Round 4 Ends With No Tight End Drafted, No Bucs Pick

April 29th, 2023

Former Bucs tight end Cameron Brate

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht sat on his hands through Round 4 and did not trade up into it like he did one year ago.

In 2022, Licht dealt this year’s fourth-round pick and to get fifth- and seventh-round picks last year. The primary goal was the fifth-rounder, where the Bucs selected cornerback Zyon McCollum.

Interestingly, not one tight end was drafted in Round 4 today. Has that happened in the past 20 years?

Joe suspects the Bucs are eyeing a tight end in Round 5, where they have two picks, No. 153 overall and No. 175, a compensatory pick. Keep an eye on speedy University of Miami tight end Will Mallory, a very mature player who comes from a long line of football coaches.

I doubt he sat on his hands, probably couldn’t swing a deal.

How’d that trade up work for us?

  3. Ghost of Tom Brady Says:

Licht is nailing this draft for the picks he has to work with. I’m sure he would have loved to trade up in the 4th but we need more bodies.

  4. BLM Says:

Trust the board and let the draft come to you.

  5. Kalind Says:

    Zach Kuntz time!

  6. Dooley Says:

The urgent need for a TE that’s been expressed on this site apparently doesn’t line up with the board at 1Buc, at least not as a high priority. Maybe we won’t be run heavy, maybe we’ll be 3 wide most of the time like most modern NFL offenses, but who really knows? I don’t lol

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Get an ILB or safety or corner or WR or offensive line, or even edge or d-line, literally anything but RB and TE.

  8. Redeemer Says:

They drafted two last year, in a bad TE draft. The best are gone. Like Layne Staley, I stay away.

  9. SOEbuc Says:

all trenches and db depth after Cancy. A QB in 6 or 7 to compete with Trask for second and third.

  10. Tucker Says:

Such a weak ilb draft class that’s why the bucs didn’t even entertain trading white like some fans wanted

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

There is a TE at Cinn named Wylie. travis kelce has been coaching him up for 2 years.

  12. Buc You Says:

    Keep drafting linemen 😁

  13. Dewey Selmon Says:

Nevermind, Tenn just drafted Wylie from Cinn.

    Sirvocea dennis lb yay.

  15. View from 132 Says:

Pinellas local kid Jacob Harris from UCF is available. Rams draft pick two years ago. More of a receiver but played some TE in LA.

  16. 1#bucsfan Says:

Prob pick up some more players when teams make cuts to trim the rosters down in preseason.

Well…we did in Round 5…LOL. And btw… Frelund doesn’t look like all that. Joe has much better pictures.

Cameron Brate has some Teeth on him! He has a future as a Tooth Model for a Dental Firm!
I am glad he is gone to be honest
