Joe wants to issue a hearty “Welcome back!” to the Buccaneers defense.
What a difference a week makes!
Finally, Todd Bowles and friends put the clamp down on a rookie quarterback, breaking a four-game streak of rookie QBs eating their lunch.
If the Bucs were able to squeeze interceptions, they would have had at least two more than the one Antoine Winfield got in the fourth quarter.
Anyone miss Carlton Davis at cornerback? Joe didn’t.
Bowles got back to his roots — blitzing, blitzing and more blitzing of Titans QB Will Levis. But more impressive to Joe was the run defense, suffocating All-World running back Derrick Henry into a 24-yard day on 11 carries.
The more Joe sees of rookie defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, the more excited Joe gets. Vita Vea rushing off the edge and getting a one-hand sack was a beautiful thing, too. Lavonte David and Devin White earned their money, as well.
The offense still can’t run the ball. No surprise. But it was good enough, despite Baker Mayfield having a rough day with his accuracy.
Hats off to Rachaad White for his monster catch-and-run touchdown on the early screen pass. And what more can Joe say about Mike Evans. He wasn’t perfect, but he was an absolute beast. Joe has a full story on the home page.
It was a must-win for the Bucs and they delivered for a pro-Bucs home crowd.
The Saints (5-5) were mauled by the Vikings and the Bucs (4-5) are now even with them in the loss column and Tampa Bay owns the tiebreaker edge. Atlanta (4-5) plays later this afternoon at Arizona.
Bowles held off the looming tribal chants for him to fired. And Joe’s glad. Losing sucks, and today the Bucs are winners. Big winners.

Rachaad White gets 119 total yards and 2 touchdowns against the #2 ranked rushing defense in YPC allowed and Joe still thinks that was a below average performance for a running back just because White got 73 yards rushing, SMH! I hope Rachaad White gets more rushing yards than Derrick Henry today and Sean Murphy-Bunting gets torched just like he did when he was playing for us.

Canales play calling is still shakey but did improve by not forcing the run as much.

White is a terrible RB. He runs into the backs of guards and tackles…he never, ever breaks left or right. No vision whatsoever. Get rid of him and get a legit RB’s. He’s a pass catcher, not a RB. Edmund’s is an upgrade to him.

Should have won this game by scoring 30 on them. Play calling still is consistently bad then good. If they can show up like this next week they’ll have a good chance to win. But a win is a win and the D rebounded nicely. Jack to say Vrabel is a bad coach is just not true he has been in the playoffs with a lousy QB almost every year he’s been a HC. He started as DC under Romeo Cronell another decent coach and Belichick disciple. O’Brien also went to the playoffs multiple times during his HC tenure.

FYI never said anywhere Henry would have more yards than White, said he would carry White on his back to the end zone if he tackles him high. JTS was pretty good for a change. Yaya was pretty good; looked very fierce. DW45 was much better. Dean was much better. Now all you yahoos gotta learn to catch.
Sans drops , Evans was a monster! Godwin was a Godsend! White was vastly better. Baker was pretty darn good. Trey Palmer was a pleasant surprise. Even Thompkins looked on the ball. You all must maintain this standard for us to win this division.

Man, some crap never changes, and this thread is a good example. I was with family from TN (yeah, ironic but not NFL fans). Glad the Bucs won. I only saw a few minutes of the game. I saw ME13 juggle and drop two passes, one in the end zone, that he would have normally held on to. I wonder if his hammy is right? So, Devon White showed up. About time.
