Baker Mayfield Has A Message For Bucs Fans

March 20th, 2023

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield.

So new Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield will field questions from the local pen and mic club this afternoon at One Buc Palace.

Well, Mayfield called an audible and already put out a message directed to fans. Mayfield took to the Buccaneers’ official Twitter to announce he signed his contract, is happy to be in Tampa and is ready to start working. “Let’s get it,” Mayfield added.

As far as the “Let’s bake” message from the Bucs, Joe’s going to guess that means something very different than what first sprang to mind.

  5. DingleBerry Says:

Lmao. It’s funny how little it takes to inspire confidence in the popcorn eating masses of this fan base.

    “Omg he’s talking to us!”

Hilarious. I’ve seen this fan base fall in love with so many no talent bums, Riley Bullough post hard knocks springs to mind, that it isn’t the least bit shocking to me that people are actually happy about us signing arguably the worst QB in the league last season.

    3-4 wins here we come!

  6. DoooshLaRue Says:

Maybe he can borrow Softie’s Easy Bake Oven?

  8. Crickett Baker Says:

@TBBF, I thought the same thing but his eyes and facial projections kinda made it look like he was told to do it. I mean he didn’t look real happy. I dunno..just my first and second impressions.

  25. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

Trask will make Bake the most expensive clipboard holder in the NFL.

  26. DingleBerry Says:

    @#99 the big fella

Folks around here told me the same when I said we wasted our first 2 picks of the 2021 draft and that we should have taken Azeez Ojulari over JTS and picked a depth piece instead of Kyle Trask.

Ojulari turned in 8 sacks 49 tackles 8 TFL’s 13 QB hits 2 batted passes and a forced fumble as a rookie while JTS could barely get on the field. And Kyle Trask wasn’t even on the game day roster the entire season and we had injuries/depth problems at multiple positions.

And we literally came 1 play away from going to back to back Super Bowls. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that if Licht had picked Ojulari and Paulson Adebo instead of JTS and Trask, we’d have Lombardi trophies instead of 2.

  27. Parrishbucsfan Says:

  32. Stormy Says:

Baker Haters, aka Gator Fans….. I didn’t think anything could be worse than the FSU/Winston fan club, but here we are….

  33. Buc4evr Says:

@Stormy, Gator fan here. I hope Baker succeeds and delivers the hardware this season but until the bullets start to fly it’s all talk. As far as UF QB’s I have said it before – never draft a UF QB as they never succeed in the NFL. ( I know Grossman made it to the SB on the Bears defense, so what). Trask couldn’t even beat out Gabbert for the number 2 and from reports struggled learning the playbook. If the Bucs draft AR15, they will be wasting a draft pick.

  34. Peskajumba Says:

    Todd Bowles

  35. Just Leave Trask Alone Says:

Since76 lol there are more expensive backups actually

  36. DingleBerry Says:

    @Stormy

I personally think Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask both suck.

  37. Darin Says:

We have a message for him too! Not suitable for this here site tho

  38. unbelievable Says:

I dunno Joe, I think he looks kinda baked in that video tbh 😂

  39. Bojim Says:

Listen to coach dingledangle. He knows all.

  40. captivajim Says:

    Lots of RAH-Rah

  41. 1sparkybuc Says:

So now Buc “fans” have a new target to attack at the QB position. I’m old enough to remember a time when people used to encourage and support anyone who wore the team uniform. We drafted Trask. Before I die I would love to see one QB that we drafted, signed to a second contract. Hopefully Trask is that good and that guy. If not, I want Mayfield to to succeed. Use this draft to plug holes in the trenches. Build a team around the position

  42. mark2001 Says:

Yes Joe… in central Illinois, when we guys talked about someone being baked, it meant something completely different.

  43. Mike Johnson Says:

Welcome to BUC Country Baker Mayfield. Win and we are all in. Lose and you will hear the Boos.

  44. Buccos Says:

May the best man win. No politics. No who was drafted first or makes more money. Earn it on the field and in the locker room

  45. AnonymousBuc76 Says:

    Yeah, break a leg Baker…

  46. Ds Says:

    Let’s bake – Tanard Jackson

  47. Stormy Says:

Who gives a spit whether the Bucs win a Lombardi with a QB they developed or one they brought in? Who freaking cares. The Packers ‘developed’ Aaron Rodgers and got one title out of it.

I don’t understand the obsession with ‘developing our own’.

Lombardis are all that matters. Don’t care how they get them.

  48. BringBucsBack Says:

    “Hey Bucs fans…Lets Ride!!!”

  49. Tom Sumner Says:

    wake and bake totally!

  50. Hail2dabucs Says:

Hey bake , when your under pressure just get rid of it ! You do have Mike Evans that will get your jump balls and I know you can hit Chris on this quick slants and outs , just play to the offensive strength and youll be good..good luck

  51. sasquatch Says:

I actually do care how we get our QB. A QB drafted and developed in house can become a franchise icon. You can develop a tradition, you can develop a QB pipeline, and those teams are more often thought of as winning franchises. The esteem the team is held in matters, the national perception makes it easier to attract good coaches, free agents, TV coverage, etc… A QB tradition is something to be proud of. It’s also good business, not to mention that paying a franchise QB drafted in round 1 buys you 5 years of affordable QB play which is an enormous help with the over inflated salaries at the position.

  52. Goatfarmer Says:

    Stormy, well said. Two axioms

    1. Bucs will never sign a drafted QB to a second contract.
    2. No Gator QB will ever succeed in the NFL.

  53. SlyPirate Says:

    Goatfarmer and Stormy

AGREED! The Bucs 2 Super Bowls were won with a home grown dominant defense and a vet QB. Why not just own this recipe for success? Put your draft picks into the 21 other positions and grab a reliable vet.
