“We’ve Got To Find A Way.”

December 7th, 2023

Pressure.

Joe has the answer to Baker Mayfield’s question.

Score more points.

Joe’s good friend Rock Riley noted that Bucs safety/linebacker Ryan Neal said Sunday is it. A loss means the season is done.

Even Bucs coach Todd Bowles is calling Sunday’s game at Atlanta a playoff game. The stakes are that high.

If the Bucs lose, they will be two games back of the Dixie Chicks with five to play. And the Dixie Chicks will have a tiebreaker over the Bucs.

Mayfield, the Bucs quarterback, spoke to the importance of Sunday’s game.

“‘One game at a time’ mentality,” Mayfield said. “Obviously, they’re leading the division. Divisional games are already important, but obviously with where we are at right now, it’s extremely important for us.

“We’ve got to be singularly focused on any way we can beat the Falcons. We’ve got to find a way.”

Score more points.

The Bucs are one of the worst teams in the league at scoring points. They average 19.4 points a game, 10th worst in the league but better than when Tom Brady led the offense last year.

If the Bucs with their offensive weapons cannot score at least 24 points on this sorry team, then the Bucs ought to throw the towel in on the season. The Bucs have had 12 games now to work out the wrinkles in the offense. With three of the best receivers in the game (Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rachaad White), if offensive coaches cannot find a way to score 24, then Joe really doesn’t know what to say.

    Your fired !

    Fixed it for you

They absolutely cannot come out flat like they have basically every week this year. Up-tempo, runs to the outside and screens to white.

And on the other side of the ball, the secondary absolutely cannot give up those deep plays. That’s my real concern, we can’t stop a damn thing.

  3. UGotRobbed Says:

Bowles is still the HC. So you should know what the outcome of this game will be!

  4. Leopold Stotch Says:

Well if Bowles would stay out of the freaking way, quit being so darn stubborn and play to the teams strengths, then maybe. I’m just sick of it. We need to do a completely different style because the defense got tired. No they didn’t. Such a crap excuse. I’m just done with him. I really wanted to like him, and I am grateful for everything he has done, but good grief this is just awful. The gameplan, the excuses, the now lies. Find a way to stay away and let the offense do what should be done.

Oh, you guys are so mean talking about the Bucs this way. You must not be real fans, you know, the ones who like sh*++y football week in and week out because you just love the Bucs, right down to the ball boy. Real fans, paying customers, don’t accept mediocrity. Single player fans, and you know who you are, do.

  6. Lakeland Steve Says:

Unfortunately Todd Bowles can’t get out of his own way. Now he misrepresents Godwins stats last Sunday, I don’t know if it was on purpose or what but this will be a huge issue if not nipped in the bud today. When a star players wife calls the head coach a liar and doubles down on it that’s a huge problem. Whether this is just a frustrated wife tired of her husband getting undeserved shots taken at him or she is speaking for Chris this needs to be put away today. Can’t let that fester and become more than it is. Unless there is already a lot of dissention behind the scenes that we don’t know about yet. hope I am wrong but I don’t have a good feeling about this game.

When Father Dungy was hired by the Dolts, didn’t they tell him in no uncertain terms….DONT SCREW WITH THE OFFENSE!

  8. johnnymoon Says:

Loose they are 2 back with 4 to play and tech 3 back as Atl will have tiebreaker ..so a loss it is over but keep starting Baker so we know what we got .

  9. HC Grover Says:

Playoff money is on the line Sunday.

  10. HC Grover Says:

The biggest blunder of all was getting rid of Mason and Smith and moving Wirfs to left tackle.

  11. Popcorn Mike Says:

First of all Bowles is not the one who is over throwing his receivers. He is not committing stupid penalties in the red zone or on big plays. However, he is responsible, he’s the HC. I don’t understand he’s wrong if he mingles with the offense and he’s wrong if he don’t. Again I think he is somewhat responsible because he is the HC he should make sure everyone is held responsible from offense to special teams

  12. NE Fan Says:

When your offense played like your D trying not to score points, there is no way. Fire Bowles, the only way!!!

  13. Bucnjim Says:

Should have won the first meeting with the Falcons but they came out with that BS conservative game plan. If it turns into another punting contest we’re done. Get this ship headed in the right direction this week or just resign and give us a chance to land a QB early.

  14. Beeej Says:

    Grover was that a joke?

  15. NEOhiobuc Says:

What’s sad, is most of the posters here could build a better offense than Bowles is allowing. Yes this pathetic offense is all Bowles. It doesn’t look anything Seattle’s offense.

Falcons have given up 240 points, Bucs 245. Is the cut off from Sorry to Shetty 242.5?

  17. Buc4evr Says:

Maybe Canales and Bowles can get their heads out of their asses and put together a game plan that is about scoring points and stopping the run.

  18. Wild Bill Says:

Sorry but the Bucs are second rate from the coaches to the offense and even the once vaunted defense. They try hard but the overall talent for the team and coaches is now well below average. They have to struggle to barely beat a one game win team. Clean house with the current coaching staff and rebuild across the board. There are still a core of good players, but last season was clear evidence of a decline that only got worse this season. Start all the promising new players to see what you got. And begin a total rebuild in the off season.

Last week was critical too. Did this team look like it was hungry?

    PLAYOFF GAME MENTALITY?

How’d Bowles do in his last (only) playoff game? BLOWOUT LOSS!

  22. Dlavid Says:

Let’s just get on with it Glazers !!!

  23. NE Fan Says:

Slypirate@ but the D was rested!!!

  24. TF Says:

Is this article a reprint from last year? Just take out “Tom Brady” the best QB in the history of football, add all those weapons, only go 8-9 so we add Canales. Same result. This year is bananas and the definition of insanity. Just like troubleshooting a car, it’s time to replace the Head Coach and see how the team performs next year.

Baker is going to find his way to the sideline

  26. Conner50 Says:

I doubt that we’re gonna score more than 24 pts probably won’t even get 20. Which at this point is fine with me as long as Bowles gets fired soon. We lose hope it happens that Monday morning. Tampa will be better off getting a new coaching staff and keep building this team up
