Trey Palmer, Sean Tucker Slowly Getting Better

August 15th, 2023

Rookie receiver Trey Palmer.

Joe is going to type a little about two rookies Joe knows intrigue Bucs fans.

Receiver Trey Palmer and undrafted running back Sean Tucker are on a lot of fans’ radars.

Palmer started camp slow, Joe thought. Made more mistakes than plays early and gradually improved.

Friday night he broke out. What a touchdown cathc. What footwork! There were other catches, too. What impressed Joe more is that in the practices since that first preseason game, one could argue Palmer is getting better steadily.

And he seems to be damn happy the Bucs drafted him.

“Out of all the places, I’m here,” Palmer said of Tampa Bay. “I’m just blessed that I got the opportunity to make that play, make the catch and to just play in the game.”

Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have embraced Palmer.

“It’s just like a brotherhood,” Palmer said. “They look at me as their little brother and I look at them as a big brother.

“They all just teach me. I learn from them and watch film with them; they just teach me new moves, new tricks to the game, and that’s what I learn from them.”

Tucker was like Palmer in that he started slow. One big reason is since his last game at Syracuse, Tucker was limited in football activities for months because of an unspecified heart issue.

Tucker finally was cleared to practice with the Bucs for training camp and he’s about to the point that he might be the Bucs’ best runner, certainly in the top four.

So yeah, two guys, a third-day draft pick and an undrafted free agent, may end up being 2023 impact players if they keep improving. And don’t forget the undrafted nickel cornerback.

Sean Tucker will be the Bucs RB2 soon…

    He’s got the goods.

  2. JimBobBuc Says:

If Tucker can pass block he should be our RB1. The Bucs had focused on acquiring RBs that are good receivers and forgotten about running abilities so it’s good to see a back that can actually run the ball. We need someone back there with great vision as the line will struggle to create a hole as designed.

Like Tucker I hope Palmer will take blocking seriously. Most of our young receivers whiffed their blocks last week.

I’m not going overboard on these guys just yet. We’ll see.

  5. Steven007 Says:

From his college highlights and even the long run he had that was called back due to a penalty, I see a lot of Ray Rice in Tucker.

  6. Infomeplease Says:

Your team can never have too many gvreat players. I hope these guys pan out!

  7. Pewter Power Says:

Tucker had me excited I won’t lie and it wasn’t just the big plays even the ones for 1-2 yards the guy looks explosive. As long as Bowles doesn’t play politics and feed the best back

  8. garro Says:

    Agreed Joe
If they keep both can Canales get the ball in their hands? I see some intriguing possibilities there. Not just gadget plays but ways to exploit their talents and speed. Tucker looks to have some quicks. Palmer has shown alot and is a burner.

    Go Bucs!

  9. SlyPirate Says:

“Licht is terrible at identifying talent” … where are you trolls at?

  10. Wild Bill Says:

Those guys were bright spots in an overall boring performance. Beginning to think this team will struggle even in their own division.

Both ran 4.3 something 40s. So yes – very fast. You don’t find many RBs that run sub-4.4. And its especially unusual having power to go along with that speed like Tucker has…..

JOE. People have the nerve to throw rocks at Jason. Dude plucks talent from so many diff places. Brate was the last undrafted player to make some noise in the nfl maybe these 3 guys can too and that’s saying a lot considering they play for a team that before Brady didn’t get any national attention. The whole nfl over looks LVD who is one of the best if not the best off the ball LB and the disrespect ME13 gets. At least real Bucs fans will show them love

  13. Bucamania Says:

I’m high on both these dudes especially Palmer.

  14. RagingBrisket Says:

None if it will matter if the offensive line shts the bed all game long

  15. BillyBucco Says:

    Lay off the O Line.
No reason these guys won’t gel and get better.
That was so vanilla and didn’t highlight anything we are actually good at.
In fact, I’m sure they know some plays they are good at, but with a new offense, that’s what the preseason is for.
Keep learning and then surprise people Sept 10th.

    LFG Bucs

    Tucker looked great!

Chase Edmonds too looked ripped and ready’

    The O-line?

    Worse than last year!

    We are screwed!
