The issue is the complete piece of trash at QB.
Again, instead of blindly defending Mayfield, if you bothered to take an hour and just watch his tape from the last two years, you wouldn’t be the least bit surprised by his play so far. This is LITERALLY what he looked like on tape. He’s not good.

Awful garbage QB, tipped passes, inaccurate, Checkdown Charlie, like nearly all QBs is awful under pressure — BUT when he has time and a clean pocket, like nearly all QBs, he can make throws.
Exactly what we’ve seen in the first half so far.
Which doesn’t bode well since I doubt he’s going to have a bunch of chances to sit back in a perfectly clean pocket. But if the Bucs can do that, he will make some plays. So if you’re a Mayfield fanboi, you can hope for that.

Warning, warning, warning… To Joe’s point, turnovers don’t mean spit if your offense can’t score. Can’t wait to see Bowles’ & Canales’ adjustments after halftime. The game will won or lost based on which team makes the better adjustments. Vikings were bottled up early, but adjusted quickly. Bucs looked to be slow to adjust on both sides of the ball.

Very bizarre game to this point. Defense has forced THREE takeaways but the offense has only managed to score 3 points off them. That same defense though has given up almost 300 passing yards in the 1st HALF to Cousins, yet Vikes have only put up 10 points themselves.
Mayfield isn’t the QB I wanted (6-for-15 for 63 yards to this point doesn’t impress me), but he’s not totally at fault for this offensive fiasco either. White’s got 9 carries for 25 yards … 2.8 YPC. Is it him or is it the OLine? Or both?

This defense is playing inspired, which I give Bowles credit for. Not a top 5 defense if you giving up 300 yards passing in the first half. Definitely playing well enough to win. Gotta get the offense going to eat clock and score a bit more. Hurry up seems to give the line more benefit. They should keep doing that. Get the ball to Evans and Godwin.

It’s always amazing to me when people blame players when they’re running the scheme that the coaches called. When guys are playing a soft zone, this is the trash defensive play you see.
There is such a thing as a tight zone, see the 2002 Bucs, the best zone defense ever.
But this soft / loose zone defense is infuriating. It’s all about being more worried about making mistakes than getting off the field.

Hopefully we can shore up some things because there are definitely issues, but from that last drive in the first half through the rest of the game, you could feel this team starting to *believe*.

That’s game, Chris Godwin catch. Bucs win!!! Agree with earlier post, R.White has not looked like what the team kept saying all offhe was going to be. He does not look special. In fact the special factor i saw from a Bucs RB today was Sean Tucker.
Now the Vikings RB Mattison, he looks special out there

Tough team and loud crowd…great road win for a supposedly crappy team. Ain’t pretty but some great plays on both sides of the ball. Winning makes working on the mistakes that much easier!!!! LFG!!

Give Mayfield a ton of credit, he was complete trash in that first half.
But played a great second half.
Canales is the offensive MVP for the game, wasn’t completely predictable, mixed things up, I loved the playcalling. If Mayfield isn’t so insanely bad in the first half, this offense puts up a lot more points.

Hats off to Todd Bowles. Its easy to let the emotion take over when criticizing but he was outstanding, his defense was outstanding and I am very hopeful with Dave Cannoli calling plays baby!!!!!
