Chris Godwin’s Wife Tees Off On Todd Bowles

December 6th, 2023

Better half unloads on Bucs coach.

It appears Joe isn’t the only one fed up with the nonsense about Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin’s non-use.

Listeners to today’s “Ira Kaufman Podcast” and recent readers here know Joe has had it with the irresponsible use (or lack of usage) of one of the Bucs’ best players.

It might be different if the Bucs were racking up points like the Greatest Show on Turf. But they aren’t. They huff and puff and sweat for 20 points a game, even against the worst team in the league.

There is a reason this team is one loss from going into full-blown draft mode. And that is the lack of offense.

Once again today, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said that the team must find ways to get Godwin the ball. This has been a recurring theme yet the issue is seemingly never addressed or resolved.

Even Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales sighed and almost appeared frustrated behind his usual sunny demeanor when he said last week he must address Godwin’s lack of targets so often.

Well, Godwin’s wife Mariah took to her Instagram stories account and unloaded on Bowles claiming he is “blatantly lying” about Godwin’s lack of targets and usage.

In particular, Mariah Godwin, known to Bucs fans from her 2017 Hard Knocks appearances and her heart-warming Super Bowl postgame celebration with her husband, was outraged when Bowles said Monday that one reason Chris Godwin was only targeted three times against the Panthers was because the team was “subbing him out a lot” due to his injury.

However, snap counts show Godwin played 84 percent of the snaps against the Stinking Panthers.

“I’m not sure why we are just blatantly lying here,” Mariah Godwin wrote on Instagram. “Regardless of how banged up Chris is, he continues to work his ass off and hasn’t missed a game. [C]ontinues to run great routes and get open.

“I don’t know why things are the way they are, this isn’t my team to coach. But this lying on Chris and implying negativity on his work ethic is infuriating. Let’s not act like he had to be subbed out so much more than usual when in fact he’s been playing just the same.”

Mariah Godwin then posted her husband’s snap counts for each game this season and they are all pretty consistently in the mid- to upper-50s.

Then she used a screenshot of JoeBucsFan.com’s story from yesterday — where Joe wrote about Bowles’ comments on Godwin’s snap counts not meshing with reality.

“Infuriating,” Mariah Godwin typed. “Stop lying on Chris. Stop using the injuries (that he plays through!!!) as an excuse for whatever you have going on coaching wise.”

Then Mariah Godwin had yet another screenshot of Bowles’ reaction Monday to Godwin’s lack of targets and she typed, “No you weren’t. Stop lying on Chris.”

Well now, Joe has said for weeks this team had nearly zero buzz. Boy, the buzz is here now. A star player’s wife calling out the coach.

Godwin is a fixture in the Tampa Bay community. So given that Bowles is very unpopular among fans and the team is losing, and now a star player’s wife publicly calls out Bowles, well, here we go!

Mariah Godwin is no football novice. Her father was a coach at Middletown High School in Delaware where Chris Godwin played. So she has been around football all her life as she and Chris were dating in high school and when he played at Penn State.

Joe wonders how this is going over — along with the losing — at the highest office suite at One Buc Palace?

Joe has a hunch if Mariah Godwin is angry, so too is Chris Godwin. And if that is the case, he’s probably not the only guy peeved in the Bucs’ locker room.

They will throw everyone under the bus to protect precious Baker who has a history of locking in on a favorite receiver.

Not the first pro bowl talent he’s ever pissed off.

    Politics over winning.

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

This is a real bad look for Bowles and the organization. I can only imagine what the vibe is like among players and coaches if this kind of thing is happening. Disappointing because Godwin is a hell of a good football player

    Dumbest coaches in the league.

I’d rather have her as coach to be honest.

  4. beeej Says:

    Christmas party gonna be AWKward.

I’m in favor of Baker as qb, but I’m increasingly thinking this is the same thing that went on in Cleveland between him and OBJ—for whatever reason, he won’t throw the ball to him, despite him being wide-ass open

  7. westernbuc Says:

It doesn’t make sense. Feels likes he’s just being ignored. Godwin is too good not be involved more

  8. Josh Says:

I though the last game was to force feed Evans to get the 1K mark. Palmer was running outs that typically Godwin gets, not sure why.

  9. Bee Says:

It’s obvious Baker doesn’t go thru his progressions and kook for other WRs hence Evans having 162 yds if Bakers 202 yds last game.

Chris can thank one read Bake for this. And of course Bowles won’t hold anyone accountable, including himself.

  10. Tye Says:

TB should do the honorable thing and resign!….

  11. Gary Says:

    Mariah Godwin for Head Coach!!

  12. Duane in Sanford Says:

She confirmed everything most of us suspected about Todd Bowles- his words cannot be trusted. I wonder how much enjoyment he gets out of trolling and gaslighting the fan base.

  13. Greg Says:

Interesting as stated if Mrs. Godwin felt compelled to broadcast this Mr. Godwin is in on this. Is it as simple as BM’s inability to read through the progressions and locking in to one target?

  14. JCLV Says:

Beeej, where do you get your info? Baker targeted OBJ more than Lamar has.

  15. beeej Says:

I remember Godwin having ONE really good game this year, (100 yards+) was when ME13 went out hurt.

I ALSO remember Bucs braintrust saying Godwin wasn’t gonna be slot anymore, which is where he became famous. Man, he’s making $20 mil a year, not wrecking his body, he need to control his b!tch

    What a crappy season.

  17. HC Grover Says:

Bakefield was throwing to Evans only it is that simple.

  18. ATLBuc Says:

Why blame Bowles? He’s not throwing the ball!!

  19. ATLBuc Says:

Baker runs after his second progression. Most times after the first

  20. Mike S Says:

Bowles also lied about the QB competition.

    But we knew that already.

  21. Joe Says:

Why blame Bowles? He’s not throwing the ball!!

Pretty clear. She thinks Bowles is lying about Chris (and the evidence show that Bowles was being untruthful about her husband).

And if Bowles wanted Godwin targeted more — so Bowles has said several times publicly — he can order his offensive coordinator to correct things. He’s the head coach after all.

  22. SlyPirate Says:

    WHAT THIS TELLS US …

Godwin isn’t a malcontent. When a wife talks that means Chris is unhappy. If he’s unhappy, you know a lot of people are unhappy.

Canales doesn’t know how to coach. Bowles is telling lies. Bowles has lost the locker room.

Bowles has never had an OC last more than one season. He is cooked! Take Baker with you.

  25. A Bucs Fan Says:

The locker room has been lost! Just like in NY.

  26. TonySoprano Says:

“This has been a recurring theme yet the issue is seemingly never addressed or resolved.”

This is a perfect summation of Bowles tenure here.

In regard to this specific problem, I blame Baker for being a terrible QB that simply can’t find Gowin. I also blame Canales for being too dense to realize this and move Godwin back to the slot.

  27. Clitcommander Says:

I mean she’s right about him lying about Godwin’s usage, but I definitely didn’t see anything about him questioning Godwin’s work ethic? Maybe I Missed something?

Personally, I don’t think she posts that without Chris’ knowledge and approval.

Let’s see…she says, as a number of us have (the video tape and All 22 don’t lie), that Chris has been open a lot (he has), but he’s not getting the ball. Some of you seem to think the OC is at fault…despite the fact that he’s getting Evans and Godwin wide open fairly regularly, the rest of us know who’s to blame…the dude slinging the rock. For whatever reason, Mayfield isn’t throwing it to him, even when wide open. He’s regularly failing to go through progressions. More importantly, he’s failing to rule out progressions pre-snap to shorten his process. He’s basically play like crap. Then he turns around and has a drive or two where he makes some great throws, then reverts to crap Mayfield again. This is all on him. And to think Joe thinks the locker room would be pisses if they went to Trask. Are you really sure of that? Of course, I’m apparently a part of the Trask cult, as opposed to the Baker cult which is infinitely worse.

  34. Since76 Says:

I feel for Canales. Boss says run run pass. Oh and you have to keep Mayfield in. Then Mayfield can’t throw over the middle where Chris’s routes take him. So no targets for Chris open or not. This is a turning into a dumpster fire. Mrs. Godwin we know Chris is open and we know the balls just not being thrown to him. We also know why. Hang in there. Changes are coming.

  35. Leopold Stotch Says:

Oh boy. This is nooooooot good at all. Bowles needs to leave after this season at the absolute latest. This is ridiculous.

  36. Another J Says:

Todd has gotta go. Everyone with a working pair of eyes can see the offense runs better when you feed the ball to Evans, and Godwin.

  37. Nutterbuccer Says:

  38. BucsFan2520 Says:

Todd Blows defensive head coach just doesn’t hold the same standards for the defense for the offense. Chris is elite not a hall of famer but elite. For him to not be part of your game plan is negligence. I don’t care how they dress it up. 👗 Todd Blows hired a paid intern to coach a professional franchises offense. Would he hire a unknown coach who has zero experience calling plays to run his defense
Of course not. The team doesn’t listen to Todd Blows anymore and he knows it. He’s rich that’s why he’s always smiling underneath his mumnling veneer of sincerity. It’s always the same crap from him. Devins getting better he’s a pro, we gotta get Chris more involved, it’s a work in progress, just missed plays they have made a million times, offensively were improving,.defense need to do a better job. Shove it. Anybody seen Licht recently? He knows he has to fire Blows. Blows knows Blows is gone. GET CHRIS THE DAMN BALL

  47. David Says:

I am not shocked to hear that. Toilet Bowl lies as needed just as he lied to us before Jets game on the qb competition. He said he hadn’t chosen the starting qb. Trask will start follow by Baker. Guess what Baker didn’t play in that game while having fun on the side line while Trask had to go back in for the injured qb3.
All players news it was a scam qb competition designed by Toilet Bowl but he lied every week to the fans and the reporters.

  48. Tony Marks Says:

Oh please – get out the hankies

JOe and (for different reasons )all the Baker haters.

    A) she actually CONFIRMS that Godwin is banged up and NO she’s point blank WRONG. NOTHING with what Bowles said threw ANY shade on Godwin. IN fact it points positively to Godwin playing through an injury ( and a neck injury is especially bothersome to a receiver since he has to turn and locate the ball). I am not saying as fact but theres another possibility – any lying is to protect godwin. Coach’s evaluation of an injury and the player’s evaluation ( much less his wife’s) of how it affects his game are two different things.

    B) her take is it coaching which she says straight up but who the junk is she to call out coaching? So if its coming form Godwin then he’s pointing at the coaches not the QB. Don’t tell me Godwin is choosing to go after the man that calls the shots over another player if he thinks the problem is with the player. IF its not coming from Godwin then all you have is a wife that can’t stay in her lane.

    C) Media and fans created this environment where ME is favored over all else. It was all about getting him his numbers, keeping him happy enough to resign. He is almost single handedly why you all think DELUSIONALLY the Bucs are SB ready with another QB

and now Joes and fan base are crying in their hankies fro Godwin?

You are part of the problem – any QB or coaching staff that didn’t get ME his number this years would have been scorched harder than an 3-14 season. Whether its coaches , the QB or even Godwin himself – they all know considerations for ME is what controls this team . Can and could you both take care of ME and the rest of the receivers? Sure but when everyone knows who runs the team – you make sure FIRST he gets his box checked

My bet is you see the ball now moving around a whole lot more not because of complaints but because ME got his numbers now..

Let’s start with the coaching staff not Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is just doing what he is told and may not be the best QB ever and maybe he is quick on his reads but you can’t tell me the guy doesn’t want to win. If throwing it to Godwin every play means a win Mayfield would do it. This is on the coaches and mainly the Head Coach who speaks before he knows all the facts. He better walk this thing back real fast and take responsibility for misrepresenting the facts or this thing will be like trying to put lipstick on a pig if we are on the low end of the score come Sunday.

    @BucsFan2520

It’s not as much about the batted balls as it is Baker not being able to see the entire middle of the field over the linemen. It rarely works out for that very reason. I mean we aren’t comparing a guy that had led his team to an 8-3 record and is the franchise QB for the Jags to Baker right?

  57. Jack Clark Says:

Listen Mariah Godwin, if Chris Godwin is really running great routes and getting open then it’s Baker Mayfield’s fault for deciding not to throw him the football. If you’re going to get angry and blame someone, make sure you blame the right person. Todd Bowles doesn’t design or call our offensive plays and he doesn’t throw the football after the play starts. And Todd Bowles never implied anything negative about Chris Godwins work ethic, so stop lying on Todd Bowles. Todd Bowles has enough problems to deal with and doesn’t need you giving him any more by instigating drama between him and his players.

yeah it’s gotten so bad for CG i was honestly starting to wonder if there was some underlying rift between baker and him…

it’s weird because bowles likes to play it safe…and throwing to godwin the way brady did, is generally a heck of a lot of safe, small yardage, move the chains plays…

so really wtf is going on ?

  60. realistic-optimistic Says:

We have to ask; why is Bowles lying about Godwin’s snaps (among other things).

Does it make sense that he’s covering for Canales’ inability to scheme Godwin open? No, that makes no sense at all. How does this lie protect Canales?

Does it make sense that he’s covering for his swirling defense? No, that makes no sense at all. How does this lie protect his defense?

Does it make sense that he’s covering for his hand-picked QB missing reads and/or not throwing to Godwin? This one actually makes sense. After what went down in CLE with OBJ, there appears to be a pattern developing.

    Any other ideas?

Yet another issue that points to a POOR HEAD COACH. Good idea to keep him the rest of the year! What a joke. Todd Bowles was a good DC because Bruce Arians was over his shoulder telling him what to fix and what not to. Take Bruce away and you get a man in over his head. Todd has no idea what he’s doing. Let him go. If Godwin’s wife is respected in the locker room, Todd WILL lose the room because of her, matter of fact, this may be evidence he already did.

To the Glazers – do us a favor and slash ticket prices.

  68. BigMacAttack Says:

First comment nailed it. Baker locks in on one target and misses wide open receivers, which in our case is Evans and Godwin. Bowlesack needs to go and Baker does too.

  69. WiseCrack Says:

Most of the time, the reason a WR is upset is because the QB failed.

HOWEVER, the CULT of Baker would have you believe that its because the coaches dont call passing plays and there is no OL preventing him being sacked a league low.

ALTHOUGH, I personally have never seen a Bucs O with so many guys running wide open and a QB that consistently throw short, long and perfectly where the CB can knock the head off of the WE.

The OL may such at Run Blocking but they continue to be the best at pass blocking. DESPITE a sorry QB like Baker

Time to see what we have in Trask. Surely he cant be as sorry as HalfBaked.

  70. Bucsfan81 Says:

Go look at Godwin production under Arians and look at it under Bowles. Bowles sucks as a coach he needs to be fired. So does Canales who is nothing more than a damn QB coach.

  71. adam from ny Says:

ok now that i’ve digested this…

i’m guessing the godwins really like tampa and want to stay here…

but the problem is the writing on the wall…

meaning…mike is having one helluva season and chris is kinda fading…or being fazed out a bit…

so the godwin’s might be getting nervous about the future – if they love tampa, the bucs, the city, etc…

i don’t think having two 20 mil + receivers is really going to work here, with all the other inevitable big signings coming up…

so it looks like they are going to sign mike………..and then they’ll part ways with chris…

the whole thing sucks…but i think the godwins see the writing on the wall, and they don’t like it…

If a coach thinks a player on offense is banged up he might relay a message to his OC to try to get him more breaks.

In the course of an important game where you are looking like a 1-10 team might win his OC might say Fhak That and play him as much as normal. Even if just a decoy.

Chris doesn’t have to worry about being shown up by a back up so as a Pro and a team first guy won’t play if he will be a hindrance.

Bowles comment could be true based on what he understood was being done based on his directive. Doubt Bowles is keeping tabs of how many times each guy runs on the field.

Two things I see as far as this goes is:

    1) Brady was good enough to be able to spread the wealth around to the receiving room. Guys like Ma6field, Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson are not that Good. Very Limited.

    2) NFL has a Brittany Maholmes vol 2 going. Some guys need to simply say I Love Ya Baby but STFU.

Now listen to your mom in the background and get ready for bed. It ain’t Christmas break yet.

Much love to the Godwin Family. We are dealing with this garbage as well. Bright side the season is almost over.

PS: It’s Baker as well. 😉 Missing open players by forcing a pass or scrambling. Using bad technique on some throws. Doing 3 to 5 steps drops but holding the ball when it should be out the moment the last steps forward, whether it’s a throwaway or attempt to complete a pass. Etc. etc. But, I’m labeled a fake Bucs fan, a hater, or Trask fan for pointing out the truth. (Fan since ‘97) 🤦‍♂️

  81. Red86 Says:

I find it strange that Mike Evan was about to ran out of Tampa earlier this year. Now, it’s Godwin turn. 🤦‍♂️ It’s Baker the common denominator.

QUE??? (I was quoting previous guy, I THINK. This primitive forum software doesn’t make that evident)

At any rate, Baker SAID that he was very worried about being the guy responsible for breaking Evan’s streak, and now he’s relieved it it.

I am not shocked to hear that. Toilet Bowl lies as needed just as he lied to us before Jets game on the qb competition. He said he hadn’t chosen the starting qb. Trask will start follow by Baker

    —–

    David I’ll give you one

I have NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER Kyle will distribute the ball to more players but ummm

They just won’t be on our team

At least once a game Kyle will have a UF flash back and and loft one of those Mcdonald’s arch throws and a 300 defensive linemen will track it , run if down and intercept it 40 yards down the field when it finally comes down ( with condensation) and even try a pick 6 but run out of gas in 12 yards.

  84. Let ‘em bake Says:

Losing breeds frustration. Mrs. godwin is possibly airing out private frustrations that were meant to stay private ( like staffords wife earlier this year ) . Look for Chris to put this fire out tomorrow, claim much ado about nothing, how he fully supports the coaching staff, etc. if he is frustrated , he’ll private speak to coaches.. he comes across as a truly class act, he knows the timing of this couldn’t be worse, and gives him a bad look, organizationally. He doesn’t want to be blamed as the reason, after being within one game of first, that seeds of division were sewn. He will fix it tomorrow, and may be a catalyst for a great team win.

  85. beeej Says:

I’m thinking he’s currently the highest paid player on the team?

  86. Swanee22 Says:

Atlanta Falcons – 21. Buccaneers – 13 No need to waste a Sunday and watch the game. It’s over and organization deserve the embarrassing season for the owners ridiculous decision on listening to Airans and hiring Bowles. Absolutely not a hire who earned or deserved it. This decision was absolutely foreseeable .. A graduate of American University should of known better.

    Tail wagging the dog Joe?

  88. TJC Says:

Chris Godwin snaps…He is 3rd in targets among #2 options in the NFL. The only #2 WR with more targets this season are Waddle and Lockett.

Just shut up with the narratives already.

  89. Bucsfan951 Says:

I would think, if the glazers have a person or small team of people who work for them, and give them intel of how the fans feel, this has to be Todd’s last season here.

It seriously feels like Todd has lost all control of his locker room. Nothing is running smooth and there seems to be the “brady effect” in the locker room while they have a very lax head coach. Not a good fit.

I blame the glazers. They listened to arians who vouched for Todd to take over. Everyone knows they should have gotten an offensive minded hc to take over and keep Todd as defensive coordinator. This defense has struggled since Todd became hc.

Anyways, I can’t wait for the season to be done so Todd gets fired and we bring in an offensive minded hc. Sorry Chris and Mariah for this year. Please tough it out and forgive this messed up organization. Hopefully they right the ship. And sorry if any of this doesn’t make sense. I’ve had a few drinks and working off of an iPhone 😳

  90. lambchop Says:

I’ve said this before, Baker only plays half the field. The other thing to investigate is whether Chris is still running a lot of longer-developing routes. Baker knows if he waits too long, his pass is going to get batted down or he’ll eat a sack.

  91. Bobby M. Says:

First White, who is Bowles prized possession, wanted out….now Godwin, a professional in all phases from day 1 of his career, is seemingly irritated….that locker room is lost. The physical and mental effort has been mediocre because guys have checked out and have no faith in their coaches. You better believe Godwin gave his wife feedback before she posted….which has likely been brewing for weeks. I’ve said a few times…..why take Godwin from the slot when he excels there? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Same for Dean/Davis….why are we playing zone with guys who are best at man coverage? This is the reality of pro players….you screw with their stats, you’re costing them money. If we’re winning stuff will slide but we aren’t winning and the irritation is coming out….now publicly but it’s been visible on tape for weeks.

  92. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

Todd has a tendency to just sort of say “whatever” will make the question go away. It has no basis in fact or reality, just a dismissal of the question.

In this case it has cost him a bit of a firestorm, lol.

I remember Mariah from the year the Bucs were on Hard Knocks. She clearly has her husband’s back, and has facts to back her up.

    ——-

As usual you make not a lick of sense. IF baker is the issue and plays are being called with Godwin as primary then godwin knows it. SO why does his wife decide to go after the coaching staff that actually calls the shots instead – when its faaaar safer to go after the QB who doesn’t control play calling or playing time?

The reason she’s going after the coaching staff is that they are starting Baker instead of Trask. That’s something she cannot say

  94. Scott Says:

Baker does t spread the ball around much. He force feeds Evans

  95. Lombardi Lenny Says:

Bucs organization is operating like a bunch of woke Dems. Just blatently lying to our face to try and control the narrative and their public image.

    Go woke, go broke Karen’s.

  96. Defense Rules Says:

This is why the Bucs can never have nice things; heck, we can’t even celebrate a WIN properly. Much more fun apparently to spend our time ragging on coaches & various players on the team, and yes blitzkrieging each other when opportunities arise. That’s the wonderful thing about blogs … no need to deal with facts. Let speculation run amok.

IN MY OPINION, Todd Bowles & this coaching staff is gone at the end of this season. No way that the Glazers can tolerate another season of this level of performance because it’s negatively impacting their BUSINESS. Along those same lines, I can’t see us re-signing Baker Mayfield next season; he’s not our future & he’s not even a reasonable ‘bridge QB’. I can’t even see Mike Evans coming back; he’s a FA at the end of this season & it’ll be HIS choice what to do with the rest of his career (he’ll opt out IMO & we can’t afford the franchise tag cost to stop him).

Assuming that be true, Bucs appear to have 3 key players on offense to build around: Wirfs (FA), White, and Godwin. We’ve got some other mid-tier talent, but those 3 seem to be our building blocks. If I was the Glazers right now, I’d be having a serious heart-to-heart with my General Manager & my Head Coach right about now. Injuries aren’t helping, but this has become a very dysfunctional team that’s doing a poor job of setting itself up for the future.

    WiseCrack Says:

Seriously, Baker is not that great at QB and its obvious. Jaymiss would have this team at 500 or better.

    —————————-

Jameis’ career stats are very comparable to Baker’s. BM throws far fewer interceptions though. Other than that, they’re astoundingly similar.

  99. Pewter power Says:

    Bowles is burnt toast

  100. pewter941 Says:

Chris was questionable with a neck injury, nobody questioned his work ethic.

  101. SufferingSince76 Says:

You guys can argue all you want (a lot of it infantile), but the main problem is coaching, coaching and coaching. This isn’t a great team, but it’s a darn better team than this. Bowles is in charge. It goes as he wants it. If he wants Godwin to get the ball, he’ll get it. Bowles will never be an HC again because he doesn’t deserve it.

  102. A Bucs Fan Says:

I can see this as a result of Bucs coaches forcing Baker on the offense. Baker doesn’t go through his reads and is wildly inaccurate with his throws.

How many times has he missed a wide open Godwin this year? Too many.

  103. Falconrap Says:

Tony, you need to stop hugging Baker’s sack. And the dude with All 22 in his name is clearly lying. You only have to look at the video yourself. RealBucsTalk highlighted one of these plays on X, where, despite looking at the safety and seeing him bail, he immediately locked into Palmer on a speed out where he was man covered tightly. Speed outs are best against zone where the receiver can break hard and has outside leverage. Baker shouldn’t have even looked his way. Godwin came over the middle behind the LB’s and in front of a bailing safety, about 12-15 yards down the field and Baker chose not to go to him. That’s not coaching, or anything else. Baker doesn’t like to go to the middle of the field where Canales’ offense regularly gets guys open. Go look at the damn play yourself and get off your knees. Baker’s married and expecting, dude.

  104. BucU Says:

What an awful hire this was. This organization is an absolute clown show.
This ENTIRE coaching staff is gone after this season. I dare the Glazers to keep Todd and his staff employed next year. You’ll see a revolt like nothing seen here in Tampa before.

  105. Bubby Says:

Organizational reset needed from top to bottom. The failure to reset will set us back another 5 years.

  106. Jeff Says:

Chris never recovered from his devastating injury. Sadly, he will never be the old Chris again. And the old Chris was just an average receiver who the GOAT made look good. Brady makes trash look like treasure.

  107. Eric Says:

When the QB doesn’t see the field to well ( can’t read defenses) lock in on his favorite WR these things happen! OBJ Father appears to be right the guy don’t see the field to well!

  108. Jmarkbuc Says:

    DR

Good analysis. Don’t know if White is a building block though.

Definitely think Bud Licht is a problem.

  109. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Jeff

In 2019 Chris Godwin was a Pro Bowler with Jaymis Winston as his Quarterback.

Crazy that you would call Godwin average and trash and that he only looked good because of the GOAT TB12 because that’s simply not true.

  110. Thundersack Says:

    Two things:

    001. Chris Godwin is not getting the ball and that needed to change a while ago.

    002. Has it ever ended well when a player’s wife goes scorched Earth on social media? Godwin is gone or Bowles is gone.

  111. A Bucs Fan Says:

I agree with @DR. I just hope the new coaching staff can lure Mike back somehow and someway. He needs the Larry Fitz treatment!

  112. Buc4evr Says:

Bowles is history. Maybe Baker also. No more stupid excuses from Todd.

  113. Couch Fan Says:

If the Glazers arent looking for new HCing candidates by now, something is really wrong with them.

  114. Fishing Buc Says:

Love the Traskers trying to make this about the QB

Watch the film, CG has been lazy on routes and miss read the Def and made bad adjustments in option trees.

Loved the guy ar Penn and still love his effort and team 1st approach. But he’s banged up and not having his best yr.

That said, your wife coming out is a bad look. Means your crying at home and she’s so fed up she’s starting to speak out. It’s a bad look for any professional sports or not.

  115. Pewter power Says:

Not a front office issue and I’m not afraid of a rebuild. For all those basing Jason licht in he’s the guy who build that Super Bowl roster and he started at the bottom fixing Lovies stupid personnel decisions. A rebuild starts with the entire coaching staff so sorry Dave Canales that includes you

  116. Architek Says:

Talk about a mess of a season and a lost culture!

Please get Bowles and this clown show out of Tampa ASAP!!!

    ——-

So in other words he KNOWS that you all are lying and the oline is no good

This one has some merit. You all are idiots if you think ANY QB on a one year deal is going to sit in the pocket flat footed and get decked over and over againl When Baker couldn’t move well because of an injury he was sacked SIX times. Thats how good the Oline is

I’d happy feet my way all the way to jersey tooo. Any sane person would

  119. OlBoy Says:

It’s good business for Mrs Godwin to shut this false narrative down. It’s also good for the team in that we can look to the next level ‘Why’ to find answers.

  121. Robert Says:

Chris Godwin has to take his balls out of his wife’s purse. Speak for yourself. Don’t let your mom fight your battles for you. At his locker on Sunday Godwin said he has a neck injury and it’s serious.

  122. Robert Says:

Believe what you want no receiver as good as Godwin gets ignored on a losing team. Bowles future depends on winning. Baker’s new contract wherever he ends up is also on the line. They would throw a lineman who reports as an eligible receiver if it meant a positive play.

  123. gotbbucs Says:

Don’t believe a single word Bowles says after a game or during the week. There is ZERO accountability on this coaching staff. Talk talk talk talk talk about fixing this or that every single week. Nothing ever gets fixed. It was the same exact line of BS last year

Baker isn’t faultless either. He has a history of pissing off his recievers.

  124. firethecannons Says:

We need a new head coach and I hope we do not wait long, the sooner we get someone new, the sooner he can determine our team needs and get to know the 53 players and coaches and etc we need to move forward w/o todd bowles–he is not the answer going forward

  125. Dan the Bucs fan Says:

Classy move by Bowles trying to protect his player. What do you want him to say? Godwin can’t get open anymore in the nfl he can’t get seperation one on one from a linebacker. His wife should shut her mouth and thank the coach for not throwing him under the bus. I’m at almost every home game watching Godwin not being able to get any kind of seperation. We have no speed on the field. I love Godwin probably because of his knee injury but he might never be the player he was.
