Stinking Panthers Can Frank Reich; Bucs On Upset Alert

November 27th, 2023

Fired; Bucs on upset alert.

Joe usually waits until Wednesday to start chatter on the next Bucs’ opponent. This is too juicy and sad to pass up.

The Stinking Panthers canned first-year head coach Frank Reich today after 11 games. Not a surprise. Carolina is the worst team in the NFL and their No. 1 overall pick of a quarterback is looking like trash and worse; He’s getting the hell beat out of him with a porous offensive line. And (some) Bucs fans whine about Tampa Bay’s offensive line — ha!

As a result of this NFL news, the Bucs ought to be worried. Very worried.

Anyone remember last year, just days after the Stinking Panthers ran Matt Rhule, the Bucs showed up to Carolina and layed one of the biggest eggs you will ever see from an NFL team? Carolina, with a brand new coach, held the Bucs to one field goal in a 21-3 upset.

(Putrid Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich shouldn’t have been on the Bucs’ payroll by the time the game ended.)

What makes anyone think the same cannot happen in less than a week when Carolina comes to Tampa?

If Joe wasn’t so outraged last year at the worst, most irresponsible gameplan he had ever seen when the Bucs shat all over themselves in Pittsburgh, the Bucs nearly replicated the same thing the next week at Carolina.

Do you think the Bucs are a better team now? Do you think the Bucs are playing so fundamentally sound that history won’t repeat itself?

Joe thinks Bucs fans might not want to make plans to be anywhere within an hour’s drive of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on Sunday.

This coaching move by the Stinking Panthers just screams “upset alert.”

0% chance the Bucs lose to the Panthers. Zero. No upset alert here.

  2. Morgus the Magnificient Says:

    4-8, here we come!!

  3. Rick Says:

    Watch.

  4. Rick Says:

There’s not ONE team we ‘cannot’ lose to. We may be the worse coached team in the league. The fact Bowles still has a gig is amazing. I wish I could perform so badly at my job and make millions – guess I picked the wrong career!

  5. realistic-optimistic Says:

Damn, CAR is in a spiral. They just hired Reich, and just let him select his QB (after giving up the booty to move up). They might be in trouble for several years.

But I still think they split with the Bucs this year. We’re that bad.

  6. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Hey the panthers have absolutely zero reason to tank. They don’t own a first round pick next year. So don’t expect this team to roll over and die

  7. Fire Goodell Says:

Won’t be surprised if Carolina beats us both times and Bryce Young looks like another version of CJ Stroud.

  8. realistic-optimistic Says:

Honestly, it was probably Stroud’s success that got Reich fired.

  9. Davenport Says:

Anyone who thinks that this will be an easy win for the Bucs is dreaming.

There is no life or passion in this team, everyone knows that Bowles will be fired, and they play down to their competition.

Panthers have nothing to “lose” for so watch them play a high effort game.

  10. SteveK Says:

Can’t wait for big Vita and Kancey to swallow up high school sized Bryce Young!

  11. zzbuc Says:

I have a ton of respect for Reich offensive mind, I wouldn’t mind having as an OC ….

  12. I remember 21 Says:

Guess Tepper doesn’t have the same stupid qualms about firing a coach mid season, you know, like EVERY other NFL owner doesn’t. It’s just such a joke. I don’t even relate it to the “bowles is doing a good enough job tanking” or the idea that if we have an interim coach he’s gonna right the ship and start Trask. When you have a guy and you realize he’s not getting the job done, can’t get the job done, has NEVER IN HIS CAREER gotten the job done, you get rid of him AS SOON AS you realize that. Anything less is bad business. We owe him nothing. And while at this point it’s better for us to, I’m not even gonna say tank (tanking implies a planned, feigned ineptitude, we don’t have to try that hard to be inept), I literally care less about how the rest of the season plays out than I do about bowles getting fired. It’s the right thing to do for the team and for the fans. If we win out, great. If we blank the rest of the season, fine. He’s got to go NOW.

  13. Joe Says:

The fact Bowles still has a gig is amazing.

Joe has no earthly idea why people suggest this? Do they not know the Glazer family’s history? Apparently not.

This is like saying, “I’m amazed McDonalds still sells hamburgers.”

Why are you “amazed?” Raheem Morris lost 10 games in a row (to close the season) before he was fired. What in the Glazer’s history of owning this franchise have they ever given any indication they have a quick trigger finger?

If Bowles is fired before Jan. 7, then yeah, that’s reason to be “amazed” because that has never happened before.

Not saying Bowles shouldn’t be canned. He’s doing a poor job. But this is simply not what the Glazers do.

Could the Glazers pull the trigger before Jan. 7? Sure, but Joe wouldn’t bet a nickel on it. Joe doesn’t like betting against “never.”

  14. Davenport Says:

Tepper may be an over-involved nut job, but at least he holds people accountable and isn’t afraid to make changes.

    Can the Glazers say that?

  15. adam from ny Says:

can bowles actually survive a home loss to carolina ?

i say there’s gotta be a tipping point

  16. Joe Says:

Do you also expect right-handed people to write with their left hands?

  17. DuthtsyRhothdes Says:

Wonder if Reich’s agent lets it slip that Tepper overruled him when he wanted CJ Stroud over Bryce Young

  18. SteveK Says:

I am amazed McDonalds still sells hamburgers!

    Lmao, yes Joe!

  19. Joe Says:

Wonder if Reich’s agent lets it slip that Tepper overruled him when he wanted CJ Stroud over Bryce Young

Wanna say that was leaked weeks ago. Good call!

  20. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

My untrained eye says be thankful CJ Stroud is not a Panther, and that the division may run through that kid if it were the case.

Also, do you think Bryce young is going to be any good? I don’t see anything remarkable. I saw “better” results from Tim Tebow.

  21. Fred McNeil Says:

Honestly, I would like to refute that, but I can’t.

  22. Rick Says:

Good point Joe – the Glazers never let someone go midseason.

I guess it wouldn’t make a difference anyway. Am sure they’re talking behind the scenes with potential candidates…hopefully.

  23. Sacker58 Says:

    @zzbuc,
Dave Canales is just getting his feet under him.
I don’t see Frank Reich bringing the enthusiasm and I think Canales should be allowed to stay whoever the next coach is.

  24. Mr. Editor Says:

Not surprising about Reich getting fired, only that it happened this soon. If the Bucs lose at home to the Stinkin’ Panthers, a coordinator of Bowles’s choice will most likely be the first to walk the plank. The “fall guy” approach seems to be the trend in the NFL at the moment.

  25. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Panthers have the next Daniel Snyder as an owner. Meddlesome, impatient. They’ll suck for years.

  26. Tdub850 Says:

This is GREAT news for the Tank crowd, 4-8 here we come!

  27. Dewey Selmon Says:

The Bucs have never won a game and it happened. No team has ever won a SB in their home stadium and then it happened. The Glazers have never fired a coach midseason. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Just hasn’t yet. Instead of entertaining the thought and discussing it the so called journalist dismisses his readers. At least there won’t be 40 YaYa stories this week,

  28. SB~LV Says:

Strong ownership is laying down the law and establishing a winning attitude
    Gee….
Who’d thunk for a game that is imposing your will on the opponent.
I think the halls of OBP are akin to the former boardroom of Bud Lite

  29. Tye Says:

Why oh WHY can’t the Bucs have a spine and can Bowels! UGH!

  30. Joe Says:

I guess it wouldn’t make a difference anyway. Am sure they’re talking behind the scenes with potential candidates…hopefully.

Remember: Just because the Glazers haven’t pulled the plug on Bowles doesn’t mean they aren’t working behind the scenes for a potential new coach.

If anything, knowing how they desire to work in the shadows, they don’t change coaches midseason on purpose because it allows them to work in the dark while everyone is focused on the incumbent coach.

  31. Joe Says:

Why oh WHY can’t the Bucs have a spine and can Bowels! UGH!

Personally think they have a spine by not caving to the loud crowd. Think about it, the Bucs have a No. 7 overall pick currently. If you think Bowles is incompetent, then why replace him now and potentially lose a good draft slot?

  32. SB~LV Says:

Can the coaches and let the captains put the game plan together and run game day like sandlot football

  33. adam from ny Says:

    okay……….here we go….

is tommy b still living in tampa ?…or keeping a home…

    what if ?

the glazers potentially bring back tom to be the next head coach…

after all, he is offensive minded and he’s not a young upstart…

also i know he has raider ties and new england ties, and is supposed to be a broadcaster next season…

    but what if ???

  34. David Says:

Best time to start Trask a gainst a new coach and a busted rookie. Bucs with Baker already have lost to crap teams, back up qb’s and rookie qb’s. This easily could be a trap game to lose to a rookie qb agian. START TRASK, SEASON IS OVER. TRASK WILL EASILY BEAT YOUNG. I GUARANTEED IT. MOST FANS DO NOT WANT TO SEE TOILET BOWL & BAKER AT HOME. SEE THE ON GOING POLLS.

  35. SteveK Says:

Too much time for TB12 to coach, not sure it would be worth his time.

That said, yes, he’s your coach if if he wants it.

  36. zzbuc Says:

    @Sacker58

I pretty much agree with your assessment, but in reality doesn’t work that way.
If Bowls gets fired Canales should be out to…

But I understand your point, and I agree with it….

  37. I remember 21 Says:

    @Dewey Selmon

Good point about things not happening until they happen. Brady had never had a losing season, until he played for bowles. A rookie had never thrown for 470 yards in a game, until the right one went up against “defensive guru” bowles’ vaunted defense. Records and history are made to be broken. Firing bowles would be more than just holding him accountable, it would also hold the players to account (which bowles refuses to do). Maybe an interim coach comes in and benches DW45 (or at least yanks his C). Anybody with eyes would come in and glue JTS to the bench. Maybe they would’ve used the press conference after the Texans game to say Davis has to play better as the 10th highest paid CB in the league. This team has lacked any semblance of accountability since Brady’s second season. Last season Brady was too distracted to do it and of course bowles was never gonna do it. This season, I mean Ryan Neal is still starting 🤷‍♂️🤯.

  38. Ran-D Says:

Wow biased on what we have seen so far, nothing scares me more than a rookie quarterback and an interim head coach, am I the only one that wished that Baker had sat out for a quarter just to see what would happen, they were going to lose anyway! I am not firm for or against Kyle just desperate for any glimmer of hope.

  39. Marine Buc Says:

This comment by Baker Mayfield after yesterday’s loss is pretty telling –

“Until everybody gets pissed off enough to get it fixed, there will be no changes,” Mayfield said. “I know where I’m gonna head at the end of this week. I’ll get my job fixed and try to drag as many people along as well.”

Sounds like a pretty unmotivated locker room and the team’s play on the field reflects this as well.

Todd Bowles is not a motivator or a head coach. Just another mediocre defensive coordinator.

    —————————–

    gotta agree with joe here…

it’s smart if the glazers work in the shadows to line up a harbaugh, or as i said maybe a tommy b return…like seriously how insane would that be…we would be back to “the new america’s team” all over again, with tommy b yelling and working officials from the sidelines…what a sight it would be,,,lol

but yeah the glazers working behind the scenes to handle biz makes a ton of sense while bowles just further crashes and burns, and bumps us to a better draft pick

  41. D-Rome Says:

Damn, CAR is in a spiral. They just hired Reich, and just let him select his QB (after giving up the booty to move up).

Reich and QB coach Josh McCown wanted CJ Stroud.

This should serve as a lesson to all of you who think drafting a QB in the first round is going to fix things. This team has problems on the offensive side of the ball that a new QB isn’t going to fix.

  42. Joe Says:

but yeah the glazers working behind the scenes to handle biz makes a ton of sense while bowles just further crashes and burns, and bumps us to a better draft pick

Joe had heard that in Schiano’s last season, the Glazers began negotiations with Lovie Smith in October. Schiano was fired after the season.

    Never mistake inaction for inactivity.

  43. Joe Says:

This should serve as a lesson to all of you who think drafting a QB in the first round is going to fix things.

Oh, drafting a quarterback in the first round will certainly fix things. You just have to pick the right guy. Easier said than done.

But, a team will never pick the right guy if they don’t pick.

  44. D-Rome Says:

David Tepper is a bad owner and bad for the NFL. I’m glad he’s not running things with the Bucs. He’s fired 3 coaches since he took over the team.

  45. David Says:

BAKER SAYS:Until everybody gets pissed off enough to get it fixed, there will be no changes,” Mayfield said. “I know where I’m gonna head at the end of this week. I’ll get my job fixed and try to drag as many people along as well.”

Wow, what a captain and leader throwing his teammates under the bus. I warned you Baker is trash he will take every one with him down in the trash shoot.

Baker you sucked the most yesterday throwing pick, near picks, fumble not your teammates. The defense played efficient enough for you to win. XFL is waiting for you.

  46. Leighroy Says:

What’s the opposite of the Midas Touch? Bc David Tepper has that when it comes to football. Brilliant Wall Street mind, but effing clueless when it comes to running a professional football franchise.

It’s bad in Tampa folks, but it’s much worse here in Charlotte.

  47. Letsbucinggo Says:

Most good nfl heads coaches want full control that will never happen with Licht as GM. Bowles is Jasons yes man he will be here next year and we will still be talking about the same thing. Its going to be like the movie Groundhog Day.

  48. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

HARBAUGH IS GIVEN TOTAL CONTROL and WINS IN YEAR 1.

  49. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m going to be stubbornly optimistic here because I simply don’t have time to drive to the liquor store while at work!

The Bucs have no business being as bad as they are. Strangely in 2 or 3 of these losses we managed to be “in the game.” A bounce here, or there and we are 6-5 or 7-4.
Let me be clear, the product on the field is garbage. However, this team should have a better record. (It’s strange, I know!) There’s what, 6 games left? It’s not completely unbelievable that we could represent the NFC South. There better be some gosh darn effort to win these games. I will not accept “tanking” for picks, nor should any other fan.

    Go Bucs!

  50. Cleanhouse Says:

My 4-13 prediction not looking so crazy right now people?

  51. Dwayne Cone Says:

Panthers are 6th in yards allowed. 4th against the pass. 23rd against the run but just 30 per game less than the Bucs at 10th.

First game after a HC firing usually results in a temporary bump and a Win. Hope for a Rain Out.

  52. Bucsfanman Says:

SLU- “I thought a top pick in the draft gets you a top quarterback?”

    THIS all day! “Tankers” beware!

  53. Rod Munch Says:

I’ve had this as the Bucs final win of the season since I did my preseason prediction of 5-12 – and so far the team is exactly where I thought they’d be – they’d start out fast before falling off a cliff.

Anywho, I was looking more at the schedule, and while I’ll stick with this being a win – I hope they lose, because if they do, it means they’ll beat the Jags for their 5th and final win. Why? Because that’s what a Ray Perkins team would do. They’d lose this easy game and then beat one of the best AFC teams.

So if we lose vs the Panthers – go mortgage your house and put all your money on the Bucs straight up defeating the Jags, it’s guaranteed money.

  54. simeon97 Says:

The expectation is for bucs to lose. Tepper is fired up, no on is safe. Teams rally after they fire a coach.

But the glazers will keep bowles for another 6 weeks. But he is def gone after this weekend

I don’t know – to me that sounds like a guy who is throwing his teammates under the bus so as to not take responsibility for losing the game.

That’s how losers always think – it’s always someone else’s fault, it’s always something someone else did wrong, they are never the problem and everyone is against them.

Anywho, as Baker would say, and has literally said every year while in the NFL … we’re ‘this’ close to figuring it out. ‘This’ close!

  56. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Be careful… With Frank Reich gone, the Panthers might win another game.

  68. BucsFan81 Says:

We’re not winning another game this season. Top 5 pick in bound along with new coaches.

  69. Buc4evr Says:

Bowles is a dead man walking and Canales will also be gone. Jason has already been instructed to start looking for a replacement. Bucs need to get rid of a lot of dead weight starting with White, Barrett, JTS and Hall. O line needs to be reworked. QB is gone. Wouldn’t be surprised if Evan’s walks along with LVD. Burn it to the ground.

  70. SlyPirate Says:

    PRAY FOR A LOSS
Bowles 100% Gone (at some point)

  71. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Any unemployed HC, any coordinator, position coach, or assistant coach, wanting to move up in the food chain, and undoubtedly make more money.. Thats who.

“What “good” coach would want to come to a team mired in pick#15/16 purgatory and cap issues?”

No “good” coach but a GREAT one for enough $$$…won’t hurt the cap..and enough power as in total roster control…hurt JL’s feelings. I like JL and respect his work but…

JIM HARBAUGH…won 70% as a college coach…70% as an NFL coach…set records at Michigan as a player and last 14 years with one Pro Bowl.

Did anyone miss the interviews after Michigan’s 3rd straight win over OSU.
I think his guys would eat nails for him.

I do not want another “good” coach. I want a chance at greatness and that comes with Harbaugh. I’ll entertain any other nominations except for Belichik a LOSING NFL coach without Brady and even the GOAT is too old to come out of retirement.

  74. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The odds of getting a good HC, is probably about the same as drafting a really good QB from college…. which ain’t too good, lol

  75. Pewter power Says:

I put nothing past the Bucs with Todd Bowles as head coach. I could easily see us being upset by the panthers. Maybe just make that will be enough to make him stop talking about how many games from first place they are after a loss.

If we win the division and Bowles keeps his job it was a wasted season because we’ll have the same issue again next year whether we find a franchise quarterback or not

  76. The Beer Whisperer Says:

NFL history is not packed full of great HC’s… Some do get lucky for a year or 2, though….. Pretty sure there’s been more bad ones than good ones..

  77. Oz Len Says:

I can’t believe some of these comments. Some are downright ignorant (I.E Mike S. Says). This team was picked by everybody to win 2-games, before Baker was even mentioned as a QB. And now that the season is unfolding everybody is “Oh my GOD!!” we suck. What do you expect? A free agent 4-million dollar QB is not going to make you a 12 win team? Mayfield needs a line and a running game to be successful. He’s not getting that here. Franchise Qbs do not come in off the street unless they have 30+ sexual assault charges against them and even there that move is blowing up. And I’ll tell you what, Cleveland would love to have Mayfield back with their 7-4 record now that they are on their 4th QB for the season. A lot of you fans having losing minds sets. I guess it makes sense though, your team is the all time losing NFL franchise. 4 of those other NFL teams are expansion teams that came after your team was around for years and now have a better winning percentage than you. You won a Super Bowl with a 40+ year old whose development and career had nothing to with your team or system. That moment was a blip on your radar. Your trajectory is about 3 or 4 or more years of mediocrity. Enjoy the ride. Bring back the Popsicle jerseys so everybody knows who you are.

  78. Winny Testaverde Says:

Time for The Tank…Flush The Bowles…draft a QB. Baker Brister tried his best. His best won’t do, unfortunately.

  79. Duane in Sanford Says:

  82. cmurda Says:

Ohhh. So firing a coach midseason can actually happen. Did you hear that Glazers? It’s possible. That loss to a below average Colts team was the end of the season. There is no coming back from that. That was must win. If the Glazers had a hair on their ass (they don’t), they would have already fired Todd. The problem with this organization starts with the top. The Glazer boys are a far cry from Papa Malcolm. It’s time to let Canary have the reigns to see if you catch lightning in a bottle without Mr Conservative involved. Byron was the O coordinator when we had a top offense under Brady. Then, all of a sudden he’s running up the middle every play? Canary comes over and his offense looks identical to Byron’s? There’s only 1 common person in all of that. Why is he still here? Grow a pair Glazers and make the obvious move.

  83. cmurda Says:

    @Oz Len

I love this line from you.

I guess it makes sense though, your team is the all time losing NFL franchise.

This is a Bucs site. if your team isn’t the Bucs what are you doing here? Trolling? Or are you above everybody else and YOUR Buccaneers are specific to only you and aren’t the same team that crapped the bed yesterday.

This franchise has 2 Super Bowls but you wouldn’t know that because your Patriots let the GOAT go only to have him win a Superbowl here. There was a Superbowl won way back in 2002 just so you know.

Having realistic expectations and then starting off 3-1 only to go 1-6 after that is beyond low expectations. Anybody that said this team would only win 2 games is not very bright. High expectations or not, losing to ATL and Indy should get you fired. There’s too much talent on this team. We have a oaching problem more than a talent problem.

  84. BOAT Says:

Todd Bowles as a head coach:

    36-58 (.396)

The Bucs organization look like total clowns for keeping him as the team’s head coach. And Arians really did a number on the team by recommending him for the job.

  85. Tony Marks Says:

“He’s getting the hell beat out of him with a porous offensive line. And (some) Bucs fans whine about Tampa Bay’s offensive line — ha”

What’s that Joe – the old appeal to there’s worse so we are great fallacy?

I like how its touted that we have this stellar Oline because of low sacks but when the QB is injured and can’t pull houdinis like he has 2-3 times games to avoid sacks and we give SIX sacks its the on the Qb for holding the ball too long ( which for the most part doesn’t pass the film test)

I’ll grant you its not a horrendous line but its faaaar below what you guys been hyping in your articles – mainly based on the Qbs talent at avoiding sacks.

Yep, exactly. It’s the same exact offense the Jets ran when Bowles was their head coach. It’s amazing that even at this point, so many people still blame other people for the offense.

It’s so blatantly obvious that it’s Bowles that is behind the offense and it’s just sad that many people give him a pass on it. Anyone that watched those Jets teams knows it’s the same offense, and it’s Bowles’ offense. It’s just baffling how the Bucs hired Bowles in the first place, knowing what a disaster those Jets teams were on offense.

Maybe the Bucs were doing the same nonsense and blaming coordinators for it, when it’s obviously Bowles that is dictating the offensive philosophy. There is no way it is a coincidence that the Bucs offense immediately became identical to the offense of those Bowles coached Jets teams.

  88. Erik The Viking Says:

Joe gives us a reminder of the Glazers making moves to hire Lovie in the background.

Gee, that gives us so much hope for the future.

That is the same logic that gave us Bowles.

    He is an incompetent buffoon.

It’s past time to can this guy and send a message.

  89. CTBucs Says:

Interim coaches always win their first game. I hate to say it, but my money is going to be put on the Panthers this week. Silver lining, Bowles will get canned if we lose this at home….

  90. Why Not Says:

Our next head coach will be Eric Bieniemy. What not? He’s an offensive coach.

  91. m Says:

we’re missing the greatest qb of all time this time

  92. #99 the big fella Says:

Our next coach will be Jim harbaugh.. mark it down.

  93. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

I hope they hire Josh McDaniels.

  94. Bobby Says:

More outlets are continuing to push Bucs among other teams as a real possibility for the services of that future Hall Of Fame coach in the Northeast are. I really really hope The Glazers and Licht whatever it takes to get BB here. I know this team has alot of questions going into next season m. Can you imagine if he brole Shula’s record as the Bucs HC, the final season that happen non stop national media coverage, merchandise sales and ticket sales would dramatically jump. Tampa fan base morale would be significantly up. Internet which includes Social media traffic would be very high. I don’t care what anybody says about about not wanting a defensive coach. I’m life long Bucs fan, not BB, but Sapp and others dogging a coach with 6 rings is eye rolling worthy to me. I don’t care about hos age. It’s BB, period. Nobody is coming out denying the Bucs interest so this tells at the very hopefully Bucs management is behind the scenes offering different deals like a dart board and see which one catches the bullseye. Go Bucs!

  95. optimisticbucsfan Says:

Jason Licht owns all of it…wins and losses

    He sucks.

    Need new blood at OBP

  96. infomeplease Says:

If Bowles continues leading this team the same way, don’t expect different results! To get different results you need to change what has not been working! In Bowles case, he may want to start with the defense! Sure isn’t anything like the defense 2 or 3 seasons ago! You remember, the defense that could get off the field on 3rd and long.

  97. mark2001 Says:

I wouldn’t give a zero percent chance that the Bucs would lose to anyone this year. Seems to me at best it is 30 chance we lose/70 chance we win.

Hey D**BAS*: Thanks for making my point about some ignorant fans. If you read my comment it is obvious that I’m a Cleveland Browns fan, not a Patriots fan at all. I’m watching the Bucs because I appreciate the best quarterback the Browns have had in 30-years. I’m also not watching the Browns this year because of the pervert quarterback they brought in to replace Mayfield. So, after watching my team for 60-years, I’m taking a year off to watch your team’s crap show. I do have an old connection though. As a youngster, I followed Doug Williams, another QB you guys crapped on before he left and won a Super Bowl for Washington. Go wash your Popcicle jersey.

  99. Ed Says:

There is a good case for Jason Licht not to be trusted taking advantage of high draft picks. His track record since ’14 when he became GM, grades below 50, more like 43 and that is giving a better than average rating for Vita Vea at 75 and giving Devin White a 50.

    2014 Mike Evans- 100
    2015 Jameis Winston- 25
    2016 Vernon Hargraves- 25
    2017 OJ Howard- 25
    2018 Vita Vea- 75
    2019 Devin White- 50
    2020 Tristan Wirfs- 100
    2021 Joe Tyron Shoyinka- 25
2022 None, Logan Hall was first player picked in round 2- 25
2023 Calijah Kancey- 100 for first ten games

In 9 drafts Jason has found 3 premium players, Evans, Wirfs and probably Kancey. Of all the others he drafted Hargraves and Howard are out of the league. Winston is a backup, White and Tyron Shoyinka surely will not be back with the Bucs. Logan Hall? I don’t trust this guy making high draft picks, his
    track record isn’t good.

  100. Dan Says:

Bucs Coaching– Bowles is not a bad D-coordinator. Makes some bonehead calls at the end of games and is slow to adjust, but he isn’t horrible. I think the Glazers keep him as head coach for the remainder of the season. It gives them a whole year to observe Canales in his role and see if he is a keeper or not.

Fantasy Coaching– Buc’s demote Bowles to D-coordinator, hire Bill Billechek as head coach and Tom Brady as offensive coordinator. This will NEVER happen, but how weird and fun would that be. Oh, it also wouldn’t work out.

But seriously, we do need to figure out where Canales fits in. It’s his first year calling plays. He shows some promise but needs to do it a lot. What if the Bucs keep Bowles for one more year to develop Canales into a head coach? Be gentle… just thinking outside the box (or maybe staying inside the box).
