Busy Day (And Night) For Rondé Barber

February 9th, 2023

Rondé Barber was patrolling Radio Row at the Super Bowl today pimping another cornerback who might be named to the Hall of Fame tonight — when Barber hopes to be named to the class of 2023.

Barber noted on SiriusXM NFL Radio how he used to make time weekly when he was playing to watch film of former Bucs, Jets, Patriots and Chiefs cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is on the Hall ballot for the first time this year. Revis and Barber are two of 15 finalists in the 2023 class of modern era players, of which five should get in tonight.

Co-host and former MVP quarterback Rich Gannon lauded Barber and said he’s a sure Hall of Famer, even if he doesn’t make the cut this year.

“I’ve played against some great corners; I don’t know that I ever played against a guy that is as instinctive and smarter than [Barber],” said Gannon, who faced the Bucs in the Super Bowl in January of 2003.

Man, Joe will be so bummed out if Barber doesn’t get the Hall nod in his third as a finalist. The announcement comes tonight on NFL Network.

Well, at least Barber got a payday from his trip to Phoenix. He’s on Radio Row pimping Church’s chicken.

Joe finds it comical that Barber gets a paycheck from the Bucs for in-house media work yet is out there plugging a fast food chicken that competes with an official Buccaneers sponsor.

Make that money, Rondé!

I love Ronde, but I think Revis being on the ballot really hurts his chances.

  2. Buc50 Says:

    Revis can freaking wait

  3. Dooley Says:

If Ronde doesn’t get in tonight, I’m rioting idgaf

  4. CrackWise Says:

Revis has better numbers than Ronde? Since when? What am I forgetting?

Revis was good BUT not RONDE great.

  5. KC Buc Says:

If Revis played somewhere that wasn’t in New York, he wouldn’t be first ballot. Great player, but not a generational talent. Inflated pro bowl numbers due to market. Classic NYC mentality, everything is the biggest and best in new york *insert eyeroll*. Not to mention Barber got his super bowl by leading a legendary defense-first team, Revis rode Tom’s coattails to his ring on an above average, decent at best defense.

Give me Barber any day of the week over Weenus Island

  6. SlyPirate Says:

CrackWise is right. Scott is wrong.

Revis should be a lock. It would be nearly impossible to vote Revis in and exclude Barber. Barber’s stats and accomplishments are similar and, in many cases, better.

Geezzz, Is that the old Church’s Chicken that was in Tampa. I remember eating there like 40 something years ago. I remember it looked like a dump, but the Chicken was the best. Had no idea that place existed outside of Tampa. Now I have to go hunt one down and recreate my childhood.

  8. Smooth Bay Rider Says:

Like I said last week. I’ve got an insider telling me that Barber has indeed been selected, and that Derrick Brooks will be the one that hands him his jacket. I really hope that my guy is correct.
