15 Projected Buccaneers Starters Won’t Play

August 11th, 2023

Tristan Wirfs is out.

And some fans wonder why Joe occasionally refers to preseason games as “worthless.”

For tonight’s preseason kickoff against the Steelers, Tampa Bay is resting 15 key players. They are as follows:

Rachaad White
Mike Evans
Chris Godwin
Matt Feier
Ryan Jensen
Tristan Wirfs

Shaq Barrett
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka
Ryan Neal
Carlton Davis
Antoine Winfield Jr.
Devin White
Lavonte David
Vita Vea
Greg Gaines

All eyes on the Bucs offensive line with likely Brandon Walton at left tackle and Nick Leverett at left guard, Robert Hainsey at center, rookie Cody Mauch at right guard and Luke Goedeke at right tackle.

Joe hopes Baker Mayfield ties his shoelaces.

Go Bucs!

TF and why is JTS sitting out? And you don’t watch preseason for the established players, you watch the new guys and that’s how you come to know the Scottie millers and cam brates of the nfl. And there’s a new OC damn right you should be watching

  2. Mike S Says:

Why is Baker with the backups?

Does this mean Kyle gets the starters?

  3. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Great News! We’re about to find out if our 2nd and 3rd units are made of steel or spaghetti. No more hiding in the shadows or riding the coattails of the first unit.

  4. TBSwarm Says:

    I wish Kancey wasn’t hurt 🙁

Lets see how the backups do tonight! No injuries pls!

  5. A Bucs Fan Says:

Any reason why Rakim Jarrett is out too?

  6. Defense Rules Says:

I don’t understand what’s going on here. I can’t remember ever seeing this done in Game 1 of preseason … Looks like they’re sitting their whole 1st string. Game 3 is the throw-away game, not Game 1. Wondering now if the Steelers told them they were doing the same thing for Game 1 & so the Bucs just followed suit.

  7. D-Rok Says:

It promises to be a scintillating game, no doubt.

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bowles has Mayfield playing against backup Defensive Players.

He wants Baker to look as good as possible.

Meanwhile, Trask will play against the starting Defense.

Bowles is giving Trask the shaft.

Sounds like a star-studded cast meant to score big at the box-office.

Or, it’s just getting guys reps. Who knows?

    Foosball is here – GOBUCS!!!

  11. Mike S Says:

Bonzai why would you not want to give your new starters reps with the first team?

    This is interesting.

  12. MadMax Says:

Oh well, i was looking forward to watching Wirfs…all good

  13. Bucs since 76 Says:

Actually Bowles is letting Trask play with the 1st team against the Jets 1st team. That’s a good to find out if could be the starter against the Vikings. Now if Trask looks better then Mayfield in preseason not starting him against the Vikings would be wrong.

Bowels Blunder out of the gate.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I do disagree with Joe. I think preseason is very important…to the guys trying to make the team.

Yeah, and if any of these guys would’ve played and gotten hurt YOU’D BE COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT, TOO. 🙄

  17. Buc4evr Says:

Why is JTS sitting out. Seriously that guy needs all the plays he can get. Lol.

  18. Buddha Says:

The goal is NO INJURIES and get backups significant playing time! #smart

  19. Lakeland Steve Says:

Hainsey is getting his ass handed to him on short yardage. That’s extremely disappointing.

  20. Voice of Truth Says:

What a joke Bowles is. His approach to this is hilarious
