Mission Accomplished, Messages Sent, Says Todd Bowles

Todd Bowles

The Buccaneers’ three-day mandatory minicamp is in the books. Head coach Todd Bowles shut it down early today after a short practice.

Afterwards, Bowles said his Bucs got the job done.

He said the minicamp was just an extention of spring OTA practices “with more meetings.” Bowles added, “We tried to finalize a few things that we needed to clean up, and I thought we got that done. We got a good amount of the concepts installed … we got the concepts done, so we were happy about that.

Bowles emphasized that with no hitting or pads allowed, he’s not evaluating players significantly.

“We don’t award nobody in shorts and t-shirts,” he said.

Bowles also shared a message that he has for rookies wanting to know what’s expected of them when training camp begins in six weeks.

“[Show] what they showed on college tape. There’s a reason we took them,” Bowles said.

Players also were reminded to stay in shape and to stay out of trouble.

These flag football practices are silly. And the 6-week layoff is a recipe for getting out of shape and into trouble.

“These flag football practices are silly.”

So no appreciation for the learning aspect of the game? This time of year players are in meeting rooms more than they’re out on the field, but I guess the whole “football is 80% mental and 40% physical” adage means nothing to you either

  3. DBS Says:

No. He did not get his way. Trask was not named starter. So now everything is silly and Trask may not be able to stay out of trouble you see.

  4. Dooley Says:

    @Micanopy

Your point is a giveaway you only know the game from the bleachers. Memory retention is a thing, so is burnout. These guys get summer breaks to you know decompress, be with their families, maybe have a little fun before they come back to clock in full-time to the grind from July to January where every single player puts their own personal health on the line for our enjoyment.

    @Dooley

I only know the game from the bleachers? BWAHAHAHAHA. Thanks for the laugh.

  6. Hodad Says:

A lot of teams skipped mini camps being pleased with what they did during OTA’s. The Jets with Rodgers must think they’re ready for the playoffs, they were one of those teams. With a new O.C., and young players needing reps, it was good to see the Bucs put in the meaningless? two, and a half days. Seems the Bucs know what everyone is saying about them, and are putting the work in to show everyone wrong. Six weeks, can’t wait!

  7. JD Still Says:

Beware Guys! Six weeks is a long time , you can eat , sleep, and party the time away , but then comes Florida , in July, in Pads! More than a few ball players have seen their dreams and careers go up in smoke when they showed up , fat, dumb , and shocked about what awaited them!

  8. Buc1987 Says:

4-5 wins tops with Trask or Baker… it doesn’t matter.

  9. #99 the big fella Says:

Stfu Buc1987 you are always so negative

  10. Roc Says:

No success with a Players Coach (aka Please let’s be friends)

Raheem was a Prime Example of this

    Let’s go bowling
    Let’s hang out in London

Fans will see. Prediction BY mid season the call for Bowles to be fired will be in FULL EFFECT

Tom Brady is the GOAT. At 46.

Because he took care of body and health 365 days per year.

And he barely ever touched alcohol.

And only tequila because it doesn’t dehydrate the brain.

    Be like the GOAT.

And if anyone else has been through a divorce with children, then they will know the nightmare that Tom had to go through last season.

I blame Gisele 100%. Her husband was going to retire at 46.

Thats 20 years before most men can retire.

She was spoiled. She destroyed Tom Brady and his family.

Im tired of people blaming Tom.

    I blame Gisele.

  12. Lakeland Steve Says:

So Teacherman, if it has alcohol in it, it affects the brain, including dehydration, Including Tequila!

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

This place has turned into a zoo.

  14. Buc king Says:

    I agree teacher man

  15. stpetebucfan Says:

    teacherman?

    Really?

“She was spoiled. She destroyed Tom Brady and his family.

Im tired of people blaming Tom.

    I blame Gisele.”

Giselle brought more money into their marriage than Brady EVER did. Gisele Bündchen is one of the greatest exponents of modeling in history. According to Forbes, Bündchen was the highest-paid model in the world for 14 consecutive years. IE Teacherman and Buc King Giselle was the major breadwinner in the family NOT Brady! She was the GOAT at International fashion modeling which is actually more lucrative than the NFL!

And so what does Tom Brady’s retirement have to do with it? What business it is of yours. According to Giselle and all of those around her and Brady has NEVER disputed their agreement…Giselle GAVE UP HER FREAKING GOAT career to give Brady two of his three kids! She gave up HER CAREER to do the major parenting that Brady had to miss because of HIS CAREER!

The agreement was that she would do that during Brady’s prime and then he would kick in his share of major parenting after that and Giselle would finally get to return to HER OWN GOAT CAREER.

How freaking selfish are you guys? Or are we talking male chauvinism? I honestly do not get how anybody disputes this fairness.

Sadly Brady could have not crapped all over himself last season and could have avoided the frustration of the previous season and done something pretty rare in the ego dominated world of athletes…gone out on top instead of humbling himself.
