss.

  17. teacherman777 Says:

The offensive line, the OC and the QB have improved week by week.

Rashad White has also improved week by week.

He deceptively fast because he is so big.

But the real thing that has improved is our offensive line.

Goedeke and Mauch are becoming the Bash Brothers in the right side.

    Stinnie looks like the Minotaur.

    He’s blocking well.

Hainsey has even improved this year. (But I still want an elite center next draft)

The offensive line is playing better Joe.

That’s why White is the second most productive RB in the NFL right now.

I bet he could catch up to McCaffrey these last 3 weeks.
